They love your animals like they are their own! I say this because my teenager who is obsessed with animals works there. She's a pet cuddler and loves her job. She's excited to tell us all about her day with all of her babies. She enjoys walking the animals and spending quality time playing with them. She even enjoys the one on one cuddling sessions. They have a photo both area where they take pictures of your pet and it's just the cutest. Since my daughter started working there we've used PK for grooming services. This is a review on my experience with Paradise Kennels crematory services. First I know if you are looking for a pet crematory service your heart is breaking and I know that pain. In this moment you need compassionate people and you have found the place. When I reached out to Paradise, I spoke with Donovan he was patient with my inability to make decisions. The staff was kind and empathetic. There is not a part of the process they don't think of - even phoning to let me know He had her with him from the pickup. Disappointed to say the least. I used their crematory services when my little ratty passed. When I dropped him off Donovan was more than helpful and greatly explained the process and what to expect. I filled out the form with my rats name and everything was fine. I when I picked up his remains his name was misspelled not only on the death certificate but the paw print as well! This is a careless mistake that was 100% unavoidable. I called Paradise kennels and asked if I can get another certificate. They where apologetic and said of course. I dropped off the certificate Friday 4/7/23 and was told I'd get a call back the following Monday. It's now 4/19/23 and I've yet to get any call. I called last Wednesday and was put on hold then hung up on. This is unprofessional and careless. If they're this careless about typing I'd never entrust them with my pets. read more

He literally THREW my dog at me because I didn't appreciate how they treated me or my dog upon check in. He said "Take your damn dog and go somewhere else!" This review is about a visit to the kennel in July of last year. I've just now become a user of Yelp. I've boarded my dog at different locations in different cities as we have moved around. He is a 7 lb. maltese. I dropped my dog off for a week long stay while I went on vacation at a place that didn't allow dogs...I usually take him with me when I can. Upon returning, my dog wouldn't come out of the kennel...so I was asked to go back and get him. Well, when I got there he looked extremely scared and shaken. He came out to me. When the employee tried to put his collar and leash on he yelped and snapped at her. I didn't take notice that for some reason, his collar was not on him but had to be put on him. I asked if everything went ok and if he had any problems while there and was told that everything was fine. Ok...good. We get home and my dog is happy to be there. But he is having trouble eating. Then I rubbed the left side of his face and he yelped again. At this point, I know something is wrong with my dog. We go to the vet. Long story short, after x-rays and an exam, I learn that my dogs jaw is broken! His jaw required surgery at UGA Vet School and 8 weeks of healing. While my dog was in for surgery at UGA (over night stay was required) I went back to Paradise Kennel to ask the staff exactly what happened and why my dog's jaw was broken. Of course no one knew anything and just kept repeating that everything was fine. So I ask to see the records for my dog's feedings to determine how long he hadn't eaten. Or course the records said he ate all his food everyday, with a broken jaw...but some how after eating all his food everyday, again, with that broken jaw, he had managed to lose 2lbs...about a third of his body weight. But again...nobody saw anything and everything was just fine. My dog is doing great now. If you love your pet, don't ever take them to Paradise Kennels. I'm afraid that something worse might happen to someone else's pet. read more

We cannot express enough how thankful and awesome our experience was with the staff and grooming services our Yorkie received while at Paradise Kennels. Our Yorkie is a very, very difficult groom and for years, due to her anxiety and behavior, my husband and I have been trying to groom her ourselves. After much stress, I decided I would give PK a call and see what their thoughts were regarding our situation, since she is so anxious and aggressive while being groomed. They were so kind and understanding. They took time to explain our options and made us feel very comfortable in giving it a try. We took her in, fully anticipating that she might have to be sedated in order to accomplish the services needed but when my husband brought her home, I was amazed! She needed no sedation and they exceeded my expectations. They not only gave her the best cut she has ever had, they were able to do it without any sedation - nails, face, paws and all! About a month ago I took my very old cat to the groomer to get a flea bath and haircut for the first time. My cat is very crotchety and Paradise Kennels did such an amazing job with her. They took her in for the day, pampered her and the cat who had never had a haircut came out adorable. They commented on how sweet she was and she came back more loving than I've ever noticed before. Today I took my 7 mo old puppy here to get groomed. He is very hyper and I took him to petsmart last week to get groomed. Petsmart send him home after spending $50 on his bath, nail cuts, etc. and called me stating they couldn't do the haircut because he was to hyperactive and scared of clippers. I told paradise kennels this and the women on the phone told me they loved dogs and would work with him to make him feel safe and comfortable. I just got him back and he looks like a real miniature schnauzer. Paradise kennels will be my forever groomer from this point on. My boyfriend picked up our dog this evening after a week's stay at Paradise. We sent towels and a blanket, so our dog wouldn't have to lie on the kennel floor. These items were handed back upon picking up our dog........ THEY WERE COVERED IN URINE!! There's no reason for this, our dog has never had an accident in our home and I can only imagine how long he was left unattended in his kennel; there was no reason to receive urine soaked bedding. Our dog is very well behaved and all he wanted to do was RUN FOR THE DOOR and go home. I find it strange that after a 10 minute ride home, our dog ran into the house, immediately went to his water bowl and drank his bowl dry. He then looked up and wanted more water. We couldn't believe how parched he was. This will be the last time are dog ever goes to this kennel and I'm glad that he didn't sustain any injuries; like previous clients' dogs did. It's sad that you can't trust someone to take care of your pet. read more

