A Diagnostic Virtuoso: The "Mozart" of Veterinary Medicine As a retired Clinical Director who has spent a career hiring and evaluating medical professionals, I have an exceptionally high standard for clinical competence and professional integrity. For months, I searched for answers for my 123-pound gentle giant, Axel. I took him to several well-known clinics in Houston, but regrettably, they failed to find even the single mass I had discovered myself. They simply fumbled the opening statement. Then, I found Dr. Anna Parham at PetCare Express on Holcombe Boulevard. Dr. Parham is a true prodigy of her craft. While others relied on expensive overhead and corporate checklists, she used her hands and her clinical intuition--the soul of medicine that is clearly in her DNA. Within minutes, she identified three separate masses that the previous clinics had entirely missed. She performed a single FNA (Fine Needle Aspiration) to confirm the nature of the primary mass, while her expert clinical touch immediately identified the others as typical, benign lipomas. She gave us the unremarkable exam result we had been searching for. From the moment we walked into PetCare Express, the entire staff was exceptionally warm, friendly, and helpful. In a high-pressure field, their genuine caring and support created a seamless, stress-free environment for both me and my dog. Dr. Parham found in minutes what high-priced hospitals missed for months. She recognized a client who values quality and met that standard with an honest, transparent diagnosis. In a city of systemic predatory patterns, Dr. Anna Parham and the team at PetCare Express are a sanctuary of honesty. She is young, brilliant, and possesses a natural mastery of medicine that mirrors a virtuoso. Axel walked out a perfect patient, and I walked out knowing I have finally found the successor to the great legacy vets of Houston. read more

PetCare Express - Veterinarians Near Me - Houston, Texas

Big fan of this place affordable pet care never had a complaint about the doctor. If you care about your pet, you'll take them there.

Exhausted from waiting as I'm here right now I've came to this place because their prices are affordable but the wait is horrendous. The staff are nice and friendly. But if you have plans after your visit consider to rain check or call in work. I have come here for vaccinations for my yorkie and it was easier with a 2 hour wait during my first visit. Then I come on a Monday without appointment as a walk in thinking it'd be better but coming in for a check up is nowhere near as swift. I have been here since 11am and now it's around 2:30 just now getting seen. Still waiting on the rest of the check up. God speed to whoever reads this review and considers coming here and my deepest condolences to mine and my pup's patience. read more

great place. the vet is efficient and kind. the wait is long but that's to be expected. always recommend.

My dog had heartworm test in april 2025 and usually got 1 year heartworm prevention ill for 1 year. I use chewy to fill the script because I had a coupon 20% off and the clinic told me will be $10 for the written order. When I told the receptionist that they can send electronically to chewy they sent only 6 months not 1 year . Chew pharmacy called and I called but the place not answer . I guess I have to go there to ask why they did that because if you have the test done you should be able to fill the order any vet pharmacy if you can save money. I am not very happy with that kind of service read more

Michael and Levy are the most amazing technicians ever. They are truly angels. both speak with such deep compassion and empathy to not just the animals but also the owners. I do wait 2-6 hours to be seen but you always feel good coming here and not like you've been robbed. Additionally for the past 7 years my dog has been denied to get nails trimmed at anywhere we go to BUT levy and Michael have been the only ones capable of the task! Now after 3x getting his nails trimmed here my dog actually is pretty calm and doesn't put up such a fight since they made him feel safe. I'm so grateful and indebted to them- especially Michael! He definitely deserves being office manager and hopefully a veterinarian They try their best to keep costs low and solution oriented and are just simply very "just" in morals. Dr parham was also very kind, knowledgeable, and thorough in her examination although it was my first time meeting the Dr in my 10 visits here. read more

They were super cost efficient even tho they couldn't help with our pups dental problem. Great friendly staff.

