I have been shopping at this Petco off 120th and Washington for years and I have never seen this store as clean and taken care of. All of the employees are happy and working hard yet will still help me with a smile. The manager Sammy is always so cheerful and willing to help me she has so much knowledge on all the different animals. The animals are very well taken care of, and the fish tanks are spotless, I have never seen fish tanks that clean in any pet store. read more

We came here to get our dog a bath, nails trimmed, and teeth brushed. Upon arrival our dog was slightly scared(tail between the legs), as she is every time she gets a bath. The girl at the desk scolded us saying our dog needs to get groomed once a month so she's comfortable and that 'she would try her best' to groom our dog. We've bathed our dog ourselves every month since we got her, doesn't change that she hates baths. She had a poor attitude and we left to groom our dog ourselves. We won't be back here, even for shopping, ever again. Also they quoted 4 hours for these few tasks. With the respiratory virus going around that's insane! So they don't do nose to nose contact. From what I've heard this virus is super contagious and just smelling the same thing another dog sniffed could infect them!! read more

This is the best Petco in all of Colorado! I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door by the cashier Donna Valentine who was so nice and welcoming,  I was helped by the assistant manager of the store Kat Mountain, she was so knowledgeable about every single product I inquired about, she even helped me pick out a cat pole suitable to fit my large cat she explained so much to me about thongs I need to know about my cats food and about everything thing I bought for him. Both Kat and Jarrod Vandenberg helped me carry all my items up front and even put my products in my car for me. Dylan, the cashier, is a Rockstar he gave me advice on my cat and the items I bought. * this is for grooming only- the products in this store are great!* So I take my dog to Petco for grooming this am for the first time. Doors don't even open until 9 and at that time went right back to grooming. I see a lady with two dogs in there already. The dogs are already barking at us through the glass door. So I go to open the door a crack to let her know I am here for my 9 am appointment. The worker jumps up and runs around The desk And locks the door to make sure I'm not gonna come in. I'm not stupid and going to subject my dog to that- I simply wanted to let her know I was here. So I sat outside the grooming area for 10 min fuming in my anger and then decided to leave. This was terrible customer service if she thinks I'm dumb enough to bring my dog in that small space with two bigger barking dogs then I don't think she deserves to groom my dog- there was no need to lock the door on me. If I could give zero stars I would. A couple weeks ago I bought a Pleco and some gold inca snails. within a week the pleco was dead, all my other fish and the snails were fine, nothing wrong with my water. I took the dead pleco back, could not find my receipt, but since they have my phone# and could easily look up the transaction I didn't think it was a big deal, Apparently it was a big deal, I decided to let that go and get a few more snails and a couple shrimp. The gal that helped me didn't normally work that department I didn't know what she was doing, instead of getting assistance from another employee, she just did I guess the best she could do, she seriously manhandled the poor little critters, I told myself that I would be surprised if they made it home. They did, but a few days later, all dead, again, the rest of my fish are just fine. I even told the cashier to keep the receipt because I would not be back. So I am out the money for 1 fish, 2 snails and 2 shrimp. I made the mistake of going back there after another incident that really angered me a couple years ago, My bad. I was looking for something for my dog, checked the website to see if they had it, checked the price online and was okay with it. go to the store to get it since I wanted it right away instead of waiting for shipping. I get there, find it and see that it is $60 more than online!! I checked the SKU, yup exact same item, showed them my phone with their own website and the item and they refused to honor the online price, so they punish those that actually go into the store. Obviously I did not buy it there. I will never ever go back into that store again, It's always filthy and the employees just don't care. After driving 2 dogs 20 minutes to their location to get a full service grooming, I was Asked to show there Rabies records. This was the first Time I had heard about it, and it seems their tags are not significant proof (there must be a big black market for dog tags). I reread the confirmation email and it said nothing about it. Would it have been hard to Include a "things to bring" section? So we rescheduled both dogs next weekend at Petsmart. To make it worse the employee was quite smug about the whole thing, her attitude couldn't have fixed things but it did exacerbate things! read more

The store on 120th and Washington Ave has the worst customer service and some really sick fish. Bought four fish last week and all were dead within 5 days. They refused to refund my money. My tank is well taken care of and established. My existing fish have also died now (within three days of the death of the last new fish). The new fish were the only change in the environment. Also note, a thorough acclamation was done with the new fish to support temperature and water adjustments. read more

