They are kind, professional and caring. They take good care of their customers and are careful with their work. The mechanics and the owner are always looking out and respect the loyalty you give to them. When I called for an appointment but wasn't able to make it on time, they called me the following Monday to check on me. They offer to drive me back to my house and pick me up when they have my car. The owner did research for my vehicle to know what is recommended as far as standard maintenance. They don't push anything on you that is 100% necessary and give you a timeline for when it will be. They will also call around and try to get you the parts for the best price possible. They truly care for their clients.

EXCELLENT SERVICE!!!…read more So I typically don't go outside the dealer for any repairs however, I felt like I needed to go immediately as I thought I had a nail in my tire. When I get there, I automatically assume there's a nail in my tire and ask them to plug it. The gentleman checked the tire and told me I didn't have a nail and if I was still having problems- to bring it back. I ended up bringing it back the next day because it sounded like something was in my tire. When I got there, another guy took my car, drove it around the block and then put my car on the lift. It was determined that I had a dent in my rim so they said they would check for rims and call me back. The kicker is - when they put my car on the lift and spun the wheels, whatever was in the tires fell out (not actually in the tire but somewhere in between). I no longer heard a noise- so I told the guy and asked him how much - he was super humble and said I didn't owe him anything because they didn't repair anything. My dealer !!!?? Wanted $250 just to LOOK at it. Because of that one noble gesture - they found a new client in me! They tell you what you need to- don't try to rip you off or overcharge you - this is an honest establishment/ I would definitely recommend!

I started going to Jim's Automotive Center a couple of years ago when my previous mechanic retired…read more There are several auto repair shops along Port Reading Ave, but I chose to try Jim's because of a recommendation from my BFF, who had used Jim's business for decades, and because his shop is very near my home. I haven't gone anywhere else since. There's an old saying that a business client can have a job done accurately, on time, and cost-effectively--but the client can only have two out of the three factors. I found Jim's to be an exception to that "rule." When I bring my car in, I know it will be fixed accurately, on time, and at a reasonable price. He and his workers know their stuff and they stay up to date. They don't have to google what kind of "pheromanic matrix" I need for my "F1ZL" or whether my old "kiolacteral maneuvering cable" has to be replaced now or if it'll last another 5000 miles. They already know. (They also don't try to fool me with those obviously fake "parts".) I have also appreciated Jim's ability to keep to a schedule. If I'm told that my car needs 48 hours in the shop, it really does. If it needs more, Jim will call me to keep me posted. If my job can't be rushed, he won't. Finally, I want to add that I've found Jim's pricing to be reasonable. He's neither the cheapest nor the most expensive. He's treated me fairly, he's honest--and he and his staff are friendly. They even remember my name. Jim's Automotive Center is not located in a fancy new building. In fact, his parking is a gravel strip in front of the facility. But his auto center at 779 Port Reading Ave. is googleable and searchable.

The guys there were super helpful especially Mack, who answered all of my questions. It was upsetting having to find out I had to leave my car in NJ for several days due to a hold up on the parts (no fault to Pep boys) but Mack and the rest of the staff kept me up to date on the progress of the car while it was there and did all they could to get it repaired as soon as they could. Since they were so nice and helpful I even asked that they perform an oil change since my car was already in the shop. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area. I live in Brooklyn but I may just go back to have some other repairs because of how great their service was and they were also SUPER helpful in working out a better price for me. Thank you guys!!!

Ben Green(claims to be the manager) says that they only do patches, until I showed him the tire. He, then, began mumbling about being fired for the use of a plug. The number he gave me was simply to get a tow by Pep Boys. The poorest of customer service I've received in a long time! PS: On my receipt, Ronald Hernandez Is listed as the manager.
