the last few years this store has just gone under. there is usually only one employee working, a short man with glasses. never had a problem with him until today when i came in. i asked for some help & there was no other customers in the store. he told me he would be there in just a second. after waiting a while i went to check on him. he was cleaning his work area. i reminded him again i needed assistance. he got irritated with me saying he has 10 other things to do and he'll get to me, while i was the ONLY customer in the store. finally he helped me after i asked to speak to a manager. he told me to go away several times & was just completely rude. i understand people have bad days but this was just uncalled for. not looking forward to having to return here. as they are the only store in town that carry what i need. 0/10 experience today. i need the nice blonde girl back who is always quick to help with a smile. read more

I had a small 20 gallon fresh water community fish aquarium. For over 30 years I had been enjoying my fish. They would come and go, but for the time I had them I loved to just sit and watch them swimming around. I am retired so will stop and just enjoy watching them swimming atoind. This Christmas my Son,and Daughter-in-Law surprised me on Christmas Day with a 75 gallon aquarium new set up, including a cabinet stand. As a result of this gift I got to know the staff at Petco on Casy Blvd, quiet well. They have been a God sent to me in helping me with seting up information for my new community home for my fish. I purchased fish and accessories from them. Each and every time I came in the staff treated me as a friend and was glad to help me in every way. One young man working there went out of his way to assist me in every way. I am sorry, but I don't recall his name, but if he sees this, tanks to you I have a nice home for my fish and I am sure I will se you again. read more

Not my usual Petco, but it still has everything I need in it. That, and it looks hella cute from the outside. Located in Settlers Market, there's parking out front and along the street. Good selection of dog food, treats, toys, accessories, and a decent selection of beds at the back of the store too! Staff were polite but all located at the cashier, I didn't see anyone on the floor to ask questions about what I was looking for. The usual food we get for our Sally seems to be more expensive in this location than in Newport News though? Oh well. Grooming services available, same as delivery of supplies and curbside pick up for online orders. read more

This place is an absolute joke. I placed an order and all items were in stock. They took it upon themselves to say items weren't in stock so they would not have to honor the 25% sale they are having this weekend. Money grubbers! Avoid at all cost. This already was a below average store. Just convenient for location. But showed up today at 11 to see people exiting the store having purchased things, but the employees locking the door behind them. They said "sorry, we'll be open in just a minute" and then proceeded to tape a sign to the door that said "due to short staff we'll open at 11:45". Almost hilarious. read more

I come to this store often, and while I'd usually give it a 3/5 stars because the experience is average (nobody offers help, employees ignore you, etc), my experience today just made me mad. I was waiting for a cashier to check me out, and Krystal was helping another customer with a pickup order. After she was done she walked over to the register and was doing something on her handheld device. I waited for her to acknowledge me and call me to the register, but eventually she looked up at me and gave me this look like "Wtf? Why aren't you up here yet?". While checking me out, she was complaining about there only being 2 people in the store, that she couldn't answer the phone because I was there, and "The fish are dying because I can't put them in the water because I'm over here doing this crap". So sorry I want to buy pet supplies... I worked almost 6 years in retail, so I understand she was stressed out due to under staffing, but the attitude she gave was unacceptable. read more

My typical experience at this location is always excellent. Employees are very friendly, knowledge, helpful, and caring. I want to recognize one of Petco's outstanding associates, Andrew. He was very helpful and answered all my questions. Additionally, Andrew went out of his way to make sure he helped me and made sure I was satisfied. I have lost over 100 fish this year from this store and the after effects of buying fish from them. I bought 35 chili Rasboras, in increments on 10 and each one died within a week, so I would clean out tank and get more. however that's fish are like 1/8 of an inch, so hard to find all corpses. which poisoned my tank with ammonia and such and I lost 6 ember tetras, 8 Glowlight tetras, 1 neon dwarf Gourami, about 7 rummy nose tetras...... my tank is well established, water tested regularly. And I tell them about this EVERYTIME and never once was I offered a refund or replacement for the 35 chili Rasboras, the Hillstream Loach ($20 loach) not any other fish theirbsock fish caused me to lose. so I will say this! if you cannot quarantine your new fish, DO. OT BUY THEM THERE! And I still prob won't bc the store employees even told me the other day the fish are coming in sick but they are told to sell them anyway! it's disgusting and heartbreaking to watch life die when you know what your doing with fish! before the Chili Rasboras incident, I had not had a fish death in almost 3 yrs. now I have lost over 70 in 3 months! and all that money just wasted bc they IGNORE their replacement policy! I will be contacting corporate next, but wanted. public to be aware! for supplies, it's a great store, for buying LIFE, just save the heartache and go elsewhere!!!!! read more

This rating is specifically for the dog grooming services. The justification: a) way too expensive! I just had my Yorkshire terrier groomed and it was $89 with a $10 tip! Heidi and Misha have done a good job for me in the past, but this is simply too much to charge for dog grooming services. b)...and most importantly, I witnessed one of the groomers losing her patience with a sweet corgi. Instead of lovingly encouraging the dog to be still this woman was very scary and abrupt with the animal. I do not think this person has the temperament to be grooming dogs and should find another job! read more

Horribly unreliable service. Always short staffed in grooming can't get appointments, I've had appointments cancelled because their staff calls off, and when you do have an appointment they never run on time. Apart from that there is nothing sold in this store that isn't available online for less. I am convinced the people who work here really hate animals and see the customers as an annoyance. read more

Terrible experience here! I decided to give this store a try when I typically frequent Petsmart. The store manager/ clerk who never says hello, nothing....while I was checking out, acknowledges tardy employees walking in. He looks at them at says "late, again" with a snarky attitude. Meanwhile I'm standing there as a paying customer and he never acknowledges me. I say "thank you, have a good day"--Me, the customer and he simply says good bye. What?!!! What has happened to customer service? How about a thank you to ME for patronizing your store. Needless to say, I will not return. I was not happy to say the least. Back to Petsmart I go! read more
