The manger from the fish department wanted to force me to buy a tank from the store for a fish that was 49c gold fish when I have a tank already it ain't big maybe a 10x10 or 12x12 but the thing is he really was insisting we even buy a filter like I can clean it my self. I mean if he would give it to me for free then I'll take it but those tank cost $150 the ones he wanted me to purchase. read more

all i needed was a dog tag and their engraving machine wasnt working. i asked the girl up front if she could help us and she told me it was gonna be a few minutes. 30 minutes later, still no help and i had already paid for the tag so didn't wanna just leave. ended up walking around the store until i could find someone to help and found so many dead fish in their tanks. all of the birds look bad as if they're not being properly taken care of. tanks and enclosures are dirty too. you could tell these animals aren't taken care of. went back to refund the tag instead which took another 15 minutes and in the end nobody came to help. read more

The doctor in the veterinary clinic doesn't look like he takes his job very seriously. And is always on his phone before taking a look at peoples pets. I don't even see him wash his hands either when handling medication. What makes it worse is him talking behind your back when your done with you appointment. The staff rarely seem willing to help, there are always excuses , they keep changing their "policy" on what time they stop selling fish, or they'll say Oh it's too late the fish area is close, Oh fish is "under observation " Oh the water for the fish is " too warm" so we can't sell fish because again they're under observation. I came into the shop earlier for some bird food but ended up wondering around the hamster section. I had seen that there was this hamster bleeding out. I proceeded to inform an employee and he had told me that he already knew about this situation, but didn't do anvthing about the situation before I told him. He grabbed some tweezers and picked up the injured hamster, hurting him. He was being rude and unprofessional about the whole situation. I chose to purchase the hamster because it was obvious that nothing good was going to be done if it staved there, so I took matters into my own hands. honestly, this place never has what I'm looking for. They are always so disorganized. It's actually kind of comical. I got a beta fish for myself for Christmas and it took like three months for them to get food in because every time I went in which is like once every couple weeks, the isles are literally empty. I really do think this is upper management problem. They're always horribly understaffed. There's always a ridiculously long line and the workers are usually always sick complaining/in a bad mood or going ridiculously slow intentionally I actually stopped to Petco in general because all of the location seem to be like this here in LA, they're not up north so I think you guys../and when I say disorganized, I'm talking about the rabbit section the fish section the dog toys section. I've been taking my dog for grooming at this location for eight plus years now and they've always been horrible at notifying you when your dog is ready for pickup. I've been putting up with it all these years but yesterday was a boiling point for me. Her groomer Vivian or anyone else for that matter (there were at least 4 other groomers that day) and nobody notified me that my dog was ready for pickup until I finally just dedcided to go in after it had been 5 hours since I first brought her in. I called multiple times to check on her status and nobody would answer the phone. When I got there I asked them since when has she been ready? They had told me that she had been ready for pick up 2 HOURS AGO! I asked why nobody had called me? The associate told me they called and left a voicemail. They did not call me and they definitely did not leave a voicemail! That's their excuse every time. There is no excuse for leaving a dog in the crate for 2 hours when I could've picked her up. Definitely no excuse to keep a dog for 5+ hours, my dog is an older dog she needs to eat and does not spend much time in a create or away from her owners. These workers just don't care about your dog, or their costumers. I did not tip the groomer because it was on her to make sure to notify me my dog was ready for pick up and she failed to do so. BE AWARE! I got some prescribed medication from the vet at Petco (Nexgard) and this recommended medication for the fleas almost killed my dog. Be careful those medications are super dangerous my dog was having seizures within a hr of taking this trash medicine. Vets should stop selling that. read more

This location lost a loyal customer today. After dropping my dog off at 10am for grooming with Karime I did not receive any calls or text for 5 HOURS... I stop by to check in because that is not normal. Come to find out Karime left work early and left my dog half groomed at 12pm, mind you I get there at 4pm. So my dog sat in there for 4 additional hours, with no contact to the owner. They show me my poor pup half shaved and NOT BATHED. He still smelled and had dirt in his paws from when I brought him in, so basically you left my dog caged up because he was "too anxious" ATLEAST CALL THE DAMN CUSTOMER TO PICK UP THEIR FUR BABIES!! So unprofessional and the fact these amateur groomers think this is okay is a disgrace. Cannot believe this terrible service! read more

This place is a mess. Came in to buy a few aquatic plants and live fish. The only cashier said someone would come in 2-5 minutes. It took about an hour for someone to come help, but then the manager kept calling the only employee on the floor to do other things. Employee left and didn't come back. I walked around.. employee was helping other people and doing other tasks. I come to this Petco very often and have bought collars, leashes, and pet toys for my dog. I've also bought flea treatments and shampoo. If I ever have a question someone is always available for assistance and employees are rather very knowledgeable about products and overall pet care. As far as grooming, I would not be able to speak on that since I've always bathed my pet myself. I'm sure they do a good job considering the customer service given. Overall, I'd say this store more than satisfies any pet needs or service. And as far as how they're currently handling the situation with COVID-19, I'd say they are doing a much better job than most essential public businesses in terms of following proper procedures. read more

