Customer service! I don't normally go to this Petco. I usually take my pet to the one in Aiken, but because they were full, I made an appointment at the one in Evans big mistake. Cashier was really rude to me because she thought that I was breaking line in which I was not breaking in line. I was just browsing the store and then she refused to wait on me after I complained that she embarrassed me but she made it seem like it was my fault for calling her out and she refused to wait on me she went to a different registered and left me standing there because I asked to speak to her manager. The manager did come upfront and wait on me and apologize for the cashier and proceeded to give me a discount on my order which I did not ask for because I did not want a discount. I want her to talk to her cashier on the way that she talked to me. I never asked for this a discount I could care less about a discount, but what I do care about is that the fact that that cashier embarrass me by letting me know that I was breaking the line when I clearly did not, if the young lady would have said ma'am, the lines back there it would've been a different reaction from me, but for her to stop ringing up the customer that she had to let Me know that ma'am, she was next in line I really did not appreciate that and again I said I was really embarrassed. They take extra special care of my boys and the love they show when they show up is special to me. I cannot book online because of their breed but again, they take care of me when I call and don't feel or sound aggravated as some places do. My boys are huge and are welcomed like any other dog. The Petco of Augusta lost us as customers today. We went in mainly to get crickets for my bearded dragon but after waiting for almost 30 minutes we walked out and went to Petsmart where we received excellent service. There were three associates who failed to help us get what we needed. The main associate in that area was "busy" helping out a customer, showing her tips on how to train her dragon. Two other associates were in the area and did not help out. I was a fan of that store but no any more. read more

I've bought both my crested geckos and my mice here. They have a problem with sexing rodents, because that rats that were given to me were both "males", but suddenly one of them had 9 babies. Don't bother wasting your time taking your pet to the Vetco Clinic. I have a prescription from their clinic, I was informed by Zoe they could do it. The next day I receive a call claiming they cannot, because it wasn't done at their store. Customer service was complete trash, and they don't care about your animals. Go somewhere else! read more

Maybe it's just me but it seems like PetCo is spiraling towards going out of business. The items they carry seem to be getting less and less. You stop in just to buy some kitty litter and you find all these fancy kitty litter's but I just need something for my cat to poop and pee in. I like Petco, "where the pets go!", better than PetSmart. The staff I've come across at this location are great. The cashiers are so friendly and helpful. I shopped at Petco years ago, then stopped when I moved from Greenville to Aiken. I always used my PetPals card, but never got rewards. I mentioned this recently to a cashier. She suggested I call- that they may give me all my backed coupons. I called. They did!!! I got my dog food for almost free yesterday! A++ for customer care. The other reason I prefer Petco is the brands of dog food they carry. They have the higher end brands and a larger variety than PetSmart. They have Merrick, a brand I love for my dog. They offer the dry and wet foods, treats and chews! While the PetSmart in Aiken is nice, the one is Augusta is dark and I felt a little unsafe! I feel better shopping at Petco. read more

This is a terrific pet store. I love how clean and pretty the aisles are and everything is organized! I appreciate the selection of kitty stuff that's kind of hard to find elsewhere and in my mind, I singsong along, "Petco...it's where my pet's go..." over and over until I eventually emerge cat food rich but money poor. I also enjoy scoping out the cute ferrets and hamster. My sweet little teddy bear hamster went to the hamster wheel in the sky so I spend an especially creepy amount of time staring at the hamsters hoping to find one that looks exactly like my little Snack. 6 months and that hasn't happened yet. I also pray for the day Georgia allows hedgehogs to be breed for pets 'cause I'd be all over that like cheese on chili fries. This place brings my blood pressure down, fulfills my kitties special renal failure needs and gives me many options for hiding their meds in gravy filled foods. read more

I just got my little dorky girl groomed today and I'm alarmed at how short the groomer went, I mean it's on the skin. She even has a cut or razor burn on her belly and neck and it looks painful. I'm so disappointed and upset. Also, her nails were cut and turned into sharp razors!!! Great store! I've been in several times recently looking for hermit crab supplies...each time I've needed assistance. The staff is always friendly and helpful. On my most recent visit they were doing pet cat adoptions...it was cuteness overload! The staff and volunteers were so knowledgeable about the kittens. And I also found out that they have pet adoptions set up every weekend so if you're in the market for a new pet go check them out! This is definitely my go to spot for pet supplies! read more

I think Petco has a great selection of items, the groomers have always done a nice job, and I love that they host adoptions. I will say that the store employees are usually pretty awkward and unhelpful. The overall store is nice but it is either understaffed or poorly managed as things were really messy like in the dog collar section for instance half the collars weren't up on the hooks, a lot were off their packaging and we never had anyone ask if we needed any help. The prices are also higher than most other stores in town ie a climbing rope leash for 19.99$ where as I got the same leash at a different store for 9.99$. if you need a specialty dog or cat food then it is where you need to shop. They also seem to have limited their brands to what appear to be "in house" brands that you don't find anywhere else; same product at a higher price and under a different name. The staff at the other location seem to be a lot more "on it". If avoidable I won't be coming back. read more

