Brooke gave Mack the Malamute a great grooming session! He was shedding like crazy, and she got out all that hair. (And, that is no easy feat with a shedding malamute!) I have had great experiences with the long-term employees. They are knowledgeable and helpful. The store seems well-managed. Petco as a corporation isn't great though. In Grants Pass, which is a small town, there is no other competition for many types of products. Petco's prices are on the high side. They don't hire enough people, so some departments are understaffed, e.g. aquatics. Employees should receive better pay. read more

Had my dog groomed here today. Specifically asked to have them cut the hair around her mouth. They didn't do it. Asked for them to trim her face, they didn't do it. Asked how long it would take, 1 1/2 hrs, 2 1/2 hrs later I call to see if she was done and she said yes. They did not bother to call me after she was done. The groomer left without notifying me she was done. I asked if there was anyone there that could trim her face and they said no. Then as I was driving home they called, I was thinking it was a manager calling to apologize or something. It was an employee telling me I left my wallet with Driver's license and such in it. I said I did not because I have it with me, it was in my hand as I was talking with her. Now if she knew there was a driver's license in it obviously it had a name in it and she could tell that it was not me. Then she said that if I want to bring my dog back tomorrow morning they would fix her face. Nope to late! They blew it! With the price of gas it is not worth it to me. I took my dog home and cleaned her face up, though not perfect better than what they didn't do. read more

We were bullied. Hannah and the manager are the worst. These people are terrible! My little sister saved all of her money for a couple of glow fish and was so excited to spend her own hard earned money for the first time. Immediately when we started asking Hannah questions about the fish and tank she told my little sister she wasn't ready for the "responsibility of owning fish" and that because we didn't buy the tank a WEEK in advance all the fish would be dead within 24 hours. She was so rude and followed us to the cash register the manager saw what Hannah was doing and instead of helping us she joined in and told my little sister she was "killing these poor fish" Meanwhile there are dead and sick pets all over the store. It's disgusting. There's plenty of "poor animals" to focus on rather than bullying a little girl and her fish. Here we are a couple days later and all of the fish are perfectly happy and loved. This petco is the worst one I've ever been in. The store supervisor likes to accuse people of abusing there animal. As soon as they saw how large my German Shepherd was they started whispering, and them accused use of hitting our dog. They are lazy and didn't want to bath my dog. I told them he was very big and had no problem when I made the appointment. It was when they saw him and my dog is a gentle giant. If I could put no stars that's what it would be. read more

Do not go here ever, bad management and sick fish. I refuse to go in the store after several bad experiences. So I wanted to get some fish for my aquarium, I wanted a peaceful community tank so I waited outside and sent my other half in. He explained to him what I wanted. He recommended that we get tetras. We got four black tetras and 4 small ones of the tetra family recommended by the salesperson. The black tetras were constantly fighting then the small tetras began disappearing , I read up on the black tetras unless they have at least 5 they are aggressive with each other and other fish. So I decided to get a couple more black tetras to mellow them out, so we called to let them know what happened and find out what kind of fish we bought 5 days prior. The manager said we need a receipt, they told me they would email the receipt to me when I bought them. They never did the last few purchases the same. So the manager told us we would get a 6 dollar store credit she found my reciept no listing of what kind of fish they were. She told us to come down I was not looking for a refund we had no fish to bring back anyways and told her they were consumed by the other fish. She said come down and ask for her by name. We drove there, I don't live nearby also I won't go in but was right outside. He asked for her and told the person who was working. The manager was at the cash register and told him she never said that, a blatant lie! So he gets in line to talk to her and then she told him you have no receipt or fish which she knew already. He told her the person who sold the fish picked them out. That is also our problem we should know what we were buying. So he wanted to buy two more black tetras and was told the freshwater fish were under observation. So why did she ask us to come to the store at all. That really pissed me off I called the website number and lodged a complaint. I got a call yesterday and I was outside so my partner told him to call at 10 it is 11:30 now. The groomer at the Grants Pass store is very rude and sarcastic. We booked well in advance and brought the vaccine list from our vet. She still refused to groom our 18 yr old Pom. Older dogs need grooming too. She made it a point that she personally will not groom our dog due to his age. Maybe, she is not skilled enough to handle it. She needs to learn some customer service and how to treat customers. I will never go to that store again and tell all my dog friends to avoid this business. read more

I will say this, I'm stunned how this grooming department is run. Not only am I new to the area, but my dogs have been Petco clients for 10+ years and this location is extremely unorganized. Not once, not twice, not three times, but I was bumped and rescheduled four times, because the groomer was a "no-show". Terrible customer service. I come here all the time to buy my dog food and I always get the biggest bag. Usually there's a coupon hanging on the shelf or behind the front counter. Anyways I went in today as usual to get my dog food and I grabbed a coupon and headed to the front of the store. I got checked out and she told me your total is $49.95. Made no sense because the coupon was $10 off the purchase of a big bag of food and the bag of food was originally $49... I asked her about it and she lied and told me she scanned the coupon. moral of the story she didn't enter it into the computer and I had to pay full price for my dogs food I usually pay $30 for every time I go there. read more

This is a very clean petco! They are right there to greet you upon arriving and are more than happy to help you with any of your questions! They have helped me with my ball pythons, my beardie, my kitten and my rotty! They are all very kind. I had gotten a chain collar for a foster rottweiler I was watching and the were able to let return it because he had found a home! This location is awesome!!! I have a VERY picky, diabetic kitty and I have to return things often. They make it so easy and I never feel bad for bringing back half eaten food. They just smile and say no problem! And when I bring my kitty in they are so sweet to him, he loves it there! I think he'd rather be there thanks home sometimes. The prices are a little high but the rewards and the service more than make up for that! I don't like having to go elsewhere. I do wish they carried a few more of the ultra premium brands like Tiki Cat and Weruva. They are the best for diabetics. read more

This Petco is quite clean and easy to navigate. They have a good selection of products, and my favorite part is that I can bring my dog shopping with me! The prices are pretty good, sometimes certain things are a little over priced, but for the most part I would say that the pricing is quite fair. The employees greet you when you walk in and are very helpful and friendly. read more

Have been to this store many times for dogfood they always offer to walk to bags to your vehicle and the lines arent rediculous. After going a few times for collars and chains for a new rescue pit we had adopted the gal at the front kept mentioning she did dog training classes and that it would help me keep my dog from jumping or digging under my fence. I basically dismissed her because i assumed she was just trying to upsale me and couldnt imagine teaching a dog to sit would cure her from jumping my fence. One day i had a snowball in my hand with a glove on and the dog" Mama" bit my finger and wouldnt release as she didnt understand and thought it was a game. I finally decided that enough was enough and decided if we couldnt get her trained she would have to go (we have a 4 and 5 y/o to worry about ) we signed up for training with Tara and now both our pups can sit stay and the big one 'leave it' its basically a universal comand that makes them stop what they are doing and leave the object alone. She taught us how scared our dog was and that because we were unable to asert we were the alfas she didnt trust us or respect us. I am happy to say that Mama hasnt jumped my fence in a month and is just the most well behaved dog. I am glad she was so persistent because without her teaching us to be good dog owners Mama would have been back to a shelter. I recomend the store but more so the dog training. read more
