Generally good experiences with them.. With all past vets. except the last one. Also my dog after one nail trim there in 2020.. had fear of nail trims for 4 years after. They did not let you see what is going on at that location. She was trembling all night. We had no problems with other nail trims, but the girl that grabbed her was rushed. Whatever happened was not good at all. I recommend other pet pro groomers, maybe ones where everyone is relaxed, kind, loving. Not rushing a dog, ever! read more

Took my pup in at 12pm. She is 14weeks old and it's her first experience. I was told it would take 2-3 hours. I drove all the way across town to drop her off. Went back to pick her up at 3:30 and she hasn't been seen for a cut yet. One person tried to give her a cut for 5 min with no assistance and she was taken down. I was told she moves too much and they couldn't do it. I was charged $32 for a bath that I could've done for free and for it to take 3 hrs of time to complete. Please. Can you get real groomers in there instead of lazy ones. read more

I wish I could use 0 stars but one is being nice! I'm sooo hurt bc my baby didn't deserve this! PETCO on Parham Rd in Richmond Virginia really hurt me! Uggghhhhh I got cinnamon groomed there for the last three years and the groomers Shawna and Emmanuel were very rude to me today! Everyone always LOVED cinnamon. They write on all her paperwork "Cinnamon is so sweet and timid" This guy named Will used to groom her and he left! Will was amazing! I wish I could find him! And I still let Cinnamon go there bc she loved them and was familiar! Both Emmanuel and Shawna have groomed her before and remarked how sweet she was. Emmanuel had groomed her several times. Cinnamon has no health issues! Apparently they are short staffed but that's no excuse to be rude! But what happened was---- today I take her to get groomed on her scheduled appointment! They sent a text reminder yesterday AND this morning to remind me to be there on time today. I get there on time and they say we can't do her bc she is old and we haven't seen her since December. I say you have been doing her for three years and the only reason you haven't seen her since December is because you didn't have any available appointments! I said if that's your rule fine but my issue is I drove 30 minutes here and you should have called me in advance to tell me --- not wait until I get here!! Shawna (the groomer) says "I don't have time to call all my dog parents!" I said "that's not my problem! That's your job! I said you literally texted me yesterday and this morning to remind me!" Not only did I drive 30 minutes, I turned down an invite so I didn't have to cancel Cinnamon's appointment bc I know they have been staying booked! So basically they were busy and used cinnamon's age as an excuse to not groom her this morning! And she was rolling her eyes! Emmanuel was just supporting Shawna. I mainly was upset bc they didn't let me know in advance before I drove over there. Then refused my sweet doggie like she didn't even matter. Cinnamon did not deserve that at all! I'm always polite, tip well and they always comment and write how sweet Cinnamon's disposition is. Cinnamon really needed grooming and I didn't want her with anyone new. She was so sweet just sitting and waiting! She's my baby and for them to treat her that way just really upset me! She's 12 in human years. So basically they refused her bc of her age! She's healthy and they have been grooming her for three years! She's up to date on vaccinations too. But they were rude when I asked them why they didn't tell me in advance! A simple phone call could have alleviated all of this! I asked to speak to a manager and they send some guy name chad who isn't even the manager and he just stood there and gave me the number to corporate! This review is only about the Petco on Parham road in Henrico (Richmond Virginia-- Parham rd location) My cinnamon didn't deserve that and neither did I! Worst customer service ever!!!!! Khloe Love had the best experience going to see Emmanuel at this location. We were nervous with her being a young pup not even 4 months yet and now she's the only person we are going to! We wanted someone who could not only give her a great haircut that matched what we were looking for as well as someone who can tend to her energy without making her scared of groomers or aggressive. We came in to get her and she was on top of him like she gets with me! He has such a way with dogs and I'm referring all my friends to him. I took my little Yorkiepoo for a 11:30 grooming appointment. This is the Petco on Staplemill Rd, first I waited 10 to 15 minutes waiting at the desk before anyone came out. The girl said it would be about four hours which was ok since I had to do some things. I left my house at 3:30 and went in to see if my dog was done. The girl at the desk said she would call me when my dog was done. Well when I looked in the window at 4:00 they were just cutting her hair. Well I finally went in at 5:30 she was just finishing. I have been going there for two years and will never go there again. read more

