If you're looking for a new dog groomer- Tasha is your girl!! She is INCREDIBLE with our bernedoodle. Usually we do a puppy cut but last time we told her to do whatever she wanted. Like Mohawk, shakedown, etc and we picked up our dog with the CUTEST lamb cut! I didn't even know what that was and I love it. It's her style from here on out! Tasha is patient, kind and so talented. I would give a ZERO for dog grooming!!! You will get treated by the rudest woman I have ever met. She is unfriendly, overworked and doesn't seem to like her job. Regarding the All-Important-Manager: I called her an unkind name and I stand by it. I called and repeatedly asked her the same question - if she could look something up for me regarding a past purchase. Simple yes or no question really. I grew frustrated with getting the run around, and asked "can you just look it up for me?" the condescending tone she took in response was intense and nasty (which is why she then received an insult). Then she proceeded to hang up on me THREE times in a row and told me to "never call again". YIKES. On what planet is this how a professional manager acts? As a manager, or any retail worker for that matter, even if you are frustrated with a customer you have no grounds to speak to them that way. It is part of your job to mitigate frustrations, not amplify them. I wonder what it's like to sit so high on the Golden Petco Pedestal, dumpiest Petco of all in the surrounding area. I called corporate (and don't worry, I let them know what I called her, as she requested I do). Unacceptable. After many years of shopping at Petco - literally never again. And now I'm stuck with a broken piece of equipment that Petco will not accept a return on because it exceeds their 60 day policy. Petco doesn't have a clue as to what they're doing when it comes to animal husbandry, their customer service is down the toilet, and I'm done spending my money there. I have had decent luck with non living things I've bought there. However most of the plants I've bought have been awful. MY CAT GRASS GREW MUSHROOMS! I thought it was something I did wrong even though I followed the directions, so I called my mother because she bought the same cat grass. Well she looked at hers and it guess what. Mushrooms. PLEASE PLEASE READ SO YOU CAN AVOID THIS HORRIBLE SITUATION!! THIS PETCO SELLS SICK ANIMALS! This is going to be a heart wrenching one. This is Fred. Fred is, I'm sorry was, my Siamese DHS mix that I adopted from this very petco. . After brining him home, we started noticing something was very wrong. He was coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, Lethargic and so much more. We took him to the vet, with his petco paperwork to get him checked out. (And to get his rabies) Just to be told, he had a life long possibly fatal and highly contagious virus. That petco, and the rescue who petco got him from, were well aware of but they carelessly neglected to inform me on his condition whatsoever. (Resulting in me bringing the virus home to my other kitten.) He was in such bad condition, that the vet refused to give him his Rabies until his condition improved because it would have been too hard on his little body and immune system. They gave us a medication to manage his symptoms, but told us there was nothing else they could do, as there is no cure. Fast forward to about a week ago. Fred was displaying symptoms, again. So we gave his medication to manage his symptoms. And kept an eye on him. But he just got worse. And worse. So I rushed him to the vet. Only to come home without him. Now, here I am, devastated, writing this 2hrs after putting my fur baby to rest. He went into heart, and organ failure, with internal bleeding. My daughter is heartbroken, I feel beyond guilty that I couldn't save him. I'm livid. PETCO KNOWINGLY SOLD ME A SICK CAT THAT MY FAMILY AND I LOVED JUST FOR US TO HAVE TO EUTHANIZE HIM MONTHS LATER. And now I can't stop thinking about the fate of my other kitten. read more

No stars deserved. An employee, female, tall/big woman with odd hair in the store today was arrogant, rude, presumptive and flat out working in the wrong setting. This is a store that refused to care for animals held there in cages, and refused to get vet care for sick animals held in those cages. The animals suffered and died. They were investigated by regulatory authorities. There are other options. Don't subject yourself to this awful place. read more

