Management neglect's the birds of proper perches, enrichment and environment. When I asked respectfully if I could purchase a perch for the Turquoise Green Cheek Conure I was told I was not allowed to. When I asked if it could be approved by management to buy a new perch for the bird, it was refused and I was told I could not. This is a form of abuse/neglect. This is comparable to being put in a room without a bed and being asked to hang from the side of the wall by one finger to sleep. As an establishment that is responsible for teaching people how to properly care for animals, this is disappointing and inhumane. It is not okay. Birds require research to properly provide for and not doing so is neglect. Enforcement has been contacted to look into this establishment and the neglect/abuse at hand, as to this being only one area that needed work. As a bird owner/rescuer from establishments such as this, you can see that both the conure on the left and cockatiel do not have the proper perches or the environment they need to be comfortable in a cage all day everyday. To anyone who understands birds needs please help me in being the voice of these birds that are not able to for themselves. This is not okay. read more

Always good service. Friendly people. We get our dog groomed here every few months. We get antlers, fresh dog food occasionally.

My dog recently had some obedience training and I wanted to say Jordan is an excellent trainer. One can tell immediately he loves dogs and he is very knowledgeable. He listens to and advises on any training issues that might arise. Plus Jordan makes the training sessions fun not only for the dog also for the owner. Nancy, the store manager was fantastic at this Petco. We had several issues when trying to order online with in-store pick-up. Nancy attentively listened to us, personally helped us find everything we needed, informed us of discounts, and even helped us load our truck. We do not have our dog groomed here, but have brought her in on a leash to shop. They have decently priced deer antler which our dog LOVES to chew so going to Petco is a real treat for her. Staff has been very helpful and pleasant. Minus one star for cleanliness. read more

Will never try to use @Petco again for grooming services for Luna. My night schedule makes things difficult when trying to get her to a groomer so thought we'd try them out being they're open on Saturdays. 2 weeks ago just to make an online appt for 430pm in which the other get a message that day that they canceled the appt because their online appt scheduler shouldn't be making appointments at 430pm. So I make an appointment for today at 3pm, got the confirmation and then 2 days ago they message that I'd need to bring her in at 2pm so they can have 3 hours with her instead of only 2 hours. I tell them that I work nights and sleep days and need at least a decent nap when I come in but reluctantly agree to the 2pm slot. They message me today and ask if I can bring her at 1pm which I didn't get until (sleeping) and then proceed to send another message saying "unfortunately Luna's groomer had to go home sick and we've canceled your appointment." I'm done with these idiots! Ugh read more

Can't say enough good things about my grooming experience here. I wasn't satisfied with the quality of the grooming at the local PetSmart, so I decided to try here for the first time. My dog was unusually anxious and the staff had a hard time attempting to get her out of the holding crate, and they did not want to try to physically get her out to avoid scaring her further or possibly hurting her. I was called and told the situation and the woman (CANNOT REMEMBER HER NAME, SHE IS SO LOVELY) was very apologetic and stated to avoid scaring my dog any further, she suggests that we come in another day. I was pleasantly surprised by how much they cared about the well-being of my dog. They were very sweet and gentle with her. I tried again a few weeks later with the same wonderful woman. My dog was acting very fearful again and the woman seemed very concerned, asked questions about previous places she'd been groomed, if she had gotten hurt recently, etc. She suggested that perhaps the dog was just uncomfortable with her and that she would ask another groomer to try. Turns out, she did just fine with the other groomer (Hannah?). The first woman seemed genuinely happy that my dog finally was calm, comfortable, and able to be groomed, even if it wasn't by her. When it was time to pay, the initial groomer informed me that I did not need to pay due to the trouble with the first attempt and the reschedule. Wonderful groomers; they genuinely care about your pet and their customer service is absolutely top notch. Not to mention my pupper looked wonderful :) read more

I visited this Petco location yesterday. I ended up leaving without purchasing what I needed. Why? because the store was so gross. The fish tanks had countless dead fish in them, the hamster and other rodent tanks had piles of feces in them, the floors were dirty, etc... I felt so sorry for the animals in that store. I will not patron a pet store that does not take care of the animals! read more

I've never had anything but excellent experiences at this Petco (South Broadway, Tyler). My dog is ​easy to care for as all she needs is a wash, brush out short (but thick) coat and she is exceptionally submissive. She gets nail trims there between groomings. I also have taken my foster dog there for grooming but she was submissive and had a very short coat. I wanted her to look her best for her adoption days. I know the people there and when I foster they welcome us as we walk through the store (when the dog is ready for that) and we also meet the groomers before the dog is groomed. I wait on the premises and the groomers know I will be within a couple hundred feet. Not all dogs requiring more grooming (poodles, etc.) respond the same to every groomer and there is at least one vet in the area that also provides grooming services for dogs and cats, so if someone is concerned, they should go that option. For me and my short-hairs,​ this is a fine option. read more

