Immediately after (3mins into the conversation) they said they could no longer cancel. Now I have to dispute through my credit card holder and will go through chewy to my new address so my dog can get her food. Today I took my two Bernedoodle puppies to Petco for grooming. One is 85 lbs. and the other is 35lbs. One of them had terrible matting in her tail and I thought the groomer would have to cut off all the fur in her tail. Also, both puppies' faces were cut too tight to their faces last time, and this time their faces are round and adorable, as any sweet Bernedoodle should be! He was also able to save our sweet girl's tail. Our groomer was Mason at the Ellicott City location. He listened to all of my concerns and produced two beauties!! I really appreciate it!! read more

Lucy graduated from her Petco class today! We're constantly working and training every day, but you can never have a strong enough foundation, and I love taking classes with her where she doesn't have to necessarily be "working" but she can still use her brain and sharpen up what she already knows. Next month we take our CGC class, and then it's going to be exam time! Not only did our class helpe us refine our basics in distracting environments, but it also made us a lot more confident for the CGC, and I can't wait to take the class and test. I definitely prefer Petco's training methods too- we've been to Petsmart as well, and at Petco I have more freedom to work in my own training style with what we're learning. Petco also has superior safety protocols in place, including a three feet rule between pets! This both impressed me and made me feel great about taking Lucy here because I knew she wouldn't be getting harassed by another dog. Whether you're looking to socialize a new puppy, work with an adult or senior, or hone the skills you already have, Petco is a great choice. Lucy is enamored with our trainer, Jackie, and if I could I would talk about our dogs together all day long! I have nothing but good things to say about working with Jackie. I have been taking my beagle/bichon to Brittany Schaefer for 3 years now. My dog is my baby and I have always heard horror stories when it comes to grooming and I was so nervous to drop him off for the 1st time. I walked into the grooming salon & instantly felt at peace with how welcoming the whole team was, especially Brittany. Brittany guided me with how I wanted Thor groomed since I had no idea! His first cut we started off small but each cut we changed it up but by now, I just drop him off and dont even have to specify! Thor always comes home just the way we like him trimmed and smells so clean! I never EVER have a complaint which as we all know, can be very rare. Brittany has even taken some pictures of him while getting groomed so we can see how he does! Britany is always done in a timely manner. Brittany is a fabulous groomer and I have no doubt the rest of her team is just as great! Did I mention I drive 30 minutes just to have Brittany groom our dog? She is that great! I arrived on time for my schedule 8:00am grooming appointment, but nobody was at the store. The sign on the door says they do not open until 9:30am, and nobody picked up when I called, so I left. Afterwards, I was informed that the 8am groomer arrived late, but that she was there within 15 minutes, so I should have stayed. No apology, no attempt to make anything right. I was eventually called by someone, maybe a manager? who berated me for leaving early (because I should have known there's a 15 minute rule, apparently) and told me I should have called (which of course I had done). Background: My son, age 12, is a member of several Aquarium Societies and Associations in Maryland and Florida with an amazing, in-depth knowledge of fish and I, personally, have over 30yrs experience with breeding and owning home aquarium fish. Currently, we have three (3) aquariums ranging from 30-gallon (breeder) through to 125-gallon. Complaint: Event date/time/location: Store #735 yesterday, July 21, 2019 at 6:45PM. I requested of Scott, who posed to be our "sales person", to purchase three(3) Chinese Algae Eater fish. Scott asked what size tank we had. For simplicity sake, I told Scott we had several tanks but that we would initially place the Chinese Algae Eaters in our 30-gallon (breeder) tank since they were so small. Scott left to consult with someone and upon returning stated that only one(1) Chinese Algae Eater could go in a 30-gallon tank because they can grow large. I told Scott that I appreciated his information but that we had several tanks and a lot of experience. I again requested the three(3) Chinese Algae Eater fish. Scott said without hesitation that he would not sell me the three(3) Chinese Algae Eater. I again responded that I appreciated his concern, but I was a paying customer and if I said I want three(3) Chinese Algae Eater fish, I should be able to make the purchase. Scott immediately stated that he would not sell me the fish. I asked for confirmation, and again, Scott stated again that he would not sell me the fish. I asked to speak to the manager. Scott said he was the manager. I asked Scott for his last name. Scott said he would not give me his last name. As you should already know, Store #735 has numerous complaints about management. Further to this, when I contacted Petco corporate Customer Service, they simply and foolishly routed my complaint back to Store #735 for resolution. Scott needs to be fired. The store manager at Store #735 needs to be placed on administrative review. DO NOT COME HERE FOR GROOMING. I have gotten my dogs groomed at this location several times with at least 3 different women and each time I have had the exact same experience. Extremely rude and unpleasant customer service- no effort to be friendly whatsoever and any issue that arises is made to feel as though it is your fault (even when it's clearly not). April tried to get my dog's grooming over with as quickly as possible and just shoved him back in my arms when she was done. The manager became extremely defensive when I tried informing her about my negative experience. She was borderline yelling at me about how "they are the best groomers on the east coast" and the issues that people have are always because of something they didn't understand on their part. I have not had one good experience with these groomers and after speaking to the manager, I can understand why. You can pretty much get the same quality grooming (or much better) anywhere else. read more

