The grooming of my dog was excellent and the grooming staff very pleasant. When I booked I thought the $55 charge expensive, but knowing that prices all over had increased during inflation, I wasn't that surprised. I was appalled at checkout to see they had added a ridiculous $6.00 for "materials" Really?? Isn't it safe to assume that materials would be factored into the grooming charge? We hadn't had good luck with groomers since we started wintering in Green Valley, and we tried a lot. I was very pleasantly surprised today when Niki took care of our little guy. To be fair, other times we had our dogs both bathed and trimmed and today we just went with the bath (and nails). Trimming is where issues have often occurred. But the attitude of staff and cleanliness of the salon have often been subpar elsewhere, and that was far from the case today. I give Niki two thumbs up for her kindness and understanding. We will definitely be back, and if all our experiences are as good as today, we have finally found our new groomer. read more

We recently went to Petco shopping for dog food. We needed to know which products were the best for our four year old chocolate lab. The people working there were very helpful, and we were able to feel confident that we were making the best choice for our dog. After reading articles about the importance of certain nutrients that dogs require daily we felt the food she was eating wasn't the best choice. We definitely recommend Petco. read more

Do not get your dog groomed here, that staff are very unfriendly and very rude. My dog doesn't like to be out in a kennel so we booked a early appointment. We got there and they worker said he needs to be kenneled. We said we booked this apps for that. Then she did the friendly smell and she pulled my dog from behind very aggressive and my dog showed teeth that's when she forced us out. My one year old Shih Tzu is a VERY DIFFICULT dog to groom. I struggle with showers and cutting his hair (which we've done a horrible job since he keeps trying to run away the entire time). He's been returned from groomers because he doesn't let them do anything so that's why we resorted to cutting his hair on our own. Finally I just decided to take him in after months and months of debating and spending hours on Yelp to see who has the best reviews. I was afraid that he might be treated bad because he's uncooperative. APRIL was amazing. She was super sweet and she gave me the run down of the grooming experience when I picked him up. He's pretty much shaved which is what I wanted since he was matted. Once his hair starts to grow then I'll continue with a set grooming schedule with April. read more

We've had a lot of positive experiences at this particular Petco. We've taken our puppy in for training classes. Bree is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Works so well with our dog. Staff is friendly and helpful. Store is clean. My only negative was a recent purchase of a bark collar. When I brought it home it had clearly been used. Yikes. The collar had been cut and burned to fit someone else's dogs neck. Yuck. Anyway I did make the return easily. Just bugged they restocked used merchandise. We don't live around here. We mistakenly came here because we heard Petco in green valley was having a grand opening. Turns out it was the PetSmart opening right across the street. We still browsed through here before heading across the street. The tanks were right up front by the door, so I was hoping they were having their dollar a gallon sale, but they weren't. Petco scored when they found Rebekka! I'm a fan of the Petco girls and their positive attitude. My schedule is INSANE to put it lightly. I'm never able to make solid commitments to do anything recreational during the day because I never know when I will be asleep or awake. If it wasn't for Rebekka in the grooming department, being so willing to work with my spontaneous schedule, I have no idea how I would ever be able to make an appointment! It can be stressful at times, especially when my poor baby Stryker needs to see his girlfriends at Petco. Stryker is my beautiful champion line Blue-nose Pitbull. At about 110 lbs, he's a very large muscular handsome boy, a ladies man if you will. When he's had quality time with the girls he's at his happiest. It's really funny because he literally smiles from ear to ear (see pics). Stryker is shy by nature and very protective of children and women especially when it's just him and them. He's also the most gentle and sweet dog you'll ever meet. He wouldn't hurt a fly if it kept landing on his nose. Thanks again for everything you do, Rebekka! And thanks to the girls in the grooming department. Stryker could not be happier than the time he spends with you all and that's worth every moment and every penny spent. It has taken me a long time to write this review because I was so angry and disappointed in the quality of care but I also tried to give them the benefit of the doubt that this was an isolated incident. We took our Yorkie to Petco for grooming a month or so ago. She needed a basic wash and trim. This was her first time there. Our normal groomer was busy and we decided to try something new. We immediacy noticed something was wrong when we picked her up. She was timid and Sad looking. Nothing like her spunky personality. The groomer told us she had snipped at her when she was trimming her paws and made it seem as if she misbehaved. Again, not normal behavior. She always gets good report card from her usual groomer. We get home and this behavior persists. Sad, gloomy, won't eat. Something is wrong. I pick her up and realize she has dried blood on her tummy. She had scratched along the bottom of her abdomen. Upon further investigation we found dried blood on her two back paws and her rear had been shaved down to skin. She itched for days. Scooting her rear end on the ground for comfort. In addition the haircut was subpar. Other than the bows in her hair she barely looked like she had just been at the groomers. Upon talking to others at the dog park I learned this is not an isolated incident. I kept hearing similar stories. So I decided to write this review so that hopefully management will see this and rectify whatever the problem is. No dog should come home with dried blood from cuts feeling sad and scared from the groomers! I would stay away from the grooming department at Petco until they rectify what seems to be an ongoing problem. read more