This Petco is a hot mess. It's dirty, unorganized, the employees are inattentive, and the line, the line is always long. I always spend more time in line than in the store. The cashiers see the huge line and they are unbothered. The shelves are messy and scarce. You must be wondering why I continue to come here because this is not my first or even third time? By far the worst Petco in the area not only is the grooming staff extremely rude and unpleasant to work with but their leadership Vivian demonstrates the same behavior, but hers comes with a lot more attitude, so I can see why the staff can't pick up common etiquette. . The Gothic girls with a horrible attitude not once did they greet me or suggested any recommend after I asked and said it's my first time here what would you recommend it was like talking to a zombie.. 10 minutes late and for some reason, it turned into 40 minutes late oh yeah, I had to stand and wait like 15 minutes for them to come out and help me I apologize for me being late no acknowledgment or human level connection. These girls and I'm saying girls because multiple girls walked out to help me need customer service skills and they're definitely not getting it by their supervisor or Lead Vivian .. along with the store manager, which I didn't pick up her name had no clue what was going on after I shared my experience with her. I paid extra for my dogs nail buffing and they didn't even buff my dogs nails! They literally just left them sharper than before and I even gave a $3 tip on top of that ‍. The grooming salon was very dirty, hairs all over the ground (were you pay) and my dog got fleas from them. He did not have fleas at all before he is on the simparaca pill luckily... fleas were literally bouncing off of him after we picked him up. read more

Please avoid bringing your fur babies here for a haircut! I brought my fur baby in for a cut, they took approximately 9 hours to let me know he was ready. Upon arrival, the girl tells me that my fur baby looks like he has allergies and caused him to over scratch and peeled his skin off by his throat. At first I thought, well maybe she's right (I hadn't seen it before since he's a shih tzu and his hair was extremely long) so I took my fur baby to his vet to make sure we got something for his allergies. His vet told me he had no allergies, that the peeled off skin was actually from a cut and needed to be healed properly. He is finally healed and I am never taking him back! My poor baby. read more

Terrible experience. Brought my dog for a SCHEDULED grooming session at 3PM. I was told someone would call me to come pick up my dog when he was ready. It's about 5:30PM and no one has called so I decide to drive into the store. Let me remind you the store closes at 6PM. I arrive to the store and sure enough they haven't even started. The stylist begins cutting my dogs hair after they close! Vivian, as the lead of the grooming department you should be on top of this and ensure your stylist are not cutting the hair of your customers pets after the store closes. Let's hope this doesn't happen again but judging from reviews, I am not the first unhappy customer to pay this store a visit. Get it together management. read more

I attempted to come here today to get my 9 lb dog groomed. The appointment was at 3:30 and no one was at the desk. Ten minutes later, one of the girls comes out. She spent twenty minutes questioning me like I was in a deposition. I provided proof of my dog's vaccination records even though he's been groomed at Petco before so she could see that he was already in the system (side note: I came yesterday thinking it was his appointment and presented his records even though I shouldn't have been asked to.) First, she tried to say that my dog's vaccination records expired, so I showed her the date on file. She then asked me about my dog's ear from THREE years ago when another Petco stylist accidentally cut him and he had to wear a cone. She kept trying to come up with excuses to not service him, saying that he's not fixed, he's too anxious, so I mentioned that I give him calming gummies regularly and that sealed the deal for her. They couldn't groom him if he takes calming gummies because once it wears off he might have a bad reaction. I said that other groomers never gave me a problem about that and she literally told me to go back to them. Then has the audacity to mark our appointment as completed on the app. HORRIBLE SERVICE. As I was walking out, I tell an employee at the front of the store about my experience and all he says is okay. Do not come here, they obviously have lazy kids running the show. read more

Wouldn't even give a 1 start Customer service it's the worst A man with long hair on a bun and big black earnings has the worst customer service with a really bad attitude. We were just walking in the store and my little dog was walking in without a leash right away instead of saying "welcome to Petco" he asked "Do you have a leash!! "I said "no," obviously cause my little dog was next to me since he is trained, but of course he didn't know that and he told me to carry my dog in a rude way so I just pick up my dog and continue walking in to shop. Then my dad was asking for assistance at the aquarium area and one of the staff walk by and he ask to be help and right away she send him to ask the cashier and cashier said to my dad "someone will assist you in a moment" I was just done paying after a wait on line. And after 15 minutes he was still waiting for someone to assist him and he decided to ask the cashier again and there was this guy again now as a cashier with his bad attitude say "we are only two employees here and that we need it to wait and not know how long they where going to take" Petco is a big company and can not believe they aren't able to hire more trained staff. Definitely this location need a much better management and people that really wants to work with motivation not to threat customer like this.. After all we are customer bringing business and we deserve to have a good service.:/ read more
