I took my Blake, a Braque du Bourbonnais to Heather N for Grooming and Bathing in the Prince Frederick Petco store. Heather was amazing with Blake, he was so very good for her which was the first-time he was left alone at a grooming bathing facility! He loved her so much that she came with me to help me make a purchase afterwards to lead him for me, which I have a problem with sometimes when I'm purchasing and carrying packages; and he was excellent with Heather. I took Sami here to get groomed for Thanksgiving last year. I have a full bred Golden Retriever and she had never been groomed before. I took a picture of what I wanted her to look like. The groomer said no problem and off I went. When I came back to get her I didn't recognize her. They had cut all her hair off! She now looked like a Lab and not a Golden. This cost me $100 at that!! I came to this Petco to return a pair of bamboo tweezers for my sons Lizard. They cost $10.99 when I took them back the cashier was super rude When I asked why are they not taking returns and when will they take returns. I mean this is a general question. He did point out the sign which I read and said ok. Another associate said Petco can not loose money now during a pandemic well guess what neither can I. Than I politely asked can I exchange the item, he said yes. I just need tweezers so my son can feed his lizard grasshoppers you can't hold them and feed them to a lizard and those were the only tweezers this store had. The tweezers are huge but one of the associates in the store told me on my last visit they would be perfect they weren't. Anyways I go get a new pair of the tweezers and he tells me the price I'm like why is the total $13 I only got 15 large crickets, you said I can exchange. He's like no you can't looking at my all crazy and just bad customer service. Last time I come here the same guy was at the register and I purchased crickets, mil worms and the tweezers and his attitude was horrible than also. He told me small crickets were available and he gave me xsmall I don't think he even knows that's a size. He just cones off as super cocky and mean and I'm not sure why. I would recommend finding an employee to run the register that has manners and knows how to be polite. read more

Please beware!!! Do not take your pets here to get groomed. I was walking past the grooming window and saw a Groomer mistreat a dog who was scared and skittish to get a haircut. The Groomer grabbed the pup by his paw yanking him or her back trying to cut there hair. Clearly they were hurting the pup. Finally after another Groomer noticed my facial expression of disappointment due to mistreatment they stepped in to help. But by then the pup was already scared. It took seeing me to fix the situation, so imagine what they do behind closed doors to these animals that need proper grooming. Please stay away!! read more

Deathco is more like it. My father and I set up a fishtank late Sunday evening. It looked lonely, so we made a last minute run to the Prince Frederick Petsmart before it closed. We made it in with a half an hour to spare before closing. I wanted some simple, ornamental goldfish and figured it was an easy purchase. It would have been a easy purchase but for two reasons. One, the tanks were really showcases for the dead and dying where the goldfish were concerned. The blackmoors were lying about in heaps, Shubukins were rotting and stuck in their filters, slimy looking Ryukins we're dining on the corpses of their tankmates. Calico fantails floated about like Titanic victims. It was a fishy horror show. Two...the resident fish wrangler, who I'll just refer to as "Fishboy", was much to busy entertaining his mouth-breathing buddies by tossing minnows into the Oscar tank to help us spring a what few healthy goldfish were remaining. After waiting for 20 minutes I decided to give up on the three healthy goldies I could find, two fantails and a pearlscale I decided to buy just to get them out of there, and began re-shelving the other items. It was getting late, the PA had announced they were closing and Fishboy and his buddies were just too entranced by the hypnotic powers of minnow eating death fishto get his attention. That's when my father went completely New York on their southern maryland inbred asses. Something to the tune of "Hey Pal, youze gonna keep screwin' with dem fish or you gonna do your goddam job?" Loud. Real loud. Fishboy was startled and his buddies though twice about angering the little guy that looked suspicously like Uncle Junior, so they moved on. Fishboy just stared until Dad came up with "You gonna wait until them three she's lookin' at jump inna bag, or die, or what?" I think Fishboy was convinced he was going to be "whacked" and suddenly, I had three healthy fish ready to go. We grabbed some food and got the heck out of there. I can't speak for the rest of their animals in this particular Petsmart, but the concentration camp goldfish tank and it's attendent need to be removed. Dad is a polite guy, but the dead fish and poor service set him off, which I found pretty funny. I'm really disappointed at both the service and welfare of the fish in the aquatic section of this particular PetSmart. It stinks like last week's baked ziti. read more

Went there today with my son to buy some accessories and some new fish for our tank. Had to ask three people for help getting fish (but honestly, that's the way it always is in that store). When someone did come, after 20 minute wait, I received the most condescending lecture about keeping fish. There are ways to ask customers about their experience with fish without being a snob, and without telling the customer your own fish credentials and how much of your disposable income you spend on your own fish. When we FINALLY got around to me asking for the fish I wanted, I was told immediately that "those fish were not recommended." So, basically, this salesman was not going to sell me any fish but he was happy to stand there and quiz me on my knowledge of fish and waste my time. I left after that-and I left behind the full cart of aquarium accessories I was about to purchase. I got the distinct impression that this salesman thought I was just a dumb woman who couldn't handle keeping fish in a tank. I bet he would have sold them to my husband. read more

Petco - Pet Stores Near Me - Prince Frederick, Maryland

This is more or less the local Petco in our area. Many of the staff make it a point to say hi to Morris whenever I bring him in. Some have even nicknamed him "The Happy Dog". He loves everybody and any attention they will give to him. I like the grooming department here and I have the same girl do his grooming. It can be a little more expensive with add-ons but they always do a good job with him. He hates getting wet at all so I am sure he can be a pain. They don't really carry any upscale brands of dog food and I tend to get those elsewhere or over the internet. But I occasionally pick up some treats here or miscellaneous items. I have been to many Petco's across the country and this is without a doubt one of the better locations. Most of the staff actually enjoy being around the pets. read more

