As soon as I walked in, I found a clean, bright, and welcoming lobby. I asked about their wing flavors and was surprised to learn that they don't deep-fry their wings in oil. Instead, they run them through the oven twice. My first thought was: less grease! I ordered BBQ wings and a pizza for the kids. In less than 15 minutes, my order was ready. They also gave me homemade ranch, Parmesan cheese, and crushed red pepper for the pizza. The employees were incredibly friendly, helpful, and greeted me with big smiles. But the best part came on the way home. I have to confess--the wings smelled so good that I couldn't resist eating a few while I was driving! They were absolutely delicious and wonderfully crispy. The flavor somehow reminded me of the rotisserie chicken I loved when I was a kid. It brought back one of those flavors you never really forget. What a wonderful experience I had at Pizza Patrón. It's one of those extended stay-type hotels where your room has a full kitchen including a full-size fridge, freezer, and stovetop. Basically, an apartment. Staybridge is your run-of-the-mill hotel that does the job. It's affordable, comfortable, and clean. Not luxurious or anything but you get a lot of bang for your buck. There's free parking. There's free breakfast every day. And more than just cereal, yogurt, and bagels with cream cheese. They also had warm food including a Texas-shaped waffle maker, eggs, and more. Service was friendly. They even have a social hour at the hotel on certain nights with some freebies. And last but not least, a complimentary shuttle to get you to the airport. If you're looking for a convenient place to stay close to the airport, this is a great option. Just don't expect there to be a lot to do in the area. It's not the nicest part of town so stick around at the hotel and enjoy your stay.

The manager found my ID card and credits cards but instead of returning the items, they decided to discuss an unpaid invoice for the wedding with me. I was so confused as to why on earth they were discussing this invoice with me. The manager implied that my belongings couldn't be returned unless the invoicr was paid. I ended up calling the cops to get them to agree to return my items and when I went to pick them up, the manager (Lidia) handed me a phone with the owner on the other side who kept talking about this unpaid invoice. I kept telling him and her that I was just a guest and had nothing to do with this invoice but they kept demanding that this invoice be paid. I ended up calling the cops again and then finally the manager returned my items. I would never attend another wedding at this venue or ever book with them.

Roaches in the Room - No Accountability from Staff or Management…read more I checked into the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Houston North - IAH Area on June 2, 2025 around 11pm. The room had a damp, moldly smell, however, many Houston hotels developed mold issues after the hurricane and never addressed them, so I tried to ignore the scent. However, at 5 AM the next morning, I woke up to roaches crawling on my personal items, on my leftover food, on the hotel furniture. Everywhere. I was completely horrified. I shook out my clothes and immediately packed up my things and went to the front desk to report the issue. I spoke with a staff member named Ricardo, who seemed completely unbothered and not the least bit surprised. When I told him there were roaches in the room, his only response was "oh." I asked him if he knew this, he said we don't have anything noted for "that room". Huh?!?!? So you clearly KNOW there is a roach problem in here! And roaches don't discriminate by room number. If you have them, you have them everywhere! I asked about the refund process and explained I was leaving due to the clear sanitation issue. He told me the manager, Maria, would be in at 7 AM and would call me. I asked for her card as well as for the district or regional managers information. He gave me a card, the name Tanya, and said he could provide nothing else. Maria never called. I tried reaching her by phone on both June 3rd and 4th and was denied the opportunity to speak to her each time. No apology, no refund, and no follow-up. The complete lack of accountability from both staff and management was unacceptable. I paid for a clean and safe place to sleep and instead had to deal with a health hazard and indifference. I would strongly caution anyone considering a stay here, if something goes wrong, don't expect support or resolution.

The event was definitely a celebration of hair, beauty, fashion, creativity, and entrepreneurship. There were so many vendors to explore, from hair and beauty products to makeup, accessories, jewelry, clothing, and other unique finds. I especially enjoyed walking around, discovering different brands, seeing some of the creative displays, and just taking in all of the talent in the room. There was also plenty happening throughout the day, including live demonstrations, panels, competitions, and presentations on the main stage. I loved that the event wasn't just about shopping. There were opportunities to learn, connect, network, and see what different beauty professionals and entrepreneurs are bringing to the industry. And of course, the people watching and fashion were a whole experience by themselves! I even had to get into the spirit with my own statement hat! Overall, I had a really good time. It was colorful, creative, and full of Black beauty and entrepreneurship. I walked away with some new brands on my radar and enjoyed seeing so many people showcasing their talents and businesses.
