If I could give their grooming department in Cary a ZERO I would. I completely understand why they did not have a grooming department there for a very long time. Their groomers are horrible. They seem to be nice with NO EXPERIENCE. The manager at the Cary, NC location was the one who groomed both of my dogs and it was terrible. This is after me spending over $200. In December, I took both of my dogs to be groomed. When I picked them up, I wasn't able to take a really good look at them until I got home. They had not cut the dogs underbelly or their private areas in the back. They did cut the hair in or around their ears and one of my dogs faces hadn't been cleaned under his chin. They missed cutting their toenails. When I called back to let them know, they suggested I bring them back for grooming. Because I had to go out of town I was not able to take the dogs back immediately for them to clean up the areas that they had not taken care of. When I came back from out of the country, I called them just to get a refund. I was told it was too late and I could not get a refund. This comes off the back of me sending them pictures and showing them the terrible job that they had done. I even called customer service twice and was told that someone would respond back within 24 to 48 hours. It has already been over a month and no one has followed up. I should have known it was going to be a bad experience when I took them in a month earlier to get their nails clipped and one of the groomers cut too far and caused my dog to bleed. This place is very close to my home, but, unfortunately, my dog feel very ill just after the grooming service and we had to take him to the Vet Emergency Room with a huge expense. I do not recommend the hygiene standard of this place based on what happened. read more

We did a pop up field trip here and it was so much fun! The kiddos enjoyed seeing and learning about all the animals they had there. I've been to several petco's and they don't have all the animals they have here. We saw lots of fish, birds, reptiles and rodents. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They allowed us to see the ferrets and birds up close. We also gifted each student with a new fish! read more

This place is a great place.I shop all the time for my puppies and bread dragon at this location and all the employees expected Arianna(the general manager)as she claims when nobody ever ask was very impolite. MY EXPERIENCE TODAY WAS AWFUL AND HERE IS WHY .WHEN I FIRST WALK IN NORMAL AND I WAITED IN LINE NO MORE THAN 3-4 mins BUT WHEN IT CAME TO MY TURN I SMILED AND SHE DIDNT WHICH IS OKAY CAUSE WERE HUMANS BUT ANWAYS I ASK FOR 30 CRICKETS. NOW THE PROBES IS WHEN I WAITED FOR HER TO HAND ME MY Receipt paper.She decided to slap it on the counter so now I'm standing there looking dumb and so I didn't say anything but when I went to go watch her put crickets in the bag I simply said hey could you make sure there no dead ones because you guys have be giving me dead crickets sometimes and my dragon won't eat it unless it alive or I use the tool to feed it to him ...And so she turns around blank stare and stated "I'm the general manager and the crickets no dead if they are they replace them "And slammed the cricket on the counter and walk away.When I say I never had an experience like this I'm fr like I feel like I didn't deserve especially with me spending as much as I do in the place and I'm always friendly ... I think a way to fix the issue is to is to let her know that a title doesn't meaning anything when your mistreating people to have some respect and treat people with respect especially if they company is trusting you to keep customers happy and pets . WARNING - Pleasedon't take your kids here. I took my kids to Petco WestCary yesterday and was disappointed to see the condition of the birds and pets there. Dead fishes filled in the fish tanks and stuck to the airpump, hamsters looking sick and bird enclosures so dirty. My kids are not so excited about having a pet fish anymore. ​Note I visited the store last month too and it was no different. First of all, the prices they advertise as "Starting at" are way below what they actually charge you and you don't find out what they're charging you until you drop your dog off and finally you don't get an answer as to why it's more!! Then, for what you get from these inexperienced groomers, it's not worth it. Go to a private groomer for a bath or cut, I let them trim my dogs nails, but even that is overpriced. read more

