However, in a pinch they're good to have around when you need cat litter or other pet supplies. Can't comment on their adoption or grooming services but their customer service is OK, if not particularly fast or friendly. Parking is easy, store is clean but when I went, a bit cluttered. (They might have been restocking.) Would be nice if they had fresh cat grass or catnip available more regularly. read more

She is very professional and even though English is not my first language. She sat with me and explained all the tests she did to her, page by page. Even the nurses asked me for my budget and gave me different alternatives for how much I can spend without getting out of your budget. I've been to many vets during all these years, and I'm going to tell you, if you love your pet as much as I do like a part of family and you want them to be treated with respect and care as they deserve come to petco de Zavala and ask for Dr. Priour. The Petco grooming staff has taken such great care of my Bully-Pit, Bigboy his entire life. Even in his old age they would carry him when his arthritis worsened and made sure to use warm water for his baths. I moved back to this side of town and decided to try out this Petco because it was good a few years ago. I took my Pomsky in for a deshed and bath. Cool okay, the groomer checking me in immediately says, "oh well we have to charge you more because she has husky fur not Pomeranian." I said oh okay, "I usually go to Stone Oak and they haven't said anything to me." She then responded by belittling and slamming the Stone Oak location by saying they were all new and unexperienced. Don't know why I didn't take this as a red flag but I decided to bring my other Pomsky in today, who has more Pomeranian fur. The groomer, Dina, came around the counter looked at my dog, gave us the blue leash since he "keeps running from me" my dog was very scared of her and he loves people. She didn't introduce herself then approached without his consent, felt his bum fur and said "I'm gonna need to shave him." I was absolutely flabbergasted. I had already explained his chest was matted but his bum was standard Pom shed. I've been to several other groomers and the current state of his fur right now is not even nearly what it usually is. She told me it'd be an additional $150 on top of the regular price $120 it was supposed to be for DeShed. She said it'd take at least 3 hours of brushing. I'm glad my husband was there because at least I know I'm not being dramatic. RUN just RUN far away. read more

I have been going to Petco Grooming for over a year and have never had any issues until now. My fur baby, Baker, is mostly Golden Retriever, so I have never, EVER asked for a shave on any part of his coat, due to the fact that his breed has an undercoat. The first picture is from a video of him a few weeks ago, just so you can see how beautiful his feathering and tail are. The rest of the pictures were taken Monday evening after I picked him up. Initially when I made his appointment online, I chose to do the exact same process that I ALWAYS do. Upon dropping him off, the lady at the counter looked at his account and still asked "what do you wanna do", to which I replied that I want to do the same thing we always do, but I still articulated that we do a light trimming on his legs to make his hair even, trimming around the paws, and around the ears to rid of any matting that may form, although he didn't have any matting when I dropped him off. The lady said "we don't cut Golden Retriever's hair" to which I said that we always do the same thing, it's not a full cut. When I picked him up, it was a little past 5:00pm and the grooming office was closed so I was in a rush to get out. I paid $66.02 and the associate brought him out... I really couldn't believe he looked the way he did. I didn't think it was really that bad until I got home and saw the underside of him.. bald, cut, feathers completely GONE, bald behind his ears. I was mortified. My mom is a dog groomer herself in another state and could not believe they cut his hair like this. When I called them to ask why they shaved him when we have never done it before, the associate (who was really sweet btw) said the originally lady at the front desk wasn't even a groomer and told the groomer to give him a half inch cut. why? i don't know. but the store manager said "you can bring him in for a vet visit for the cuts on his skin". ... you're joking, right? It is now Wednesday and I am still waiting for the grooming manager to call me because I do want a refund. I am not accusing anyone of mishandling my doggo, but he has been really down, almost shameful (?) after I picked him up. It could be due to the hair cut, but I won't be trusting either of my dogs in the hands of Petco again. If Baker was difficult to groom, I would have wanted someone to tell me. If they didn't have the time or they were short staffed, I could have waited for another day. The associate who helped me over the phone said the manager will call me on Thursday. I will keep you all posted and will be updating my rating if they handle this situation any better. read more

I'm not sure if I can write a review for the vet clinic on here, but here it goes. The staff is great! No problems there! However, it's regarding a young man in the clinic. He wasn't wearing scrubs like the rest and he called the doctor "Mom". Isn't this an OSHA violation? Or HIPA? Why is some kid in a space that deals with sensitive information that's not a worker? I really love this clinic, but if the doctor is allowing her family to view my personal information than I need to say something. read more

