I love this place. This was the first place I brought my puppy for grooming and boarding when I moved here 7 years ago. I brought her back here for grooming, and to my relief they did just as good of a job as they did 7 years ago. They still got it!! They cut her hair perfectly and I had no complaints. She's a small dog (Yorkie/ Shitzu mix) about 9 pounds. It cost about $58 for the full grooming treatment. I appreciated that they got rid of the shed hair after her cut. He last groomer did not and I would have hair all over my clothes and car. There are two things I didn't like: 1.) The rather large cat that was just walking on the counter. I am strictly a dog person and cats freak me out. 2.) There is construction being done on the street out front. It makes it hard to see where to turn in and I got blocked in by a cement truck as I was trying to leave. I know it's not their fault, but it was aggregating to deal with. read more

I have always had a good experience with D-Tails, however one incident was enough to warrant this response. I took my dog in for a routine trimming, and when I recovered my dog, he had a blood clot burst in their eye. when I confronted them about it, they proceeded to act as if nothing happened, when I showed them they then proceeded to tell me that my dog had an accident in the tub. My dog has never had an accident up till this point. I took my dog to the vet, where the vet told me her suffered a hard hit to the eye, which led to the blood clot. Set me back a $200 vet visit, but that's a small price to pay for peace of mind. I will not be returning my dog to D-Tails ever again, and I wouldn't advice anyone go again. read more

I normally board my dogs at a place that I LOVE. Owners were on vacation. Went to D'Tails based on decent reviews. We did a trial run; went okay. My dog: 12lb Jack. Alpha female. Has been in "free range" boarding many, many times with no issues. Not aggressive, but she is territorial. D'Tails had an "agitated/nervous big dog" in with the big dogs (they said Lab/mix, so I'm imaging 40-50 lbs)... And decided to move him to the small dog pen. I worked for a breeder in a past life (20-30 dogs on a ranch) and there are a couple of "no b.s." rules to follow: # fregging 1.) Agitated/nervous pups need a break and need to calm down before putting them anywhere near another dog, let alone in a pack (I.e. a big pen of small dogs). 2.) Don't put big dogs in with little ones. End result... My got munched. D'Tails apologized profusely. They paid all the vet bills (as they should). When I was leaving the girl told me "it looks worse than it is"... Auhhhh. I wanted to scream! Just a warning... D'Tails is not properly set up for a free range doggie atmosphere. Don't board your dogs there. read more

I hate to give these types of reviews, but if I can save another pup owner the trouble that we went through it is worth it. PLEASE be careful when sending your pooch to this groomer during the hot Summer months. We took our sweet Golden Retriever to be groomed last week. When I picked him up, I could tell that he was walking a little funny. Upon inspecting him when we got home, I noticed that his paw pads had been burned and were peeling from his feet! I also noticed that his nails were cut extremely short and one was bleeding. We called the groomer and they confirmed that the dogs had been playing outside all day and they only have concrete out back.... It was atleast 95 degrees on this day. It blows my mind that they would not know better than to let these poor dogs burn their feet. They did state they would pay any vet bills. However, we were leaving the next day on vacation and our poor Scout couldn't even walk for several days after. He also had severe bloody diarrhea which our vet told us was from the traumatic experience of his feet getting burned. With all that said, we will not be returning and will find a mobile groomer from now on. read more

My dog is only 2 years old, and she was rescued from a shelter. Because she is a husky, I got tired of taking care of the grooming at home (mainly bathing). I must admit, she is not a fan of baths. She also hates getting her paws touched. I was nervous at first because I thought they would struggle with her but they said she does a great job! Her first two times there she was a bit nervous, but now she's got the hang of it. She loves it there! She always ends up smelling amazing, and they do a great job with her paws. They also have very reasonable prices, I 100% recommend! read more

Our normal groomer would not take our golden mix, Buddy. He said due to his age and the fact that they had never groomed Buddy. No problem for D'Tails. Christy did the most amazing job. Originally it was a cut only. Buddy is a very gentle dog. He was so at ease she gave him a bath also. The only problem is that Buddy was ready to get back on the table instead of coming home. Great place for grooming. Yes we will be back. read more

This place is great. We have boarded our dog here a few times and mainly come for dog wash and nails trimmed. I drop him off in the morning and pick him up late afternoon and my dog is always cheerful acting and feels and smells great after the visit. He also takes a snooze on the drive home. It's like a spa and play day for our dog. Staff is nice and friendly. The establishment is clean and well maintained. Always a great experience. read more

Really dissatisfied with the groom my dog got. They burned the heck out of his scrotum so badly that I had to take him to the vet the next day. He cried when he got in the car and when he got home. I was puzzled until he rolled over and flopped his legs out, then I saw he was purple and red with irritation. Took my dog for an evaluation to see if she could board for one night. I have never boarded her before but she's around people and dogs all the time. The lady said my dog could not stay there bc she was "too excited" but had a "great personality." What do you expect a 9 month old large breed dog to do when you put the other big dogs outside to play and make mine stay inside??? Must be nice to be able to turn away business. I believe we were discriminated against bc my dog is a pit bull mix. She was a rescue and is the sweetest dog ever. Yes she's got a lot of energy but isn't that the point of letting her go outside and play??? I will NEVER step foot in that place again and I hope they shut down. read more