This location is just a crap shoot. Half the time aisles are so cramped and full of products sitting to be placed in their proper locations or I don't know back in the storage area but You seriously need to have 2 people working in that store at all times. You had a cashier in there who I guess didn't have much common sense as you have 5 people waiting to check out and someone decides to bring back food. I don't know use your brain to call for backup? How about not give attitude to the customers that are waiting on your slow a** or asked if there was anyone else that can assist since it was taking you over 10 minutes to refund food that you STILL didn't get done. Whoever is in charge of this store you need to take your cashier the dude with a ponytail that worked on 9/5/2024 and train him on customer service. Oh and staff your store better. Have taken my dog to the petco in Broomfield several times for a bath and those girls are fantastic. It's just a bit further from my house. The last time I brought him here they said his hair was matted on his belly and recommended shaving and I said that was fine. I do like his longer hair and try to brush at home. I felt shamed by them for not brushing every single day. I even bought the brush they recommended. I meant to book at Broomfield again and accidentally booked here again and figured I would try again. Came in for my appt and she instantly said he's matted on his butt and he needs to get a haircut (not just a bath). I told her I don't want him cut. She said they usually cut his breed and I told her I don't care I like his hair long. She said because of them recommending his cut they don't have time today and can't do it and sent me away. Again got shamed. I could feel a matted spot in one area but it's completely brush-able. Again the girls at Broomfield NEVER say a word, take him, brush him out and wash him and say how good he did and do what needs to be done and says he does great. Will not be trying this grooming location ever again, learned my lesson. Will be leaving a good review with the girls in Broomfield location. Try that instead they are wonderful! read more

Small store, filthy, and won't let you use the bathroom as a paying customer. They claim it's because of the Colorado health department says they don't have to. However, the other Petco stores in Colorado allow customers to use the bathroom. Customer service is not the priority here at this store. read more

It kills me to give a one. I was denied a fish after extensive research on my established bio cube 32. I received it as an established tank with live rock, sand and healthy bacteria, yet continued to do water changes and filter cleaning for a full month of healthy in range water levels. I was told today that I could not purchase a clown fish with a tank less than 60 gallons. This is after I patiently waited for the clerk to "fish" out a momma fish that had just laid eggs and was "aggressive" as her babies swam around her. The gentleman was asked it he "was cool" with the fact that the mom still had several eggs in her mouth. Funny part is he was never questioned about the size of his tank. In addition, I noted at least 4 deceased sea stars just rotting in the tanks. I will never return and feel sorry for any pet cared for at this location read more

Just read a sickening article on Denver Petco locations, but this store had to be the most grotesque. How could the store "manager", Stacy, be this negligent, oblivious, and downright irresponsible to let these poor animals go untreated and die? For someone who "manages" a pet supply store, you think they'd be more compassionate to innocent animals. I just took our two dogs in to be groomed. The gals were great and the service was excellent, but took longer than expected, almost 4 hours. Alexis was the groomer. In addition, even with coupons, the total with a $20 tip was $160.00. That is a little steep in my mind. I am going to have to do some price comparison. read more

As with most chain pet stores you can find the basics of toys food and small furry animals. I have two cats so that's the only section I really go to. The store it cleanish and the staff are friendly enough all of which rates a 3 but the thing that drags it down is the prices. EVERYTHING in there has a mark up on it. Normal bowls and food is 30% more here then say Wal-mart or Target. Toys you can find cheaper at Petsmart or the aforementioned chain stores. The only good deal in the entire store is when you hit a sale on their canned food and litter. At that point it becomes only slightly less and the inconvenience of having to go to another store for pet food is offset by the marginal savings and decent selection. read more