So we show up yesterday for a groom, bath, cut all the bells and whistles and the gal, who has cut him about 3-4xs before tells me she cannot cut him today, ah ok? First off, he has no rabies vac on file. SHOCKER....we have to bring it EVERY TIME bc someone cannot seem to type it into the computer correctly so we have gotten used to dragging the paperwork up there with us KNOWING we will need it bc they DO NOT have it. Nothing new... then she tells us the meds that he is on is a no go for grooming. This is the first time we are hearing this..OK so first off, he has been on the same meds since he was little, this information "should" have been on file and was communicated before his FIRST groom many moon ago. He's an ME dog and he has to be on them. The vet is fully aware of what he takes and how much and knows we have him groomed and has not once said this is an issue. In fact the vet highly recommends he have his regular doses to keep him calm while grooming, they rec if for many anxious dogs so....last time I checked these groomers are not vets. So... extremely weird this is the same groomer, same place/location, same dog, I mean nothing has changed. We kept going back b/c the dog seemed to like this gal and she did a great job on him but yesterday was so frustrating. In fact the dog was a tad weird with her and DID NOT really want me to leave. Frankly this is the first time I have gotten that vibe from him. Unfortunately I had to b/c he was nasty, I had the apt and I threw out my back last week so I really needed the help (he's huge). The gal did give him a bath, a teeth brushing, nail clipping and expressed his glands, etc. but then they call and say he has fleas and they had to use a special shampoo which was more costly. I have yet to see flea one on any of our animals. All of our animals are on the top flea treatments/vet treatments and I am highly allergic to fleas so I would know if they had fleas. They tear me up. Not one cat (we have 3) or the dog has fleas but they insisted he did. By the time it was all said and done he was clean, which was nice but I could have done that at home (if I had not had a back issue and knew they were refusing to cut him, bc that is what I really wanted done a CUT with the bath. Still cost $85 bucks and I am pissed. Not going back again. This was unacceptable. Someone needs to be keeping up with the accounts better, noting meds and calling customers AHEAD OF their appts if there is an issue in the account with the dog. Not confronting us when we get there so the dog gets extra anxious while I am standing their being told they cannot cut him for these stupid reasons. AGAIN...SAME DOG as you cut the last however many times so what is the REAL issue? Personally, and this was just the vibe I got, I personally think the groomer had 0 interest in doing her job. I do not think she wanted to cut him. He is big but she had no issues the many times we have been before. Sorry Brit but I will not be taking my dog to someone who doesn't want to have him as a client, or me for that matter as a customer. I have a lot of clients with dogs and I will be sure to inform them where NOT to take their doodles, or any dog for that matter. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. I used the Vetco for my dog's vaccinations. My pup became nervous and rather than allowing me to give him a treat the vet tech took it upon himself to pin my dog to the ground. Now, my dog is more afraid and being constrained by a stranger to him. Not only did I repeatedly tell him to let my dog go the veterinarian was also telling him to let my dog go. I had made known at the start of the check up that he doesn't like being restrained but will do well with just simply distracting him with a treat. The vet tech then felt the need to "advise" me to give my dog an anti-anxiety to "avoid" the situation. Any person would react the same way if they were being pinned down by someone. I hate that my dog now has complete mistrust with vets because of the situation. Following my dog was super sweet to the vet but very nervous and uneasy around the vet tech. Truly disappointed in how he handled my dog, and I will no longer be using their services. read more

