We have been taking our pup here for years for her grooms and are incredibly happy with the service and her cut/care every time! This week, Selena was our groomer and she was fantastic. We have a very nervous, skittish little rescue pup and she stopped shaking as soon as we passed her to Selena. Upon picking her up, Selena was almost finished and we got to peek in and see how carefully and lovingly she was finishing up the cut. Before I start this review, it needs to be set up properly. This location is at 8031 Wadsworth Blvd, and I live at the 1400 block of Wewatta across the street from the Ball Center in LoDo. So, every few weeks, I take a road trip to get my dog groomed here. And along the way, I pass a lot of other locations that could it do it. But, I make the trip because of four letters: Cora. She makes getting my fur baby groomed a unique, special, memorable, and one-of-a-kind experience. I have about twenty more positive adjectives I could use to continue explaining the point, but even that would not do. I have a small dog, Sophie, who is precious, but a lot of work. Additionally, she's a senior. But, most importantly, she's my world. I'm the pet parent people joke about because I treat her like a child. And who I choose to trust with my girl when I'm not around is a serious business. When it comes to grooming, that list has one name on it. You guessed it, Cora. With her, I know that Sophie will be safe and loved. And every time I pick her up, she looks so pretty and smells so good. That means she gets a lot of attention, which she loves. As for me, it is always a 10/10 on communication about what I need to be done for her groom. It is rare and refreshing to meet someone who is the best at their craft. Cora is friendly, engaged, passionate about her work and the animals, and one of the most important people in my dog's life. So much so that she is a necessity. I have no idea what we would do without her. I'm so grateful and happy to have access to Cora for Sophie's care that I'm even joyful about being in traffic because that car ride means my baby is about to get the best. read more

Grooming is WAY overpriced and the general manager threatened to take my dogs to an emergency vet out of spite. Read this before getting your dog groomed here. I'd been going to Nicole for grooming for almost three years. I was moving last week and brought my dogs in because they needed a grooming, but also to get them out of the house while I had movers inside my home. Admittedly, I was late for drop off, and I have my suspicions that lead to Nicole trying to get out of grooming one of my dogs. I got a call about 20 mins after dropping them off from Nicole. She said they had their vet check one of my dogs out and the vet thought he was stoned because his eyes were dilated, that he "may have gotten into something". I assured Nicole that that's just what he looks like . She called my vet to verify and I did not hear back. So I called my vet and they said Petco had in fact called, we had a conversation about what was going on, and I then called Petco back and asked to have Nicole return my call. Instead of Nicole calling me back, the general manager (Matteo I think?) called me. Matteo immediately escalated the situation and demanded I come get my dog. I explained I couldn't, that I was moving, that the dog was fine, that I had spoken with my vet and asked him to call my vet back to explain why his eyes were dilated, all the while Matteo yelled over me. This spiraled into 10 minutes of arguing because he does not have the temperament of a manager and felt the need to talk over me instead of finding a solution for a loyal, repeat customer that had never caused an issue previously. But Matteo is the kind of guy that is way too proud of managing something (anything), the kind of guy who doesn't run anything in his own house so he has to boss around anyone he can in public, you know, the kind of guy that's probably not very blessed in certain areas. He went as far as to threaten to take my dogs to an emergency vet even though I explained I was in the middle of moving so I couldn't come right then and that I had been a client of theirs for YEARS. He didn't give a s***, mostly I think because I hurt his poor wittle feelings by not immediately submitting to his authority . I could continue to rip on baby Matteo, but let's talk about what matters to you. THEY ARE SO OVERPRICED. Now that I've taken my dogs to another groomer I can attest to this. Nicole did a solid job but I just found a local groomer that cost about 50% less. I paid roughly $250 for both dogs at Petco, I was all in with tip for $125 at a local groomer. And she actually did a better job than Nicole, both of my dogs looked noticeably better for half the price -- what a deal . I was even able to get my two dogs booked just a few days after I called the new groomer, Petco was always booked out for weeks. The new groomer I found also doesn't have the same liability issues of a large corporation, meaning no threats to take my dogs to the vet out of spite/pride/generally being a dimwit etc. Do your due diligence and shop around for a local groomer, Petco is NOT WORTH THE COST. I could've saved THOUSANDS of dollars over the years if I had just called around. I also would've saved myself a headache . The cherry on top of all of this is, as I already knew, MY DOG WAS FINE. He was completely normal when I picked him up. My vet even laughed at Petco when I told them what happened, dogs get scared when they go to get groomed, they don't act like their normal selves and their eyes can get dilated when they're nervous. The vet as this Petco shouldn't have a job as they are clearly a moron, and you should be nervous leaving your pet in their care given that you sign a waiver to give them authority over your pet during grooming. On top of that, the GM having such a short fuse, not being customer focused, and looking out for the company and not you or your pet as their clients, should steer you away from giving them your business. Matteo, good luck being stuck as a GM of a Petco in Arvada until you get old. You've peaked in a store that smells like shit, dear boy. read more

