We came here on Thanksgiving Day for lunch because most places were closed and this place was also dog friendly. There are lots of seating near fire pits to stay warm while sitting outside. The menu is very extensive and they have beers for all palates. I went with the fruity beer flight and my partner got his strong ales and a plate of nachos to share. The food portions are so generous here. The meat was well cooked and seasoned and there was plenty of guacamole. The beers were very tasty and they do offer growlers to go. Service was excellent and my dogs were given water bowls which was very much appreciated. Food and drinks came out quickly and we can't wait to come back again soon. Though I've lived in Seaside for many years now, I didn't know about Peter B's until a few weeks ago when one of my friends picked it for our monthly Girls' Night Out. It was a bit tricky to find, being tucked down into the plaza, but once we found it, I was happy with everything! The beet salad was delicious and their garlic fries are amazing... just saying. I came from LA with my partner, and we went on a sailing tour and I needed to use the restroom so at first we walked in just to ask to use the restroom and the nice host said yes so that's already really nice. I ordered a Filet Mignon sandwich and requested medium rare and when it came out it was definitely well done, so I returned it and McKenzie our server was really cool and understanding with me and I ended up getting a (bomb af) club sandwich! I understand that a Medium Rare filet mignon is kind of a hard request because the sandwich would probably be 10 ft tall, so don't worry kitchen I get it! I have zero complaints and wasn't expecting any compensation but we were surprised with McKenzie coming to our table saying sorry for the inconvenience and they took our Brussels and my IPA beer off the tab! I'll say that was nice! They definitely didn't have to but wow, this place goes beyond to have you leaving happy! I wish I lived closer to this place, I'd definitely be a regular. The ambience of the restaurant here is great, with big tables in their outdoor patio as well as seating by your own personal fireplace. Service is also very attentive, no complaints there. However, the food and drinks left something to be desired for. We decided to start with a bowl of the clam chowder to share. The soup was actually quite tasty and we enjoyed this quite a bit. For our mains, my husband got the fish and chips and I went with the margherita pizza. I also decided to get a glass of sauvignon blanc to pair with my meal. I was pretty disappointed with both of the things that I got. The pizza was meh - a little sweet but besides that, pretty bland. I appreciated the soft dough more than the sauce, cheese, or any other toppings that came with it, which is saying something. My white wine was cheap house wine and after having had good wine via wine tasting in Monterey, I couldn't bring myself to finish my drink. My husband enjoyed his dish, although the amount of fish they give you pales in comparison to the sheer overload of fries. This review is only for their happy hour (daily from 4-6:30pm and Sunday-Thursday from 9:30-10:30pm) We stayed at the Portola Hotel right next door and saw that Peter B's had a daily happy hour including some pretty good deals so my family stopped by for a quick snack and drinks. They have a large indoor space with lots of tables and TVs but we opted for outdoor seating next to the fire. Their patio is also pet friendly and we were basically the only table without a four-legged friend. We ordered the Gilroy garlic fries ($4) and the Monterey Bay calamari ($8). The fries had big garlic flavors which we all loved and the dipping sauces were good. I personally liked the calamari more as it was lightly fried with a nice crispy outside but a thick inside. You can tell it was fresh and it was bigger than your typical calamari. They also have craft beer pints and well cocktails for $5 and draft wines and ciders for $6 so their drink specials are pretty good too. Overall it was pretty good and worth the price in a very central location in downtown Monterey. read more

Well. Came in to check out the new renovations. Beer is good. I'm a little bias because I think the brewer is awesome. Service is good. Bartender was attentive. Food?? Super lacking. The cheese curds lost all flavor. The wings were tender. And that's about all I can say. Tried a couple other things that are not even worth a mention. And the ambiance??? Dreadful. It lost absolutely everything that made it unique. Zero coziness. Zero warmth. My boyfriend likened it to an airport bar/cafeteria. That's about right. Although not if you are at Monterey airport. They blow this out of the water. I feel like I lost absolutely everything that brought me here. And I have been coming here for 20 years. I have had birthday Sundays here (I am a football nut). I may come back for a beer. But that's about it. Sorry Peter b's. You took a good thing and completely ruined it. There was room for improvement but you went the opposite direction. You took what was good and tried to see if you could make it bad? I will not recommend this place for anything but a good beer again. Came here to catch a football game on Sunday before heading to Big Sur and the food was surprisingly good. I was slightly hungover (which is very very rare for me) and I wasn't sure if anything on the menu was going to be appetizing. Ordered fried cheese balls, sweet potato tots and Korean short ribs even though I was questioning why I would order Korean short ribs at a pub. It was good. The kimchee was tasty and the short ribs had a really good flavor. It's a really cool spot. The kids meal is a big entree and we had left overs to take home. Beers are good and def will try the other craft beers on my next visit. We're local to Monterey & have went to Peter B's twice in the past month. The food is amazing! We're foodies so can sometimes be tough critics but everything we've tried both times has been so good! The blackened salmon & coconut shrimp are my favorites that we've tried so far. Remel (not sure if I'm spelling correctly) was our server both times & he was great, gave us recommendations on the food & was very attentive with checking on us. Just then, the hostess came walking up, acting like she had no interest in being there or helping us...but she seated us without saying a word and walked away. The waiter arrived soon after, and he was great. We ordered some Brussel sprouts and fried cheese curds for appetizers, and we were not disappointed. For dinner, my friend ordered a calzone and I ordered salmon. Both entrees were disappointing. My friend's calzone was cold inside, and the waiter was kind enough to take it off the bill. My salmon came with a lemon beurre blanc, but it was sooooooo much that the salmon was just a butter-slathered mess, and the mango slaw below was coated with it too. There was also some kale with the mango slaw that was yellowed and wilted, making for such an ugly presentation. The waiter also recognized the issues and mentioned the cook wasn't doing his best work, so he added an extra discount.