They have constantly botched and canceled grooming appointments for my dog for different reasons, none of which are at my fault. Their "vaccination" process is extremely flawed as it is supposed to be express, but you will be waiting in line over an hour around a bunch of other guests and animals, crowding the entire store. Not to mention, the vets will move with no sense of urgency, and will purposely take long if they see you are becoming impatient. I've been coming to this petco location since they opened and never have had a bad experience. But today was a different story, this was my first visit since I guess they got a new manager. From the second I even entered the door I was given unnecessary attitude. I was making the same purchase I always do while price matching the online order. this time I wasn't able to make that price match and she proceeded to tell me I've never been able to do that much less at this location. False, this is the SAME order I always make at the SAME location I always go to. I ended up walking out with nothing because the service was that bad. So disappointing. I went to take my dog to get his nails clipped and the rabies shot. Unfortunately, they don't give shots so I will have to go elsewhere, however the sales person was extremely helpful in suggesting places I could go or another time to come back when they offer their rabies clinic one a month. (apparently I just missed it). I've been here before for grooming services and have been pleased with the results and especially the fact that they got my dog in without an appointment even though they were busy. I ordered a cone for in-store pickup that I had already been charged for. The email said it was ready to pick up anytime and that the store was open until 8pm. I needed the cone that day in order to pick up my dog from the vet who just had surgery that day. I arrived at 6:15pm and 3 employees were locking up the front-door. I told them their email and sign said they are open until 8 but they said they were closing anyway. I told them all I needed was to pick up something I had already paid for so that I could get my dog. Despite the fact that it would've taken them less than a minute to go back in and hand me me stuff they refused. Then one of them, Ryan, told me to get the f*** out. Over my dog's life time I have probably spent a couple grand at that store and would've probably spent at least that in the future; however thanks to Ryan, Petco will never get another dime of my money. I demanded a refund for my order and have now switched to PetSmart going forward since they actually stay open when they say they are open and they don't cuss out their customers. read more

This is the Petco to go to. Jeffery is grooming is awesome with my pup. My dog was clipped too close on his nails at a different location and has been freaked at the site of a groomer ever since. However, Jeffery worked his magic today and managed to keep him calm, while getting all nails trimmed and buffed. The rest of the associates are super helpful and nice (cashier offered to help me out since I had 25 lbs of food plus a 55 lb hound with me). I just wanted to say thank you to Ashley for always being so great with my dog. I called to make an appointment but she was booked up for the week, so I took my dog to the competition instead and we just didn't get the same treatment at all. Ashley is always careful and it's obvious she takes care of my dog when I leave him. I never worry about him when he's with you guys and he always comes home looking and smelling so clean and handsome with his bandanas (pictured) and I'm less than impressed with what we got from the competition yesterday. We'll definitely be coming back to Ashley when Genghis is due again. I'd also like to thank Debbie, the manager, for reaching back out to me and caring about Genghis and his treatment, even from another facility. The care that goes into taking care of these dogs is obvious and I don't think I'll ever trust anyone with my dog as much as I trust this facility. I wish I could give more than 5 stars! read more

I bring my dogs, Dreyfus and Tina, to Petco to be groomed and will be a regular customer as long as Ashley is working as a groomer there! Her customer service is impeccable, and you can tell she truly cares for the animals she grooms. I don't have fancy dogs; I have a geriatric Pitbull mix who is dog aggressive and a three-legged lab. When I've taken them other places I've felt as though they were dismissed and not given as much attention. Not with Ashley! She remembers my dogs, their quirks, and her attention and affection for them is genuine. You can tell she takes her job seriously and cares about being a good groomer and about the welfare of the animals in her charge. When I go and pick them up they are happy, calm (a small miracle in itself), and CLEAN! I'm so happy to pick them up and so happy to know they were in Ashley's care while I was gone! read more