I just had surgery and the two associates I encountered happily helped me put a 50-pound bag of dog food in my cart and later in the trunk of my car. I also purchased three turbo snails for my saltwater tank -- no saltwater creatures at Pet smart (the competitor about to open across the way.) We brought our two male, four-year-old Maltese in to Petco in green valley Arizona today to be groomed and bathed. We received a phone call after we dropped them off from the groomer indicating that the one dog had several mattes and would they be able to cut the mats out. I expressed my concern that Maltese response to having their hair shaved is not good as they retreat. I also asked that they keep the hair around the faces. When we picked the dogs up a few hours later, both dogs had been mostly shaved down to their bare skin. Their heads were completely shaved up to the edges of their ears to the point where we don't even recognize our two dogs. They are now acting lethargic and non-responsive. We placed pajamas on the dogs to keep them warm and hide their bare skin. We honestly can't believe anyone would do this to a sweet, small dog. We are so disappointed in the outcome. These dogs had a few mattes. We bath and brush our dogs regularly. There is no excuse for completely shaving them. read more

A little pricey on the food over competitors. They also need to hire a receptionist for grooming. The groomers answer the phones and if the phone rings when they are cutting, they have to put the pet into a cage to answer the phone. Very inefficient way to run. They could produce so many more groomings just by hiring a receptionist to take the phone calls. read more

We took our two dogs to Petco today for their monthly vaccination clinic. We got there at 12:30 when it was supposed to begin, but the vet team hadn't arrived yet. Apparently everyone who was supposed to staff the traveling clinic called out so they sent a team from San Diego. The team was an hour and a half late. There were about 6 or 7 dogs ahead of us in line, so by the time we left we had been there for 3 hours. Petco did give everyone in line 50% off the vaccinations, a bag of dog treats, and distributed bottled water and packages of crackers for the pet owners. It was a nice consolation, but I wonder if canceling the clinic may have been better. Of course, we could have left, but they kept saying the vets were on their way. Advice to anyone using this service: call ahead to confirm the vet is on time and see how long the line is. read more

One big thing for me is if I feel comfortable bringing my dog into a clean store. This store is spotless inside and out. Very impressed with it. The prices of items are a little more here, but if I know I can bring my dog into a place without having to worry about it sniffing at another dogs urine puddle or getting kennel cough from a dog that just hacked up a lung onto the floor, then I'll pay the extra few dollars. The selection in this store is very large, and they have a lot of holistic dog food brands that competitors don't offer. Definitely recommend it here. The grooming department has been doing a fabulous job for us for several years now. Our big standard poodle, Jack, loves Jackie (the manager) and never minds us leaving him there. She takes a personal interest in the dogs and I couldn't ask for better "styling" for my big guy. Same for our little poodle, Mac. And their grooming prices are reasonable.. The Feliway 48ml refill retails almost everywhere for $19.99, and is $29.99 at this store. When I pointed out that the Petco Website showed it for $19.99 - they said that the online price was always lower than the store. But by 50% ? Meanwhile - I bought it online elsewhere for $17.99 with free shipping. $17.99 vs $29.99 - duh. While they do have a price match policy - I'd just rather drive the 20 miles to PetSmart for ALL of my pet needs. read more

Kelly, the Groomer was so patient and caring to my 20 year old I can't thank her enough. She has worked for a Vet in the past, she knows about older and ill animals.
