I adopted an American Eskimo dog from the Humane Society a couple of months ago and they gave me this pamphlet with coupons to Petco to get some things for my new pet. I was stoked thinking, wow, that was super nice. A discount on things that I need. Aka: grooming, food, toys, treats, etc.
I take my new dog, Leo, in to get groomed. I have a 20% off coupon (which will save quite a bit considering it's 70$+ to get him washed, cut, brushed, nails trimmed, ears cleaned, etc.
I call to make an appointment and the lady on the phone isn't very professional or enthusiastic or helpful at all. I explained to her about my new adoption and the coupon I had and I told her that I wanted to get the service that the coupon was for : 7-point dog groom or wash service. She seems confused and asks me which services I need done. Apparently the "groom" is the bath and doesn't include nail trim, cut, brush, blow dry, nothing! You have to pay extra for everything with the base price of $50 for the "groom".
okay fine. It's only 3-4 times a year.
I explain to her that I have an American Eskimo dog and she acts like she has no idea what kind of dog that is and enters my dog as a bichon frise. ?@?!
She quotes me 60$ and then quiet.
I'm like...okay, so I guess I'll see on the appointment day.
NO confirmation of date and time, my name, pets name, nothing. Just awkward silence.
Whatever.
I bring my dog in a week later for the appointment, and get no greeting. There's a receptionist trimming a dog's nails and I just stand there with my dog waiting. Not knowing if she was a groomer or a receptionist. She finally finishes that dogs nails then comes over and asks me if I have an appointment. No greeting, no smile, no welcome, no aloha, no nothing!?
(Well, yes. I do have an appointment.)
What's your name?
(stated my name)
How do you spell it?
(spelled it)
I can't find anything. what's your dog's name?
(dog's name)
Oh okay. I guess they spelled your name wrong. What do you want done?
( I have a coupon and I want what the coupon is for, dog wash, cut, brush, 7 point check in, nails trimmed, ears cleaned, etc.)
blank stare
** at this point another lady comes out, looks like she just woke up***
what kind of cut do you want?
(explain the cut that I want) ***thought they would/should suggest something***
****This whole conversation was super weird, I didn't know what to tell them, I'm not a dog stylist*****
They say okay, grab his leash, have me sign a paper saying it's going to be somewhere between 70-90 $ for the service, depending on the ???????? (no explanation)
We'll call you when he's ready
(okay) ***sounds like they know what their doing, guess I'll just go then*****
I come back to pick up my dog.
He's cut short, has his freshly cut hair (the hair that's no longer attached to his body) all over him. It's actually flying off his body as this strange man hands me my dog.
I asked if they bathe him before or after the cut.
he says: before
I say: why is there hair all over him? Did they brush him? And why is there still 2 inch long hair inside his ears?
He says: Well, I shouldn't cut his hair, I'm not a groomer but I can blow dry him for you.
He takes him back and blow dries my dog. He's whining the whole time (my dog) Is my dog afraid of the blow dryer?
The man brings my dog back and my dog still has hair coming off of him. (he obviously was not brushed)
I was super upset because a) I just paid to have my dog groomed, not cut and washed. b) he was not brushed c) his hair in between his paws wasn't trimmed d) his hair by his ears was left long and untrimmed e) he had hair all over the place
I take the bill and my coupon to the front and they tell me they can only discount the 50$ the 20%.
Why?? The coupon specifically says 20% off all the services they were charging me for.
I had to walk and get the coupon approved by the guy who's "not a groomer", who hesitantly says "Okay, I guess we can discount it"
I pay and ask to speak with the manager.
A young looking man comes out in a regular shirt and says, "Hi I'm the manager, I was just getting out of work but what can I help you with"
***At this point I'm furious because everyone's making me feel like I'm inconveniencing them all while they gave me a Shi**y service and they're overcharging me.
The "manager" who was just getting off of work says: I'll take your name and number and pass it to my supervisor tomorrow. I really recommend trying our grooming manager , she's on medical leave. She's way better.
OH MY GOD I haven't experienced this much unprofessionalism and laziness in the workplace, EVER!
I come home to write this review and I see that there's reviews about people bringing their dogs here and getting INJURED?!? (cutting a dog's ear tip off and not telling the owner) WOW! I'm never ever ever bringing my dog back here. EVER! I spent over 400$ in new supplies for my dog here (this store is very overpriced) read more
