I had my…read morefirst issue here over the weekend and was able to see firsthand how little they value customers and care about the dogs. My dog was severely injured and almost lost her eye due to negligence on their end. After speaking with the animal hospital I was advised that MANY dogs come to the hospital with a variety of injuries and that CO Dog Academy is not transparent when injuries occur. The Kennel is known as having a "sketchy" reputation and the fact they don't have cameras is a huge red flag. Pat the owner was incredibly combative with me when I asked him to pay for the vet bill. He offered $500 and I asked how he came up with that amount when the cost of treatment was triple that amount. He said I had no proof they were responsible. What I believe happened is that the old rusty door that leads to the outside kennel fell and trapped my dog by her neck (they found grease all over her). As a result, eye proptosis occurred (very painful injury where the eye pops out) I'm so disappointed with how CO Dog Academy handled this matter. I'll Post pics on yelp. Please do not risk taking your dog here.

She was a rehome situation and had been trained to use a liter box in her crate. Meghan from Training Wheels helped me train Lemon to go outside and to LOVE her crate as a safe place and not soil it. Additionally, she helped me train Lemon to be totally focused on me, even with distractions. She sits when asked, she looks to me for approval and consent, and comes when called, no matter what. She is the goodest girl now - not that she wasn't before - she is just so much better now. All of this training was done with a lot of knowledge and a lot of love from Training Wheels. I also use Training Wheels for boarding Lemon. She gets so much positive attention and interaction. I was a bit hesitant at first because there are a lot of big dogs, but the times that I have boarded her, there have been dogs her size to play with and the bigger dogs play in a different area. For sleeping, she gets her own area (with door) with plenty of space for her bed and toys and then an area for going potty, should she need to in the night (Italian Greyhounds have hamster bladders, haha). The building where she sleeps and takes naps is temperature controlled and she is surrounded by other dogs in their areas, so is never alone. There are multiple outside play areas - and they designate which areas are for which size dog, and the dogs are always supervised. Training Wheels staff are always with the dogs and interacting with the dogs. They send pics of my happy dog playing outside and running and having just the best time. I feel that my tiny dog Lemon is very safe and happy there. I can't recommend Training Wheels enough for both training and boarding. Lemon is SO well taken care of and loved.

Claudia is amazing! If you're looking for a dog trainer who will help you build a stronger…read morerelationship and shared communication / language with your dog, look no further. What makes Claudia special as a trainer is that she's truly positive reinforcement, not mixed positive and punishment which is just confusing for dogs. Also, she isn't your dog's trainer, she's YOUR trainer - teaching you how to build a next level relationship with your doggie. We have a 7lb rescue who needed to learn how to safely interact with the world. We started by prioritizing basics, like sit, lay down, come, leave it, etc. Our original plan was to just get the basics covered - our dog is so little we wanted to ensure his safety. I had done a good amount of research and watch videos online of how to train these commands and thought I would take it as far as I could on my own before bringing in a trainer to cover any gaps. Well once we brought in Claudia my only regret was not bringing her in from the very start. We learned so much about how to work with our dog, we learned much faster, and had a lot of fun in the process. We ended up working with Claudia for more sessions only because what we learned improved our relationship with our dog so much and was so rewarding for all of us that we wanted to keeping working on more fun training. And because we learned the fundamentals so well from Claudia, we've since been able to train our dog on even more things entirely on our own (like "boop" nose to nose touch). This is due to the foundational understanding that Claudia taught us of how to shape new skills. Claudia has also come to our aid in a couple semi-emergency situations, such as when we started fostering a dog that had been rescued from the streets and was therefore very reactive and resource guarding. She helped us first prioritize safety and well-being for both our foster dog and resident dog, then followed up with how to work on our foster dog's behaviors to help her get adopted successfully. If not for Claudia in that situation we might have needed to return our foster to the rescue - but instead we were equipped to handle a whole new set of challenging behaviors and set our foster dog up for a good life with a family.

