I'd love to share my experience at Petco, especially thanks to the wonderful cashier, Kayden. Kayden took the time to explain how I could save money, and his suggestions were incredibly helpful. He introduced me to the membership plan, and even though it was $25 a month, Kayden showed me how it would save me more in the long run. He was right! Buying my dog food weekly with the membership has saved me a lot. Kayden was patient, thorough, and really made sure I understood all the benefits. When I picked up our dog from her grooming appointment, she had feces smeared on her backside. The cashier casually said they "just missed it." Another employee told me they had cleaned her multiple times -- which only made it more confusing and frustrating that she was returned to us still in that condition. When my wife called the grooming department, the grooming manager was extremely rude and dismissive. She claimed it was "not her problem" and blamed our dog for being anxious -- as if that excused the fact that this happened under their care. That kind of attitude is completely unprofessional. If a grooming service doesn't believe dogs are their responsibility while in their care, they shouldn't be entrusted with anyone's pet. To make things worse, when I asked to speak with the store manager, I was told she wasn't available and that I'd have to contact another store manager if I wanted to speak with someone -- another way of passing the buck instead of taking accountability. We will never return to Petco for grooming services and strongly recommend that other pet owners take their business elsewhere. Pets deserve care, not excuses and disrespect. read more

Update to the response: I appreciate the fast response. However, Vetco is my Veterinarian so I still don't fully understand why I can't have my dog groomed there. I've been taking my dog here for almost a year for grooming. Today was the first time they told me that because she has a heart murmur they can't bathe her. She's had a heart murmur before I even moved here. I specifically bought Vital Care Premier for the discount on grooming. Idk why they just can't have me sign a waiver. read more

First groom at this location for my doodle and I was happy with the results. The groomer took good care of her and she looked gtest. Staff was helpful with choosing shampoo, combs and brushes. I will return! read more

if you care about your dog, DO NOT TAKE THEM TO GET GROOMED HERE. Our sweet old dog was botched. She was not treated with care and came home with an uneven coat all around. She is currently trembling. If you charge a fee for elderly dogs, I expect them to be treated with care and respect. I would not recommend this business to anyone. Please do better. I can only pray she was treated with respect when there. read more

Please, please DO NOT bring your dog here to get groomed. We brought in my black lab 2 weeks ago and had the most traumatizing experience of our lives. Our boy came back with patches of fur missing off him and visibly shaken. Over the next few days, my happy sweet dog lost his appetite and stopped playing. His fur was falling out in clumps, and he had a red scaly rash. I had to take him to the vet to be treated for a bacterial skin infection. Apparently this can happen when groomers use dirty tools or products. This place needs to be shut down. UPDATE: Petco manager Suzanne from the Norman store got back with me and agreed to reimburse me for my dog's vet bills. She seemed genuinely concerned about my dog's experience. The workers are all polite and knowledgeable, however this location is very poorly managed! I recently visited and had to wait at least half an hour for an employee to approach me in the aquatic section. There was an employee helping other customers in the area, but I had to go to the cashier's desk twice to ask for an additional employee to assist me. I got the fish I waited for and it appears to be in good health so far, but I can't believe the ridiculously long time I had to wait to be helped! The employee busy helping the other customers was very nice, but they definitely needed help to ensure the section operates more briskly and smoothly. read more

I had an unbelievable encounter at the Norman Petco today. I went to get a saltwater angelfish. It was labelled as a Cream Angel but I pointed out that it was in fact a Singapore Angel. The Cream Angel is an easy fish but the Singapore is classified as difficult. The clerk agreed with me that the fish was mislabeled. The problem was the pricing. A Cream is $100 and a Singapore is $46. He told me that they have to sell it for the higher price and that someone who doesn't know the difference will pay the $100. I was shocked at his answer and I'm still a little angry about the situation. They intend to pass their mistake onto an unsuspecting customer who will likely kill the fish since they expect it to be easy to keep when it is actually very difficult. I was willing to give the fish a good home in my 10-year old reef tank but not for double the actual price. Corporate greed over the welfare of the animals. read more

