You won't find a better professional service than LOMA for training your dogs. We have two little guys that really needed their help. We just might be one of the most difficult cases LOMA has ever had. Our two rescues were fighting and we called LOMA in absolute desperation. They seemed to get along really well at first and then things went really wrong. We had no idea what to do. We were at a loss. Dr. Lorraine had to use every trick and tool she has to help our boys and to help us too! At that time, our two boys were about 2 years old. We had many so many trials and errors. Dr. Lorraine was incredibly patient with us. The training really was for us just as much as it was for our dogs. Our boys are now 7 years old and they have both made a complete turn around. They aren't the same dogs anymore. They have developed some good manners and they have learned to get along with each other. They actually enjoy having people come to visit versus having the meltdowns they used to have when someone set foot into our house. We have consistently kept Dr. Lorraine's instructions as part of our daily routine. The time and money we spent training our dogs was a very valuable investment for us. I reached out to LOMA after using a different behaviorist.. the main reason that I chose LOMA was because of their experience working with aggressive dogs especially ones with bite histories. They didn't hold my dogs aggressiveness against him or us, but instead helped us to understand his body language, to recognize situations that would make him uncomfortable and how to help him in those circumstances. We spent 5 sessions with Lorraine and it was completely amazing. We loved that Lorraine brought an assistant along each time. It helped to have multiple people to expose him to, but also helped that she could be 100% attentive to him. The tools that she taught us have been life changing. Lorraine and her service were an absolute godsend for my wife and I. We brought home a dog from ACS a few weeks ago, and to say this dog was challenged would be a huge understatement. Our dog has severe anxiety issues, and it was quite clear he had been severely abused. All of our prior dogs we had adopted from foster homes. This was our first "real" shelter dog, and it was intimidating to say the least. I had inquired about a dog walking service online, and as I was talking to the owner of the business about our dog and the challenges we were facing, she mentioned LoMa immediately. They passed Lorraine's number on to me and I called her service to inquire about a consult. Within 10 minutes of making that phone call, Lorraine had returned my call and was at our house that night for a 90 minute consultation with our dog. Things went great, and she helped us understand a bit more about what we were up against. Fast forward to almost 3 weeks later, and Lorraine is still staying in touch and monitoring our dog's progress. She doesn't have to do this, but she does. It shows the level of care and professionalism she has towards our four legged friends, and I am so glad she was placed in our path. We scheduled a home consult to address a couple things we've noticed in our rescued dog's behavior: aggression/biting issue with men coming into our home (even friends he's met before), crying a lot when we leave the house, barking at people passing by our house, at our neighbors and their dogs. The trainer was really nice and was great with our dogs! Knew how to greet them and let them come to her. However, as far as recommendations for our classes package and what we would work on... not so much. We were recommended to close our blinds in order for him not to bark at people/dogs passing by. We were told to talk to our neighbors about getting on a schedule when they could take out their dogs vs. when we could take out ours so they would not be out at the same time. We were told to talk to our vet about meds to treat anxiety so he could be more at ease when we left the house. These recs to me sounded like we should AVOID the situations that gives our dogs issues instead of working with the situation and assure the dog it is okay for people to walk by, come in, etc. I guess I just expected way more from seeing all the previous reviews. If your dog has greeting issues (jumping on people, friendly nibbles, too much energy, etc) but is overall friendly I'm sure LOMA could do a good job for you, but for a serious issues I wouldn't recommend. I really wanted to treat the issues, not avoid them, thus we chose not to move forward with this specific training facility. read more

We have two large dogs and the larger one (male) is submissive to the smaller one (female). She is very sweet with humans, and kittens/puppies (they bring out maternal instincts in her), but she can be aggressive with other adult dogs under certain circumstances. Owning a dog is a lifetime commitment, so re-homing her was not an option. A LOMA trainer came to our home and did a thorough assessment. Lorraine Martinez is a true professional and miracle worker! My bulldog was agressive with every dog he encountered. I foster for the San Antonio English Bulldog rescue and adopted another bulldog. Bringing the second bulldog into my home was a challenge because they had to be separated at all times. Using the training provided by Lorraine and LoMa my two bulldogs are now able to be in the same room together!!! This was accomplished in just a few months. IF YOURE THINKING ABOUT CHOSING THIS BEHAVIORAL TRAINING PROGRAM FOR YOUR PET ... DO IT !!! The training is well worth the price ! my dog is 5 years old and has had anxiety and fear problems that come off as very aggressive behavior issues . My dog made a lot of progress during the six session pack , he went from tolerating a stranger from about 6 feet away to being able to tolerate them being closer than such ... although his problems have not completely disappeared he is much more comfortable now around people . We also chose to work on muzzle training and came a long way as well , when before he didn't find it exciting or payed interest or even got frustrated when working with the muzzle to now enjoying practicing commands with it on and being comfortable wearing it for long periods at a time. Whatever the problem there might be you want to help fix with your pet , choose loma :) They help every step of the way in such an organized and easy way you and your pet will enjoy the journey to becoming an even better friend and pet in no time . read more

Training was decent however the owner isn't the one that actually does the training. The jeffree, Christie put ne on the wait list for the class the following month which to me is not a confirmation. They sent me an email about it a few days before class but I don't live by my email...a phone call would have been better and this situation wouldn't have happened. Moving from the wait list to the actual list I feel like you should have to confirm that which I did not because I didn't know I was moved. They charged me the $20 for the class as a no show. I tried to talk to the owner nicely about it, that I didn't blow them off I just didn't get the email in time and that I also just my job and I needed every penny. The owner doesn't care. She replied back that she sent the email and therefore it's my fault. I tried to message her again saying I didn't get it because I don't live by my inbox. Ignored me. RIP off and will not be using again. read more

Lorraine is amazing. She recommended a training book to me called When Pigs Fly for working with the more difficult breeds. If you want an idea of her training methods READ the book! I adopted a terrier mix and was at a loss as to how to get him to even come to his own name. My only other dog had been a Lab who was super easy to train. We have a young toddler at home and her techniques have helped me to keep both dog and child safe and happy together. I feel so lucky that we found her. She has blessed us with the greatest dog ever. It took no small amount of work on my part but she was clear about that from the beginning. We are forever grateful. read more

The technique and items taught were helpful but the instructor and location were not. I originally found this trained based on location to my home. It was listed close to 1604 and Bandera but the location of training classes were on NW Military and 410. After a long day of work its not the drive you want. I went ahead out of pure desperation (my dog is crazy and we needed training). The building where the training happens is the lobby of a boarding facility. Small and tiny spot with not much room to work. POOR location. The instructor seemed to primarily focus on 1 or 2 dogs and left the rest to her "assistant" who did nothing more than say "good job". The assistant (dont know exactly what she was or what she was there to do) seemed lost. I was not impressed and would not recommend this training company to anyone else. read more