I used to take my dog here and let me first say that my dog is a MAJOR pain because she has severe anxiety issues so I am hesitant to board her anywhere. Since my dog is small and was scared, they let her stay in the cat room which was quieter. I really appreciated that. I also liked that they verify all your dogs shots are up to date, the first time I was there I didn't realize one of my dogs shots had just lapsed and they would not let me board her until I took her to get the shot. It was also comforting that the place has a vet on staff. That being said, they nickle and dime you TO DEATH. I brought my dogs meds that can be taken if needed.....she got those meds every. single. day. since they charge you by the pill which raised the bill a lot. My dog also wouldn't come out of the kennel when I went to get her but I don't know if that is because of them or her. The staff does seem rather cold, especially the woman who seems to be in charge. No one really seemed like they were "dog people". My dogs linens were soiled but again, I don't know if that was because the staff didn't want to reach into my dogs cage since she is anxious or if it was because they just didn't want to change the linens. At the end of the day, it got the job done. I don't know if I would outright direct someone to take their pet there but I also wouldn't discourage it. read more

I am very unhappy with this kennel. We left two cats there for one week during Masters week 2018. Both cats came home loaded with fleas. When I called to complain, they told me the cats were isolated and had NO contact with any other cat. They were in their cage the entire time. We have been taking our dog here for about two years. He is groomed here and we use them for the boarding. Never have had a problem. My dog is a senior and doesnt like most people. But never a problem going in here. When we are on vacation i call and check on him. And when we pick him up he is always happy. The grooming is amazing never a problem never any fleas on him. he is well taken care of when he is there. even with all his medical issues. I have used Paradise for years. I take all of my animals to Paradise Vet and bring my cat to the kennels to be groomed. I have always had a great experience. The staff is very nice & the premises is clean. It always smells really good in the lobby. I have worked with Paradise Kennels to groom and board foster dogs for the rescue group I work with. They took great care of our fosters who where there for an undetermined amount of time in the beginning. read more

I don't leave reviews if they are bad, I'd like to give someone the chance to improve without blasting them on social media. Both dogs I boarded smelled horrible when I picked them up and they got a good bath before we dropped them off. Second, both have had the kennel cough shots. I have boarded them multiple places over the last 3-4 years and never had an issue. They both have kennel cough now. My wife called up there and talked to someone and all she got was I'm sorry. Third, I would like to think they will work on their customer service skills, which were not great. All of these things can be easily fixed. read more

I have been coming to this location for almost my whole life- as a child my father brought our family dog here and as an adult bring my own dog.The customer service here is always an issue for me personally but I stay because of the history my family has had with the company. I admittedly have a hyper active dog I understand this but every time she has a stay or grooming appointment there are always so many negative comments to me directly. "She is crazy" is what the young lady said to me today. No hello how are you doing she just handed me the leash and yelled out "She is crazy!". Now I understand my dog is hyper but she isn't aggressive, no "bad" behaviors - just VERY ENERGETIC-never any isolated incidents that have been reported to me ever while she is under their care...so the rude comments should be taken care of by management. My dog isn't crazy, my dog is hyper and you should be used to hyper active dogs since you are employed at a dog grooming/ boarding establishment. Unfortunately this isn't my first experience with rude behavior from staff. I work in marketing for a major company so by the looks of other reviews before mine I can see the areas of opportunity are vast. My advice- save your petty complaints, paying customers are highly offended and will take their business elsewhere. Dog groomers are easy to find in this area. read more