AVOID Petco Grooming. My girl yorkie dog was groomed 2 times there. I choose this store because its so convenient for me. The groomers were 30 minutes late, which made me late for work. On top of that they cut her ponytail off after I told them and it was noted not to cut her ponytail off. They also did not give my dog the style cut i asked for, which was a number 7 they gave her a number 5. I asked to speak to the grooming manager and all she did was apologize. I was not satisfied and according to the policy "your money back guaranteed if not satisfied." I only asked for a discount, none was given. No type of curtsey what so ever. I would not recommend taking your dog there to get groomed, especially if you have a specific way you want your pet groomed. They need to hire more experienced groomers. I will be disputing that charge! They get 1/5 stars from me. I didn't want to give them no stars. read more

AVOID PETCO VITAL CARE. I buy maybe $30/month of food and litter for my two cats, and when I was buying some things at Petco the clerk enthusiastically described some plan where you pay $21 a month, then you get back $15 every month and get savings on everything and $20 back for vet bills. It sounded like I would save $2 or $3 a month so I said yes. Big mistake. You don't just get back the $15 - for who knows what reason you have to log into their site or app and "transfer" it to your account, $5 at a time. The money you get back does not stay in your account; you have to use it within a couple of weeks or it disappears. It is very easy to wind up losing money on this "savings" program, which is unique in my experience. Clearly it's Petco versus their customers. I took my cat to the vet, came to the store and asked all the clerks how I could get my $20 back; no one knew and they said I should call customer service. I called customer service to cancel my membership and I was told I could not; it auto bills for a year and auto renews (they cancelled that part for me). The woman on the phone (who was very polite and apparently talks to a large number of unhappy customers) said she would be happy to explain the program to me, which totally misses the point. I don't want someone to explain their program; I want a program that does not require explaining. I spend twenty or thirty times as much at grocery stores as I do at Petco and I have never had to phone for an explanation; I just scan my card or phone app and I save money. It is impossible to lose money at the grocery store, which is easy to do at Petco. Whatever executive designed this seems to think that saving me $2 or $3 a month makes Petco as important to me as it is to him or her - it does not. Once my membership in this infernal program expires I am headed to Petsmart. read more