Now it's that time where I fill the PET-AIR With my weird raps that are neither here nor PET-THERE I dreamed of Jeremy Stoppelman, same PET-nightMARE He was with 2 muscle guys but not willing to PET-SHARE IRL I dumped him but no-one can PET-COMPARE Please don't tell Barbie I'm having an PET-AFFAIR I wanna break his heart, and drive him to PET-DESPAIR Maybe if I quit Yelp and sign up for PET-FOURSQUARE? I'd see him tonight but haven't got a stitch to PET-WEAR We'd play "Yelp CEO explores British PET-AU PAIR" And when his bf/bro sees our video, he'll PET-GLARE But he's Madonna to my Jesus and we're filming Like A PET-PRAYER He likes me nice and smooth so I'll shave my body PET-HAIR And then we'll start to f**k, oh f**k I shouldn't PET-SWEAR He wants to hit me with his baton like dude hit Nancy PET-KERR(igan) So now I'm only gonna take my pussies to PETCARE WHAT? I wanted to date the female ruler of a land, so I came here. Nope. Should have gone to PetCare Empress. Would have been easier to make an empression, and more empressive. Let me Express how much I love PetCare Express. Simply put, this is the best vet I've ever found in the entire Deep South USA. They're wonderful people doing a wonderful service and they deserve all the credit in the world. I can't really imagine a better vet, honestly. All things considered, it might be the best vet that I've ever been to my life. They're basically charging next to nothing for their services and they are also doing so with honesty and integrity. The vet is extremely friendly and all of his techs are as well. One of the best things about the place is that they're even willing to tell me when nothing is needed and try and save me money, in fact their default is to try and save money and charge only for what is really necessary. One of the vet's fave things to say is "well if it was my pet, here's what I'd do." And I believe him. I think they are like this in general because they understand that none of us are doing amazingly financially at the moment, and are we ever? So they deserve all the credit in the world for this sort of behaviour. The only bad thing is the same thing that everybody else has been talking about, which is the awful wait time. I'm talking about one of the craziest wait times I've ever experienced. Two or three hours on a regular basis, five or six hours at worst. Just try to go when it's not a busy time and not on a weekend, that's all I can say. And maybe get there 45 mins before opening time and try to be in line at the door, or something. Houston's best vet, Texas' best vet, maybe the world's best. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Now that's what I call an X Press. And by the way, I used to work for a newspaper. I'm ex-press. read more

First time here. Found this place by searching online and price seems fair. They open at 10 am and I thought we'll let me get there early since it's first come first serve. I got there and we were 21 on the list. We got there at 10 and we left at 1 pm. So if your planning to take your babies there just know you have to wait a long time. The staff were nice. The only thing I didn't like is that you can't go back with the vet with them. The price is fair and definitely will keep coming back. read more

PetCare Express - My fur baby!! - Veterinarians Near Me - Houston, Texas

the place is closed down, never opens, long lines, doesn't answer the phone, scamming

My dog had a seizure on the way to them, they never picked up the phone and by the time i got to them to change her meds, they turned me away saying it's the end of the line..... I've been here before & never had it happen once especially since my dog is known for epilepsy read more

I'd give it less than one star if possible. the new staff is unprofessional rude and ugly with cheap orange highlights. They don't give pets refills on medication despite a history of illnesses. You can arrive ans then they refuse to allow you to speak to a doctor. The old doctor and staff were amazin. I will be taking my pet elsewhere Tomorrow and my many referrals also. It's a shame because they were the best vet. I may file a formal complaint also. read more

Thank you so much for making my Albi boy better, despite him leaving his manners at home. Great vet that's very caring, explains everything and does what is only necessary. I had taken my cat elsewhere and paid double the amount and my cat wasn't healed. Within a day Albus was back to his normal sketchy vet self after seeing Pet Care Express. Be prepared to wait. I didn't know people start at 8 am and thought I got lucky to be third in line. Wrong, lol. I ending up waiting about an hour being 5th in line. But for the cost and experience I had, I'll definitely be returned. Thanks again we appreciate it! read more