The staff here is untrained, uncaring, rude, and basically worthless. I have yet to get any usable help in this store, when I need it. Example: I went online yesterday to see if this store had Thistle Seed in stock. I needed some for my Goldfinch feeders, and didn't want to make the ~30 minute drive (each way) if they didn't have any in stock. The website said that this particular store had two small packages for $7.99, and three larger packages for $14.99. So, I headed to the store. I got there, looked everywhere in the bird food section, but couldn't find the Thistle Seed. Several employees walked right past me without saying a word, so I was forced to grab one and ask for some help. She said she couldn't help me, 'cause she had to go up front to work the register, but that she'd send someone back to help me. After waiting almost ten minutes, some "dude" showed up and asked me what I was looking for. I told him "Thistle Seed", and that their website said they had five packages on hand. He replied, "I don't even know what that is, but if it ain't on that shelf right there, we ain't got any", and he walked off. Gee...thanks for your help !!! On a separate trip to the same store, I bought a container with 500 giant mealworms. I got to the register to check out, and set the container down on it's side, so that the bar code was pointing at the scanner (to make it easier for the cashier). She looked at it, picked it up, and SLAMMED it down on the counter, right-side up. She started the transaction, asked me my phone number (for reward point), then picked up the container, turned it BACK on it's side, and scanned the bar code (WTH?!?). She then asked me if I had checked to see that all of the worms were alive. I replied that the date on the container said that they had been delivered earlier that day, so I assumed they were good. She said, "You still need to count them!". I informed her that there were FIVE HUNDRED worms in that container, and that they were packed in sawdust. Did she REALLY want me to dump all of that sawdust out, separate out all of the worms, and then do a "headcount" of 500 worms?!? Don't know what was going on in her head, but she wasn't being the least bit polite, realistic, helpful, or rational. She just rolled her eyes, as if I was being a jerk. I just don't get some people ! From now on, it's Petsmart for ALL of my animal-related needs. At least THEIR employees seem to care ! read more

Customers please beware: If you go to Dumb Friends League for your dogs rabies vaccination, the staff will not accept the verification receipt. My dogs due date was 4/20/24 (which they have verification for in their computer system for past grooming appointments) had shots done 6/15/24 at dumb friends league. I asked for an extra email showing she had her rabies shot concerned that there would be problems with the staff prior. Ironically, the employees claimed both recipients as invalid because I could have written on it. That they also went above and beyond to verify rabies shot by calling the clinic. And how they look at hundreds of vaccinations everyday. Must be a very busy place if that was even true.. Dumb Friends league does see hundreds a dogs a day. No comparison. When I tried to explain myself I was constantly interrupted so I asked kindly asked to speak my concerns without interruption. Suddenly the groomer, who barely said a word, wasn't feeling comfortable grooming my dog and wanted to reschedule. The place was completely dead and these two employees would rather be passive aggressive towards their customers than do their job. Hopefully management can review cameras. I left in tears. I had all the proper documentation and they wanted to act like it was fraud. Due date for rabies was 4/20/24 already in their computer from prior appointments. Confirming a rabies shot 3 different ways is outrageous. If your elderly, or going through a difficult times, please go somewhere else as these two employees ego may get in their way. They chose to deny me service because I was confused on how I was being treated as they confirmed the rabies shot. Not allowed to ask questions here. They will talk over you and take offense when asked to keep it professional. read more

I brought my dog Buddy in to get groomed today I was excited about having a spa day and walk after....but when I was told it would take 4-5 hours to groom him I was a little more than surprised....seeing as they had other dogs and all that I would be thinking 2-3 hours max....needless to say I went back to check on him they told me he had a problem with the dryer no biggie he hates the vacuum but for you to tell me it's going to take another hour....TO DRY HIM OFF that's when I got really irate.... my dog looks good they did exactly what I asked except for call the right number for the pickup My dog looks good they got that right But the amount of time to groom a 30 pound dog is ridiculous I will not be bringing my Buddy back read more