It is sad to see good businesses not be able to retain good employees. I had been coming to this location for close to 2 years as a very happy client. Brittany was a fantastic groomer and I had recommended her and this Petco location to many friends. I was sad to see her leave, because she was great with the dogs and had a truest customer centric attitude. I had such a positive experience here that after her departure I had stuck around to use another groomer (Jada). My experience with Jada was a complete 180 from my experience with Brittany. She was rude, clearly overworked (mentioned she was the only groomer they had for December), made comments regarding my dogs health she was clearly not trained to make. I can confidently say that I will not be going back to this establishment. It seems like this business is not staffed or trained to be able to provide the type of customer service we all want. I hope that they can address these issue and get back to the quality service they were once known for. read more

Overall PETCO's have a wide selection of items for nearly any legal pet you can own. Their stores are generally clean and well stocked. The store near me is not an exception to this. I am in here once a week to get crickets for my kids pet bearded dragon....geez he's getting big..... They work closely with the local humane society so there are always homeless kittens on display. The staff is friendly and seem to genuinely concerened about the well being of animals in general.. Basically good vibes here. read more

Went here to get a new harness for our growing puppy and was pleasantly surprised at the wide selection of pet products they have. Large store with lots of options for every type of animal. They were a little light on the live animals compared to other Petco's I've been in. The day we were there they seemed a little under-staffed as by the time we got in line there were five people in front of us and the cashier did not pick up the pace to move customers through quicker. They did call on the intercom to open another checkout lane but by the time the person arrived it was too little too late. I'll still gladly take the little extra wait (which was probably just a fluke, anyway) for the wide product selection. read more

This is my go to Petco store. It's well organized, I know where everything is, and there are always spots open in the small lot close to the store. Most recently I had a very pleasant experience shopping. I had a lot in my cart and am obviously 9 months pregnant and the store associate Sharon was very kind. She not only made sure I was utilizing all coupon offers (including a promotional one for feline greenies) but also said I could leave my cart by her register and pull my car up. She offered to help me as well but when I went back in there was a line so I didn't want to hold up other customers. Employees like Sharon are hard to find these days! My wife & I recently purchased a Petco gift card at this store. It was a gift for my sister who lives on the west coast. Turns out the card was not properly activated. We called the store and were told there was a problem with the card and someone would call us back to resolve the issue. They never did. So, we drove to the store only to be greeted with indifference and annoyance at having to deal with (in their words) another gift card problem. The store manager (Cathy) was in the store when my wife arrived at the store. Instead of talking with her directly about the problem she kept relaying things back & forth thru an intermediary. After 45 minutes of this total indifference to correct a problem with THEIR gift card, Cathy reluctantly came out to talk to with my wife. She gave my wife a replacement card and told her to call an 800 number the next day to see if it was actually activated. My wife refused to leave the store until she was sure that the replacement card was ok to use. We certainly did not want to send my sister a second card that was NOT activated. As it turns out the second card was not activated either! Clearly irritated and frustrated with these recurring gift card activation problems, the manager tried a 3rd card that finally showed up in their system as "activated". The Petco store manager never apologized for these problems, the lack of call backs, and a second store visit that took almost a hour to finally get this issue resolved. This was not our first Petco disappointment, next time we will definitely give chewy.com a try. Update: Cathy (Petco store manager) called and left a message to apologize for the issues my wife experienced at Petco and the gift card activation problems. read more

DO NOT COME HERE FOR GROOMING! even though i've always been hesitant about getting my dog groomed at chain stores, i made a grooming appt due to the convenience of the location. and boy, was it a mistake. first, they quoted me one price on the phone but presented me with a higher price when i actually got to the appointment. secondly, they told me on the phone that the appointment would take 3 hrs. when i dropped my dog off, they said it would take 4 hrs. and then when i called later to check up on him, they said it would take 1.5 more hours! when i complained, the receptionist gave me attitude and said my dog was giving the groomer a hard time. finally, she agreed to have him ready within 20 min. i understand that it takes time to groom a dog and that they're probably understaffed, but maybe it would help if you don't book more appointments than you can handle. these people are obviously more interested in your money than the well-being of your dog. i know im never bringing my dog here again. edit: WOW my mom just went to pick him up and they charged us EXTRA for "special handling" and "dematting" because they said he was giving them a hard time. no one informed me before performing these special procedures and even after talking to the manager, they didn't budge. seriously, this place is ridiculous. take your business elsewhere. read more