Hit or miss. Great for vaccines and preventative care. Not great for other issues (injuries, etc.). I was sitting in the waiting room and they called me saying they were calling me and I needed to go back, but I never left lol The med student was great! Front desk needs help. read more

Dr. Anna and the staff at Petcare Express are fantastic! My toy Aussie, Ollie, has been a patient here twice--first for vaccines and most recently for dental care. His teeth have never looked better! This clinic is no-frills and walk-in only, so be prepared for a bit of a wait, but the quality of care and affordable pricing make it well worth it. The staff is kind, knowledgeable, and truly cares about their patients. I highly recommend Petcare Express for anyone looking for excellent veterinary care at a great value! read more

Never again. I've been here 3.5 hours and am waiting again to pay. Couldn't go back with my kitten when they FINALLY called us. Didn't get to speak with a vet. Very grueling wait and less than stellar service. I'm going to always go to Palms to Paws, low cost vet. They weren't open today, so I made the mistake of coming here. read more

I have been coming to this clinic for years and it is probably the most professional, friendly, and affordable low-cost clinic in the city. With very cheap packages for vaccinations, dental cleaning, and other services, it's a very good option for basic animal care or more serious needs. The trade-off for the low costs is the long waits. Since it is a very popular walk-up clinic, you will be waiting for an hour or more depending on the time of day and how many patients there are. Due to COVID, they are also doing what is essentially car-side service and have people wait outside. But if you need affordable pet care, it's worth the wait. read more

We have frequented this location MULTIPLE times since 2012 for everything from "colds", vaccines, teeth cleaning, meds, nail clippings, etc. I trust them emphatically and I have always been impressed by the level of care and the fair cost, based on the clinic's proximity to some of the most affluent areas of the city. You may have to wait an hour to be seen but, if you want the savings then you have to wait for it. The location has no frills, attentive care by the doctors and vet techs. I have always felt very comfortable and easily, you can get significant discounts for services which you don't need a "private" vet for. If your pets will get the same care/meds, I think it's worth a visit here. I live in Brazoria county but, the cost savings is worth a drive, once or twice a year. Here's a hint though...they open at 10am most days and don't think you can get there right at 10am. The word is out and you should aim to get "in line" at the latest by 930. The queue grows very fast and there can easily be 10-13 people ahead of you by 1005am. read more

I think I've found a new vet. An acquaintance with no car had a stray dog under his care. I did him the favor of picking up the dog to take him to the SPCA. The SPCA is only taking injured strays and rehomed animals. The Humane Society has a waiting list to rehome animals too. But this is a stray. I began the process of taking care of this pup to hopefully eventually rehome him with proof that he's vaccinated and is heartworm negative. I called a friend and she recommended this vet clinic which is walk-in. The vet tech helped take the dog out of the car and put a muzzle on him. She was so nice and I wish I knew her name. "Blackie" was vaccinated. Then Dr. Parham and the general manager Daniel came in. The vet examined the dog and gave me several suggestions on how to find a home for the dog. The vet is very personable. He offered to write a prescription for my cat who's on a kidney care diet. And last but not least, vaccines, heartworm test and examination cost $74. While this clinic is not close to my home, it will be worth the trip with my felines. read more

I've been coming here since 2012 and still do. Love this place! Pros: -They are affordable. Like what's pet insurance? You'll spend way less here than at any other vet. I saved like 50% coming here. -They take walk-ins only, but not too long of a wait if you queue up about an hour before they open. -They do offer services other than vaccines. My cat had this bad cough, so they compounded antibiotics for her. Cons: -Not open on the weekends. -They take walk-ins only, so you could be waiting for hours to be seen if you don't queue up before they open. I suggest having the day off from work. I believe this is why their prices are so affordable. -Small parking lot. read more