Extremely unprofessional. I called before to see if they could get my dog in for a grooming. Called 5 minutes later to confirm the appointment and I was put on hold, hung up on, and ignored. Drove to the store and found the groomers eating and drinking bill millers. I told the groomer I tried calling and her response was "sorry the breakfast arrived so we all rushed to eat". This was at 10 in the morning. I went to pick my dog up at around 2 and spoke to the manager. I was informed that she allows the groomers to eat while on the clock, but would speak to them. Very unhappy, took my shih tzu for 1st hair trim. I requested top of head stay long and leave the tail alone. When it was time to pick up my puppy, she was given a Marine crew cut and tail was shortened! The groomer said that my pup " wiggled too much and caused her to shave more than intended" not a good excuse for a "professional" should have just let it alone on top. Went to purchase food for my new rescue and couldn't find a cart at the front to help load my bags of dog food in to continue shopping. When I asked one of the employees if they had any carts she said they were down to three (3) for the entire store. Funny enough as I looked around at that time of her answer I saw several carts full of merchandise the store clerks were using to restock. I guess it's more important to use carts to restock instead of allowing customers to use them to purchase merchandise. Not the best experience and probably helped solidify my decision to shop at Petsmart just across the way on Dezavala in the future. read more

I'm a huge fan of this Petco's grooming service! The staff was very professional and and made me feel comfortable leaving my puppers with them. My dog is a small terrier with a wiry coat and they gave him a nice trim, keeping it neat around the face and tail without cutting too much. I can tell Bear had a good time too - he was very happy when we picked him up! As a side note this is one of the larger Petco stores I've seen and they have just about everything there. Everyone I have talked to is so helpful at this location! I love the grooming salon here too. They are always so good with my both my Australian Shepherds. Mikey and Ori love coming to get groomed here. When we get in the parking lot it's like they both know there going to see the lady's in grooming. I absolutely love this store and the Vets are great so I was expecting a good experience the groomers. I'm still in shock and have no idea what I paid for! My dog looks no different nor smells different then when we arrived despite them telling me he was bathed. All I heard we're excuses about how he was too much for them and it would be dangerous to cut him on that condition. Yet they managed to keep him for 4 hours and didn't bother calling. Are employees of petco trained to avoid people and not offer to help them? This happens at every petco. I will be looking at fish for 20 minutes, and there is not an employee in sight that can help. The lady barely cut my dogs nails, and was in a bad mood before she even cut her nails. Then got pissed off when my dog started jumping around when she tried cutting her back nails, dogs are going to do that. Hazel is a mature rescue dog who is blind. I'm very cautious about where I take her for grooming. I have never had any issues taking her to Petco. She's always relaxed and happy going in and when I pick her up. They take great care of her. Angelica was her groomer and Hazel loved her. Will continue to go back and recommend. read more

This store and it's corporate office are a total scam. I've been a fish enthusiast over 20+ years and have bought many fish here. I bought a $20 betta less than 24 hours ago and it died. I brought this fish in to the store without a receipt and was told that because I didn't have a physical receipt I couldn't exchange it. When asked if they could reprint it they said they do not do that. I was treated like a criminal and a liar for a $20 fish which I wanted to exchange. The girl who rung up the transaction 24 hours prior was the employee telling me this. I chose to contact the corporate office and was told that they were able to exchange anything else I bought during that transaction without a receipt, which included an aquarium, but they would not exchange the fish. They said this after calling the store and speaking to the same exact employee because I saw them through the window. I am a tattooed man with 2 arm sleeve tattoos and believe I was racially profiled by the 2 Anglo Store employees. I've never been so offended in my life. I urge everyone to stay away from this store and especially Sierra who was going to deny me the moment I walked through the door. I love Petco. This one is by far my favorite. It's so well-organized and the staff is really helpful. I just recently adopted a dog and on the same day I took him to buy some food/toys. While I was walking around all the staff was admiring him and asking if I needed anything. This particular petco has a pet nutritionist who walks around on Sundays from 2PM-6PM. She is so helpful. She helped me pick out the best food for him and treats. She was really knowledgable about animals too, which was extremely helpful.
