It's a hole in the wall spot in Woburn and it's awesome for so many reasons. It's small inside and hasn't been touched by an interior designer. It's exactly the kind of place you know could end up being a gem. Save the pretentious dishes for some high end place and give me this rare roast beef piled high on an onion roll. Wow. The beef is oh so rare! That's my favorite kind. It's a rich pink color and so tender. It comes with bbq sauce, cheese and mayo but you can customize it. Onion rings are done in house. None of that frozen crap. If you like onion rings you need to get these. So good. Light and flavorful. The guy behind the counter was so nice. He explained the roast beef options to me and other menu items to other patrons. There were some other first timers in there and the long time customers were giving advice on what to eat. It was magical. 5 star for the Roast beef and onion rings. Can't speak to the other items. They were sending out alot pizza for take out orders but I can't imagine not getting the Beef when I'm here
My husband likes to try different roast beef places on occasion, and asked if I'd join him in his trip to Pete's. I'm not a roast beef fan, but they have a lot of other choices on the menu, so of course I was in. I ordered a meatball calzone - I got the SMALL. Let me tell you, this thing was gargantuan. I only ate half of it! And it was so delicious... they added cheese on the top that added a nice crisp. The crust was perfect, too. My husband said the roast beef was excellent. Service and prices were reasonable too.
A legend. Is it better than Bill's beef at C&S? By 5 votes in 2026 Battle of the Beef. Yes, it's good. Wicked good. This is a neck and neck beef when it compared to C&S, my personal favorite. Beef was super red, no gray. Bun was perfectly toasted. Service was excellent and I was able to talk with the owner, who takes great pride in his beef. This was awesome. No question. Small, tight seating area. Classic Massachusetts. Eat here and GFY.
Wow Pete's is out of this world good. Great roast beef, super rare, awesome tangy bbq sauce, perfect crispy bun. Reason why it's the 2024 beef champion. Onion rings sliced thin so super crunchy and a perfect amount of batter to onion ring. I'm impressed! Great service. Food came out quickly. Only knock on the place is lack of seating, there is 4 or 5 tables. Place is tiny, so I'm sure takeout is how they do business. Loved it! I will be back!!!
So far this is my favorite place to get New England style beef's. The bun is made really well & holds up to all the moisture, it didn't fall apart. The meat is super thin sliced, juicy, served rare as it should be. The cheese & sauce worked perfectly together and it was delicious. Small clean place with great service with a smile. Can't wait to go back.
I've had roast beef sandwiches before. I've had it from delis, sub shops, and even the hard to find beef on wecks. However, I have to say this was one of my favorites as far as delivering on the meat. Not only was it thick stack of it on the sandwich, but it was perfectly cooked to a medium rare that most places can't match. I had the five way, which has the onion rings and horseradish sauce. I think next time I'll try the four way with the raw onions. I would eat this sandwich daily if it was nearby me. I would recommend it to everyone who like roast beef, sandwiches, and just good fast casual food in general.
Had my first 4way. Bbq sauce, mayo, cheese and onion rings. Service was straightforward, walk up to the counter and order. Seating is limited here. The sandwich was really good. Piled high rare roast beef that was tender. Good amount of sauce to flavor the beef. It's a messy goodness.
In Woburn for the night and wanted Roast Beef. Pete's had the best Yelp reviews so that was my choice. Small mostly takeout place with about 4 tables inside and a few more outside. Steady stream of takeout customers at 8pm on a Monday. Walked right up to the counter and with a little help from the gentleman behind it I ordered the Big Beef Dinner Plate (Three-Way) that comes with a very large sandwich, onion rings, and fries. I also ordered a 20 oz soda. The food came out fairly quickly and the onion rings and fries were piping hot and straight from the fryer. Upon opening the box the smell made me start salivating and after taking my couple obligatory photos I attacked the Big Beef sandwich. 8-10oz of perfectly cooked roast beef on an onion roll with (Three-Way) cheese, mayo & bbq sauce. I destroyed that sandwich in the blink of an eye. By then the onion rings and fries had cooled. I polished off the onion rings and about 3/4 the fries before I realized what a glutton I was and finally ceased the carnage. A pack of rabid wolves probably couldn't have eaten that as quickly as I did. Great service, large portions, and super flavorful. With tax total was $23.94 I'd eat here again!
It's been almost 2 weeks since I stopped at Pete's and I cannot get the 3 way wrap out of my mind. The super 3 way Sammy on an onion roll was excellent but that wrap stole my heart.

God help us. The roast beef sandwich is unbelievable... My husband and I got off a plane at Logan from South Carolina and immediately drove here. Our first stop was not to see family and friends, but to get roast beef!! I got the 3-way junior beef while my husband got the super beef, however they seemed almost the same size to me. The texture of the beef is so silky smooth that I don't think you need teeth to eat it. That along with the tangy sauce, cheese and mayo combo, it all just melts in your mouth. I couldn't stop eating it even after I was full! Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to one of these sandwiches. Your arteries might get clogged but your tastebuds will be beyond satisfied ;) read more

The roast beef sandwich was spectacular. Roast beef was cooked perfectly and assembled in a manner that made it easy to eat without turning into a huge mess. I see why people flock here. The chicken cutlet roll was equally delicious. Happy we took a little detour out of our way to try this place. Will definitely be back. read more
The best roast beef in MA. As someone who lives in NYC, access to a solid beef is not something you find easy. So when I find myself in Boston, I want the best. Pete's is the best. Best meat, flavor, presentation, and overall quality. This is old school done right and doesn't need any special gourmet BS. read more

