It's a hole in the wall spot in Woburn and it's awesome for so many reasons. It's small inside and hasn't been touched by an interior designer. It's exactly the kind of place you know could end up being a gem. Save the pretentious dishes for some high end place and give me this rare roast beef piled high on an onion roll. Wow. The beef is oh so rare! That's my favorite kind. It's a rich pink color and so tender. It comes with bbq sauce, cheese and mayo but you can customize it. Onion rings are done in house. However, I have to say this was one of my favorites as far as delivering on the meat. Not only was it thick stack of it on the sandwich, but it was perfectly cooked to a medium rare that most places can't match. I had the five way, which has the onion rings and horseradish sauce. In Woburn for the night and wanted Roast Beef. Pete's had the best Yelp reviews so that was my choice. Small mostly takeout place with about 4 tables inside and a few more outside. Steady stream of takeout customers at 8pm on a Monday. Walked right up to the counter and with a little help from the gentleman behind it I ordered the Big Beef Dinner Plate (Three-Way) that comes with a very large sandwich, onion rings, and fries. I also ordered a 20 oz soda. The food came out fairly quickly and the onion rings and fries were piping hot and straight from the fryer. Upon opening the box the smell made me start salivating and after taking my couple obligatory photos I attacked the Big Beef sandwich. 8-10oz of perfectly cooked roast beef on an onion roll with (Three-Way) cheese, mayo & bbq sauce. I destroyed that sandwich in the blink of an eye. By then the onion rings and fries had cooled. I polished off the onion rings and about 3/4 the fries before I realized what a glutton I was and finally ceased the carnage. A pack of rabid wolves probably couldn't have eaten that as quickly as I did. Great service, large portions, and super flavorful. With tax total was $23.94 I'd eat here again! read more

I have visited this location approx. 4 times in the last year. I finally had my camera with me to take some pictures and write a yelp! I am a fan of this location for many reasons. The food has been great, the customer service is awesome and the timing in getting the food out is perfect. On this day, I arrived after calling my order in. As usual, it was ready. The phone was ringing off the hook as I got my roast beeft plate and sat down. They have a wide selection of Coke products to choose from. My sandwich was a roast beef with mustard and pickle. I had a mix of fries and rings along with it. Everything was perfect. Not too hot and not too cold on the fries and rings and the sandwich was loaded with just the right amount of warm roast beef. Pete's was our first stop on our North Shore Beefs tour. It was close to our hotel and we are glad we stopped. It was one of the best beefs we had on our trip! We stopped in right when they opened. We looked over the menu at the counter and decided on 3 super beefs, 3 way, add onion rings. We got to talking with the owner George and he was a great guy. Being our first beef, we had a ton of questions and George was happy to share his info. Our food came up quickly and they looked phenomenal! It was a murder scene. We all inhaled our sandwiches and they were absolutely glorious. The bun was toasted perfectly, beef had good flavor and warmth, and the sauce and toppings were on point. We loved our first beef. I wish I had taken a picture. There is a lot of beef in this sandwich. When my order came out, a gentleman who was waiting for his order commented "my son is in the meat business. He knows his meats. He said this is the best roast beef sandwich you can find anywhere, and he eats a lot of roast beef". Their barbecue sauce has a little bit of spice and is not too sweet, which I prefer. Their menu is extensive, offering pizza, dinner plates, calzones, wraps, soups and salads. The inside is small, compact and clean. I have always heard about the mythical 'Roast Beef sandwich shop' in Boston's surrounding suburbs. Given that the average resident of 'just outside' Boston looks 20 - 30 years older than their actual age ... a healthy diet isn't quite something folks from Woburn, Tewksbury, North Reading, etc. are known for. And health food, this is not. Inside looks like any family pizza shop you'll find in Massachusetts. Stuck in the 1990's, formica everywhere, high order counter and close quarters. It's dated ... but spotlessly clean. Nowhere you'd want to sit and eat. Most