Every time I come here it's a wonderful experience. However I decided to use their curbside pickup. When I got there I called and they said they would be right out. However this lady came out with my order. Im sorry I don't remember her name, but she went back inside with my order not even giving me my order. Me and my girlfriend went to this Petco to buy some dog cbd treats and toys, as well as a water jug for our dogs. And Ryan the worker was so nice and helpful and told us about how pumpkin can help with one of our dogs and she was generally a very good person. She even helped and told us about the Petco total care and gave us a pamphlet while describing how it works and how cheap it was and that it would be good for us. The dog trainer we were working with sold us the continuing class and then went MIA. We were told by her to wait until she had other dogs in the class-during that wait time (2 months) we lost our ability to get a refund on the classes. The first time we came back in they said they didn't have a trainer for the class we wanted but we could get a refund at any time if we brought the paperwork. Once we did (almost 5 months after purchase) we were told that there was no way to refund. While I understand policy and rules, I felt the manager was unable to understand my perspective and was immediately defensive/accusatory and told me I was wrong several times about the chain of events that happened. It was a negative experience. A lot of back and forth with corporate, the employees, and the manager all giving me conflicting information. Our only option is to take the classes now, which have been delayed again (understandably) until after the covid stay at home order is over. Not worth the stress involved when we were just trying to do something fun with our pup. Ill update with a better review after the classes if things go well, but at this point I think one star is more than enough. read more

So after using kings and cleaning up after myself, I went back to Petsmart & bought my supplies. This will be my last time spending a penny in your store. I'll go across the street to a mom & pop store, sure I'll probably pay more, but they have a restroom if I need. Your company needs to stop lumping everyone as a homeless, drug user, shop lifter.... What a terribly unprofessional fish salesman. Today my family tried to purchase two $0.31 comet goldfish to add to my 5 gallon aquarium and we were denied by the salesperson? He said our tank wasn't an appropriate size? The tank was purchased at this location and has filtration and a heater. Ummm, I buy goldfish here frequently for my outdoor pond so my pet ducks can eat them, and that is fine? Who is this person to deny us a purchase of a goldfish. DO NOT BUY FISH HERE! I purchased a nuber of fish at this establishment and within 3 days lost some of them. Petco has a 30 day grantee on fish with a water sample. Bringing in a water sample their test strip inticated my nitrates where border line elevated and would not replace the fish. I did my own testing with a more accurate liquid chemical drop test and it showed nitrates in the lower range. The store manager Kyle argued with me about these results , said I didn't do a 14 day quarantine and put too many fish in at once. Well my 55 gallon had 6 previous fish and I added another 25 all small fish. Never mind the fact that the store receives shipments of fish that they do not quarantine and they dump way more than that number in their small 10 gallon tanks. Kyle is simply using any excuse he can come up with to not honor the store policy. read more

Omar in the fish section is awesome. If time and other customers weren't a factor, he could talk fish all day long. He was excited for me for getting a bigger fish tank for Christmas, even though it was from a competitor. As he puts it, it only matters how they (or anyone, really) take care of their fish. Which is why I bought the tank at the other place, but the fish from here. There are a ton of tanks and lots of information written on them, which is great. Even thought this location is out of my way, I don't mind making the trip. Also, if you're having trouble finding it, it's attached to the king Soopers to the north. It looks small from the outside but it's a pretty decently sized location. read more