This is a good, solid little petco. Though I can't speak on the grooming since the employees don't seem to know how much something would cost (I was quoted $55 for my dog, then when I called it told it would be at least $80 and probably closer to $120. Alrighty then, I'll groom my dog myself). The employees rate about a B in animal knowledge. For the average person who feeds their dog a sack of dog chow, they're going to be amazed when the employees start talking. For lunatics like me who devote way too much time to learning Animal Things, I end up sighing at their recommendations of Solid Gold when I say I don't want a food processed at a Diamond Dog Food plant. Still. They do try to help and they're overall great people. I don't really expect the kind of obsession me and some others have, and it's nice to see them actually try. Petsmart on bobby jones doesn't really do that as much. They're friendly, but they just send you over to the nutro guy when you have a food question. Not the best answer there. This Petco is also so sparkling clean all of the time that I feel like I should wipe my feet at the door. read more

I went in to buy ONE fish. I stood at the betta cups for about 30 minutes looking at the 3 dead ones, n decided I would buy several to give at least a few a decent shot. No one ever stopped by to see if I needed help. Anyway, I picked out my 3, n walked over to pay for them. I let the cashier know about the dead fish. He told me there was nothing he could do, another company comes in to discard the dead ones. Bizarre.. So they just display dead fish for sale. I took my little rescued fish home n gave them 3 separate bowls all properly set up for bettas. They all seemed sluggish, not very colorful, n they died within 6 hours. I have a betta I got from Bob's tropical fish, he's about a year old, active, healthy, tons of personality. Long story short, never buy a pet from petco. They are unhealthy. All I'm going to say is that a pinterest tutorial would have went much better than the haircut they gave my sweet little yorkie! They cut off his whiskers right to the Hair follicle....he has chunks of uneven hair throughout his Back.......and they shaved him down so close he had raspberry balls.......and then charge 48$ for the shitty service! I love picking my babies up from the Grooming salon because they're always so happy,smell delicious and are ready for a nap! Summer does an excellent job with Elin and Cade. They both hate getting their nails trimmed but she still gets it done. She is also very willing to accommodate my schedule, which is very appreciated. I also love the treat bar and that it offers a nice variety. Chris did a great job with puppy training when Cade was younger. read more

For a pet store this place is ok. The aisles are wide. The selection is decent. The store is clean and doesn't smell of animals. Like their counter part they make you sign up for email barrages if you want to take advantage of their discounts which I don't like. Also they have signs in the store that are misleading. Looking at canned cat food we just wanted to pick up just a few cans. Then I looked down and they had a 24 pack they said you could save a $1.00 on over buying it by the can which wasn't the case.. You would save 10 cents after I did the math. a savings yes but not the $1.00 as advertised so I just got a couple cans got a couple cat treats and was on my way. Excellent and wide variety of pet products to choose from. Appears to sell healthy fish. However the customer service is horrible. I dealt with a very cold and unfriendly cashier. Your lucky to find an employee that works their to help you or answer any questions. The customer service help button also appears to be broken as no employees respond. If Petco improved their employees customer service I would recommend an upgrade in stars. read more

Bought a guinea pig yesterday from Petco in Evans. After a few hrs. Realized she had a respiratory infection. I called them had to bring her back, was told they would bring her to vet first thing in the morning and let me know how she was. I received no phone call so called manager. He told me they hadnt called vet yet and it was after 10 already. I was upset as she can die quickly with improper care, as I have had guinea pigs all my life. He was not concerned, I had to get ugly to get any care for her. Was told they would get her care today. Well it is now after 12 noon and still no word. They dont care about their live animals. Fabulous service at the fish/reptile counter! We needed about 25 crickets for our guinea fowl keets. The gentleman working the counter today talked to us right when we walked up and kept up friendly banter the whole time. He even took out a bearded dragon named Freddy and showed us a trick where the lizard played dead! We came in for the cat litter coupon and crickets and left in an awesome mood. :) read more

I had my dog groomed here for the first time recently and when we picked her up she still looked very dirty. We asked them to cut the knot of hair from underneath her ears and they didn't do it at all. The one knot they did cut, they left the hair clipping inside of her ear. My husband had to pull the leftover hair out. I paid almost $50 for a full service which includes a bath. It seems that they simply sprayed her instead of washing her. I know what my dog looks/smells like after a bath. I am very disappointed with the service of this Petco. My husband was also waiting around for almost 4 hours for them to finish. I am not sure why, because it seems that they did not do too much. Therefore, that means my dog was just sitting in a cage for a majority of the time. I will not be coming back here for any grooming needs in the future. read more