I thought long and hard before making my decision to write this review. It's something I've…read moredreaded, but I can't remain silent any longer. Maureen is a perfect candidate for the worst dog "trainer" award in Broomfield if not all of Colorado. Where do I start? I reached out to her a month ago to inquire about her services and to get some help with training for my now 4-month old mini-golden doodle: Muffin. I read her reviews and went over her website and decided to give her a try. I previously had a poor experience with another dog trainer that focused on negative reinforcement. Maureen appeared kind and understanding on the phone. She seemed to understand what I was wanting to accomplish. Prior to reaching out to Maureen, I educated myself on the basics of training through YouTube videos and free apps. I'm a competent person and could easily train my dog on my own, but I'd rather have a professional with me in person for real-time learning. FIRST VISIT: Maureen arrived at my home for the first session and the majority of the visit was spent engaging in un-related small talk. She "taught" me a few things that were common knowledge. She was friendly, but it almost seemed like a fake kind of friendliness. She came off as domineering and a "know-it all." After the visit, I asked Maureen if we could put together some type of roadmap or plan of what to work on in the next session and beyond. She stated to me that it wasn't possible). She continued to "educate" me on stuff that I already knew and sent me links and videos to information that I could have also easily found on my own. SECOND VISIT: Reluctantly, I had her over for another session to see if the experience would improve (it didn't). We, again, spent 90% of the session chatting about nothing. Towards the end of the session, she introduced a puzzle toy and how to use it to help slow down the puppy's eating and stimulate her mind. She left the toy for us to use until the next session. Still disappointed, I reached out to her again to try and reinforce what I would like to accomplish to which she replied: I've already shown you how to handle these situations that you're asking for help with learning. If she did, why would I have been asking again? ------ Next came the scheduling issues for the final session (after she was already paid upfront of course). I informed her of the times I was available and each time she continued to refer to her other clients and being booked up as if I wasn't as important as the other people she was working with. Acting as though it was a burden for her to work around MY schedule. I'm the client here and you're working for me, not the other way around. When I shared my feelings with Maureen about the way she was training my puppy or lack thereof, she tried turning things around on me to make it seem as though I was the problem. Saying things such as she heard from other people she's talked to that it appears like I'm not wanting to nurture my puppy's baby brain and expecting results right away. None of this I ever said to her or expressed. I made it clear to Maureen from the start that I wanted hands-on training. You can't teach someone through talking. FINAL SESSION (never happened): I had one session remaining and decided to end our relationship at this point. I asked for a refund and she flat out refused (no surprise) and referred me back to the contract that was signed. I then told her I would leave her puzzle toy on my porch for her to come and get. She said that wouldn't work for HER and I would need to drop it off at the pet store behind my home. Again, further inconveniencing me. She then threatened me that if there was any damage I would be charged and she sent me a Venmo request for $50 despite not even having received the toy back! It takes a special person to want to become a dog trainer and Maureen isn't one of those people. It seems she is more focused on getting her money rather than actually caring about the work she is doing. It's a shame that I wasted $328 of my hard-earned money on this woman's poor excuse of dog training business. It makes me wonder what her conscience is like if she has no problem keeping $163 for my final session that was never completed. Perhaps she knew what she was doing all along. Make the experience as bad as possible, hide behind the contract of no refunds, and then the client will be so upset they don't bother having her come over again for their remaining session(s). I regret not paying her via electronic means so I could dispute the payment. Furthermore, the experience with her was so awful that I shared it with my vet. It turns out Maureen was there not too long ago trying to get even more clients. Luckily the vet I use is awesome and saw right through her facade. I praise God that I have finally found a reputable and reliable trainer for my baby girl and this nightmare with Maureen is behind me.

I have three young kids and I don't need more chaos. I was willing to put in allll the work to have a well trained dog but needed someone to tell me the right things to do. Jaci is so helpful and knowledgeable in her training. I love that she comes to our home, both because it's easier for our family but also because I think it helps our dog retain information if she's learning it in her home environment. I also really love that the training is personalized to our dog, family, and lifestyle. For instance, our doodle is 50 lbs and my four year old weighs 24 lbs. Jaci helped us work with my daughter and the dog so that my daughter was giving commands and the dog would understand that even though my daughter is smaller, she is above the dog in the pecking order of our family pack. Our dog learned it was her job to watch herself around our daughter so she wouldn't bump her and accidentally knock her down. I appreciate that Jaci explains the "dog psychology" to us because then the behaviors and training make so much sense! Another thing I love is that I can text or call Jaci anytime I have questions or something pops up in between our sessions. She is an amazing resource. We haven't completed the training yet (our puppy is now 8 months), but we get compliments all the time on how calm and well behaved she is. All our training and work with Jaci is really paying off.
