There's a huge open parking lot in the back and free. Service was really good it came out pretty fast. Everything seemed fresh. Plenty of seating inside with big open windows and a bar as well. Some dishes were good one or two we questioned. The curry pancake one definitely don't get it's just batter. The curry flounder definitely recommend. I think it's a good experience to try once but I dont think it wowd me enough to go back.
1.31.26 Their Peking duck is simply perfection. The skin is beautifully crispy, the meat tender, and the pancakes are thin, soft, and never dry. This is the only restaurant I've been to where the pancake‑to‑duck ratio actually makes sense. They also include a complimentary duck soup with the order, though it wasn't my favorite. Hubby ordered the Mongolian beef and really enjoyed it. They're generous with the meat, though he felt the dish had a bit too many onions. Our server was wonderful--attentive, friendly, and checked on us often. My only complaint was the table next to us. The group was extremely loud and obnoxious, which definitely took away from the experience. Thankfully, service was quick, so we didn't have to endure it for long.
I like this location compared to College Park. Recently did their unlimited dim sum brunch to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was a large group so reservations were necessary! Our server, Aaron was great! Very knowledgeable and patient with our party of 8! I don't eat pork and was thinking I won't have enough to choose from but that was not the case! Their menu is expansive and everyone got to order different dishes. My favorites were the scallion bubble pancake with a side of curry sauce (a must try) and the grandma noodles. We ordered a few dishes outside of the dim sum menu. The fried rice was a hit! Everyone has to participate in the bottomless dim sum! At $36/person, it's definitely worth it. They offer a mimosa or bellini at $6/each drink. Most of our group got the bellinis. I believe the dim sum brunch option is only offered Saturdays and Sundays! Be mindful when ordering! There's no taking food home from the dim sum menu. There's also a disclaimer on their menu that they reserve the right to charge for wasted food! Overall a great experience and I would come back for the bottomless dim sum!
It's a popular Chinese restaurant. The food was pretty authentic and tasty, but the service was minimal. It was crowded but it wasn't noisy.
Came for the all you can eat dim sum on a Sunday morning at opening. Hours for the AYCE is 11-3pm. There were fewer dim sum options than I was expecting but the staples were there: sui mai and ha gao. For $36 pp, you can order some things that are on the regular menu as well. The pea shoots were excellent. You could easily get your moneys worth with that and the soup dumplings! May try the duck set menu next time!
We stopped by during out restaurant hopping night. For the price, we weren't so impressed with the food. Soup dumplings were pretty dried and not enough juice. Hot n sour soup was average. Crispy pork was pretty good in my opinion. Service was quick and friendly.
Hi Yelpers, I was in Columbia for my birthday and decided to grab lunch with my little girls and I looked on Yelp and found Peter Chang. The host was very warm and we were escorted to our seats. The first thing I noticed was the table keep sliding away which was really annoying. Basically it had no resistance to the floor from keeping it from not moving back and forth. I was going to ignore this until my 5 year old mentioned how the table was bothering her because one little lean on the table and it moves. We table on the table by the glass window directly in front of the Bar. We ordered Mangolian Beef, Orange Chicken, combination fried rice, steam dumplings and General So ( OMG I forgot the spelling please forgive me). I found the dishes we ordered to be way salty. Except the Rice and Steamed Dumplings which were very nice. The vibe was nice and my server Dan was fantastic. The food was just too salty. If you like Salty food then go for and I would definitely recommend the place but if you don't like salty food then skip.
I took my mom here for a light lunch of Peking duck and soup dumplings. The Peking duck is a solid choice, especially bc it was served with a vegetable tofu soup with duck bone broth, I also like that the duck was crispy, served with cucumbers, scallions and hoi sin sauce.
I've been to Peter Chang several times over the years and I think something in the kitchen must have changed because some of the entrees (mala beef, mapo tofu) are much saltier and some are very lackluster in flavor or stale (popcorn shrimp). The only consistent menu item is their peking duck and the soup that comes with it, which both taste great. The service is attentive and kind, which is always appreciated. Other than that, I don't think I'd recommend this restaurant anymore unless you have a serious craving for peking duck.
This is my favorite Chinese restaurant that is relatively local. I've loved everything I've gotten and crave Grandma's Noodle regularly. My daughter and I frequent this place for our Mommy/Daughter dates and today we tried their all you can eat menu for the first time and it did not disappoint. There were so many delicious options, we tried 13 dishes and all were good, but 10 of them for absolute 10 out of 10! Definitely get the scallion bubble pancake, the soup dumplings - yes! Crispy pork belly is addictive (not on ayce menu but they do have spicy crispy chicken which is amazing) and Today's most fun surprises were the Sour cabbage chili shrimp & pork wonton - crazy good and the Black and gold egg custard bun - wow! Just wow!
Peter Changs is fire! I came here on Saturday with my family for lunch and we got the AYCE which is actually a deal we found on their IG account, but not on the website. There was a wide variety of small dishes, street food, and dim sum to choose from. While I was experimenting with the hot & spicy pigs feet (which was unexpected fire), my family played it a little more safe with different soups, and dumplings. We also ordered 1/2 of a peking duck, which wasn't on the AYCE menu, but is definitely a must try. A few of my favorites were the... Hot & Spicy Chicken, This dish slaps. Small fried pieces of chicken with big big flavor. Braised Pork Knuckle W/ Bean Paste: It's like the best pork & beans you'll ever have in your life. My only complaint is that I didn't ask for rice. I could've eaten this on rice all day and been happy. Grandma's Noodle: Homemade noodles tossed in pepper oil, simple, but Fire! Mala Beef Brisket Noodle: Basically brisket noodle soup, extra fire! I also tried the Braised Pork W/ Baby Abalone Skewers, but then I googled Abalone. I didn't like the sauce as much as other dishes. The abalone reminded me of a tough scallop or calamari. The Sweet Glazed Pork Belly, was really sweet, and may have been my least favorite of the day, but with so many other options, I wasn't mad. Everything ain't for everybody. We also got 6 dollar mimosas with of AYCE and so we did...lol The thing that I liked the most was getting a chance to try so many different types of food. I'm always telling my kids to try new things, and this was the perfect place for them to experiment while still having other options that were more familiar. The staff here was fast and friendly, and with reservations, we had almost no wait between arriving and being seated. Other guest that walked in were having to wait to be called. all that aside, Peter Changs is Fire!!!
Very good Sichuan restaurant. My husband and I come here often. The dishes are pretty good, and many are spicy. Ask the waiter to adjust the spice or numbing factor if you wish. There are vegetarian options for those who prefer. We enjoy the Kung Pao chicken, the Mongolian beef, and the fried rices. We weren't super impressed by the Shrimp in Pepper sauce. They have a well stocked bar. Service is always friendly and helpful. Front staff always greets. Very small dining area so snag a reservation prior to coming out, especially on busy weekends. There is outdoor seating during warmer weather, which opens up more dining space. Give them a try!
Came here for their AYCE dimsum experience. Highlights of the meal were the bubble scallion pancake, sweet potato sesame balls, and mala brisket noodles. The other noodle and dimsum dishes were just okay. Overall everything came out quick and tasted good, but not sure it was worth the ayce experience.
PCv2 I'm at Peter Changs on Cinco de Mayo and they were upsell tequila at no extra charge...SCORE! The margaritas were on point. Who needed a Mexican margarita when PC does them just as well. I ordered the cilantro fish appetizer, for the second time. This time my experience was better. The batter was much more airy and light much like a tempura. This time I enjoyed them. But the DUCK is off the chartz! Peking Duck rivaled my best Singapore experience. That's what I was hoping for and PC didn't disappoint. This entree alone has put them back into the full time rotation of places to venture to for dinner. read more