This review is for their grooming services. I can't speak to their daycare. I was so happy with my first experience at D'Tails. I arrived early as I had to get to school by 9 and was worried about making it on time. They let me right in and said they didn't mind taking dogs early as long as they were there. They were so nice when I told them what I wanted with my dog's grooming job. They communicated with me throughout the day so that I was aware of pick up timing. When I arrived to get him, he was in the front office area chilling out, rather than being in a kennel. They did a perfect job and followed my instructions to the tee. Best grooming he's ever received in Augusta. And... the price was right! Very reasonable for a large dog with a thick coat. My only suggestion for improvement is maybe more frequent potty breaks? My pup immediately stopped to relieve himself when we left and it seemed like he'd been holding it for awhile. But, great job! I'll be back :) read more

Told us they couldn't take our dog after we had a reservation and showed up at 8:30 in the morning on our way out of town. One of the owners response says they cater to dogs individuals needs but that appears to just be lip service after the fact. Our dog is still a puppy and is nervous around people and dogs for a bit then very friendly and gentle. We told them this. Unprofessional to wait until we show up to tell us they were not honoring our reservation. read more

I have been to D'tails 2 times with my dog and each time was outstanding! Our dog is a rescue and is shy and nervous around new people, but he went right to the nice lady at the front desk. When I picked him up he was playing with the other dogs and was the happiest guy. They mentioned he was very well behaved and easy to groom. He looked absolutely stunning and smelled great! My pit bull has been coming here for years. They take good care of my dog regardless of her breed she is treated just as kind as the other breeds. That means so much to me considering the reputation that the pit bull breed has. I have even boarded my dog here before with no issues at all. Great staff always even over the phone. My dog use to love going there, then got to where he didn't want to go in. Left him there for play day for a couple hrs. came back early found him hollering locked up in the bathroom. I was pretty upset. There is way to many dogs in that small business building. He was so thirsty he drink a whole bottle of water and was nervous all the way home. I recommend anyone that leaves there dog there to watch closely for any changes in dog actions. He want be going there anymore. read more

I have been to many different groomers and have had a hard time finding the right place for my cocker spaniel and german shepherd mix, until we heard about D'Tails. As soon as you walk through the door you can see that the pups are so happy and comfortable. Definitely not like any grooming salon we've ever been to! My german shepherd mix is scared around strangers and often will lash out when he feels threatened, so we gave up on going to a grooming salon altogether! We would take him to the vet instead to get nail trimming, but were never satisfied because they couldn't shape them. On the first visit at D'Tails, (with the supervision of our amazing trainer Beth) Ben was able to get his nails trimmed and shaped! He did an awesome job due to the patients and knowledge of the staff! Tracey was amazing! We will definitely be back many more times!! read more

I have been bringing my puppy in for grooming at D'tails for several months now. I have always been very happy with the grooming my puppy receives and have always recommended this local business to all of my coworkers who ask about a place to take their own dogs. However, I recently boarded my puppy for the week while my husband and I were on vacation and I am very disappointed and disatisfied with my experience this time around. When I called and scheduled for my puppy to be dropped off for the week, I was told that it was perfectly fine to call and check on how my puppy was doing, that I would be receiving photos of her through out the week, and if I left special instructions that they would be followed. I found this to be the complete opposite of my experience during the week puppy stayed. It was around the 4th day of my trip and I still had not received a single photo of her (despite leaving both my email and phone number), so I decided to call and see how she was doing. I called and immediately the person on the phone gave me the impression that my call was a bother and tried to get me off the phone as quickly as possible. I understand if she was busy, she could have asked if I could call back in 30 mins or an hour if she was in the middle of something, but instead she rushed me off the phone when I was trying to find out how my puppy was doing since I had not heard anything like I was told I would. Before being rushed off the phone, I asked if I could receive a photo of her like I was told, and confirmed my number. I did not receive any photo for the rest of day, and I received the most blurry photo the next day. During the 7 days that my puppy was boarded, this was the only photo I received and I did not feel comfortable calling again after the treatment the first time around. In addition to this, when I dropped off my pup, I reminded the girl there that I included daily breath bones for her, like I initially stated when I made the appointment. In the bag, I had exactly 7 for the 7 days that she would be boarded. When I picked her up, there were 5 bones in the bag meaning that she did not get her daily bone like I instructed and was reassured that she would receive. I reiterated this twice before I left, and it still was not followed. This makes me incredibly weary to leave my puppy under this care again, what if it had been a medication that she absolutely needed? I wouldn't trust the care based on this past experience. All in all, after this experience boarding my puppy, I will not be returning to this location for our grooming needs. I am disappointed in the service in that received, and I no longer would recommend coming here. I sent an email to the owner about my experience a few weeks ago and I haven't heard back anything at all about my concerns. read more