After spending $2354.00 in the last 2 years on a goldfish a new employee told me I had excessive returns. The returns tonite were for a ear medication for my dog, an herbal treatment for the fish that did nothing and seaweed for a saltwater fish. I do not have a saltwater fish but they certainly advised me to get it. The shift leader is "Debbie".. I have been incorrectly advised more than given relevant information. Was out shopping with my girlfriend today for a few things for our animals and to get a new betta fish for the apartment. Was a little bothered that the staff there clearly doesn't care about the 6 foot social distancing rule as we were looking at some fish and were cut off by her restocking cart without saying excuse me and she stood inches from us while we tried to shop. We then backed away and waited for her to move so we could continue shopping. Shortly after the two girls at the front register were talking to each other very loudly and expressed how they hate animals and they hate working there and they don't know why they even have a job there. This is not the attitude I would expect from someone working at a pet store who is supposed to "love" animals. Will not be going back to this store. Also. I tried to call Petco this afternoon and the first time it rang 22 times no answer, the second time I tried the grooming, it rang 15 times, I tried again the store number no answer. I got in my car and asked to talk the manager. I asked her why no one would answer she said sorry! I said why didn't want that I wanted to know the telephone policy. She said you told me not to say anything so .....She pointed to the door! This is the 4th manager in this store obviously there is a problem. We attended a Petco/Vetco vaccination clinic today staring at 1:30PM. The Vetco people pulled in at 1:15 right behind us and didn't get out of their van until 1:30, when the clinic was to begin! It took them 15 minutes to set up, now being 1:45. We were fifth in line, waited an hour, only to hear when it was our turn that they did NOT have enough flu vaccine for our two dogs. DO NOT use them, they are slow, ineffective, and their customer service is worse than poor. I called the 800 number to speak to a rep and all Michelle could do was apologize. Ashley in the grooming area is always so kind and helpful. My pup, Clara, just adores her and she does a great job on her cut (even when Clara gets a bit squirmy). When I'm in need of an urgent bath or trim for Clara, Ashley does a great job squeezing her in. There is no other place I'd take my pup for grooming services. read more

I love this store. The people working there clearly love animals and love helping others take care of theirs. They offer great customer service and take the time to make people feel special. The groomers are passionate and careful, and do a great job. I do see an old negative review about grooming on here, but it is years old and there are different groomers, so I won't let that stop me from trusting them with my dogs. Bad experience, not worth the money! I brought my dog to Petco for bath and brushing. Man who was helping us couldn't care less, i believe his name is Justin. He literally did bare minimum. I was specific that I want to have everything done- nails, ears, anal glands. Normal service as it is. Plus I paid extra for nail brushing! When I picked up my dog he never touched his ears, as they were still dirty, he never touched his anal glands and his nails are not brushed as well as it could be. He looked like I am bothering him when I asked if he is going to do all those things! I am so angry, because now I have to go somewhere else and pay again for something I already paid for. Return Dead Pets to the Store! Had to rush my child's parakeet to the vet six days after purchase. It died, and the vet report stated "I recommend contacting the pet store to let them know what happened and to watch for respiratory signs in their other birds" . I left the body with the vet, not wanting to further upset my child. When I went back to Petco I was asked what I had "done" to the bird. Did I expose it to fumes, etc. NO "sorry for your loss". NO offer of refund. I was told that I should have brought the sick bird to Petco first rather than going directly to the vet, even though it was clearly an emergency. I was also told that they would not offer a refund without the bird carcass. Live and learn folks, save those pet carcasses. Also, when I went back to the store, two separate employees mistakenly said that I had called about the dead bird. I had not, which indicates to me another customer had recently contacted them about a bird death. Needless to say I will avoid this Petco in the future. The staff could not have been more callous and condescending. The woman kept referring to me as "love". I definitely did not feel the love. read more

We decided to get a fish tank and fish for our girls and I've been so impressed with the customer service at this Petco! They have been very helpful and knowledgeable. We have been to the store several times while setting up our tank and every employee has taken the time to answer our questions and talk with us in length about the best way to care for our fish. :) read more