Took our dogs in for some light grooming work. There were two women there, one of which was already engaged with a dog. The other woman had trouble getting our first dog onto the table and needed to wait for the 2nd groomer to help--which is absolutely fine. We warned the groomer up front that our first dog is a bit scared of new things (she's young). The grooming part was fine, but when the groomer hit the pedal to let the table down (which moved with an abrupt WHUMP and a jerk), it scared the POO out of our dog who then tried to scramble off the table while still connected to the grooming arm. Our dog fell sideways off the table, hit her stomach on the side of the table and was nearly hanged off the grooming arm/leash. If a dog is new to you, you take extra pains to make sure it is stable on the table while the grooming table is going up and/or down. The groomer did NOT do this and she could have REALLY injured our dog. As it is, we know this will cause us trouble when we have to get our dog groomed again because this was such a frightening incident. (Which it would have been for ANY dog, confident or otherwise.) They were NOT busy, there was no rush, and I really saw this as lack of detail and attention to our dogs. We let them put our second dog up on the table but I watched like a hawk the whole time (we had stepped out of the immediate room for the first grooming because we thought our dog would settle down if we were out of direct view--but I still could see her)...and the nail trim the groomer did on our second dog was lousy. We came home and her toenails are still clicking on the tile. At least when the groomer went to lower the table for our second dog, she HELD ONTO THE DOG to stabilize her in case she got surprised by the table movement. Their prices were expensive and the service was definitely not worth it. read more

We took our dog Radley to get groomed at this Petco. It came highly recommended from a friend of ours, specifically the groomer, Kelly. Kelly is amazing. We had been hesitant to take Radley anywhere after a terrible experience we had at a PetSmart that resulted in a vet visit. But the experience at this Petco was entirely the opposite! Kelly was sweet and attentive and patient and just wonderful. She listened to the experience we had at PetSmart and she was very reassuring about the whole thing. She ensured us that Radley would get the very best treatment. She did a wonderful job making Radley feel comfortable and loved. We highly recommend Kelly!! Also, the rest of the staff was great, asking how they could assist and were very, very pleasant. We already have our next grooming appt booked! :) read more

I took my puppy here for the first time today for grooming. Our experience was great from the time i dropped her off until we picked her up. Brittany was very pleasant and welcoming. You could tell she was very knowledgeable and loved animals. My puppy is still nervous when going to the groomer but i felt very comfortable leaving her in Brittany's care. When we picked her up she let me know she spent extra time with her and she even let her follow her around while she was cleaning up. She made very helpful suggestions to get her used to coming there, even bringing her by just so she can say hi to her. I was very pleased overall and have already made our next appointment. read more

This place is awful! The first thing I see is a sign on the door asking customers to manually open and shut the doors because a cat escaped. Wow. And it went down hill from there. This is a super small location about 1/6 of other pet stores and this cat has evaded them for quite some time. I went to return something and didn't have a receipt, figured no problem I used my pals card how hard could this be. Was greeted harshly by a woman saying "she will get to you" come to figure out it was the store manager. Waited for the cashier and the woman ignored everything I had to say and did a no receipt return, which, obviously goes off of the cheaper price. I explained to her I could show her the transaction through my phone and she ignored me. I took my item and walked away calling customer service hoping to get a virtual receipt. If anyone calls for help through the Petco customer service number they are extremely helpful and professional. I handed my phone to the woman, Kim, and she b***hed at the representative and also the manager Margaret in front of me and a line of a few people. Really this place could take some Petco customer service tips from the Columbia location and the online help desk. I never had a problem before but these people were obviously miserable to people though pleasant to my dogs. read more