When near the Northshore I'm up for a roast beef sandwich that I can't find where I live First visit to Pete's Roast Beef My guest ordered the Big Beef with Mayo - looks good piled high I ordered the super beef - 5 way add $2.00 (consists of - American cheese, mayo, horseradish, onion rings and James River BBQ sauce. Of course this sandwich is expected to be messy - the roast beef was unseasoned- a little salt and pepper and less sauce would have been a better choice for me . Other places there is no charge to add sauce to a sandwich Cheese is always additional we split a small french fry $5.99 - they were tasteless bland 2 20oz bottles of soda Total was $38.00 On the way out we each grabbed a slice of hot pizza- 2 slices $5.68 Pizza was ok, rather undercooked doughy - maybe because this was a slice pie that sits until sold by the slice I think I'll keep trying the Beefs in the Northshore to find my favorite read more

I have visited this location approx. 4 times in the last year. I finally had my camera with me to take some pictures and write a yelp! I am a fan of this location for many reasons. The food has been great, the customer service is awesome and the timing in getting the food out is perfect. On this day, I arrived after calling my order in. As usual, it was ready. The phone was ringing off the hook as I got my roast beeft plate and sat down. They have a wide selection of Coke products to choose from. My sandwich was a roast beef with mustard and pickle. I had a mix of fries and rings along with it. Everything was perfect. Not too hot and not too cold on the fries and rings and the sandwich was loaded with just the right amount of warm roast beef. Located on Winn St in Woburn....there is plenty of places to park...fast service (especially if you call ahead)....Closed on Sunday....pricing is very fair 5-stars for sure! read more

I have always heard about the mythical 'Roast Beef sandwich shop' in Boston's surrounding suburbs. Given that the average resident of 'just outside' Boston looks 20 - 30 years older than their actual age ... a healthy diet isn't quite something folks from Woburn, Tewksbury, North Reading, etc. are known for. And health food, this is not. Inside looks like any family pizza shop you'll find in Massachusetts. Stuck in the 1990's, formica everywhere, high order counter and close quarters. It's dated ... but spotlessly clean. Nowhere you'd want to sit and eat. Most people sitting at the tables are waiting for their order. They had slice pies (a rarity in these parts!) which looked pretty unremarkable. Thin crust, uninspired cheese and greasy, flat pepperoni. I opted for the highly talked about Roast Beef sandwich. A sandwich Arby's wished it was. A few tips: - Cheese is 75 cents extra. And for that you get a single slice of unmelted white American cheese. I was hoping for orange cheese sauce. This would be 100 times better with tangy Cheese Whiz. - The sandwich comes dry. I thought it would have some kind of sauce on it. Without sauce it's bland. Pay 75 cents and get the sauce. I think sauce make or break for the sandwich. If only they had horseradish sauce! (Arby's for the win here.) - Ask for an onion roll. I did not know this and got a non-descript sesame roll. Why wouldn't a sesame roll come standard? Why why why? The roll is perfectly browned on the grill with a light layer of butter or mayo to give it a light crisp and saltiness. - The beef itself is like the center of a steak. It's on the bland side and could use sauce or seasoning. But it is moist, tender and sliced paper thin and piled high. I will admit, you can't find roast beef sliced this thin and moist anywhere else I've been in the country. The texture is so strange, in a good way. - The Large (says Large on the menu board ... counter guy called it Regular ... it's basically the middle size) is perfectly adequate for most humans. The Sasquatch-sized Super Size sandwich shoild come with a tool for you to make another hole in your belt. Here, the sizing is true. I am a big guy with a big appetite and the Large was the perfect size for me. The bottom line ... the sandwich in its plain form is like a Nissan with no features, bells or whistles. Barely worth driving. Add some upgrades ... onion roll ... BBQ sauce ... and you're talking fun to drive. Why THESE all don't come standard is beyond me! $10.75 for a large sandwich + $1.50 for cheese and sauce ... and suddenly this is not so cheap. Add $4 fries and now you're talking a $15 meal. Suggestions to the owners ... Horseradish sauce, orange cheese whiz vs. white American slice ... onion roll as standard. And THEN ... shut up and take my money! We go from Woburn famous to World Famous sandwiches! read more

I first found Pete's after moving to Woburn in 2012, for many years Friday night was calzone night at my house. Then we started to try some of their other items, like delicious marinated steak tips with salad, awesome Pizza and a staple in our house a chicken finger sub, three way (bbq sauce, mayo, American cheese) with bacon (we just call it "the sub"). It's amazing. On top of that, they sling award winning roast beef sandwiches. Honestly the best beef & sub shop in Woburn in my opinion & there's a lot of sub shops here. read more

Came here on a whim and it was a solid choice. I have heard of this place and really needed to try the beef. I got a junior roast beef 3 way, my go to and I went with a pizza roll on the side. This thing was massive, and it looked like they grilled the bun on the in and outside which was a nice touch and something I haven't seen yet. I have had my fair share of Northshore beef, and this was one of the best. The sauce, cheese, to mayo ratio was on point with that perfectly grilled bun. It was a little rarer than what I typically like, but it was still top notch, and the meat was tender without being too chewy. The pizza roll was crunchy and a nice side snack. My sister got a beef and an order of mozzarella sticks and fries. Both were great apps. The staff was friendly, and we didn't wait long for our meal despite the rush when we walked. I will definitely be back to try some other items on their menu! read more
