Our go-to place for puppy supplies. They sell Natural Balance unlike Pet Smart. The grooming department is always great with our furry baby and the prices are really good. Unlike other grooming places, they don't keep her there for 8 hours cooped up in a cage until they can get to her. And she always looks adorable when we pick her up. read more

This is the first and last time I will shop at this Petco. I bought a dog carrier, then I looked at the Petco's website and the same carrier was over $20 cheaper. I took the carrier back to get a price adjustment and they refused. Apparently, they don't price match their own website. The associate who explained this was also very rude and condescending by talking to me like I was an idiot. I ended up returning the carrier and ordering two of them from Amazon for less than the price of one at Petco! read more

I love coming to this Petco! They have amazing customer service and different healthy cat food for my cats. I love how they have a wide variety of healthy food unlike other places. They have an amazing Aquatics center where I purchased my first aquarium. I love how they are very friendly and take the time to tell you what you should get for your pet. Without them, I would of been lost. I love how you can Adopt fish from here I have gotten tons of fish that needed a new home. I love coming here and will never go back to Petsmart everytime I go there they always give me the right food or don't know what they are talking about. I will be coming back here a lot. Good place to shop for pet items and food. Staff are friendly here and will assist you with questions you have. I would comment however, that they need to better staff the aquatics area. Seems that there is never anyone working that area and you need to seek out assistance. Very impressed with the re-modeling that they did. Nice and organized. Best groomers in the area! Kim is by far the best we've found since moving here 6 months ago. We went through 3 other groomers before we finally found her - the upseller ("you really need to buy this special ear medicine"), the deaf (I said take 1/2" off, not leave 1/2" on!), the scolder ("you need to brush him more. I spent 2 hours combing him out". Hello - that's what I'm paying you for). Kim is awesome with our dog, does exactly what she says she'll do AND she does it for half the price I've been paying at other places. Give her a try, you won't be sorry. read more

I am very disappointed in Petco especially with the District Manager who fired the only groomer who did an amazing job on my 3.5yr old Pittie. Lets start from the beginning, the first time I took my dog here the groomer was okay she told me she couldn't brush my dogs teeth. Although she still charged me for the service, however the girl was sweet and kind to my dog so I wasn't going to push the matter. Second visit was the worse one of all!!! When I picked up my dog my poor baby was stinky and completely wet not ever dried off a little I was pissed and was not happy but what could I do? Force her to take him back and dry him off. Instead I took him home and re-bathe him and DRIED him! I was ready to throw in the towel and just drive to the valley to have good quality service since Valencia groomers tend to do crappy jobs. However I thought maybe the third time is the charm and oh boy it was! My third groomer was AMAZING!!! My dog absolutely loves her and guess what she brushed his teeth and guess what else!?! He was dried and smelt amazing when I picked him up!!! Give this girl a big raise and teach the others to groom like her because she is great!!! However we did have an incident where my dogs nail did get stuck in a drain and ripped off which ended up in a vet visit which cost Petco over $500 which cost my amazing groomer to get written up because Petco management was to lazy to listen to there groomers and change the drain heads. It took my dogs nail and over 2yrs to get them changed out. Now let me tell you not once did I complain about the incident or anything I knew it was an accident it was not intentional my dog was taken care of and I was so appreciative with how attentive she was to my dog I even told one of the store managers who helped us with everything that this was not her fault she is amazing and she is the only one who is allowed to groom my dog for now on. Well fast forward some months later and I get the saddest call telling me I can either cancel or reschedule my appointment with another groomer because my amazing groomer has been let go. Ahhhhh! I was not happy about this at all and I offered to talk to whoever made this dumb decision although I wasn't allowed to. However all good things come to an end and although my sweet baby boy will no longer see his crush she is on to better things and not working with a company that cant take accountability for there actions and listen to there employees. Instead of thinking of your profit, district manager.... You should really think about your employees and maybe one day listen and understand how they can be helped. I give Petco 1 Star.... Now I know why others call it PetNO! I made the mistake of going to this place for crickets. First of all, their crickets are overpriced. Natural Wonders have them 12 for a $1. So, I recommend those looking for crickets to patron their local Santa Clarita small business just up the street, instead of going to this awful place. Not to mention the kind lady that owns the store is very friendly and helpful. The main reason for this review is that I experienced terrible customer service. A few of the kiddys' that work there are downright rude and unhelpful. I walked out of there in a horrible mood and called later to speak with the manager who was understanding. I wonder if they get these kind of complaints often? I'm not one to call and complain or even write reviews but the service was so bad, I feel I need to let other animal lovers know that this place should only be used as a last resort. About two weeks later a student of mine went with his family to the same store and received the same sort of disservice. What's wrong PetCo? Please, please hire some new help! Michael in Aquatics is fantastic!!!! My daughter brought home a turtle from China town and I was not to happy to discover they sell illegal turtles. I was not going to make her take it back since god only knows what would happen to the turtle if we did. We know nothing about taking care of a turtle so we went to Petco in Santa Clarita. We found Michael who works in Aquatics and he has been so helpful the last year in teaching us how to take care of our turtle. He has been a real blessing and I am so thankful he works there. I've been going to this Petco for all of my dog and chameleon needs. The staff is SUPER nice and helpful, and the manager, Chuck, is the nicest, most caring manager you could ask for. He truly and genuinely cares about the well-being of your pet, and is extremely knowledgable about ALL animals - especially reptiles! I am writing about the GROOMING department. If I can give it a zero I would. I got the call to pick up my GSD. In the back ground I can hear her barking....but it was a bark that something was wrong. I told my boyfriend that we need to hurry because something wasn't right. We got to the store and Sammy brought our GSD out and OMG our dog looked traumatized and I can tell she wanted to get out of there. . I told my boyfriend lets do an assessment before we leave (all dog owners should always do that) So we did. We had her walk back and forth and we noticed she was limping on her left leg. We had her walk again just to make sure and sure enough she was. I went back in the grooming and asked what and how do they treat my dogs and other dogs. I told Sammy (she groomed our dog) that my GSD is limping and the other lady that was grooming another dog said "maybe her leg fell asleep when she was inside the grate" I replied " no, because she goes in her crate to sleep and that never happened" I asked who the store manager was and they said it was Kameron. I asked to talk to him and he came out. I explained what happened and he replied " is your dog old?" I smiled and answered "no, she's turning 9 months this month?" He went on and explained how Sammy has been with them for a long time and no one had made any complaints. That's a lie because I read complaints on Yelp right now. So I walked out because it didn't seem that he cared and I just told my boyfriend that we will never that our dog here again. So we walk to our car (it was brighter outside) and my BF replied "wth" and I asked him what was wrong? He replied " look at her forehead" I looked and now I was upset and hurt because she had an abrasion on her forehead. So we walk back to the groomers and I asked Sammy to look at her forehead and asked her what she did to our dog. She replied " I don't know how that happened. Kameron came out and he said he had no explanation and he would write a report and we can take her to the vet and they would pay for the expense. I explained to him that money isn't a problem and I'll pay anything for my dog. From the look on his face, I don't think he really cared. It seemed more like he was upset at me...the customer. I took my 7 month puppy into petco grooming at first were they not only rude, but they cut her below the eye and never told me, it wasn't until I got home and realized she was crying and scratching her face did I realize it, don't take your dogs to get groomed here, or risk them cutting your pet and trying to hide it and not tell you!!! read more