I really don't know why we are forced to give even one star. The customer service I just received has made me a Chewy.com customer for life. I waited in line way too long while watching employees chit chat. I was 5th or 6th in line when I entered the queue and after 8 - 10 minutes of watching one checker working, they finally sent a second checker in. That person had been chatting with yet another employee across the main aisle and it was clear they were not talking about work. I had a heavy basket (there weren't any carts when I entered the store) and, as a senior citizen with the aches and pains that go along with that, it was an uncomfortable wait, made worse because the staff don't have any sense of urgency when there's a long queue of customers. When I was called to the check-out by the first checker, Amanda, she thanked me for my patience, acknowledging that she was aware of the long line. This is an irritating thing to do. What made her think I was being patient? I told her I didn't feel patient and would have appreciated a little thoughtfulness toward the customers waiting a long time. But I didn't get that sentence out before Amanda cut me off mid-sentence to tell me in a loud, patronizing tone "Oh, I apologize we'll get you on your way now." The tone is a very important part of this experience. She may have said the words "I apologize" but since she interrupted me to say it, she might as well have said "Shut up, I don't want to hear your complaint. I need YOU to listen to ME!" Since I didn't get to finish my first sentence, or the rest of my complaint which was about the second checker standing around chatting before they finally called her to the check-out, it only made matters worse. (Elementary customer service training says to listen fully to the customer. This calms an angry customer down and really speeds up the interaction. It is clear Petco doesn't invest in this with their new employees, nor expect if of their staff.) She continued to cut me off and speak in a loud, condescending tone for the whole while I was trying to make my point. Another female employee was standing beside Amanda during the exchange and when I tried to tell Amanda that her interruptions and patronizing tone were insulting and disingenuous (big word for some; it means not genuine) that woman jumped in to say she had called the second checker because she saw me looking at her. She also defended Amanda's tone, saying something to the effect that that is just who Amanda is, it isn't condescending. I told her I didn't want to listen to her defend someone who was treating me rudely. For the rest of the time I spoke to that woman and Amanda continued to interrupt us to complete the transaction. I told them both that I wouldn't shop at Petco again and that Amanda was rude as hell. As I left the store Amanda called out loudly, in the same fake tone, "Have a nice day!" Weaponizing a term that was once a pleasantry. Customer service has plummeted to new depths in the last several years. read more

This location canceled several grooming appointments in a row. Either someone quit, someone's sick, over booked...etc. after several cancellations on their part, my Maltese was matted. She doesn't enjoy being brushed snd washed by me as I previously cut her, which is why I pay to get her groomed now. They charged me matted work fees of $15 extra. She was only matted cause they kept canceling. Then they heavily insinuated that I was neglecting her due to the mats and next time they'd be required to send her to a vet. I'm never going back and I've taken my dogs here for 5 years. My dogs are well taken care of and spoiled. Had they not canceled her hair wouldn't of been matted. I was angry and hurt. Now I can't trust them. The new staff changes at this location suck. I wish the previous head groomer never left. I never had issues before she left. read more

Worst fucking experience ever. Im so furious. Brought my two year old on Sunday 11/13/22 to get a couple of fish. When i walked in it was disorganized and took over 30 mins to get help. When i finally did. The so called "manager" the little girl with purple hair was rude and short with me and my wife about some fish and our tank size then suggested some dying fish near the front. Um No its my money and i want four minoe that only grow up to two and a half inches or at least that's what the sign said. Any way after paying for them she refused to give them to us saying or tank was to small not even asking a gallon size. All she had to do was scoop up 4 fish and we would have left. But her excuse was it tank wasn't conditioned. All while selling some white people a BRAND NEW UNCONDITIONED TANK AND FISH. Smh. Huh that's weird she just told us mexican people that we couldn't do that. I've always bought ferrets from this Petco and today I decided to go in to take a look. Sadly the cage was so severely dirty and looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in months. I feel really bad for the baby ferrets that don't get a clean cage and are being swarmed by flies... hopefully someone saves them soon read more

Horrible, horrible customer service. This is now the third time our grooming appointment has been cancelled. The first time it was cancelled was due to overbooking. The second time they cancelled due to one groomer quitting so apparently no one else could trim my dogs nails. This last time they called one hour before my appointment time and asked to reschedule because of the 'type' of dog she was. She said she could 'still try her best' Yeah right I'm gonna leave my dog for you to rush and stumble over. That's safe. They left a voicemail because I was at work. (Apparently they need extra time than normal to wash a 1yr old well behaved short hair puppy). So I called Petco groomers and then was given the lie they are only allowed to schedule dogs until 2:00pm even though we set the appointment through the online website and it showed both 3:30pm and 3:45pm available. I called back and asked to speak to a manager about it and was told to hold on while he passed me over to the groomers. No. I called to speak to you. When we WERE able to get her groomed there it was great and we liked the girls and that's why we kept trying but I am just very disappointed. read more