Ive been going here for a few years and while not always 5 star, it is the norm. Today they helped me find cures for a very sick fish, very helpful and attentive. Decent prices and selection, plenty of parking, super dog friendly, clean and well organized. Went to puppy playtime for my new puppy. She has a blast and was completely worn out at the end of the session. There were puppies of all breeds and sizes so it was a good experience for me and her. The trainer was very helpful and gave me lots of tips. I found lots of things that I needed being a new dog mom. I don't usually leave reviews for things, but I really want to save you from what my dog went through. I made an appointment for a grooming, dropped my dog off at the appropriate time. They told me to give them 4 hours- a little long but I thought it was just to avoid overpromising. They took my number and said they'd text me when he was done. 4 hours passed and I did not receive a text. So I went into the shop to see if they just forgot to let me know. When I said my dog's name both of the groomers looked at each other in confusion both asking the other "was he yours?". They proceed to check in the back (a wall full of small kennels) and while doing so she drags the current dog she's grooming, on a lease by his neck as he refuses to go with her. She came back to the counter and asked me "how much time" did I have to wait because he hadn't been given a bath yet (trying to play it off). My next question was "well has he had a haircut?" The answer to that was no as well. In a rage I just asked for my dog back. And she brought him up looking terrified. He was hot to the touch and panting. Their remedy was to offer me a free service. I don't want their service. I want other people to not have the experience that my dog and I did. The manager made a thousand excuses and assured me that he at least had water. Which I hoped he did. But when we got home he ran straight to his water bowl and drank it all. Please save yourself from what happened to me. There are a thousand other places to get your dog groomed. Go anywhere else. read more

She is a healthy dog and when we walked in with her she was walking and so excited when they called and told me she was done and I picked her up she couldn't walk. When I asked what happened they told me that she is old and because she was in the crate. She is only 8. Again do not take your pet to petco for grooming. read more

I stopped in here the other day to pick up some crickets for my leopard geckos. I couldn't find anyone to help me, so I stood in line to ask the cashier to request some assistance. As I waited, and before she had called for help, someone asked if I was looking for crickets and I told him yes. He said someone should be over there, so I wandered back to look for someone. There was someone, gazing into a random fish tank. I asked if he could get me some crickets, and he just looked at me with a blank stare and asked what size. It was kind of creepy. I answered large, and those were the only words we spoke to each other during the whole transaction. I give them a plus because their crickets were the largest I've seen in a while. I went to this store because it is near my work. Walk in the store and the cashier and associate are talking about something on the cashiers phone. Never greeted me or asked if they could help me. They didn't carry the brand of dog food I wanted and the associate while stocking in the dog food section never acknowledged me or asked if I needed assistance. On the way out the cashier is at her register and just looks at me as I leave. Will not be going to this or any other Petco again. After spending 20 minutes explaining to the Petco Groomer that I did NOT want my puppy's face clipped, and only wanted 1 inch of my dog's 2 inch body hair clipped (she even took notes!) while the groomer was petting and feeling my dog's face and coat. I came back to find my dog shaved to the point that she was unrecognizable. They claimed that she was "very matted", which was not at all mentioned during the consultation, nor was I called to check if the change was okay. For this they wanted to charge me $70 for a 15 pound dog. read more

I took my cattle dog there for his first grooming ever. He got a deshed and Lisa was so fantastic! She took her time with him and she let me know what things he was fine with and when she needed to take her time with other things. She is a miracle worker because his shedding is really under control now! I would highly recommend Lisa to anyone! read more

