The first one was an authorization to keep a card on file so they can charge any balances automatically up to $1500. I told the receptionist that I would not be doing this since I have been a victim of identity theft. The tablet will not let you decline without logging out so she spoke to a supervisor and they said they would not see me without the authorization to keep a card on file, so I left. When I asked her why my husband didn't need to authorize automatic charges to a card when he had an appointment six days ago, I was told the policy went into effect two days ago. I called two other local eye doctor offices and neither of them keep patient's cards on file so I made an appointment with one of them instead.

Four (4) hours and $20.00 in Gasoline wasted they wanted to waste even more of my time for one of their Optometrists to examine my eyes and tell me how bad they are, ....... which I already know. Can you say Gratuitous? What a complete wast of my time and their time, as well. I told them that I was not going to make another appointment for a month or for several months out. Been there, done that, ....... Too many times. Now, I either go blind, crack up me and my 2023 new Ford truck when I'm driving and a bucket of white paint is suddenly thrown across my windshield and I am "whited out" which no one seems to care about me dying because I have had a bunch of inept, incompetent Physicians where ever and when ever I go to any of them. Or, I can spend the remainder of my natural life searching throughout the country for a competent, real Opthomologist so that I am able to have this much needed surgery on my right eye. Good luck. Because you are going to need it. William Parks (860) 639-6699 bparks1578@aol.com

Are you on Medicare? Are you in need of a standard eye exam so you can get new glasses? Did youR…read moreInsurance company list them as approved for eye test and state what your co-pay would be for the exam? Well, patient beware, you might find the billing practices of these folks to be devious. Let me explain. To start, I will comment on the good. Very modern facility, modern equipment and the medical staff are polite and friendly. If you are in need of Ophthalmology services, this is probably a good facility to work with but I couldn't verify since I was there for a simple eye test. However if your in need of a simple eye exam by a Optometrist and you're on a medicare program BEWARE, YOU MOST LIKELY WILL BE OVERCHARGE! To start, you will find the receptionist has an attitude. Not friendly, physicaly out of shape, no smiles, no room for discussion if you have a concern. It's her way or the highway. You ask to see a manager or some authority, you out of luck, it stops with her. There are not managers or directors for either of the facilities. It's the receptionist...period. So I need an eye test so I can get a new eyeglass prescription. My insurance listed this office as a approved provider and states a co-pay ($15.00 in my case). However this is an Ophthalmology facility and eventhough I am seeing an Optometrist for a standard eye text, they code this as a "Specialist" visit. I note that I'm not seeing a specialist (Ophthalmologist) but a Optometrists. Doesn't matter. She tells me I can go elseware if I don't like it. It's years end, I need to use the benefit ASAP or lose it so I decide to go through with the exam, pay the specialist co-pay ($45.00 in my case) and have my insurance get them to correct to overcharge. Now while I'm waiting for insurance to follow up, I then get an invoice from these guys stating I owe an additional $35.00. Why, because unlike other optometrist offices, these guys pull out components of the exam and bill them as separate services. So my standard eye exam from this office became an higher fee exam ($45.00) plus a $35.00 charge for "a Refraction for the routine exam". So what was described in my insurance plan as a $15.00 co-pay has become an $80.00 expense. I've had four other eye exams provided under medicare, all of them fully inclusive of the services and requiring a $15.00 co-pay. I changed my insurance company this year and my past eye doctor was not in network. No problem, I simply go with who the new office the insurance allows. In this case, BAD DECISION! Based on my experience I am of the opinion these folks are knowingly abusing the system with their billing practices. I suspect most folks don't want to deal with fighting this so they accept the abuse and pay the additional fees. So let me do you a favor...be warned. IF YOU PLAN TO DEAL WITH THESE FOLKS, DON'T RELY ON WHAT YOU PLAN STATES YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR, YOU BEST GET VERIFICATION OF WHAT THEY WILL BILL YOU BEFORE YOU MAKE AN APPOINTMENT.

The first woman who did the preliminary testing of my vision was very professional and pleasant. I saw the gorgeous, Dr. Meghan Kelleman and she was awesome. She took her time and explained things to me thoroughly. She was very good at making sure I was comfortable during the eye testing and she also has a great sense of humor lol. These are all some of the things I look for personally, that make me want to come back to the same medical professionals. Loved it! *The office is very clean and easy to navigate through. *If you want to see Dr. Kelleman, she usually only has afternoon appointments available.