Her fur was still matted and he didn't even dry her after washing her, plus she was on edge and scared all day after working with him. He is the guy with the floofy hair. I took my dog here a day early on accident. He was nervous (as are most dogs at the groomer) and so I always worked with Alexis, the dog whisperer. This place is 45 minutes each way commute for me and since my dog is talkative and nervous this is where I take him. Alexis never has an issue with him. My appointment was today and I came back and found out I would be working with Josh. My dog did what he normally does and growl-talks a bit, I had permission by his vet to give him half a benedryl to calm him down and thought it would help, but the manager said since he took benedryl and growled she couldn't force Josh to groom him. I asked Josh if he was okay with trying one more time and he said "Nope!" with a really mean smile. He is a mean spirited guy and I wasted 3 hours of my life for nothing, meanwhile he made an hourly wage for refusing to do the job. Make sure the appointment you set is with the right person, and if your dog isn't a perfect angel don't waste your time with Josh. read more

Will never take the dogs here for grooming/bath again. The manager was rude on the phone to me when it was unnecessary. We adopted a dog in April '16 and her records were in Spanish so we brought them for proof of rabies but that's all we had. They accepted them and gave her a bath. This time they said they wouldn't accept that without an English translation attached. It was the manager on the phone and she said she remembered it from when I brought my girl in last time, but this time that wouldn't work. She then started grilling me about when she was getting her next shot (because it appears she is due at the end of the month/early next month). This was all unnecessary since we were going to be bringing her in for a bath BEFORE the date the shots were due again. Overall, I felt I was treated very rude, and it was by a manager. I was only going to go to Petco this one time because my normal person's schedule was booked. I would recommend everyone find somewhere else to take your babies!! read more

Everytime I have gone here there is always someone smiling at you. I love their free puppy social gatherings, their vet times on Sunday, and their grooming service. Alexis and Madison are the best groomers we have ever had. I have one lazy pup who allows you to do whatever to her and another one who is so frightened and does not trust many people. I always take my dog to Petco to have her bathed and her nails trimmed. This time when I picked her up she was terrified, and couldn't get out of the ladies arms fast enough. I paid to have her nails grinded down and they were still rough. When I looked at her nails there was a little blood spot on her fur and I was not informed about this. Do not bring you per in to get groomed here. The people are friendly, but the grooming studio is disgusting and it felt like I was dropping off my dog in a Saw movie. Not only that later that night when I was petting him he started to whimper when I touched his ears. I started to look And came to realize that there were not one, not two, but THREE giant slice marks on his ear. There was such negligence behind whoever cut his hair. I switched to this PetCo from a more convenient location (in the parking lot of my job) due to that one not taking care of their fish and always having them in quarantine. It seems that at first I had pleasant trips at this location, except for spending 10-15 min looking for an employee. I am livid now and will not go to another PetCo for fish again. Exactly 1 week ago today I bought 3 guppies from them due to my 5 yr old losing her beta. I have NEVER had an issue with sickness in fish and this is where I get angry. One of the guppies was DOA when I got home. I acclimated the fish and observed them for the first few hours like always. The next day I took the dead fish and explained to the clerk what happened. He argued with me about the guppy being a beta because I had it in a beta jar due to having accumulating a few. Finally I got a replacement but to no surprise the other two guppy's died a couple of days later and so did the replacement. Now my entire tank is infected. I've been medicating to try and save my daughters tank. The few fish that had been flourishing for months are now very sick and I am doing everything possible to save them. Waiting and searching for ANYONE who works there was my only complaint before but now that I have seen that they just do not take care of their fish, I will not be back for anything fish related. I already stopped buying dog food because they stopped carrying what my dog eats. I will be taking my business elsewhere to a company that gives better service to the animals they have in their care. read more

Never going to any petco again. Company sends out false coupons that literally are lies and even the employees have to admit the company is terrible and False advertises. They have cut their stores hours to where they don't have anyone to help until they have a slow down at the check out counter. I'm over it now! Use to be a great store with lots of help.