I feel it is highly unprofessional for one of your employees to impress upon me what they would or wouldn't "do" to their dog. I was extremely offended to have some 20 something tell me that I am making poor choices for my dog by purchasing a product that YOU SELL in your store. Furthermore I was not asking for his recommendation on WHICH food to buy, but rather asking which of the ones within by brand would be offer less protein as I was told to switch between them by a PROFESSIONAL, my VET, when he starts to gain too much weight. Instead of getting the answer to my question I was made to feel like a bad dog owner by "doing this" to my dog rather than buy the Blue food your rep was shoving down my throat. I wonder how the Purina company would feel about your employees discouraging customers to purchase their products? And I also wonder how you would feel if you were to lose your deal with Purina over your employees pompous attitude. How dare you tell someone I wouldn't do that to me dog I would NEVER Feed him that. I will never shop there again. read more

This is a great pet store. I usually shy away from the big namm, box stores, but this PetCo is so reasonably located, it's hard to resist. I have never had a bad experience at this store and the employees are always incredibly helpful. I also highly recommend taking classes from the dog trainer, Sarah, who is highly knowledgable and a 'takes shit from no one' kind of woman. She is perfect for the job. read more

I like this Petco. After we adopted our dog, we came here to get all the necessary supplies. The trainer said hello and offered us tips on getting her settled in with us. On my most recent visit, I couldn't find the dog food I was looking for. The person stocking the shelves told me that they changed everything and showed me where my brand was. It made my visit go much more quickly and I appreciated that. The manager opened up a register to check me out instead of making me wait. I'll keep coming back. read more

I prefer to shop at Mom & Pop stores (Pet World at 10th and Wadsworth has been my go-to store since the 1980s). However, the employees here are so friendly and helpful that this store, which is much closer to me, gets a share of my pet budget. I typically have great luck getting assistance in finding or selecting products. I often have found product sales reps in the store, where they dispense coupons and information. This Spring I was offered assistance by an employee who turned out to be the in-store dog trainer, Karen. She guided me in selecting a training harness in lieu of the training collar I was seeking for my new best friend and gave me lots of keen training insights. She blew away my idea that a chain store trainer would have had mediocre training herself. Karen has raised, trained and shown large dogs for well over 30 years. I immediately asked about and signed up for beginning and intermediate classes, which have wrought terrific results from my then-difficult wild child. We will soon enroll in the good citizen certification class. read more

Our Deaf/Hard of Hearing+ class went to this store on a field trip to purchase some fish for a classroom tank, as part of a learning/science unit. Our kids, in addition to being deaf, have other physical, mental, and emotional challenges. Your employees would not honor any coupons, and made it plain that the teacher and her aides needed to "make sure you don't forget any of your kids. We don't want them". In utter disbelief that our kids and teaching staff were treated this way. Who says that type of thing, to a group of special needs children? read more

We bought a mouse and he died on the way home. They were totally unsympathetic. They just acted like I was returning a product. They didn't care an animal had just died or that my 6 year old was traumatized. The mice were covered in scabs from attacking each other, one of the rats couldn't even open his eyes and the ferrets litter box was so filthy I don't know how they were even still using it. They really shouldn't carry animals especially if they're too cheap to hire enough staff to properly care for them. read more

On January 18, 2015, I went into adopt a Pointer puppy from the rescue that was at the Petco store. The rescue is called Homecomings Dog Rescue. I took the puppy home, she was extremely sick with giardia and other bacteria's within 24 hours. I took her to the vet the next day, she passed away shortly afterward. This rescue brought these dogs up from Odessa Texas the night before my adoption, they were brought straight to Petco, no vet visit. I was informed there was a free vet visit within the first two weeks in Lakewood. Immediately after finding out she was sick, she was rushed to a pet hospital. The vet treated her for 38 hours, I was then informed the dog was far more sick than thought. She had an obstructed bowel from the trip up from Texas. Four days after adopting this puppy, she was put down. The woman who runs the rescue promised the private cremation and cost of ashes would be covered, however this was not true. I am being charged. When I asked her about this, she attacked me. She blamed me for the puppy's death, and was verbally abusive. She completely crossed the line. I just want you all to beware you may be getting a very sick dog from this PetCo. read more