This is for grooming department only. The store associates are very nice and helpful. However the grooming visit was pretty disappointing. My dog came home with a botched haircut. Did not look like something a professional did. The price they told me was 37 and I added 5 dollars for a nail grind. I have a small shin tzu with short hair. Price ended up being 47 plus another 5 dollars for nail grind which ended up being 52. It's not a problem if they just give me the right price in the first place and do a good job read more

Animals should not be kept in this poor environment. The birds are practically begging to have their tags removed. The fish are in small tanks and even smaller Tupperware containers. I usually go here when I'm done shopping at Target or Ulta nearby to get the waffle rawhides that my poodle loves, but they have been out for a couple of months now so, I only go in here to check if they have it in stock and if not I go elsewhere. read more

Do not go here, said they xrayed my dog and charged me a couple hundred but never gave her a sedative. My dog freaks out during an xray so Im calling bullshit. New vet said its common practice to use sedatives for xrays. They gave my dog injections that werent necessary and wouldn't give them to me to do at home and wants to charge me $30x3 times a week for a office visit for the unnecessary injection. Sounds a too shady to me. Dont go here, nothing but shady practices and assholes all around. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I WOULD. I just have to say that I rescued a kitten off the street while I was driving home one day, and decided to take him home with me. Before even taking him home I wanted to take him to the vet, because I have two, VERY HEALTHY, other rescued cats at home that I have had for years and wanted to avoid having to take ALL OF THEM to a vet. I called around town and the only place I could get into was the nearest Petco. I took him straight to the office and waited in the parking lot, with kitten, till his appointment. Although my new kid seemed happy and healthy, purring and all. He had a bit of a wheeze and a goopy eye and was a little bloated looking, but not starved. I told the vet from the jump that I wanted any and every testing, vaccination and deworming he could give him. They figured he's around 9 months so proceeded to tell me they could give him every vaccine and deworming because he was old enough. Needless to say the receipt list was long and I didn't scan every single thing because I had done this with two other cats before and figured They would do everything. I also explained I would spend whatever was needed to make sure my kid was healthy, so I was unbothered to spend over $200 on a first visit like this, because I know what it takes to RESCUE an animal with other animals in the home. After leaving the Vet I took my kid home and quarantined him in a room with his own litter box and food and water for a full week. I noticed he had some worms in his poo today. I knew right away it was tapeworm and decided I would go see if I could buy supplements because I had Roundworm treatment but I knew it wouldn't treat the tapeworm, and also knew if he had them the others had them. I was frustrated from the jump because I didn't understand why the treatment didn't work and/or trying to find something to do about it WITHOUT Spending $100 at another vet visit. I went into Petco and talked to the manager and he explained that my kitten was NOT treated for tapeworm EVEN THOUGH, they knew he had fleas and know THATS where tapeworm comes from. After explaining I understood where they come from and my financial situation all the manager, he then tried to explain again that I need to treat the fleas in all the animals and whatever, and I frustratedly explained AGAIN that I KNOW all my animals have tapeworm because THEY did NOT treat him for tapeworm EVEN THOUGH HE HAD FLEAS. After even calling the CORPORATE OFFICE ALL I could get was a TOTAL OF MAYBE $30 on a $157 service for a recheck, two full exams, PLUS THE DOSAGE OF DEWORMER FOR TWO CATS OVER 12lbs AND a kitten. To sum it up, I'm greatly disappointed with the fact that NOT ONLY did they make a mistake by not deworming for tapeworms when I A) said give him EVERYTHING and B) HE HAD FLEAS?! And NO ONE could even offer me free exam visits and just give me the vaccinations when I just spent so much the first visit two weeks prior. So all in all I will NOT be going to ANY Petco EVER AGAIN. And I wouldn't recommend them to ANYONE. read more