This would have been my 3 visit with Petco on N. Parham. I scheduled an appointment for September 11 at 11:00 a.m. with one of their staff. I arrived for my appointment and I was told that my dog was banned because my Yorkie Terrier nip because of being sensitive with paws. In making the appointment I was not told that. I was also told that because I gave him some medicine because he has anxiety in the car that he was not able to be seen on top of the nipping. The second visit in the grooming was not as nearly good as the first and the only reason why I used them the 3rd time is because they are close by. My lesson learned is you get what you pay for. I went in today with the sole purpose of getting my dog a new toy and maybe some treats but the goal in mind to make it a nice and swift transaction, I spend about 10-15 minutes looking around to finally go and check out, the girl at the register, didn't catch her name but she's black with a very distinct and recognizable face, is just looking down at her phone not paying attention I am there until I say hello how are you doing, which normally should be the cashiers greeting to the customer. So right off the bat I can already tell she doesn't want to be there, but I just try to move along; I knew she was going to ask for my number try and save some money but I don't have an account nor was my intention to make one then and there. She keeps on asking if I have a number with them and I inform her I don't, and then she tells me well do you want to make one and I say no it's fine, and she's just waiting there in awkward silence on the create an account screen and I'm like no it's ok I don't want to create a rewards account, to which she doesn't even proceed to say anything just looking at me with a face of annoyance, mind you I've had a smile and have only tried to be nice and cordial, she didn't even tell me my total mind you, and when she went to put the receipt in the bag she didn't even say thank you, or have a good day, nothing, she just looked at me dead in the face and then looked off with a face of disgust... I don't know what you guys are telling your employees but a first impression sticks with a lot of people, I couldn't have been more easy or polite, in no way shape or form did I say anything to be confusing. At every job I have worked at involving customers, Customers and customer interactions always come first. I'm not saying this is a common experience for everyone but there is no need to be very dry and rude when I am the one giving you my business. Please have an honest and understanding conversation with employees of how important it is to have a good understanding with customers, not only is it good for business but it is usually a very a swift and fast interaction, no reason I should've left feeling like I could've gone elsewhere. read more

I am very disappointed in this staff's treatment of Cinnamon! She was there today to get groomed, and your staff members, specifically Shawna and Emmanuel, treated her mom horribly and disregarded Cinnamon altogether. Despite Cinnamon's mom's being sent a reminder text of her appointment and her arriving 30 minutes early, after driving 30 minutes, Shawna and Emmanuel proceeded to deliver VERY poor customer service. They further stated that the reason they cannot take Cinnamon is that she is old! What a HORRIBLE thing to say to her parent. Cinnamon's mom has spent years patronizing your business and trusting Cinnamon to your care for you to completely disregard and dismiss a loyal client and her baby. If you plan on keeping loyal patronage, you need to contact Ms. Kelly Johnson and rectify this immediately! read more

I brought my dog here for grooming and vaccines, my GS came out from grooming with a limp from rough handling of his back leg. I also had him vaccinated for boarding ( vetco was aware of this) I asked for the DDB and flu. ( required by boarder) they skipped the Bordetella shot.. and then the Border refused to take him! Long story short $80 for incomplete shots $80 for grooming, rental car and canceled flights. Vetco you suck! I will never use location again! read more

If I could put negative stars I would. Took my German Shepard there today to have his claws trimmed. The groomer took him back and I went to pay. Walked back over to see my dog in obvious distress. He jerked his paw away from the groomer who grabbed his paw jerked it very hard. This caused my dog to try to retreat and in doing so he fell off the table. There was a restraining collar on him which is attached to the table above the dogs head. He was literally hanging by his neck for several seconds before the idiot groomer could get him back up. I was livid. I walked back in to the grooming area to be told I wasnt allowed there. I told them to get my dog off the table and went to the front desk with my dog to speak to the manager. He refunded the cost and offered me a 20% off for grooming which I declined. Why in the hell would I EVER want those people touching my dog again? If you value your pet do not take them here. This guy could have killed my dog had things gone any more wrong. They need to fire this guy. I'll be contacting their corporate office this week as well. read more

