Honestly, didn't know anything about this place, but someone had referred me so I decided to try it out. Little worried at first because I saw a lot of reviews involving Volvos and saw a couple of Volvos parked out front. But Lisa was amazing and very friendly. Just when I thought customer service was lacking, she was great and got my car back the next day and ended up being lower priced then originally quoted. Can't say enough about how amazing the customer service, transparent pricing and honest advice of how to maintain your car is. What other shop do you get a lift to a Starbucks to wait for your service and then once the car is ready you get surprised that you have a ride back to the shop. I have had mechanic anxiety. Worst customer service ever. If I could give them 0 stars I would. We took our Jeep into Peter's Auto Works to get some work done. Earlier that day we taken the car to Auto Zone to have the codes checked and I had reiterated to Lisa what codes appeared. Lisa said they didn't need the paper work from Auto Zone and would do their own check. They never ran the codes and installed more parts than then were needed. There was no communication to me on the installation of the additional parts outside of them calling to see if we wanted them to clear the code, which was an additional $45. They called to say the car was finished without verifying the work they did fixed the issue. Less than 1 mile down the road the check engine light came back on and it started missing again / riding rough. We called them to talk about the issue we were experiencing and they were very argumentative and belligerent. We are now out $1400 and we still have the same issue that we took it in for. Needless to say we will never be returning here or recommending Peter's Auto Works to anyone due to their horrible customer service. read more

My experience at this shop was nothing short of amazing. I'm extremely thankful for help I received. My car was there for a few days for some work - he never tried to upsell or tell me I needed work that I didn't. I picked my car up Thursday afternoon and Friday evening my car gushed a bunch of coolant (which had nothing to do with the work that had been done at the shop) when I called at 5:45pm he remembered me and helped to explain and instruct me on what to do then invited me back to his shop right then for him to take a look. By the time I got there it was after 6pm and he took care of whatever happened to my (2010) Volvo, topped off the coolant, didn't charge me a dime, and gave me some further advice before sending me on my way. As long as I have a Volvo I will be returning to Peter's. read more

It's not often that I walk out of a car maintenance appointment and think, 'hey, that was alright'. That's pretty much happened like, never...until today. Jim Fisher Volvo had over a week wait for just an oil change and I promised myself never to go to Herzog-Meyer so I ended up googling Volvo service centers in the area and found Peter's. Gave them a ring and they told me to come right over. The office is pretty small but the service center are is pretty decent sized. The service was stinkin quick (check-up, oil change and find out why the check engine light was on). They gave me a run-down of what was broken and let me know what was really necessary and what was purely optional. Great office staff too. Friendly and laid back. On my way out I realized the check engine light was still on (because one of my rear lights was out) and they decided to just replace it for free while I was there. What? Free? Like, no money? The good people at Peter's always exceed my expectations. They take care with my vehicle, provide a very thorough explanation of what their recommendations are, and I've never had any issues post-service (well, once I did but they honored their service guarantee and replaced an air sensor a second time free of charge). The last time I was in Lewis even explained the detail of the "alternative" approach they took with my Jetta's transmission flush due to their equipment limitations (not actually a limitation however, more just a different approach); it's those small things, their reasonable prices (at least less than a "stealership"), friendly staff, trust that they have built with me over the last 7+ years I've been taking my cars there for service, rides back to my office (very convenient!) and their expertise that keeps me coming back! I feel confident that my car is in great working order, which is a great feeling of assurance. I have and will continue to recommend Peter's to friends, family and co-workers. And I always say - they are experts and can service ALL cars, not just Volvo! :) read more

While it's true that the prices at Peter's are on the high end, they have in the end saved me a tremendous amount of money on multiple Volvos. First was my very very sad '96 850 which I'd purchased for what little money I had several years back, and had not been able to afford to maintain well. I got a great price on an oil change plus inspection ... an inspection which, of course, yielded about $6000 in things that weren't quite right. But thanks to the excellent communication skills of Brian and Chris, they understood my position and helped me narrow it down to a couple hundred bucks that would keep the car safe and legal and some possibility that the wheels wouldn't fall off in the next year. Then it was time to replace that car, and they gave me excellent advice on which model to look for within my price range, and where to look. I couldn't afford their $100+ prepurchase inspections, but I brought two cars in for simple inspections at about $50, which gave me enough information to decide whether to buy the cars. They also taught me enough about the 850/S70 models that I could spot common problems before bringing cars in for an inspection. Given the chance, if you have a big estimate and have to triage the repairs, I would speak to both Chris and Brian. One is much more conservative than the other on what he feels are "necessary"; I won't say one is right and the other is wrong, just that it's neat to get more than one opinion in the same shop, to help decide where to start. read more

