After the first-ever visit with this doctor I obtained a copy of the visit notes that he put in the medical record system for Saint Luke's, a very large corporation with many hospitals and clinics. I've been a Saint Luke's patient for many years and have been satisfied overall, until now. With this new doctor, I have NEVER SEEN so many errors in any medical document! In my opinion, the doctor wasn't listening or has a very poor memory. Some things were the opposite of what was discussed. One statement in particular was so off-base that I'm concerned it could adversely affect the medical care I receive in the future. The concern is that any physician, having read these visit notes, might have an incorrect or skewed foundational view, which might adversely affect decisions on medical care.
I then spoke with this doctor on the phone. He explained away/justified himself, then said that he would not remove or change the incorrect and misleading statements. He said the visit notes are his way to recall patient information for the next visit. But if the notes are wrong, what good are they? Then the doctor, with suspicion, asked how I had obtained a copy of the visit notes. (This document is available to any patient who submits a form requesting a copy of their records.) He said he'd now add to the official record that we had spoken about this... and now I'm concerned about what other falsehoods might be put in the record.I filed a complaint with Saint Luke's and will not use this doctor again. I considered looking for another St Luke's primary care doctor, however, I am so disappointed with the PCP's I have tried. I found a better doctor outside of the Saint Luke's healthcare system. read more