Brittany is by far the best dog trainer around! We have taken our dogs to 6 classes between the two of them with her, and she has been great every time. She is professional and patient, and does a lot of positive reinforcement, but also encourages your dog to "think about it" and figure out what you want them to do. My dogs have both improved a lot, and loved learning with her. We recently moved out of the area and so far, have not been able to find anyone even half as good as her, sadly. read more

When I called to confirm if the fish that I wanted to purchase this evening were available, the lady in the department told me that she would not sell me any fish because she believed that we were going to use them in a wrong way. My wife and I went to PETCO in Santa Clarita, Calif. We got there at 9:02p.m. Sat. May 7,2011. I was approached by a young sales lady telling me that the store was closed. She also said that the register was closed but there was one still open. It was like they wanted you out of there maybe because she had a date. I told her we just wanted to purchase a janitor fish or sucker fish. She was far less than friendly to me. She then proceeds to ask me what size fish tank we have. How many fish do we have in it??? I said look all I want to do is make a purchase and she tells me that she cannot sell me one of these fish. I said you have got to be kidding me. What happened to SERVE THE CUSTOMER and that the CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT. She goes and gets the manager and the she says it is our company poliicy to make sure the fish are properly handled and cared for. Oh yes she asked what size tank we had and how many fish are in there??? I said 10 gallon and 6 small fish. Her reply is that is too many fish and that the janitor fish we wanted to buy would get really really big. She also said that they were a tropical fish and that I would need a heater to make the water warmer. I do have a heater for our aquarium. She says I cannot sell you these fish I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS!!!!!! WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE??? THE """FISH POLICE""" HELL I AM SURPRISED THAT THEY DID NOT FOLLOW ME HOME TO SEE HOW MANY FISH WE HAVE AND THE SIZE OF THE TANK AND TEMPERATURE OF THE WATER AND IF WE HAD TOO MUCH WATER Ha Ha Ha What a joke does that mean I am suppose to now buy a 50 gallon tank. Got my dog a wash here, was last minute so it was nice that they could accommodate me. His wash was not bad, but he wasn't really dried and my poor dog was stuffed into a kennel for a few hours before they called me to tell me he's good to go. Usually have a great experience in this store but not today. My 5 year old grandson was looking at the fish and a door panel at the bottom fell off and scratch his leg. It wasn't bad but I sought out a n employee to tell her it fell off and I just leaned it up against the wall. I could see that one side had a piece of cardboard wrapped around the bar to hold the door on. I found a blond woman working on the guinea pig area. She did come over and then told me he shouldn't stand on the door . He did not but his knees touched the door and it fell off scraping his knee.I told her he also looking at another tank and his knees touched the door and it also opened but I was able to close it since it stayed on it's rack. She walked away loudly saying ok Ma'am in a rude tone. I was not seeking compensation, as many young children go to look at the fish tanks, a door shouldn't fall off. I could have left the door on the floor and not let staff know. I really didn't need a rude sales person discounting a child was scraped by a patch up door. Left the store so upset instead having a good experience. My family spends a lot on food and litter for our 3 cats in this store. I'm truly disgusted at this woman's behavior as a store employee. I've been in retail for a long time and have empathy for store staff but I would never have a customer like that especially when a young child was involved. read more