I've been sitting on this for a couple weeks trying to decide if I really wanted to put a review but I think I should for the sake of other beloved pets being groomed. First off I walked in and a dog was getting its coat trimmed no big deal, it wasn't making a ton of noise wasn't growling and showing teeth from what I could tell but the groomer just kept yelling no ma'am at it constantly. Honestly, she was just making the situation worst being very rude to the dog and making my my husband and my dog all nervous. I was contemplating just walking out but my dog really needed her nails trimmed and I don't know how to do it. So I went ahead with it since the lady at the register was going to do it and then she turned out just as rude and in a bad mood at the other lady. My dog could tell and wanted nothing to do with these ladies. I was holding her while they began trimming her nails and another groomer walked in looking absolutely pissed off. My dog started making noise slightly growling but not trying to bite and I had a hold of her so she wouldn't have been able to bite the groomer no matter what. My dog has never bit anyone she was just scared and I don't blame her. The groomer kept complaining about how my dog ones going to bite her and then proceeding to ask if my dog was biting me (once again my dogs never bit anyone). I finally told her once we just had one paw left that she didn't have to do it and we could just take my dog pay and go and instead she took my dog from me had another worker hold her and clipped it anyways as I tried to say once again it's fine I can just take her and go. I was so pissed off and I didn't want my little 7 lb dog to get hurt because I'm tryin. To hold her while someone trying to take her and I was just in shock that's the only reason I didn't fight to keep her in my arms more. Her nails were just fine I'm just very upset that it all happened this way and the workers were so mean and unwelcoming. We then walked over to check out at the register and my dog was so happy to not be around those ladies and so was I. The cashier then asked me if I wanted to leave a tip for the groomer and unfortunately I said no I'm fine when really I should've left a verbal tip even though he was talking about a monetary tip. It's the worst experience I've had with a groomer and I'll never go there for grooming again. They obviously don't care about the animals they come in contact with. read more

When we looked up the hours on line it said that grooming was open until 9. So we packed up our fat bulldog to get his nails clipped. When we got there they were closed. They need to keep their website updated so it doesn't inconvenience people. Loading a 100 lbs fat bulldog is not fun. read more

Delia the grooming manager did a great job in correcting an unbelievably bad cut by another groomer at another place. Their cuts looked great, and moreover the dogs were very relaxed and happy when we picked them up, which was a good sign as to their experience there. The fact that she is also a dog trainer and knows canine behavior probably had a lot to do with that. Im happy we found someone local that we can rely on. Besides this have to give credit to Petco for their return policies, they take things back no questions asked. This takes away any risk in trying things that our dogs may not like. But since we end up buying a lot more stuff from Petco, its a win/win for everybody. read more

if there was any way to leave a review without stars I would. Employees lie about product (LIVE MICE) being in stock continuously. If there was any other way for me to feed my snake I wouldn't be shopping here again, Petco is the only place that carries live mice. Their customer service line is a JOKE!! They suggested I feed the snake frozen mice. If you've eaten hot live food for 14+ years would you want to switch to cold dead food? I don't think so!! read more

First off when you set up a fish tank the first fish you put in it are gonna die if you don't have the proper pH. You never put fish in a tank you just filled with tap water and should let it sit for a week to a month and acquire the proper nitrates. You should probably look into setting up a fish tank before even buying one or any pet for that matter. With that said, Petco takes decent care of their animals. Well, as good as they can in a retail pet store. Remember that a pet from a specialty store is going to be healthier than retail but also more expensive. Oh and if you need help with something and no one has asked you if you need any maybe you walk up to someone and ask for help instead of standing there staring at a fish tank. I know you shouldn't have to but seriously, it's the smart thing to do. read more

Simply Terrible.There are rarely any people at the fish dept. However most of the people there are pretty nice the others very bad service. I got fish there and they died the next week. The tank was cycled,the fish in their tanks did look pretty healthy but something jacked them up because I had my tank checked for quality and nothing is wrong with the water so I'm planning to switch to Animal World because Petco needs to get their freakin fish tanks checked read more

I will drive the 50 or so minutes to the Annapolis Petsmart Store instead where they ask about your pet by name and treat you fairly and respectfully. I decided to take Riley Rover in to Petco for a toenail clipping when they had a $10 special at Christmas. Riley Rover, who is a special needs Golden Retriever, was too much of a handful for them to complete the nail trimming. When I returned to get him, I was told we were "unwelcome" to return. Their policy was to keep the fee even though they did not complete the job. I asked to speak to a manager to no avail. I wrote an email and received no response. I guess they need to learn a little about how you treat customers from the Panera across the way that treats you like a milIion bucks and that I visit almost every day. One is too high a score for Petco. Zero is closer but I will vote with my feet ( or Jeep wheels) and head to their Annapolis Competitor hereon. Their customer service policy is a big zero. read more

I normally come in here, get what I need and leave with no problems. Usually a pretty average retail experience. But today I felt that a review was necessary. I got what I needed off the shelf (it was just a card for something kept behind the counter) and the cashier informed me that they were out of stock. Well, another employee, Kimmy came up and informed me of other options and took me back and explained how they were similar/different. She seemed very knowledgeable and eager to help, definitely not your typical "I'm just here for the paycheck" retail employee. It was really refreshing to see someone so upbeat and positive! On our way back to the counter, she even informed me of their price matching program with their website which saved me about $20! I'm pretty sure any other employee at most other establishments would've rang me up, taken my money and told me to have a nice day (which is fine, that's what they're paid to do after all) but Kimmy really went above and beyond and that's pretty awesome if you ask me! She earned their store five stars from this guy! read more
