This Petco location is easily the best in the area. The store is always extremely clean, the staff is helpful and kind, and they have stocked shelves to cover my needs. I also bring both of my dogs to this location for grooming. The grooming team is patient and thorough with my dogs. I highly recommend this the Petco Guilford store. read more

I will never go back to petco. I while ago my dad had a dog that he brought to get washed and use the blow dryer. So the put the dog under the blow dryer and leave him there and the dog over heats and dies . Now yesterday I went to petco to get my Himalayan cat shaved and take a barh . So we go to petco and the person checking use in is kinda crusty she asked for are proof of rabies vaccination this was on 1/19/24 and the form expired 1/18/24 and she did not even think about taking him bc he was a cat ( also my cat NEVER goes outside) but still she did not take him. So that is why I will not use petco again. Hope this helps. read more

A very big and clean store. Since getting a new hamster, I always never went to petco, but now I basically live in this one. It's nice and opened about 2 years ago. The town of guilford is the next town over from me and I travel back and forth to work and always pass this petco, so it's hard not to go in once a week. The employees are very helpful, and will do whatever they can to get you the item that you need, which includes calling other stores if they don't have the item in stock. This shows that they go out of their way for their customers which is amazing customer service. They always have a wide variety of different items and my favorite is buying "whimzee" chew toys for my little girl hamster. She loves them, so I get joy buying them for her. This store is very neat and also includes dog grooming and training. The facility itself is beautiful and the plaza is a nice variety of stores. I recommend this petco to anyone!! read more

I can not believe how poorly my dog was groomed- all they did was she's everything off and it's totally uneven.

I am normally reluctant to go to corporate or chain type places for my pups nail trims. He is a dachshund and they grow super fast. He also has a weird nail bc a groomer cut him badly a few years ago to the point where he needed surgery. . ( super traumatic for me and him and makes me super cautious of groomers) . but Kimberly was amazing and he adored her! She is now my go to person and ive had a really positive experience here! He can be nervous with new groomers, but her kindness and experience were evident! read more

I had a horrible experience taking my dog to this place for their vaccinations. The person in charge was Magdy yousef. He got upset because I refuse to buy any of his products from him and took his anger against my dog, hurting him while trying to force the medicine on him while wearing a very tight muzzle. I complained to Petco manager, and she just said that he doesn't work for Petco. Well he is performing services under their roof!!! I'm very surprised and disappointed that a company that claims to have care and respect for animals allowed someone so unprofessional and rude to work under their umbrella. To all animal lovers in the area I really do not recommend this vet for ur pets. read more

We had our Border Collie (a more challenging breed to groom, in my opinion). He has never been so clean. He is completely de-shedded and all his problem areas of matting. The staff was friendly. I felt very comfortable leaving my sweet dog in her care. They were on time. The availability is great for my busy schedule, especially since I can book online.I cannot say enough good things, so I'll post a picture. read more

Worst haircut ever. I feel so bad for taking my dog there. Would never recommend. Haircut was very uneven and not worth the price

I was not happy with my dogs grooming. I asked for her to be trimmed and she was shaved every where. My dog looked butchered. She had the most beautiful hair and now she looks like a rat almost. My poor puppy had her pink skin showing. I'm gonna have to wait a while for her hair to fully grow back and to take her back there. read more

This review is on Petco's pet grooming service. If you own a pup that you love, don't take your pet to their grooming service. I took my 1.5 year old papillon for a hair cut and nail trim. I had called the day prior to make sure they were comfortable with working with papillons, since they have specific requirements on cutting their hair. I didn't really fear this, since my pup had had a trim with them before (with Jon) and he was great. Just to be sure, I brought in a photo of what I needed and told the woman to just trim her hair around the edges of her face leaving her fringe, and just a trim on her "pants" (back legs). When I came back, her hair had been chopped to her ears, her tail had been cut (why would you cut her tail?!) and her pants were unevenly cut. In fact, hair on her whole body had been cut down, and cut unevenly. Even worse, she had cut her whiskers. Cutting the whiskers disorients dogs, to the point where they can't sense properly. My pup is now barking at nothing, and growling which she didn't do before. What's worse is when I spoke to the woman who cut her hair and explained the issue, she got very nasty and scolded me instead! - telling me what brush I should use to comb her. This is the poorest behavior I've seen in awhile of anyone working at a store with animals. I did have a manager at the store apologize, and give me a $25 gift card - but frankly, that does not make up for this. It takes 6 months to a year for a pappy's hair to grow back. Also I didn't ask for any of this, and Management - Please don't hire unqualified groomers, you really need to check credentials. And groomers - if you're unsure of working with a breed, say something to the owner rather than get scissor happy. read more

Grooming has been going to voicemail every time we call. We left a message on Monday (It's now Saturday) and still haven't heard back. I called the location and was able to talk to customer service - who told me they would get some from grooming on the phone. I was on hold so long - it started ringing again. No one answered. I tried messaging PetCo online - the response was that someone would call me back from the store - that hasn't happened either. Absolutely awful customer service experience! read more

Just wow. My boyfriend and I walk in at 5:30p.m. and we are walking around with a bag of dog food in our hands and we wanted to buy a dog jacket. But we were kicked out because they said they were closed. I told them why you guys close at 6 p.m., the guy working tonight said they were closing early due to weather. But let me mention, the sky's are clear and there is no reason to kick out a paying customer. Very unprofessional, makes me not want to go back there. read more

Rude groomers. Plenty of locations I'd avoid this one. Customer service is absolutely lacking.

Rachel is a dog whisperer. She takes my shy, timid 45lb rescue who is fearful and convinces her to go willingly into the grooming area. Then she grooms her coat and trims the full tail into a lush fringe-this on the girl who hates having her tail brushed. I don't know how she does it! Then she handles the 85 lb golden who went swimming and cheerfully deals with his pawing her in delight and whipping her with the incessantly wagging tail as she works on him. They come out shades lighter with clean, silken coats, a wonderful trim, clean ears and big smiles. I don't want to tell you because I'm afraid I'll never get booked with with her again, but she is awesome! read more

Despite the experience of another person, we love the groomers at Petco in Guilford. Our dog is very skittish with people and yet once she gets there you can see her wagging her tail and eager to interact with them. I see them trying very hard to understand the personality of each dog and go with it. They have taken time to truly understand how our Portuguese water dog should be groomed. read more