The staff was amazing. We entered in the restaurant at around 9:15 when they usually close at 9:30. They didn't tell us no, they asked us to place our order real fast so they can get us the food right away. Probably one of the fastest services I've had. The place looks minimalistically simple and not much going on but the food is great. We had the eggplant fries and it is easily the best dish on their menu for a vegetarian. They also confirmed with us no fish sauces, no eggs, no beef/meat sauces in our vegetarian choices. The numbing peppers in ma po tofu is great but their fried rice are instant hit. They go well with any of the other entrees but can be enjoyed on their own as well. One thing they could improve on is the pricing for the amount that is being provided but other than that, I would definitely come back again. read more
Really bad quality food, especially if you consider their price :( was looking forward to Peter Chang opening in Merriweather.. very disappointed.. service is good and the ambiance is nice (upscale Chinese place). But, for this $$$, would rather go eat at lao sze chuan. We tried two small plates and an entree. Crispy pork belly: is this actually pork belly? More like crispy all purpose flour with a hint of pork. Fried eggplant: way too bland - needed more salt / spice. Scallop and shrimp entree: the biggest shocker... $35 for what looks like a small frozen shrimp & MEH scallops. Doesn't taste like anything (again, bland). If I made this at home, would be 1/4 the price AND taste better. Not to mention, this dish is what our server recommended :/ I only give two stars because they do have daily HH which is nice... but even with the HH discount, I don't know if I will go back. Hoping they step it up. read more