I am a Volvo. Well, almost. I ride in a Volvo so I guess I am a Volvo? Any who, this place was highly recommended to me by great owners of Volvo past. They are friendly,trustworthy, very knowledgeable, and straight forward. I mean, really can anyone find all of this in one auto shop? I have come here the last two and half years. From oil changes to regular check ups and diagnosis. Each visit has been highly satisfactory. The service is great too. Everyone is very friend and they have a puppy!! She is the cutest little husky I have ever seen. So docile and friendly, I mean if you consider sleeping friendly. Any ways, highly recommend it for the really Volvo owners. read more

I have been to Peter's in the past and been happy. I think I even wrote a good review somewhere or another. That has changed. Upselling is king around there now. I am told they have a new service manager. I went in for an oil change. First thing they did was try to sell me an engine oil flush. Then called and said that I needed a front brake job. said the brakes were down to 2mm. Quoted me $1800 but it might only be $1000. Seemed like too much for front end brakes, so I took it to a dealer's shop. Job was going to be $600, but I didn't need it. The brake pads were at 4mm so they still had some life on them. Either they miraculously healed themselves, the dealer's shop was lazy and didn't need to make money any more, or Peter's was mistaken. Gentle reader, I'll let you decide. I don't know much about cars newer than about 1975, so I have to have a shop I can trust. Peter's used to be that shop. It isn't anymore. Sad, disappointing, but there it is. read more

They were very accommodating in getting my car in on that Friday, and had it ready to go by Tuesday! I had absolutely incredible help at Peter's Auto Works. I had purchased a car that they had been servicing, and an incredible guy named Brian talked on the phone with me for 20 minutes letting me know anything that I needed to know about the history of the car and anything that might need to be worked on. I called ahead to get an appointment, but was pleaseantly surprised that they could see me right away. Lewis was very polite and engaging while writing down every concern I had for my vehicle. I decided to wait for my vehicle and in not time I was back on the road problem solved. Next time Im in, I am picking up the free plate cover and will receive $5 dollars off every service as long as the cover stays on my vehicle. I highly recommend this shop even if you do not own a Volvo. I dont , I drive an Escalade Ext. I will be telliing my friends and family. Peter's Auto Works has earned my trust through multiple positive, friendly, and professional experiences. When I visited with concerns about a stuck window, concerned that the fix would be major, Tom double checked the door motor and got it working without a repair. $32 worth of fluids and labor later, I was out the door with a fixed window and the knowledge that Peter's takes care of their customers regardless of what might be the most profitable option. When I returned two weeks later with more serious mechanical concerns, Patrick recognized me and was happy to set a time to check out the vehicle. I dropped it off the next morning and they even gave me a ride to and from work! Patrick expained the scenario I was facing, gave me exact estimates for the best and worst case diagnoses, and I was charged for exactly what I agreed to. Lewis even took the time to explain to me that my particular model of Volvo was prone to issue and that based on its service history, I should start looking for a new vehicle. They are qualified to deal with your car needs. That said, they can do work that you want done, but they will make you overpay for it. Plus, they seem to find any extra work that they could potentially do to get more out of you. After getting some work done, they made it seem like my car was in horrible condition and would need thousands of dollars to turn it around. This was definitely not the case and a red flag for me. Further, when they took my car for a test spin before doing maintenance, they barely drove it a mile. Most quality places I go to take your car for a few miles on a test run. If you can, try to find another shop, but they will still manage in a pinch. read more

I have to say these people deserve the good review they got. The repair was an issue that was pretty minor, although it was still causing the car to die. Used to love it when Peter owned it, but had a stuck sunroof and what a fiasco! They tried to tell me it might be this motor or that motor, and if we change it and it doesn't work, you'll be out the $700 cause the extended warranty co. Won't cover it. So I called my extended warr. co and they said to take it to the dealer. I did so after Peter's had had it for 4 days and they said it was the sunroof motor (duh!) and it was completely covered. I had a common problem. Clogged sunroof drain plugs resulting in gallons of water draining into my floorboards. The first time, March 2015, I paid the $700 to have repaired. Less than two years later it reoccurred, December 2016, after a drive back from Medford in a driving rainstorm. Patrick at Peter's told me it is a common maintenance issue. I asked him if I could do the repair. He said it would take me all day to remove the a-pillars as it takes his technician an hour and a half. I decided to "you tube" it since he said it was a common problem. Well, there are 2 bolts per a-pillar. How long does it take to remove 4 bolts? Certainly not all day nor an hour and a half. We have been taking our XC90 there for at least 8 years. Never again. read more

Prepare yourself for sticker shock if you go here. The prices appear no better than the dealer. My experience was their customer approach was to find as many things wrong as possible and load up the estimate. I found the overall attitude toward the customer to be condescending. I asked for help to triage and prioritize repairs due to budget constraints but got no sympathy. read more