I can't believe it, have I been coming here for 20 years? When I got my first dog at 19 I took her to the best rated and pricey places in Houston. I wanted the best for her. After taking in a stray, I needed a low cost clinic to make sure this dog was healthy to stay in my home until finding a new home. I picked up a lot of strays, and visited a few low cost places but this place is different. The same lady all those years is still there. She may not always be smiling but she's always kind and helpful through all the bustle and bark of the place. It's first come first serve so you might have to wait but now people sit in their cars so it's actually more peaceful for everyone. $9 beats a $60 vet visit especially for a vet that actually engages with you and your pet and doesn't do the old run in and out. Okay, yes, they try to be fast but I've always left feeling like they answered all my questions, and even been given options and possibilities and warnings of budget. That's not been my experience anywhere else. For the first time 2 years ago I was forced to decided the final moments of my old girl, my best friend. I held on so long and things turned so fast.... It was time. Maybe I wish someone came to my home, but she probably thought we where just going to the vet as usual. We came here, they didn't make me wait long, they let me stay in the room and gave me a bit to be with my girl both before and after. The staff, vet techs, and vets where very sympathetic but also gave me my space. There was an option of cremation and I later picked her up in a box. A year ago I got a puppy and moved out to the country 3 1/2 hours away. Guess what! I still drive down here to go to the vet. Bottom line, pet care express cares about the animals that comes in, and doesn't exploit your animals for cash like the pet industry loves to do. I have much appreciation to all that workers there for providing animals with great care, especially when it monetarily might not be an option otherwise. And also being so prompt when needing vet records to send them to vets or travel or groomers. I'll end this novel by saying my mom, friends, and ex boyfriends come he read more

All of the staff here are just great, in particular Dr. Parham, Amanda, Danny, and Jacob! They provided the absolute best care to my cat, Posie. They were also so very caring and empathetic while I was dealing with her being sick and ultimately having to send her over the rainbow bridge. I will be forever grateful to y'all. Y'all helped this broken hearted cat mom when I had to make a very difficult decision. This place is first come/ first served and you might have to wait for a while on their busy days but I 100% recommend this veterinarian clinic! read more

Took my doggies here for their dental cleaning. No eating after midnight. I was worried about the dogs starving because the office doesn't open until 10, but they were fine. $75 dollars for cleaning, $125 if there are extractions. With the physical exam and antibiotics, the total cost was ~$100. So reasonable!! The vet techs are really sweet. The dogs were wobbly afterward, so one of the techs helped me get the dogs into the car. My sweet Tedz peed on herself while waking up and earned herself a bath. Which was kind of expected because the same thing happened after her spay. My friend who is a vet told me you get what you pay for. E.g. we don't know what happens, they could be reusing tools or using cheaper tools, etc. But right now my dogs are younger and healthy, so weighing the risks vs. benefits I think it's worth it! read more

Poor customer service. Signed in at 2 pm. Still waiting at 5:30 pm. They skipped over my number to help at least 5 walk-ins before me. We waited for our turn and were ignored. I don't recommend this place, at all. read more

My first time here and the lady in the front YELLED on top of her lungs saying "take your dog outside, I can't take the barking it's to stressful". Everyone looked at each other like did she really just yell crazy like that? She yelled over the barks! Not only was I embarrassed, I felt disrespected and that was so unprofessional. Especially my first time here! I drove 45 minutes away trying to save money but never again! I'll pay an extra $100 in the suburbs and get better care for my pup and won't be disrespected! read more

It went fast and everyone was great to my fur babies I took in 2 babies and they took them both got shots and we were out. No

Only come here for vaccinations as they do not have a vet for sick animals during their entire hours of operations. I called one hour ahead to make sure the vet was in and as soon as I arrived (I arrived within the hour) the vet stopped seeing sick pets, but the vet was still on site because I saw them go ask, it's that unreliable. The front desk receptionist even raised her voice at me after I asked for the times the vet normally stops seeing sick animals because she doesn't even know herself. Very rude service that has only gotten worse over the years. It was 3:33pm when they stopped seeing sick animals and only did vaccinations and the place close at 6:00pm. read more

the first time I went I waited 5hrs to be seen. When we finally got to the back, the actual process wasn't long but I had to wait at least 30mins to pay whenever everything was done. I went back a 2nd time because that's where my pup got his initial shots. the 2nd time I waited 3hrs for them to tell me it was too early for my pup to come. read more