I live about 20 minutes across town and this is my favorite Petco to visit. The store is clean, well lit with a nice selection of all pet items (we have dogs, a cat, and fish and have never had issues finding anything) The aquatics team is amazing and very well knowledgeable! The tanks are always clean and fish always are lively! I first spoke with Chera Kee and she helped us set up a small 10 gallon tank with the right chemicals in order for it to cycle. Recently, August has been helping us get our water treated correctly and even gave us advice on how to help our goldfish who has been sick recently. August even referenced a personal fish book that he brought from home! I will definitely be back in to the store for all my pet needs! Thanks aquatics team!! :) read more

I have to say this store is great. I take my dog to the groomers there and been extremely happy with all the groomers there they take good care of him and he looks amazing every-time I pick him up. Today I wish I would have gotten her name but she is a manager there had glasses but she helped me get my vital care back on track and even helped me call customer care so they could could get my account fixed. She definitely went above and beyond to help me so I could use my coupon she needs to be a trainer or something or at least come to my work and shower managers this is how you help people. I got my pup groomed here and all I can say is that is never happening again. I paid for them to use the furminator and when my pup came home she was still shedding a ton. Plus, the inside of her ear became very red and inflamed the next day and after taking her to the vet we found out she had developed an ear yeast infection which is a result of trapped water. I paid $100 for my dog to essentially just get washed and get an infection. I was so disappointed. The girls there were very nice and my pup was done in under two hours which was nice but it wasn't worth the money or subsequent vet visit which cost more money. read more

Called PetCo grooming a few days in advance to get my Pug in. Over the phone, after going through the packages, i chose the basic package at around $25. I got to the appointment and learned that the package does not include brushing my dogs teeth. The groomer said it was $12 to add that service. She then said this package (pointing to a package) cost $33 dollars and included the teeth brushing. So, I agreed to that package, thinking I'd save a few bucks!! I also said I'd like the desheding shampoo for $6. i figured a total cost under $40 for the service. I go pick up my pup, and the total cost was almost $80! The grommer changed me for the original $25 package and the ADD-ON package of $33, not a stand-alone package. So I paid $33 for teeth brushing!! This groomer is highly highly unethical and a flat-out con artist! Wish I would remember her name (petite blond scammer)! Use caution if you use this service at this location. They will rob you!! They sure got me because I love my pup!!! read more

I braved getting my dogs nails clipped somewhere other than her vet and I will forever regret it. The groomer, Liz, completely broke my baby's nails in half. She can barley walk and is crying in pain. Im beyond upset and heartbroken. Don't take your pets to a low cost groomer unless you want low cost results, lesson learned. read more

At 5 pm on June 17th, the corpulent fella that works in the lizard section was working on his day off. How would I know? I was passing by. This isn't my usual pet store. I was looking for new guppies. I didn't see any female guppies. I was looking for them I noticed some of the males had "tail droop" (can be high ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites in the water or underlying diseases, such as Scoliosis and Tuberculosis) I waited for over 40 minutes while I watched the lizard guy sit on product that was stacked in the isle waiting for shelve stocking. He saw me right away. He was talking to some people about Lizards. At about 20 minutes he asked me if I need something, I said Id like to buy some fish. He said OK. Called for help and went back to the lizards. After another 20 minutes, I asked he if he called for help and he yelled "I'm here working on my day off!" He was upset, but not so much to as to actually stand up. As I walked through the store, it became apparent that no one was not really in charge. I left and looked for a manager. There wasn't one. The woman I talked to said that they were all 'kind of' managers on duty. I should have stuck with "Pet Supplies Plus," 15530 W 64th Ave Unit Q, where they appreciate your business. read more