I needed help selecting the frames. I described, generally, what I was looking for. The recommendation I received was spot on. The glasses are high quality. I don't remember being more pleased with a pair of glasses, and the service I received, in the 25 years I've been wearing glasses.

Certainly a nice facility with very modern equipment. I could list a few more positives however I…read moream compelled to share the down sides because I think this office could do a better job if more people would give them constructive feedback. I suspect that the majority of patients they see are not into the social thing so any poor experiences would most likely not be posted. Anyway here is my experience: 1. Professional Staff? Other than the doctor herself and a lab tech, my interaction was with the elaborately decked out adolescent staff members, pasted with makeup and extremely long flashy fingernails (I suspect someone's daughters). I felt I had entered the lobby of "Teen Magazine" or something like that. Definitely did not make me feel I was dealing with professional offices (or maybe I'm from the wrong generation. I don't know). 2. Get what you pay for? They did not provide the full service they are billing insurance for. I told the Dr. I had seen a retinal specialist in the past. Therefore did not give a full test for glaucoma or diabetic issues (I am diabetic), she said "I'll leave it to them do this". Didn't bother to ask if I was still seeing them and it didn't occur to me to question her at the time (had a senior moment). Once home I called the office to state my disappointment, wanted to have the full service due to me. Manager said she'd look into it. Almost a month now, no one has called me back. 3. Reasonable Delivery Date - Supposably about 14 day delivery for new glasses however mine took over 3 weeks to receive. No one called to alert me to the delay. So I called, was told they had to be remade due to breakage. OK, but still 3 weeks? The basic response was it was because of my health care provider stating THEY required them to use a lab that Durham Eye Care does not use. Well, nice if they would have told me this before I order my expensive glasses from them. At that price I would have ordered from another supplier had I know this. I needed something quick. 4. Did not give me a copy of my prescription. I emailed them stating I needed a copy and to please forward it to me. Going on 4 days not...crickets....no one calls back. 5. Voicemail - You get voice mail a lot with them. Can't understand why, they seem to be staffed well enough (including the kids). I don't bother leaving messages, too frustrating. Personal/General Observation - The medical industry has evolved in to point where patient care and service is secondary to healthcare management. I've experienced this with many family members in a number of health related offices. Here, this office has been non responsive AFTER the service. Call the health provider to inquire and report an issue, you struggling to communicate with service representative in the Philippines, Mexico, Nicaragua, etc. By its own nature a deterrent for the patient to pursue or petition a corrective action. Take the above four comments for what it is worth.

Loveland Eyecare - Great job. The team worked with my son new sport goggles and was very knowledgeable about what he needed.

Since this was my first vision test since elementary school, I didn't remember what to expect. They squeezed me in on the day after Thanksgiving, which was great, since I needed to get this appointment in before the end of the year; I was lucky that they'd had a cancellation. They were running on time. I did the tests, chatted with the doctor, and she said, "You're not even close to needing glasses." Then I was done. No complaints.

Dr Loveland took my insurance and I was expecting to pay nothing. I paid MORE! My insurance covers $200 for frames. The cheapest frames I could find were $220. The most expensive frames at Walmart are $125, most under $100. The eye doctor didn't say anything during the tests. I asked a question and got a sarcastic answer. My insurance has covered everything for the past 30 years. This year I got a bill for $50. I called and asked what it was for. I was told the billing department would call me back. No one ever called. My Medicare statement said it was a test to see if I needed to wear prescription glasses. I don't need this test. I have been wearing glasses since 1962. I came in with glasses & they knew I needed glasses without a test. When I picked up my glasses the woman handed me the glasses and a cleaning cloth and said I was all set. When I got home I couldn't see the computer screen and had to put my old glasses back on. I've left the old glasses on ever since. I wore the new glasses about an hour. They never asked about what activities I do, like every other doctor I've been to. I was told I had to come back for a second exam to check my eye pressure, but the second exam was a test for peripheral vision which I didn't the first time. I was told i could leave & they would let me know the test results. I have never heard the results. Walmart is looking like a better choice. Greg G.