people sitting at the tables are waiting for their order. They had slice pies (a rarity in these parts!) which looked pretty unremarkable. Thin crust, uninspired cheese and greasy, flat pepperoni. I opted for the highly talked about Roast Beef sandwich. A sandwich Arby's wished it was. A few tips: - Cheese is 75 cents extra. And for that you get a single slice of unmelted white American cheese. I was hoping for orange cheese sauce. This would be 100 times better with tangy Cheese Whiz. - The sandwich comes dry. I thought it would have some kind of sauce on it. Without sauce it's bland. Pay 75 cents and get the sauce. I think sauce make or break for the sandwich. If only they had horseradish sauce! (Arby's for the win here.) - Ask for an onion roll. I did not know this and got a non-descript sesame roll. Why wouldn't a sesame roll come standard? Why why why? The roll is perfectly browned on the grill with a light layer of butter or mayo to give it a light crisp and saltiness. - The beef itself is like the center of a steak. It's on the bland side and could use sauce or seasoning. But it is moist, tender and sliced paper thin and piled high. I will admit, you can't find roast beef sliced this thin and moist anywhere else I've been in the country. The texture is so strange, in a good way. - The Large (says Large on the menu board ... counter guy called it Regular ... it's basically the middle size) is perfectly adequate for most humans. The Sasquatch-sized Super Size sandwich shoild come with a tool for you to make another hole in your belt. Here, the sizing is true. I am a big guy with a big appetite and the Large was the perfect size for me. The bottom line ... the sandwich in its plain form is like a Nissan with no features, bells or whistles. Barely worth driving. Add some upgrades ... onion roll ... BBQ sauce ... and you're talking fun to drive. Why THESE all don't come standard is beyond me! $10.75 for a large sandwich + $1.50 for cheese and sauce ... and suddenly this is not so cheap. Add $4 fries and now you're talking a $15 meal. Suggestions to the owners ... Horseradish sauce, orange cheese whiz vs. white American slice ... onion roll as standard. And THEN ... shut up and take my money! Then we started to try some of their other items, like delicious marinated steak tips with salad, awesome Pizza and a staple in our house a chicken finger sub, three way (bbq sauce, mayo, American cheese) with bacon (we just call it "the sub"). Came here on a whim and it was a solid choice. I have heard of this place and really needed to try the beef. I got a junior roast beef 3 way, my go to and I went with a pizza roll on the side. This thing was massive, and it looked like they grilled the bun on the in and outside which was a nice touch and something I haven't seen yet. I have had my fair share of Northshore beef, and this was one of the best. The sauce, cheese, to mayo ratio was on point with that perfectly grilled bun. It was a little rarer than what I typically like, but it was still top notch, and the meat was tender without being too chewy. The pizza roll was crunchy and a nice side snack. My sister got a beef and an order of mozzarella sticks and fries. Both were great apps. The staff was friendly, and we didn't wait long for our meal despite the rush when we walked. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and even the patrons were warm as there's a shared understanding here that this is the spot for roast beef. I ordered the Junior Beef 3-Way and was immediately struck by how tall it was stacked. It was drenched in BBQ sauce and mayo, which sounds like it could be overkill, but the generous pile of roast beef balanced everything out. The sandwich was a symphony of flavor, and somehow, despite the sauces, you could still savor the natural richness of the meat. I couldn't stop thinking about that sandwich. Was in the north shore today so I decided I could go for a roast beef sandwich and wanted to support local so I just plugged in roast beef in the GPS on the way back home to see what came up. I ordered the French fries based on the reviews and a large roast beef sandwich with sauce and cheese. The fries were nice and crispy and not soggy or greasy, very impressive. They aren't anything special like crinkle or curly but the execution was spot on. The roast beef sandwich was packed with meat and sauce. I wasn't able to eat it right away so I can't comment on the bun, but now I regret not eating it on the spot. I'd def give it another shot and be sure to dine in.