Today I visited Petco to cash in on the vital care benefits I purchased the week prior and learned a few things. First the employees at this location either do not have a firm grasp of vital are(like the employee who told me right before the appointment it would take off 25 dollars for my services which were not vaccination) or do not mention important details, such as the store clerk who directed me to make an appointment through the Petco app with their vetco in order to redeem my benefits, only to find out that the vet WITHIN the Petco does not qualify for benefits. I'm my recent phone call with the employees I was told the only locations offering the *free exams at participating locations* are in San Diego. In the end all my 30 dollars got me was a 6 lb bag of food and 10 dollars off 150. I will be cancelling my subscription and not visit this Petco. read more

We took our dog there for grooming & deshedding for the first time. They called me and said they couldn't do a deshedding because they found a tick on my dog (even though she is on tick & flea medication) so they bathed her in flea and tick medication. Normally this would have been ok. However, when I came to pick her up another groomer came out and tried to hand me the wrong dog without even checking who I was. Then the groomer for my dog brought her out. My dog was wet and hadn't been brushed. The groomer lied and said she had been brushed (but I know what my dog looks like after she has been brushed). After paying $63, I went home and brushed her myself. The next morning my dog did not want to be touched on her belly or her back legs which makes me even more concerned about how she was treated when I wasn't there to observe. I would not trust your pets to this groomer. read more

Natural Balance has discontinued the food my dog has been eating for the last year and a half. I bought a new bag of the "new formulated" food and my dog has not done well with it--we're both up all night long with his panting and smacking his lips. Spoke to the manager of the store this morning and I have to put all of the food back into the original bag or take the plastic food container back to the store. Told him this was not a possibility but that they could come pick it up since I'm only a mile from the store. After much haggling he said I could bring the original bag without all the food in it and receipt back to the store. Won't be going back there again--will go to PetSmart instead even though it's not as convenient. read more

Let me start by saying Ashley at Parham petco is honestly the best!!! I took my 10 month old Golden doodle to her for his first groom and she delivered 100% I think that I was honestly more nervous than he was. This is my first long haired dog and I was hesitant about getting his hair cut. Ashley was very thorough during the check-in which reassured me that she knew exactly what she was doing and that Rooney would also be in great hands. I came back early just to check on him and I was so pleased to see Rooney calm, comfortable and even giving out kisses! When I got him back he looked so handsome, I felt like I got a whole new dog. I cannot express how happy I am with the way he turned out and how sweet, patient and informative the groomer was! read more

Vetco, not the place to take your pets for vaccines. We were talked into buying a package for shots when we only needed the Bordatella shot. We can back 2 months later to start some vaccines. The young lady that checked us in was well let's just say "bless her heart" She pulled our account up and said we would owe for the shots again. After going round and round they were honored. The vets that are there seem to be bottom basement as well. I don't expect you to kiss my butt but damn a little eye contact would be helpful. Because my dog had shots at her vet they didn't ask for records (which I could have provided) they only made her shots valid for a year. So, I had to contact the 800 number and send my records in which they changed them to the 3-year vaccines. We went back the following week with the same front girl who swore she would make a note and remember me after we round and round about the package and payment. Do you know what happened again? How are you going to pay for this shot? Please, girl, I am not paying for this shot. So, maybe we got a discount by going to Vetco but we also missed the Vet that is engaging and informed. A front staff that can put a sentence together and not look like a deer in headlight. Our local vet actually changed the second set of shots to the 3-year shot because even after attaching her prior shots and fixing the rabies shot they still only gave her one year on her shot. I can assure you this is one set of shots at Vetco and no more. I pray she got the right shots as no one talks to you in the glass room. God forbid if they flash you a smile or engage in casual conversation. I am guessing you have to pay extra for that! Remember Vetco "not the place to go" read more
