I want to share about the consistent care Highland has always provided. We have three furry family members, and seven total over the past 7 years*. Highland has seen them all. *It's worth mentioning that we cared for a few hospice and elderly dogs at the beginning. You can usually get an appointment within a week, but if it's an emergency they will squeeze you in. They also care for other animals. I've seen cats, birds, and ferrets in that lobby. My crew has had annual check ups, teeth cleaned, teeth removed, anal glands expressed here. I appreicate their love for our furry family and recommend them to others.

They put her in a cage for 30 minutes to see how she would react. The cage was above the floor, on top of another cage so she had no space to move around. It was the equivalent of putting a dog in an animal shelter. I decided to not board her there. I had a feeling if I had, she would have spent almost all of her time inside the cage and would not have been given opportunities to go outside, except to relieve herself. I didn't see adequate space for dogs to run, just lots of cages.

In the last three…read moreyears I've spent probably thousands of dollars and many trips to the vet for various cat ailments and check ups. Some in Pennsylvania and some here in the CSRA. At almost all of them I've been disappointed in the cost and lack of expense disclosure before a service is done, but it's also just a hassle to get scheduled for things that aren't super emergent but also can't wait for a month. CSRA Life Saver is a low cost preventative vet clinic. That means they do not treat sick animals, and they can't prescribe much other than some preventative flea/tick/heart worm medicines and dewormers. What they DO offer is walk in appointments (they do not schedule ahead except for spay/neuter surgeries), vaccines, microchips, pet health maintenance (like ear mite cleaning, deworming, nail trims, etc). Their prices are listed clearly online and in the office, and they require that you fill out a form ahead of time and clearly mark which services you want that day. When you arrive, you fill that out first (or you can print it at home and bring it in) then go in to the desk and sign in. By the number of chairs I saw, the wait can get long at times but both times I've been so far there was very little wait. Because they do minimal services, appointments don't last very long and they can see a lot of people. Their prices are the lowest I've found by a LOT and they seem interested in just doing what they can to help animals and owners in a timely manner. The office itself is pretty simple- it's an old house type building converted to an office. There is some indoor waiting room area but many chairs on the porch for overflow. I did not accompany my cat into the exam room and didn't see other owners do that either, so just be ready for that. They take cards and cash. The only issue I've had is the microchip I got on my kitten seems to have moved from the shoulder blade location I assumed they inserted it at, but I think that's more likely my kitten being a little underweight for his age (a recent stray we took in). I wish they had mentioned prior to the microchipping that you can't bathe the animal for a few days, and now with the movement of the chip I wish I'd waited to get that done til they neuter him or something but it's too late now. Overall, the prices cannot be beat and they offer helpful guidance on saving money and getting what's best for your pet.

I showed up for my new appointment only to be told that they needed to reschedule again. The receptionist stated that she called me earlier and left me a voicemail. Obviously I didn't get the message and never called back to reschedule. The receptionist just assumed I received the message and never tried to recall. My appointment was at noon and I was told that they could squeeze him in, but it wouldn't be till after 5pm. I wasn't just going leave him, so I left. customer lost!!

Dexter would probably rather live at daycare than with us. We've been bringing him 2-3x/week for…read moredaycare for the last 2.5 years or so, we've boarded him probably half a dozen times and he gets a bath once a month. We've never had any issues and he always comes home properly worn out from a long day of play and he loves everyone who works there (and they all love him, too!) It's also done wonders for his social skills. When we first started bringing Dexter, he was extremely dog reactive and was completely unable to focus on anything if there were other dogs nearby. Now that he gets to play with other dogs regularly, he's much more well behaved on walks when we pass other dogs.

I boarded my 6 cats and 2 ferrets there for a quick trip to visit family for the holidays. When picking my pets up and arriving home I discovered that one of my cats had her front paws bloody and her nails had been damaged and pulled out. I notified the vet to only be blown off. No one knew anything. Dr Marley, the owner and vet, has shown no compassion for animals anymore. Needless they will never see my pets again.

The lady vet there had just taken over that day. They shaved her fur in spots to see the wounds and did an x-ray. They did provide pain medicine and antibiotics for her as well as a $40 bottle of concentrated flea spray for the yard at my request. When I got up to the counter and got the bill I almost had a heart attack! It was over $900!!! So close to a K that I just handed her that and got maybe $20-30 back in change. I was flabbergasted. Yes it was almost 11 at night. Yes, it was an emergency case but dang!!! I've never had to pay that much when my other dog had a surgery and had to stay for a week at another clinic. Long story short, they missed a puncture wound and it abscessed but my baby is fine now and I will NEVER take another animal there.