I brought my young puppy in to get a groom and I was told he was too matted and to take him to a vet to get groomed, I feel like They just didn't want to groom him. He is young and his first real groom that he would of had and I understand that he has to get use to grooming but I am sure other dogs are the same way with their 1st real cut. But that's fine I will never be back to make a grooming appointment. I will just take him to my vet. They are cheaper anyway. I was just trying to get him in sooner to get cut. On top of that we had appointment at 3:45 and it took them an hour to call me back and tell me that... why did it take that long to tell me you can not groom him? We live 30mins one way from the store so I wasted 2 hours all together for my puppy not to get groomed. read more

The majority of store reps here were super nice. But then I interacted with Nancy. I annoyed her because I separated some items in 1 bag (my mom-in-law and I rang out together, but drove separately and I didn't want to accidentally forget something in her bag). Once I grabbed the first bag with my stuff in it, she would just stand there and hold a bag out waiting for me to grab it. No attempt to put it in the cart. I've tried to like this place... really tried... I've been in a few times and the workers just seem to not really care. Not super friendly or helpful. But alas, I thought maybe I'd give them a chance and let them groom my two dogs. My dogs are old.. I know that... so I when I booked an appointment online I absolutely put in their ages.. the day came I brought them to be groomed... was told I needed to take them to a veterinarian to have them groomed. She said "this is just too big of a knot for me to shave with my clippers"..... ummm scissors? Yes I will admit my dogs are a little overdue for a hair cut, but by no means are they neglected or in bad shape. I feel like they didn't want to bother with senior dogs due to possible risks that come along with old girls and boys. Which is fine I guess.... but then your booking process needs to have that on there so that I dont make an unnecessary trip into town. I was highly annoyed. read more

I have come to this store on multiple occasions and have never once been greeted by an employee. Most of the fish in the tanks have ich, fin and mouth rot, and tanks were dirty. Reptiles had dirty, poopy water. Birds had very little toys for enrichment. Small animal enclosures did look pretty good, at least the times I have come. 3 stars because they have a pretty good selection of fish, reptile & small animal supplies. I am hoping I am just catching them at a bad time (usually near close) and that their animal care is not always this way. I am rooting for you Petco! read more

I agree, that the store is under-staffed; and, if you need help with something, you have to wait until the cashier can assist. Also, the stocking of merchandise is low, and I sometimes have to go to the internet to get what I want. Regarding pricing, it is much better than Pet Smart, so that is definitely a plus. read more

Do Not!! Do not take your dog here for grooming. They booked my tiny extremely docile poodle for a 2:30 appointment. We live 30 miles away as drove in just for this appointment . We dropped her off at 2:15. They let us wait over 3 hrs before calling us back to get her alleging that she was too wild to groom. This dog is about as wild as milk toast. I was obvious they were lying and had just overbooked and didn't want to attempt to groom her. It was almost 6 and they were just ready to go home so they lied. Huge waste of my day and the 60 mile round trip. I will never go back and you should not either. Highly Unprofessional! read more

I would not suggest sending your dog here if you expect them to be cared for and paid attention to. My toy poodles second grooming appointment was at the Petco in Tyler and I can say I am not impressed the least bit. Her first appointment was at the Petco in Terrell and it went well but I cannot say the same for the appointment in Tyler. I am afraid my dog will be shell shocked from her experience there. Note: my 7 1/2 month old dog is about as calm cool and collected as she possibly could be. She is not one that easily arouses. When I dropped her off I was a bit skeptical because the groomer my dog had was not very warm and welcoming. Is it too much to ask to be friendly to my dog instead of acting like she's an inconvenience to you?? When I walked in (4 hours later- when they called me to pick her up) I could hear her barking hysterically in the back room. I asked how she was during her appointment and the groomer with not much expression said she was okay. She proceeded to go get her and bring her to me and I mentioned how she did not sound very happy back there and the groomer said they're use to it, it goes in one ear and out of the other. Not every dog is use to the kennel (which my dog is fine with her kennel at home) so why is there not an assistant just managing the dogs that are being held in the kennels making sure they are okay and help them stay calm and feel comforted instead of just letting them bark their heads off and get worked up? On top of all of this.... I showed my groomer the picture after her previous grooming so she would do the same thing and she looks nothing like the picture. She's cut short enough that we shouldn't need a haircut for a while... Also, typically they spray the seasonal sugar cookie spray on the dogs when they're done but it was obvious this had not been done when I got my dog because it is a strong smell and hard to miss. I asked if they sprayed it on my dog and her groomer said she did a while ago so she guesses that it wore off in the kennel. Mind you... last time the scent last 3+ days so if the smell wore off in the kennel how long did you leave her just waiting in there for you called me to come get her? Ridiculous. If you forgot to spray her then just simply say that, don't make an excuse. I will definitely not be retuning to this location. I was reading reviews and it seems to be two years ago someone had a similar experience with their little poodle. I can assure you my dog did not have an $80 grooming experience. read more

I normally use petco because they are right by my work. I've used them since they opened here and frequented the store often as I have several animals. But honestly, yesterday will probably be the last time I go. The past few times I have been there is literally one person working. And if you're like me and need crickets or assistance in another part of the store-there is NO ONE!! I have to wait in line to ask for crickets, the cashier will say "let me finish with these people and I can" and I am left standing for 20 minutes. Needless to say I left without what I came for. The couple of times I've been able to get someone back there either the crickets are all dead and stinking or they are out. I would have better luck catching some outside. read more