Man this shit was horrible! If i could give it zero stars I would but it's not letting me select the one star so fuck it. I got here around 10:30 & I'm writing this in the lobby at 1:13. All I need is a simple rabies shot for my Winnie dog. SMH I'll never be back read more

We took our 3 pups in for exams and vaccines on 4/13/22 to the Holcombe location, which moved the clinic to a new, larger and very attractive space next door. We were met by two smiling vet techs, Jacob and Gabby, who took our pups histories and assisted with their exams. Dr Anna Parham examined each pup and gave us feedback as she provided a head to paw assessment. Jacob, Gabby and Dr Parham sat on the floor with our pups, holding and petting each one throughout the process. It was obvious how much they enjoyed their work and our pups hovered around them, as if they were not ready for their exam to end! Our male, Branch, needed additional care and they worked him in the following day. We have seen some good veterinarians in the past, but Dr Parham is in a league of her own. Jacob and Gabby are right there with her, each providing an excellent patient care experience. Thank you!!! Cynthia and Hugh Blake read more

The vets and technicians are great. Compassionate and sweet to all my 3 fur babies whose personalities range from being shy, hyper, and sweet. Ive brought them here for eye infection, diarrhea issues, vaccines and teeth cleaning/ extractions. Going here is convenient for me when I can't get an appointment with their regular vet and also because their prices are very reasonable. They don't have equipment for immediate emergency complaints so do not come here expecting that type of service. There are other locations nearby like gulf coast animal emergency hospital or sunset hospital for those type of visits. Yes the wait time sucks here, but it's what's expected with the prices being charged. Just make sure to come 2 hours early, as the lines form even before it opens. My only complaint and why it's getting 4 stars are the two assistants checking out the customers. I understand you are completed bombarded with so many patients everyday, but just a change in their tone of voice would make such a world of difference. read more

Still love Dr. Parham, he can give proper diagnosis in one visit. But his tech and his front desk made horrible mistake on giving us the prescription. His tech assisted him in writing the rx and she put take 3 tabs/time and twice daily, but she only provide us 90 tabs for a month, that is totally not enough for one month. And his front desk put wrong instruction on the bottle, take 1 tabs and twice daily. I didn't pay attention and just follow the directions on the bottle, and my boy didn't take adequate amount of the medication for two weeks until I realized there are not enough tablets in the bottle. I will still go to Dr. Parham as he is very good. But I won't trust his tech and front desk anymore. read more

Great pet care and affordable prices. Sometimes there is a longer wait, but it's worth it.

I'm positive I must have done something wrong as my experience was hellish. I was told to just drop by for my dog's discount vaccinations. After waiting over 2 hours and watching lots of customers waltz in and out ahead of me, I'm still waiting. I don't get it. Maybe they don't make money off the discount vaccinations. I will probably pay the additional $100 to avoid the misery. read more

I came here mainly because the office fee costs $9. I have had many great experiences here, but yesterday's experience wasn't so great... it's usually first come first serve, so the wait was expected. I came in because my dogs parvo/bordetella shots were due. I wrote the reason why I came to visit as "annual shots" because those two are usually due every year. When I got into the room, I had to wait for the vet to show up. She came in about 2 minutes later and asked a few questions about Ares. She then proceeded to give my dog two injections, which,.. she never told me what they were giving him. The vet also told me that the only 3 trusted brand of dog food were Purina, royal canin, and hills science. She said only they use money to do "studies". When I paid and saw the receipt. It showed that they gave Ares the parvo shot and a rabies shot!!! His rabies shot wasn't due until 2019 because he had gotten the 3-year rabies vaccine. I never knew that rabies vaccine was considered an annual shot (other vet has told me adult dogs can receive the 3-year and puppies receive 1-year). read more