Horrible facilities and service. If you think it's goo, you have never seen an appropriate, sanitary boarding center.. Last experience was awful.. against better judgement I tried to board her in a pinch. Stayed on hold for 15 minutes, cut off, dialed back, was told that i was being put on hold, i explained my prior 15 minnute ordeal, the girl said "tough, I'm the only one here" and hung up on me. Do yourselves a favor and check out lexington pet lodge in Columbia, CLEAN, Friendly, Dogs look forward to going there, better value. I think county should consider shutting this Paradise down. This was my first time boarding my dog at a kennel. I don't have any other place to compare this to, but my experience here was extremely unsatisfactory. I dropped off my dog without any issues. The staff were polite but otherwise unremarkable. They require proof of updated shots (rabies, kennel cough, etc.), which I'm sure all kennels do. I had called ahead to ask whether or not I had to bring my dog in ahead of time to do a temperament test, but they said this was not necessary because the dogs are kept separated. They're open until 5:00 PM, but check-out time is 12:00 PM, so make sure you pick up your baby before noon, otherwise you get charged for another day. The kennels themselves weren't very remarkable. The kennel area smelled bad, which was somewhat expected but still made me wonder how well they are cleaned. They were rectangular and separated into 2 sections by a doggy door. The idea is that one side is used for sleeping and eating while the other side is for "doing business". I asked them how often my dog would be let outside, but apparently those were considered "pampering sessions" consisting of 15-20 minutes in the "play area" (will get to this in a second) and would cost me $8 extra per "session". I was shown the "play area", which was a fenced in area made up of entirely concrete, no grass. I was told this was to prevent dogs from digging themselves out. I was surprised that the play area was so small, probably about the size of an apartment living room. The kennel itself is on a sizable piece of land. I think part of it is used for the pet cemetery, but it seems like a huge waste to not fence in a large area for dogs to play in the grass. The lady showing me where my dog would be boarded probably saw a look on my face (I was surprised that it cost extra on top of what I had to pay to let my dog out for a few minutes), so she reassured me that she had been working there for 18 years and all of the animals are well-taken care of. I guess that depends on your definition of "well-taken care of". Thankfully I was only gone for 2 days. When I came back to pick my dog, there was a couple ahead of me picking up their cat. The staff were chatting them up (seemed like they were regulars). When it was my turn to get my dog, they just told me the price (came out to be $50 for 2 nights, which included the ~$2 fee they charge if you use a credit/debit card). They didn't update me on my dog or anything. I had to prod them for more information. I asked them if she did well while she was boarded, and I was told "We would've called you if we had any problems". I guess that was a little reassuring (not really), but not for what happened next. I didn't notice this until I got home because my dog was bouncing around super happy to see me (and probably with an overabundant amount of energy from not being walked/exercised properly for 2 days). So they returned a bag of leftover doggy food that my dog hadn't eaten along with a smaller bag of something. I didn't look closely at the smaller bag while I was there. When I got home, I realized that the smaller bag had a note written on it that said my dog had chewed a plastic bag and vomited the day after I dropped her off. First of all, I don't consider chewing a plastic bag and vomiting "no problems". Secondly, I'm not sure WHY or HOW my dog had access to the plastic bag. I think this was the grocery bag that I had given the staff containing the food that I had packed and portioned ahead of time (my dog has a sensitive tummy). There was NO REASON my dog should've had access to it. Lastly, I'm not sure why the chewed up bag was even returned to me. I'm extremely upset about what happened. At least my dog didn't seem like she was overly stressed when I picked her up. The one good thing about this place is that they had plenty of kennels, not like some other places where they get booked up super early because they have a lot fewer kennels. I'll try to look for someone to dog/house-sit next time I'm out of town (which is usually what I do), or I'll give another kennel a try. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone. Maybe other people have had better experiences, but not me. This was the first and last time I'm letting them board my baby. read more

I think it's funny how people complain about picking their dog up from "camp" and believe someone put urine on their dog because she never has accidents! Your best friends are Animals people!! After spending one night at this kennel we picked up my dog. No issues that we could tell right away, but we get to the parking lot and this guy pee's like Austin powers after he is unfrozen. We are talking a very long pee. Anyhow I say that to say this; it's obvious they were not letting him out enough to use the bathroom. So we get home and this guy drinks two bowls of water almost immediately. This tells me that he was not being given enough water while he was there. So the wife and I think okay that's the end of it, and that we are never going to board there again. Well over the next few days my dog isn't acting like his normal happy go lucky self. We let him outside and he just mopes, or lays down in the grass. Both are things he doesn't do when we let him outside. Then out of no where, while he is laying in the bedroom, he starts yelping. We take him to the vet to see if he can find anything, and nothing. My gut tells me that there is more going on in this place than just general neglect of the animals. I've read the other reviews to include the one where a persons dogs jaw was broken. This leads me to believe that my dog could have been beaten while he was there. This would explain the depression he seemed to be experiencing, and the yelping could have been from muscle bruising. All I can say is the reviews speak for themselves. One is fluke, two is a coincidence, but three or more is a trend. This should make the 6+ one star review that I have seen on here; see the trend? They treat our Apollo like he is family. They are so kind and sweet to him. They make time to play with him and check on him. They consistently answer any questions I have about his stay. My dog spent 3 nights and her fur around her legs was completely saturated in urine as if she was just sitting in her urine for days. I have a shih tzu so when they sit they fold their arms and legs back and this is where the urine was all over her legs and and arms. This was her second boarding. I also paid $75 to have her groomed the day I dropped her off to come back and see her with uring everywhere. Then, pay $75 for boarding.
