The facility was built with dogs in mind...before it was A Walk In The Park, the building was the home of the Toledo Area Humane Society. The building is more than large enough, and the yard is even bigger. The staff is awesome...just plain awesome. You can tell that every single person working here really loves dogs, and the dogs, at least my dog, seems to love all of them. We recently left our puppy here when we weren't able to take him with us on vacation. My wife, who still does Facebook (LOL), logged in daily to see videos and pix of the pack including our boy, so she and the kids (and me too, I guess) felt connected. When we got home and went to pick him up, he was happy to see all four of us, but he didn't want to leave...I guess dogs really are pack animals. We also utilize doggie daycare a couple time per week. As far as pet safety goes, and I might not have this exactly right, but I think the dogs are grouped by age and size. That is, the large breed puppies are kept together, and the small breed puppies are keep together. The large breed adults are kept together...etc. In other words, you don't have to worry about your chihuahua pup getting eaten by a Doberman. Great business, and great location. Five stars.

Dirk is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about dogs. The dogs are engaged physically, mentally and socially while in their care. They are never stuck in a kennel for the day. At night the dogs sleep in bedrooms together with a staff member present at all times. His staff is top notch - friendly, reliable, and well educated on dog handling. AWITP is the only place for my dog care needs - my pup loves her time on the "ranch". I highly recommend!

I called for a private training and we were so blessed to find John. John was so patient with Max (a mini dachshund who thinks he's a big dog.) His fear free methods of training put us at ease right away. Max went from being scared of John in our first training to wanting to please him very quickly. John spent time going over our concerns and provided us with the tools necessary to keep Max just a little calmer (which, if you know Max....is no easy feat.) John's post training emails included reviews of our training, handouts on what we talked about, and homework to work on. I recommend Let's Train to everyone. It's a joy to be able to loose leash walk my dog and be able to control situations quickly. Let's Train is the best!

I have a Siberian husky that used to stay at pups paradise on an occasional Sunday. Every time he…read morewas there they refused to feed him food I sent with him. The last time he was there he was overwhelmed and was trying to get out according to the staff. My dog normally goes to Rover Come Over on week days and I am aware that my husky gets overwhelmed with other dogs sometime, so the staff at rover just separate him from the other dogs for about an hour and he's fine for the rest of the day. At pups paradise they told me he has too many behavioral issues and needs to be put on medication or they can't take him. I'm not putting my dog on meds because they don't want to deal with him. Sounds like they throw the dogs in and don't care about them at all.

Toledo Kennel Club is an organization for dog enthusiasts that live near the Toledo area…read more They define themselves as "a not-for-profit organization of dog owners, breeders, performance enthusiasts and show exhibitors dedicated to the welfare and advancement of purebred dogs." They offer training classes, health clinics and so much more but they are most known for hosting dog shows- Which is exactly what we looked them up for. So on June 2nd, we drive 2.5 hrs to attended our first dog show (as a spectator) which was hosted by the Toledo Kennel Club. We found the venue to be very well organized. The parking was easy to find and only cost 6 dollars. (We were expecting it to be more, so we were quite happy). Actually parking the car was even easier. Lots of spots that were easy to find. We quickly found the information booth. It was located in a centralized location with easy to spot signage. Customer service there was excellent. They helped us find the ring we needed to get to so that we could see the dog that we came to support strut his stuff! (Yay, Toledo's own, Comet the Shih Tzu!) We got to meet many of the competitors and they all were so welcoming. They had everything there from confirmation, agility, dive, and I think they even had something called fast cat(?), where a dog is timed for chasing this fuzzy thing , plus lots of little shops. We went thinking we would stay a few hours and we left at the very end if the day. We found it to be a very fun and well run show. Thank you Toledo Kennel club! Lisa's program is successful for a multitude of reasons, but perhaps the most important of those is that she is as dedicated to the "pet parent" as she is to the pet. Lisa always made me feel welcome and comfortable at her center and she tweaked her methods to suit the learning approach seemed to work best for me. Which, with her incredible instinct, she was able to assess very early in our dealings what MY educational needs were. Likewise, she has an incredible talent with the dogs and truly has a gift in relating to and understanding them. To say that Lisa is a natural leader is an understatement of enormous proportions. The physical presence that exudes from her small frame and the calm energy that CONSISTENTLY radiates from her exemplifies the picture of confidence and total belief in oneself and in ones actions. This is an image that I draw on when I need a "boost" and it is an image that consistently motivates me and reminds me of the calm and relaxed state that my dogs are worthy of experiencing day in and day out as part of my pack. There is no person nor animal Diamonds in the Ruff that are unsure of who fills the position of leader, as Lisa's entire being constantly displays that she eagerly accepts the responsibility. This allows the dogs to relax in her presence in a way that is very reassuring as your pet shows you that he/she feels great and is in exceptional care! Perhaps most importantly, the training program is as much a leadership retreat as it is a dog school. Through example, Lisa shows pet parents what leadership "looks" like and what it feels like to be in the presence of a strong and capable leader. The confidence that I gained from Lisa's instruction and wealth of knowledge allows me to see myself in a different light and has impact in all facets of life, not only as it relates to my dogs. No book nor video on canine training or behavior will ever come close to the real life, hands-on experience that I had during Mikey's stay in residency. To be in a pack with Lisa at the helm is, in my opinion, like hitting the dog lottery. To be able to learn from her and employ her techniques, many of which come without word or instruction, is a gift for which I will always be grateful!