The employees are always nice and try to be helpful. I take my dog every time, and they always offer him treats, (although he won't accept treats from any stranger!). They have a wide variety of food, sometimes there's like 15% off or so on certain food brands. I will say that sometimes they tend to run out of certain things, but it's all good. We called when we arrived to let them know we were there. 30 minutes later we received a text message that we had missed our appointment. My mother went into the store and said that we had been waiting this hole time and that we called when arrived. They said that we spoke to the call center and they does not know how the stores work. Horrible! I told the groomer I did not want my dogs hair cut too short. We discussed the length and I showed her on the hair chart the length that I wanted. I left my sheepadoodle with her and when I returned his hair was cut like a poodle. There were razor burns all over his feet as well as his butt. Great location, friendly customer service. If you are shopping for Saltwater fish or corals, I wouldn't consider buying delicate products for Salt water at this location. I've been in the Salt water fish/ Coral hobbie for over 7 years now, and I've never had a fish I couldn't revive. However, when I purchased a Trigger fish from this location all my experience went down the drain... Like a normal purchase with exotic fish, I treated the friendly Trigger fish before putting it into my 120 gallon fish/ coral aquarium. Once the Trigger Fish was in the Aquarium, it settled in smoothly..the only problem was that the Ich that was on the Trigger fish was not visible, which means the Trigger fish was beyond stage one with the #Ich infection.. Needless to say it infected my $240.00 Fowleri Tang, and yes! I was pissed because my #FowleriTang died after trying to treat in a side tank. "Keep in mind this Fowleri tang was super hardy and it survived a drive from California to Colorado." So, a $47.00 fish at the Wadsworth Blvd #Petco cost me $240.00! We have been customers of this PetCo for the grooming of our 3 dogs for more than 4 years and have been thrilled. We had a standing weekly appointment for 2 of our dogs is how much we loved them. Unfortunately, they have recently had a change of management. They now upcharge all standard services so that you pay more. The store manager also threatened to weigh our dogs to make sure they were being charged correctly. Not what I would refer to as customer service. Can't say I have ever experienced someone treat a customer this way, let alone the store manager. I hate to see one person ruin the reputation for an entire store, but this is unfortunately the case. SUPER CLEAN FISH TANKS!!! This is the absolute cleanest chain pet store I have ever been to in my entire life! It is the ONLY chain pet store that I've ever seen with each fish tank pristinely clean. This store has the best staff one could hope for! On numerous occasions they have gone above and beyond the Call of Duty to take care of us as valued customers. They are always friendly, always upbeat and always willing to go out of their way to take care of you the best they can period I've never walked away with ill advice and have always walked out of their store with a smile on my face and it willingness to return as soon as possible just to get some more of the friendliness that they lay on you! We recently had plans to move three and a half hours away and I would have been willing to make a monthly drive to this particular location just to receive the level of service that we have always received from them! The grooming department has been pretty amazing up until now. Maricela did a great job on our dogs(5starsforher!). There was a price discrepancy when we checked out. It was much higher than normal and we weren't aware of this before checkout. Jozie came up to the front. She told us she was the MOD not the groomer so she didn't know why we were asking her...Jozie was aggressive and completely unprofessional. She tried grabbing the receipt out of my hand multiple times while I was holding my dogs. Hands down the worst customer service experience I have dealt with. I have really had only one bad experience here of 1,000 visits! It's a really clean, organized store. I came in for a specific saltwater fish and GREG in the fish department searched for it longer than any normal employee would even bother. Thanks!!:) Another visit, I needed dog food but they only had the medium sized bag, so the female manager found a very suitable way to get me the amount of dog food I needed for the same price per pound. I argued a bit because I thought the math was wrong, and she responded by kindly and politely explaining the math to me until I understood and agreed on the price. So patient, although I was being a hassle! The only bad experience I have ever had there in about a year is one day one of the younger cashier girls was somewhat rude and dismissive to me. That's it. I really can't complain! Overall breakdown- Staff is knowledgeable in their departments, staff is friendly and excited to help solve my problems, service is (usually) very quick, prices are AWESOME as long as you're a PALS member. read more

I am amazed how clean the tanks are, I bought a fish tank about a month ago and I'm waiting to pick fish and get more educated I been to many pet stores including pet smart and I noticed the difference on how clean the fish are and how happy the animals are.