We went last night for dinner with reservations! We ordered a lot as we wanted to try a little of everything. We did the bubble scallion pancake and it was definitely Instagram worthy but just okay taste wise. The pork dumplings we got were pan fried and they were delicious. They came with the classic sauce and another one that was good but we weren't sure what it was. The grandmas noodles were our least favorite. The taste was sweet but spicy? We weren't impressed. But partly our problem because there was no description on the menu and we didn't ask for information. We also ordered the kung pao chicken which was sooooo good. Very flavorful, great pieces of chicken! Definitely would get again. The star of the night was the half duck. We had never ordered it before and the man who delivered the food showed us how to eat it. Oh my gosh soooo flavorful. Wish we just got the full duck! I got a mai tai ($15 yikes) and R got a Sapporo beer that the bartender poured in a glass for him but didn't give him the full pour out of the glass which was odd. We wish we ordered the apps first instead of as they come out because everything was SO QUICK. But we can't wait to come back. read more
Food was hot and fresh (We had the triple Lo mein and sweet and sour chicken) Odd that we had to pay for rice to come with my entree but Tea didn't have much flavor Merriweather area has good free parking Decent prices and service I like that we were able to make a reservation to avoid waiting Worth checking it out read more
Came here on a nice sunny day. The staff was welcoming, warm and very attentive. They asked for a reservation. I didnt have any, but after this review you may need to make some. I was seated outside, great for people watching. The food was on point. Bang bang shrimp w popcorn.. the spicy beef dish I got was good, but warning if you cant handle the heat its not for you. An entree can serves enough to have leftover. Small plate you will eat it all and be fulfilled. Your gonna wanna leave a nice Tip here. I def will come back. read more

Just such an awesome establishment that really makes Panda Express roadkill. And the service was top notch David was very helpful as he was always making sure we're okay then the food was also super awesome as the taste of the sweet and sour was crispy but also enough softness. Then the vibe of the whole place just really made it even better as it was just so nice and calm. read more
This place is very cozy, airy, and food is delicious. We were a party of four celebrating a friend's coming home so we ordered all these dishes to share: Eggplant with Spicy Garlic Sauce. Three cup fish. Mapo Tofu. Sweet and Sour Ribs Plate. Seafood fried rice. The most note-worthy and flavorful dishes were the seafood rice and mapo tofu. Visually the eggplant was the most appealing. I think the three cup fish sauce was good but would have been better with chicken as the meat. My friend really loved the ribs as well. Service was efficient but not too frequently visiting the table. I am excited to try their other dishes on our next visit. read more

Heard great things about this place and was definitely pleased. Everything from service to food was really, really good. Higher quality Chinese cuisine at a higher price tag but the portions were good and it was well worth it. Started off with the pork fried dumplings and the shrimp/pork hot chili dumplings. Both were great but the shrimp/pork chili dumplings were one of the best bites I've had in a while, delicious! Then we got crab fried rice, kung pao chicken, beef chow fun, seafood curry pot, and eggplant in garlic sauce. Everything was fantastic, particularly the beef chow fun. Highly recommend this place and will be back! read more

