Walked in on a week day after work to have my puppy groomed it was only around 6 pm and nobody was there. The front cashier said she left for the day to which I told him to update their online hours as I drove a half hour to their location. First time there had appointment at 9am for nails to be clipped. No personal greeting for me or my pet. Was told rudely that they haven't had time to open the doors at 9. We were the first customers of the day. Stated they couldn't cut her nails because I didn't have a "certificate" of her rabies shot, although the receipt from Pet vet at tractor supply clearly states, rabies certificate dated, signed, what yr, and expiration date. This location needs improving. The last three times I was in to purchase dog food, there were no carts. The cashier stated they only have a few carts! Dog food is heavy and carts are a necessity. Why wouldn't you purchase more carts for your customers? As it turned out, a cart wasn't needed all three times because they were out of my preferred dog food: Blue Wilderness, Rocky Mountain Recipe with Red Meat. read more

I've never came here to use any of their services, I come here normally when I have my two year old niece with me. She loves looking at the fish, ferrets, birds, etc. I think her favorite is testing out all the dog beds.. their all approved. Beside that, I used to come here to get the Blue Buffalo dog treats. Their the only dog treats that don't make my Shetland Sheltie sick. I recently stopped due to the high price, and found out that Tops now carries the Blue Buffalo dog treats for about $4 cheaper. That being said Tops only has two different flavors, so when I want to splurge and get the Pumpkin flavor, I do come back and by from Petco! My niece not only has me taking her here, but also about three other family members. All staff encounters have been friendly. My only thing is that the pictures on here from Petco advertising is a little misleading. The pictures they show seem to be for a bigger Petco location, and this location just doesn't seem to have all the features the pictures on their adverts show. read more

Just needed dogs nails clipped...been there many times in the past....made a call had an appointment when I arrived there were no dogs at all in the grooming area . I ran into a very rude employee who insisted she was a groomer and I wasn't able to behave a appointment just for nails ...she was not busy no one there just sitting there with another employee.i went to get a manager when I found one she came out and made a scene totally rude...she needed a class 101 in customer relations....then when I arrived home she had called the house and said my dog would no longer be welcomed in Petco...amen read more

Excellent on both fronts: Grooming and Training. For my wife's 2 Yorkies, one was a constant barker but with a little dog training, she has really settled down and we had never even heard of the really good dog calming sprays such as Adaptil. She no longer jumps up on people, she heels, she does not snap at the fingers of guests anymore as they try to pet her. She just seems far more happy and relaxed, all the way around. Both dogs are super energetic and excited after they've been groomed. They are ready for Summer with lighter coats and they are always so clean and smell so nice! Both groomers on were super courteous and Great when we walked in. Kris was our groomer he was 5 star fabulous with my 9 month old Carin Terrier. Cricket loved getting her mini pedicure done by Kris. He amazed me because she can be a handful at times but she was unbelievably good for him. She will be definitely going back. read more

This is a late post as this was 2 months ago, but saw all the negative reviews and had to share. I have a large breed dog (Great Pyrenees) who is naturally lazy and would rather lay than stand. She also had a minor ACL tear when she was a puppy that was advised NOT to do the surgery as it could tear again, and routinely sees her vets. I normally go to a private groomer for her but I was in a bind and she needed some help with her undercoat. I let the young groomer know of her knee issue, and upon picking her up, this groomer basically implied that I don't take care of my dog and that she will not allow us back unless her knee is taken care of bc she just wanted to lay down. How is it that I can go to a private grooming company and even PetSupplies Plus and don't get these negative reviews. On top of this, my dog refuses to go anywhere near the grooming entrance of this Petco anymore. Would not recommend for grooming. read more

My dog was hurt here. They tether the dogs by the neck during grooming. Something happened, although they claim they watched the video of my dog grooming and didnt see anything, it happened there that day. My dog was fine before he went. Upon returning home he had a terrible cough/choking that went on for 3 or 4 days, then I noticed he couldn't move his head to the right. I got him to the vet and the vet treated him with an anti inflammatory. Petco says the injury happening there is "debatable ". I recommend you take your dogs anywhere but here. read more

Sorry to complain but as nice as the store looks inside, many of the tanks are filled with dead fish. Literally I saw more than 5 in one tank. Just based on what I've seen at other petcos and petsmarts, they're also overcrowded tanks. I wish I took a picture. I was in the store for 10 minutes and there wasn't one person available to help me. I walked up and down looking for someone and the only person I could see was the young kid at the register and 4 people in line. I don't know who's running the show, but boy is it poorly managed. Have more people on shift (it was busy, so you're making enough to justify it) or tell your employees to stay out of the back when it's this busy. I was perturbed and felt bad for the register kid so I left. Never had these issues at the south towns petco if I needed something quick. I should have followed my guilt and shopped local. Recently attended a petco sponcered vaccination clinic and recieved some truly horrible service. The visiting vet from "vetco" advised us of a medical condition that our dog has, mind you he is currently being treated for said medical condition at home. As I was walking out of line from the vet service the visiting vet advised me that it may be advisable to put him up for adoption. The next day I called the store to leave a comment about said veterinarian's comment. Me being the calm person I am start out as nice as possible. The first words out of store managers mouth was a nasty remark about the visiting vet is not associated with petco. Hmmm ok I dont see how that is possible considering the payment was made at the regular store register not some cash only service or app on phone to accept credit cards. The manager continued to argue about the store not having any association w/ vetco. It quickly esculated from there. My advice to anyone is, do not visit that store. You will get disrespected in a manner unbefitting the chain's reputation. read more

Am in the area for a month and needed grooming done. Figured Petco is Petco right?? NOT! Sent my husband wit specific instructions on what I wanted done with my doodle.....the groomer did ONE out of 20 the way I wanted. At least he didn't cut her tail!! Blood would have occurred. Thankfully I will never again have to darken their door again!! Miserable job, did not follow my instructions at all.....uneven all over the place!! No tip!! I was in there a few weeks ago and was looking at their fish selection and I pointed out that a few of the saltwater fish had cauliflower disease and the girl in the fish department Carla was so rude and denied it up and down I used to work at the Aquarium at the bay in San Francisco for 8 years... I know what cauliflower disease looks like. Blackwinds right down the road might not carry saltwater fish but at least their employees have some fish knowledge plus the instant ocean salt mix is $8 cheaper at Blackwinds no thanks Petco I'll keep supporting the little guys! read more