After comparing prices for Frontline on the Petco and Petsmart websites, I went to Petco because of the lower price. At the store, I found the price was just as high as Petsmart. The sales associate explained that their store does not necessarily match the advertised website price. What use is the website if you can't rely on the information there? I have my pets groomed at this Petco every 2 months.ALL of the groomers are incredibly professional and gentle with my dogs!Even the younger groomers are very knowledgeable with any question I have.As far as price,it's about average,but knowing my dogs are always treated very well is worth it!I have always had good experienced with the floor staff as well.They have always been very friendly as well.My only complaint would be that they never seem to have more than 1or,at most,2 cashiers even on their busiest days. read more

The prices are good and reasonable. The customer service is okay, friendly staff. If you are in a hurry then do not get upset its a slow and calm environment. I bought a small pet and not less than a week the vet had told me my pet had multiple health problems one that was contagious to people so in a heart beat i returned my pet. I felt bad but honestly when i came to the store i expected the pets to be healthy there. I noticed the small pets are all bunched up. Considering the small pet i returned had something that could pass it on to others i wonder how many small pets were infected that came into contact with the small pet that i bought out of those i wonder how many have been sold. I was told the small pet requires at least 250 mg of vitamin C this came from the vet, by the time the small pets arrives they are usually deficient from Vitamin C. Another thing that bothered me was the pet accessories for small animals had dust and hair over it like if its been there for a while. Overall i prefer Petsmart for small pets. If you buy a small pet remember vitamin drops from pet stores only have 25 mg - 30 mg per drop so give it a 250 mg vitamin C chewable because they require at least 250 mg daily. Also inspect your pet obviously by taking it to the vet ASAP. read more

I have a Bichon that I have been taking to Petco, Santa Clarita, for two years. We have always got good friendly service and good cuts. The last time I took him to get groomed there was a new young girl, she ended up calling me and saying he was so matted they were going to have to shave him. He has been worse than this on other occasions and has never had to be shaved. When I picked him up he was shave like a rat, he was bleeding and shaking. He was so tramatized he hid for two months. I said it doesn't matter, my card is all mangled on my keychain, I want a new one. She said - 'you have to call the petco phone # so they can send you a new card'. I said, why? cant I just sign up here? she said no, because the account # would be different. I said, I don't care , sign me up. I don't want to call petco, I AM ALREADY AT PETCO. she said -(looking at the wall) - why do you want a new account #? OMG. really? all i can say is Tanya the dog trainer is awesome! she is warm, friendly and very good with the dogs. our puppy Grace has completed the adult 2 class and we are now working on canine good citizen, Tanya is always there to help and smothers our dog with love and kisses. I had some serious doubts about training our pit/bull dog she is partial blind and completely deaf but Tanya took the time to teach us and grace doggie sign language so she could complete all of her commands. I highly recommend Tanya to help with your dog training, she is Awesome. !!!! read more

DON'T TRUST THEIR GROOMING DEPARTMENT! We brought in our toy Poodle/Maltese mix for a groom before the winter holidays. THEY SHAVED HIM BALD!!! Not only am I embarrassed to be seem with the dog, but I am concerned for his health now because we need to walk him early in the morning and late at night, and now we are facing below thirty degree temperatures on his bare skin. I was forced to buy him a jacket there because of their hack job, but it still doesn't cover all of him and fits loose. They had told my wife because of his matting they would need to cut his hair short. No One said SHAVE him Bald! The other groomers in the store could see how upset we were and seemed to share our concern, but not the grooming manager. I bartered 50% off with the asst manager but it still didn't cover the jacket I never wanted to buy and would not have needed. My beautiful dog looks like a freak now. I will never return here again. My problem is with the grooming dept I experience a little while back. I brought in my 2 dogs. My 7 year old boxer & my puppy lab/pit mix. My boxer is 80lbs, my puppy probably weighed 20lbs or 30lbs at the time. She was a small thing. Well, I saw online that if you bring in your puppy for the first time it's a cheaper deal. Well when I came back to pick up my dogs & pay I noticed on the bill that they did not honor the first puppy deal, not only that but I was charged more for the pup then my boxer. When I asked the girl why she said well that because we go by breeds. I told her my boxer weighs 3 times as much & not only that the reason why I came here was to get the puppy deal. She then said well because your puppy is a lab so we have to charge more because their fur is longer. I told her my puppy is a pit lab mix, her fur is not long like a lab, not only that but she weighs nothing. The girl continued arguing with me which I was shocked by until another co worker stepped in & told her it's ok, go to the back & I'll take care of it. The new lady apologized to me & honored the deal. However, I was so upset by the service I will never return! read more
