Years ago, I swore off any commercial grooming center because of all the deaths that were occurring. I'm a bit psycho for my dogs, (and I only rescue senior, medical dogs so it makes me even more loony). After moving to CT, and finding no groomers we felt comfortable with, we were lucky to find Amanda at Petco to do our 15 yr old girls nails. Shes a stubborn sweetheart who is entering her last stages of life, but is still stronger than us somehow. Amanda is the only one who can get her nails done. Tonight, she went above and beyond for her and we just wanted to say thank you. Blossom needed that spa day, even if it might be her last on this earth. We love you Amanda. read more

We brought two dogs in for their shots and annual prescription at the Lisbon CT location which required blood work. the vet created the correct script for one dog but not the other. Vetco is requiring me to bring the dog BACK in to have THIER vet fix the prescription. I shouldn't have to take time out of my day or pay for blood work for them to fix THEIR mistake. They have all the records and this is an easy fix. read more

DO NOT BOOK HERE! We went here to have our dog groomed. We told them to only trim her paws, cut nails, hygiene hair, and just trim a little on her eyes. When we got our puppy, they haircut her whole body unevenly, cut lots of hair in her face to the point her whole snout is bald. We were specific about only trimming specific areas. The craziest part is they did not even did the hygiene cut on her belly side and her paws were not trimmed and cleaned. They did not cut her nail properly, there are hanging nails and chipped nail not cut all the way. They cut all over her face are uneven too. To top it all, when they returned our dog to us all the hair they cut is still on her body. We had to shake off all cut hairs even after ton of them already went on our clothes (our dog barely shed at all). We only want a simple basic grooming and they destroyed how our puppy. We specifically did not want a haircut and it feels like they practiced on our puppy. They did everything except the things we asked and paid for. NEVER AGAIN. We'll make sure to spread awareness too as we were really distraught by our experience here. read more

I went there to get my puppy her shots and the vet was very rude from the very beginning of the visit, yelling at us to stand behind the blue line then when it came time to get my puppy her shots, i was told to hit my dog in the head to distract her and I said I'll hold her and calm her down and she insisted i hit my dog in the head to calm her. I will never go there again this lady was not good with animals at all !! read more

The staff are nice but. There seems to be a few issues on a corporate level. 1.) The prices are ridiculous. Lately I've been just looking up the things they have on the shelves on Amazon. And spend about a quarter as much doing so. And that's factoring in the membership discount. Which leads into the next point. 2.) The only way to get a reasonable price is to sign up for the membership but after doing so will take your email and send you three ads a day. It's not hard or very time-consuming to get the emails to stop. But it's still annoying that I have to take like 30 minutes of my day to make it possible to sort trough my email. Again I've had nothing but friendly and helpful experience with the staff. But the store has some systematic issues. read more

I went into this store to sign up for the Puppy Level 1 Class in September, The class started in October. My puppy still had kennel cough so I called before the class started to see if I can either reschedule for another class or get a refund. No one called me back after 2 tries. You would think they would be thankful I didn't haul my puppy in there for the classes anyways and gotten all the dogs sick. I then drove to the store a few days later where the manager apologized up and down and was very helpful ( so I thought!) and signed me up for a Puppy Level 2 Class the next month. I rearrange my work schedule to accommodate the Friday Training Classes. I show up at the time the manager SIGNED AND DATED on my sign-up form, only to be told the calendar has "changed" and that time slot was for a Adult Level 2 Class. Why was there no communication on this? Where was my money going? No one's time is valuable here obviously except for the employees. Two huge disappointments before the class even started. DONT sign up for training classes here unless you want to get screwed over. Also, shop on CHEWY, everything is over-priced here. read more

DO NOT EVER GET YOUR DOG GROOMED HERE! Absolute shit staff clearly do not give a shit about the animals, not to mention their awful grooming staff. I waited 3 WEEKS as I took their SOONEST GROOMING APPT, and as that wait was finally over, and I watch my dog sweating and panting on their table waiting to get groomed, they denied him because at that point his rabies shot was TWO DAYS EXPIRED!!!! Two damn days. Of course I had no idea. As I made the appt 3 WEEKS AGO. I stated that many times and all they could say is "that doesn't make sense" WHAT DOESNT MAKE SENSE ABOUT IT?! If you had other openings, he would've gotten groomed and gotten a different rabies shot by the next time, and it wouldn't have been 90 damn degrees outside with a long haired 20 POUND DOG!!! Such bullshit. After that and how the workers treated me, I will make sure everyone I know never goes there again. I also leave a $30 tip EVERYTIME my dog gets groomed, it's very clear these workers DO NOT care about the animals. I took my dog home crying for him. I am so sad at what they did. read more

I love this store and the people who work there. Their always very nice and helpful. Any question I ask they are always helpful with their answet. I have my 2 dogs groomed there every 6 weeks and I couldn't be more happy with my groomer Amanda. She's so good with my babies giving them the best care ever and they smell do so good when I pick them up. read more

My family was going here to get our dog groomed for years and she always came back smelling and looking great. She is getting older now though (about 16) and the last time we took her there they said we couldn't bring her back anymore because she was "too old" even though she was 12 the last time she went here. (she has hip problems and has a hard time standing for long periods of time). It's a shame because now we have to groom her ourselves- which looks not great. We are scared of being turned away by a different groomer for the same reasons but hopefully we find another who is more professional. read more

I bring both of my dogs to Amanda in the grooming salon here and she is amazing. She always handles them great and treats them like her own dogs when they are with her. Fish department is much better than other Petco locations. This is a reflection of, 1) local management, 2) Sarah, the aquatics specialist, and 3) the other fish department employees. I spoke for quite a while with Kaylee, who is apparently fairly new, but knowledgeable and a people person. If this location is a further drive for you than Waterford, take the extra few minutes and skip Waterford. read more

If I could leave less than a 1 star review I would. I have been purchasing fish here for years. Bought a couple of new fish which gave my entire tank a fungal infection, killing off hundreds of dollars of fish (all purchased from this petco except for two). When I came back to the petco the next day I was told that they could replace the 5 $1 fish that demolished my stock, but nothing else. Even though every fish I've purchased has been from this store for years. Will not be coming back or purchasing anything from this petco again. Seriously disappointed with this store. read more

My Vetco experience was horrible. They were disorganized and after an hour wait the dog behind us in line was now seeing the Vet! Service leaves much to be desired as store associate was rude when I mentioned the dog ahead of me. That same associate was chomping gum and blowing large bubbles as well. I have been in customer service for many years. This is i acceptable. If I could give zero stars I would. Very disappointing. read more