I think I might've found my new favorite to go to Chinese food spot. I will say this is not your takeout food Chinese restaurant prices, but in my opinion the quality is much better. I also love the ambiance, as soon as you come in everyone is super friendly and I love the music that they play. I've been back twice in one week, and I'm already plotting on when I can get back here read more
I am so glad this spot opened up in Merriweather. I love the food and drinks here! Our waiter was so nice and gave us a lot of recommendations on what to order. It was super kid friendly too! I love that they have an outdoor bar section so it's kind of like indoor/outdoor space! read more

Our first time was great. We came around brunch on a Saturday, for the Dim Sum Menu. We enjoyed our food. A little on the pricey side, but this is Columbia and Peter Chang is a well-known name. Ordered the Congee w Pork & Preserved Egg, Chicken Feet, Spareribs, Grandma's Noodles and the famous Scallion Bubble Pancake. All the items came out fast and hot. The chicken feet were a bit dry and bland for our taste. Grandma's Noodles were very tasty - full of garlic and spice. Our favorite was the Bubble with the sauce. If you must try anything on the menu - order the Bubble Pancake. We liked our first experience so much we went again on a Thursday evening for the dinner menu. It was busier than we expected, but we were able to get a table in about 20 minutes. This time, we ordered the Lion's Head Pork Meatball Pan fried Noodles, Chicken Lettuce Wrap, Peking Duck and the Bubble (again). We were excited to try the Chicken Lettuce Wrap because the plating for other tables was so pretty. The taro strips were fried and standing to look like a basket around the chicken. When ours got to our table, it looked... sad and deflated. The flavor was good though. The famous Peking duck was disappointing. Skin was not crispy, meat was dry and cold. The Meatball with the noodles also came cold. We didn't make a fuss because our server was overwhelmed with other tables. Just overall disappointed with our dinner. Both times, our servers were great, friendly and as helpful as they could be. When our dinner server asked how the food was, we voiced our comments, but nothing was done except to apologize because it was busy. Not sure when I will come back to try it out again. Perhaps only for a drink and the Bubble. read more
We went here today for lunch. It was very good. First of all they accomodated our request to be moved to a different table. For very very legit reasons we wanted to be moved. They were so gracious with our request. Their customer service is top tier. Vale was so helpful, she was very attentive when it comes to our needs, always checking in on us. Making sure we are taken care of. Now the food! I am loving the green scallion pancake puff thingy. It was so great! Loved the crispiness of it. And the dipping sauce was actually good. Egg fried rice was delicious, i am not big fried rice eater but this one hits the spot. Pork belky crisps was good too. Soup dumplings was okay, im a big enthusiast of Soup dumplings. This one was good, around 7.5/10 The little black salted egg buns was a fun treat. Shrimp egg rolls was ok. The food came very quickly which was impressive. Overall the whole meal experience was good. All the servers were cvery friendly. We asked one of the servers to take pictures of us. And she did a great job. I forgot to ask her name. But overall it was good. Price point was a bit up there in certain foods but i know the area is kinda high end so prices are very similar to the other restaurants around it. read more

A quick stop at Peter Chang's Columbia location for lunch on a busy Saturday, and it was a great meal. We got the shrimp dumplings and fried rice. Nothing fancy, nothing out of the ordinary, but the taste was great and it was a high-quality experience. If they do this well with the basic staples, I can only imagine what they can do with more complicated or exotic dishes. Putting a pin in this location for a future visit for a larger meal, for sure. If you've been to other Peter Chang locations, you probably have high expectations - Columbia doesn't disappoint at all. read more

Friends and I went to Peter Chang for the first time and it's gonna be our last time!We really wanted to like it but the service was really horrible. We ordered this youlin crispy eggplant. It came out super hard and stuck on our teeth. So we complained to the server. The manager brought the dishes back to our table, told us that was how it was supposed to be. she threw the dish back on our table and told us that we needed to "keep it". Then came the bamboo flounder fish. The batter was so thick and the flavor had curry and weird spices. we didn't enjoy any of the food. But the worst is the service: the manager didn't even take the eggplant off the bill. $18 for a small dish of uneatable eggplant. No, thank you. Never have I come across a manager that was so rude and told us to keep the dish like that. I will not recommend it. read more
I enjoyed Pater Chang, it's probably considered a little upscale and on the pricier side but nothing crazy, and I thought the portions were big enough to justify the price. We got chrysanthemum tea which come with these really cute cups. The soup dumplings were tasty, and the Szechuan chicken and lo mein were good too! Overall a solid place. read more

