This place is great for my fish, turtles, and lizard. They love the food and the plants and more. It is really cool looking on the inside. And they sell turtles which is great.

I am in the middle of my experience with Glass City K9. Maybe I should wait until the process is…read morefinished, but I've seen so much growth in both my pup AND myself so far that I feel compelled to comment right now. I did not choose a board and train because it was *kind of* out of my budget and I didn't think it was necessary; it would have been easier and I *could* have made it happen, but I chose not to. I chose the "silver plan." Essentially, the trainers train us, the owners, to train our own dogs. We are paying for them to pass on their expertise. Keep in mind that if, as an owner, one does not FOLLOW THROUGH with the plan as given by the trainers, the results will not be optimal. I am, by profession, a teacher. So when I am told to specifically follow a lesson plan with my dog every week, I follow the plan. Religiously. I have a husky. I'm told they don't like to listen. When I adopted her (rescue), she was pulling me so hard on the leash that I was falling over onto the pavement. She cause me to wreck a perfectly good pair of Silver jeans, and she tore my belly button piercing (it never healed... it hurt a LOT... I finally gave up and took it out). I was not a happy dog mom. I tried positive "treat training" and she learned every command quickly but would only comply if offered a treat. Well, by week three with GCK9, my girl was stopping at street intersections without being prompted. Why? Because I trained her to do so because I didn't want her to get smoked by a car. This wasn't even part of GCK9's lesson plans; I kinda just added it in because it naturally followed with what I was being told to train her to do. I LISTENED TO WHAT THE TRAINER SAID AND I DID EXACTLY THAT, then when it all worked and my girl was so proficient she was getting bored, I did some add ons. Folks, know this: YOU WILL GET OUT OF THIS PROGRAM NOT WHAT YOU PAID INTO IT, BUT WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT. As for the e-collar... if you're that worried about it, Google "shock collar vs e-collar" and start there. I can put my girl's e-collar in my hand at the level at which I typically train her (which is super low) and I can tell you this: My physical therapist has turned up the tens machine on me WAY higher than I've probably ever turned up the e-collar on my pup, and I wasn't wearing a double coat to buffer it... and I've never been hurt by a tens machine. At the current stage, I only need to actually use her e-collar about 50% of the time. She just knows what she is supposed to do, and she does it. At the end of the day, folks, so far I have to say that I believe that I have gotten more value out of this training than my pup has. Here is why: In a world where I have had to stop paying attention to the news because I feel as if everything has spun into such utter chaos that it has caused me to up my meds and increase the number of mental health therapy sessions I have every month (depression and generalized anxiety disorder), training my beautiful dog has given me a sense of purpose and made me feel as if there is something among the chaos that I can actually control. I now wish that I'd have trained a dog before I'd had human children, because it would have made me a more patient, loving, and firm disciplinarian. My 9-year-old son is benefitting because he is following my lead and also taking responsibility for our dog's training, which is teaching HIM to be a better human being. If you do it right, your dog won't be the only one to change in a positive way; YOU will as well. I promise you that if you approach Glass City K9 with the right intention, attitude, and work ethic, you will have zero regrets.

AWITP is much more than just a boarding kennel. Dirk also offers day care, grooming, obedience…read moretraining, and a couple times per week, he and his staff will take the dogs for an actual walk in one of the actually metro parks. The facility was built with dogs in mind...before it was A Walk In The Park, the building was the home of the Toledo Area Humane Society. The building is more than large enough, and the yard is even bigger. The staff is awesome...just plain awesome. You can tell that every single person working here really loves dogs, and the dogs, at least my dog, seems to love all of them. We recently left our puppy here when we weren't able to take him with us on vacation. My wife, who still does Facebook (LOL), logged in daily to see videos and pix of the pack including our boy, so she and the kids (and me too, I guess) felt connected. When we got home and went to pick him up, he was happy to see all four of us, but he didn't want to leave...I guess dogs really are pack animals. We also utilize doggie daycare a couple time per week. As far as pet safety goes, and I might not have this exactly right, but I think the dogs are grouped by age and size. That is, the large breed puppies are kept together, and the small breed puppies are keep together. The large breed adults are kept together...etc. In other words, you don't have to worry about your chihuahua pup getting eaten by a Doberman. Great business, and great location. Five stars.

Dirk is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about dogs. The dogs are engaged physically, mentally and socially while in their care. They are never stuck in a kennel for the day. At night the dogs sleep in bedrooms together with a staff member present at all times. His staff is top notch - friendly, reliable, and well educated on dog handling. AWITP is the only place for my dog care needs - my pup loves her time on the "ranch". I highly recommend!

My 7 month old puppy, Mikey, just finished the 20 day training program at Diamonds in the Ruff. I…read moretruly can't say enough positive things about our experience. Lisa's program is successful for a multitude of reasons, but perhaps the most important of those is that she is as dedicated to the "pet parent" as she is to the pet. Lisa always made me feel welcome and comfortable at her center and she tweaked her methods to suit the learning approach seemed to work best for me. Which, with her incredible instinct, she was able to assess very early in our dealings what MY educational needs were. Likewise, she has an incredible talent with the dogs and truly has a gift in relating to and understanding them. To say that Lisa is a natural leader is an understatement of enormous proportions. The physical presence that exudes from her small frame and the calm energy that CONSISTENTLY radiates from her exemplifies the picture of confidence and total belief in oneself and in ones actions. This is an image that I draw on when I need a "boost" and it is an image that consistently motivates me and reminds me of the calm and relaxed state that my dogs are worthy of experiencing day in and day out as part of my pack. There is no person nor animal Diamonds in the Ruff that are unsure of who fills the position of leader, as Lisa's entire being constantly displays that she eagerly accepts the responsibility. This allows the dogs to relax in her presence in a way that is very reassuring as your pet shows you that he/she feels great and is in exceptional care! Perhaps most importantly, the training program is as much a leadership retreat as it is a dog school. Through example, Lisa shows pet parents what leadership "looks" like and what it feels like to be in the presence of a strong and capable leader. The confidence that I gained from Lisa's instruction and wealth of knowledge allows me to see myself in a different light and has impact in all facets of life, not only as it relates to my dogs. No book nor video on canine training or behavior will ever come close to the real life, hands-on experience that I had during Mikey's stay in residency. To be in a pack with Lisa at the helm is, in my opinion, like hitting the dog lottery. To be able to learn from her and employ her techniques, many of which come without word or instruction, is a gift for which I will always be grateful! "My pack" will be life-long clients of Diamonds in the Ruff!
