    Dying baby bearded dragon
    Yesenia A.

I was devastated when I saw the condition of the baby bearded dragon at Petco. He had very labored breathing, skinny, and hardly opened his eyes; he was clearly dying. Additionally, I found a betta fish on the shelf inside the bag they use to transport the fish, meaning he had minimal oxygen and hadn't been given any food since he arrived. We purchased the betta just to save him from that plastic bag. When we went to the register to pay, a young Hispanic girl appeared shocked and hurt, quickly turning to her coworker to bring it to her attention. However, the blonde coworker rolled her eyes and ignored her. I was very upset, noticing her lack of empathy and urgency towards the animal. But seriously, what is going on here? It's clear that these poor animals are not being cared for properly; it seems they only care about getting rid of them. Whether they leave in a trash bag or with someone, they simply DO NOT CARE.

We are new pet owners and I am so grateful for the helpful staff at my local Petco. Every time we have been in we are greeted by the friendly staff and they are very helpful. They signed us up for a loyalty program to receive coupons and discounts as we continue to shop. Even before our recent pet adoption I would take my kids in here to look at the fish, turtles and hamsters. They have a variety of pet toys, food, gear, and so much more. We have fun shopping here. I went in to purchase a flea collar and the staff was helpful with some DIY options as well to help keep fleas away.

New parakeets at night day 1.

Saturday I went to Petco at the corner of Walegra and Elverta in Antelope. We got 2 parakeets to be companions for a parakeet we already had. While I was there I got a "bird waterer". I put the new parakeets into the cage with the water container. I went to work and when I got home the water container had fallen andshattered because it was glass. The water feeder was securely attached, in fact the attachment is still on the side of the cage. I cleaned the cage several times to be very sure to clean up all the shattered glass. The base of the container has very sharp points. The birds did not show any cuts that night(yellow and blue). When I was able to check them the next day one new bird(yellow) was dead and the other was in very bad shape. I took them back to Petco with their defective water container and asked for a refund. Birds should live more that one day. They refused! Their receipt states "If you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, you can return it within 30 days for a full refund with proof of purchase." I had my receipt. The second bird(blue) has now also passed. Clearly I strongly encourage all to avoid this disreputable store! I feel horrible at the loss of our new pets and am disgusted at the way I was treated. The person who I spoke to on Sunday was not only rude to me but was treating many other customers in a rude, cold and callused manner. If you love your pets and want them to live, DON'T BUY FROM PETCO! The photos show the water feeder attachment on still on the side of the cage and a large broken chunk of glass on the bottom of the cage below. Birds looked fine Saturday night but died Sunday. Photos are from Saturday night when I found the problem. You know the surprising thing is that the person in charge was talking in an angry voice to customers saying "We are not selling any fish today!" And "We are not selling ANY pets today!" When the customers asked questions she talked back to them in a very snarky tone. Surely there was a big problem at this location and knowing this they still refuse a refund for parakeets that did not last a day.

The only reason I did not give this Petco one star is because the additional star is for the staff alone. They have always been really helpful but my gripe is it seems like this store is shortstaffed. They never have any carts so you have to carry all your food and items out yourself or wait for the one employee that is working to help. The store is a mess and a complete hazard. There are boxes and metal shelving hanging out in the middle of aisles.

    A satisfied beagle!!!

Bringing Penelope into our lives truly changed everything for our family, and especially for our daughter. From the very beginning, it was obvious how much care, skill, and dedication went into breeding, raising, and training these dogs. Penelope is not only beautifully trained, but she is calm, confident, gentle, and perfectly behaved in public. Restaurants, stores, crowded events, travel -- she handles every situation with professionalism and ease. People constantly comment on how exceptionally well behaved she is. Most importantly, Penelope has made an enormous difference in our daughter's daily life. She helps support her medical needs in ways that are hard to fully put into words. Beyond the tasks she performs, she provides comfort, confidence, companionship, and a sense of security that has truly been life changing. The bond between them is incredibly special. Penelope is also just an amazing dog. Sweet, loving, intelligent, intuitive, and completely devoted to our daughter. She has become a beloved member of our family, and we honestly cannot imagine life without her. We are endlessly grateful to Bill for giving our daughter not just a service dog, but a true partner and companion. The quality of the training and the temperament of these dogs are exceptional. If you are considering a service dog or working with Sierra Nevada K9 Academy in any capacity, we wholeheartedly recommend them. It has been one of the best decisions we have ever made.

Several months ago, I found a husky mix on the street. As an experienced husky owner, I named her…read moreSky and decided to bring her into the family. However, I realized almost immediately that she had some serious behavioral issues--specifically intense leash aggression and barking--that I simply wasn't equipped to handle alone. After researching local options, I gave Bill at Sierra K9 a call. It was clear right away that he has a genuine passion for what he does. He took the time to listen to my specific goals: I needed Sky to truly become part of my "pack" and be well-behaved enough to join me at breweries, and events. Bill outlined his methods and experience in great detail, and we sat down to map out exactly what it would take to get her there. I opted for the two-week intensive Board-and-Train program. Bill made it clear that the training wouldn't end when I picked her up; he committed to meeting with me for as long as it took for me to feel confident. Throughout those two weeks, Bill and his wife, Shelby, sent regular progress reports, photos, and videos. Seeing her thrive gave me so much peace of mind--it was obvious she was making strides and was incredibly well cared for. On pickup day, Bill and I had a thorough hand-off session. While I was impressed with Sky's progress, Bill was honest with me: the foundation was there, but the real work was just beginning for both of us. When we got back home, I'll admit I struggled. The leash reactivity and pulling returned, and I felt completely hopeless. But Bill and Shelby didn't leave me hanging. They checked in daily, "talked me off the ledge" more than once, and quickly scheduled an in-person session at my house. When Bill arrived, he could tell I was frustrated. He calmly reminded me of the process and took Sky's leash; she immediately "snapped back into shape"--no pulling, no barking, just focus. He carefully observed my handling, gave me manageable homework, and, most importantly, helped me reframe my mindset. He taught me that training isn't a chore; it's an exercise in patience and a form of therapy for both the owner and the dog. Fast forward one month: I've been working with Sky every day and meeting with Bill weekly (and he is always perfectly on time). The transformation is night and day. While she's still a little better on the leash with him than with me (haha!), she is truly a different dog. I know now that with time and Bill's continued guidance, Sky is going to fit in perfectly. I'm actually enjoying the work, we celebrate the wins together, and I am sincerely grateful to the Sierra K9 team.