This store is over priced, a 1.5gal glo fish fish tank cost $50 at Walmart its 24.99. After purchasing a tank and taking it home and let it cycle the water for 24 hours I returned to purchase 2 fish or even a fish. They would not allow me. So moral of the story a 1.5 fish tank which is sold at all location is a decorative piece and they will not allow you to buy fish. They say glo fish are fish that travel in groups, but the fish tanks in store had only 2-3 fish per tank. read more

worst pet store in Norman. cancelled my order 3 times without any notification or offering alternate items when one was out (and store failed to update the website each time). we have 6 guinea pigs and rely on hay shipment in bulk, and each time we have attempted to order through Petco they take the money and then cancel the order day before with absolutely no contact. management of the store is shitty especially in the vet hospital. just save a few bucks and shop at PetSmart where they sell actual healthy food for pets instead of PetCo's ridiculous crusade against all ingredients. read more

I've been bringing my Silkie/Yorkie (Chile) here for years after one too many issues with my vet's grooming of him. After requesting Chris for 3 years (having never experienced another Petco groomer), she was unavailable last year when we needed a specific date. We got Wren and she was fabulous! My husband (who had never before dealt with pet errands and isn't super personable) even remarked on how nice Wren was. We had the pleasure of Wren's services again this week. SHE IS WONDERFUL! Chile is happy and incredibly handsome. Not a single issue (rash/razor burn) we had experienced at our vets and she even tried a different blade to get a smoother cut. I honestly don't think one can get a "bad" groomer at this location but Wren was perfect and understanding, personable and hilarious. read more

WOW, love this place! We are getting a bearded dragon for the ten year old as he rocked his grades last semester and its reward time. We scored a great $200 55 gallon used aquarium for $20 on Bettie's list from a drug dealer on the NW side and after taking it to the DIY spray car wash to clean it, it sparkles! Now Petco is our go to location to outfit it and they've seriously saved us big cash by not selling us all the stuff some other stores tried to sell us that we really don't need! I'll never go anywhere else! Their reptile specialist showed me how to "sex" (tell if it's a bit or girl or a transgender that we have to allow to us any bathroom) the lizards in case we want to breed them. She told us what heat lamps, UV lamps, thermometer to measure heat, another meter to measure humidity, a misting sprayer to mist the lizard daily, food, water dish, food dish, sun basking rock, aquarium flooring, aquarium roofing, lizard toys, electrical timers, cricket feeders, blow up lizard for a companion, and on and on and on. We are now setting up the aquarium and running the lighting to insure we have the basking light creating a desert like 100 degrees F. Petco makes our reptilian dreams come true. The grooming is not my favorite place to take my dog because of the price and they are impersonal and rush her through the process. They care about my dog but they have so many customers that they don't take their time on her. I would rather get her groomed elsewhere. read more

I visited the store to hold a ferret and when I tried to find the staff they seem to keep disappearing into the back even though they saw we needed help. When we finally tracked an employee down she was very disrespectful and said unless we were going to buy one she has other things to do. Her name was Rataya. I scheduled a grooming for both my dogs. The lady who scheduled it could not find me in their system, so she called my vet to confirm that both my dogs were current on their rabies shots. She wrote my information down and told me she would put it in the system later. I drug myself out of bed on Sunday morning to make a 9:00 appointment. When I got there, they had no information in the computer relative to the appointment. They questioned me like I was lying to them, wanting to know what date I came in, the name of the person I talked to, etc. Eventually they got the manager there and he said unless I could verify their rabies vaccination, they could not groom my dogs. Fine. But, the thing that bothered me most was, throughout the whole discussion, there was not one apology from anyone. I got the impression that they didn't believe me and/or it was my fault because I could not remember the specifics of who I talked to or the date I mad the appointment. I have brought my dogs there before, but I will not do it again. read more