Came here on an impromptu visit Friday night for dinner with no reservation. We had a 15 min wait for bar seating and service began promptly. Cocktails were excellent and there is a decent variety on the drink menu. Decor is fairly standard for a slightly more upscale Chinese restaurant. The food itself was delicious. We had the lamb cumin stir fry which was spicy and a large portion along with the pan-fried pork. Both were solid and I would order again without hesitation. Overall I would definitely visit this spot again. Food, service, and drinks were all on point. read more

Well, you can't fault folks for being honest. I ordered the bok choy and tofu, and it was... Just bok choy and tofu. That's it. Like, exactly what I could have made at home. And very light on the tofu. It did have a fresh out of the wok kind of taste, which was nice. But it would've benefited a lot if they had drained off some of the liquid. My second picture is what was left on my plate afterward. Another person got sweet and sour chicken. Very heavy on the sweet. And lots of batter. It was tasty, but I felt like I was having my dessert with my dinner in a way. The service was attentive and nice. Overall, it was fine, but I was a little let down after having heard rave reviews. I've been to some of the other restaurants in their group, and they're generally pretty solid. This one is an adequate addition, but didn't really hit the high note for me. read more
Incredible authentic Chinese food in the Columbia area! We ordered a bunch of the appetizers and it was good. The scallion pancake was so good and the dumplings were a good size. I'd recommend calling and making a reservation because they are very busy but having a reservation helped. Definitely a place worth checking out! read more

Overall good experience. We visited during lunch time and took advantage of the lunch specials. The food was good. The service was good. They also had amazing music (think 90s R&B). Please note that they close from 3:00 - 4:30 Monday - Thursday. We came in at 2 and were served but didn't realize this and felt a little rushed at the end. This is noted on their website. The restaurant was very clean and the windows in our booth provided lots of natural light. The pan fried shrimp dumplings were good and came with two sauces one tasted like the traditional dumpling sauce and the other was a sweet tangy sauce. The bang bang shrimp came with popcorn garnish. The shrimp was good, very flavorful but the popcorn was soggy. Wasn't sure the purpose but I think it would be nice if it was on a bed of crispy popcorn. We had the combination fried rice which was good. The hunan beef was very flavorful and tender. The spicy garlic chicken was my favorite dish, it was delicious, slightly sweet, and savory with a bit of a spicy kick, it was perfect. Again overall good experience. Would recommend and will return. read more

What I had was pretty basic but nothing to write home about. The popcorn that was included with the bang bang shrimp was pretty stale, I wish that just didn't include it at all. The shrimp itself was ok, very breaded. I wish they turned down the lights a bit to create a better ambience, it reminded me of a cafeteria when I went inside. read more

Been here 2 other times in the last 3 months. The fried eggplant and Peking duck and the mapo tofu is delicious. The rice, though, you have to ask for it and pay extra for it, has been delicious. On this particular visit, order mapo tofu to go and this time it had bits of broccoli within it?! What? I can't say I've ever had it mapo tofu have anything other than tofu and a little scallions. I didn't care for this version. I don't know if they have a new chef or what. The other times, I ate there and the food was great. This time getting it to go did not live up to expectations. read more
Another one of Columbia's new restaurants and I would put it right at the top of the list. Besides great food and service they separate themselves by being one of the VERY FEW places in the area that accepts reservations. The portions are enough to share, do we just got a few dishes and took the rest home. Go check it out! read more

Whenever I'm in the area, this place is always so busy so a group of friends and I decided to try it out. The restaurant inside is nice and spacious and they also have seating outside. We started with drinks, which were ok. Kind of pricey for the quality of the drink. The appetizers we had were the soup dumplings, calamari and spring rolls. All were very good! For my entree, I ordered the cumin lamb stir fry. I would suggest only ordering this if you LOVE cumin, because it is overwhelming in this dish. I could not taste the lamb flavor at all. I wish I had known this or I would have ordered something else. I'm not sure if I'd come back for dinner, but might stop in for their lunch special which looked like a pretty good deal. read more
