My cat normally enjoys being…read more'shaved' and having getting rid of his matted fur knots after a few years.But after subjecting my ragdoll cat to a very traumatic session from another company claiming to be a 'groomer' - he looked like he has been 'groomed' with a weed wacker (they used scissors) - and not finished. So reluctantly (both him and I) took him to Wilwood Pet Spa. Took some coaching to get him out of his carrier - but once out, Jocelyn was absolutely amazing! She was obviously knowledgeable, kind and respectful of his past 'session' and knew what to do - and not to do. I can not thank her enough. Very affordable and happy to report the puss is resting comfortable. Will be taking him back in a couple of months for a trim and couldn't recommend Milwood Pet Spa more highly! You can see why I'd be surprised to show up before 4pm and have them be closed with the door locked. Instead of saying 8-5, why not say our hours are whatever we want? The goal of working at Petstuff is for these folks to get permanent employment. I personally think it's a fabulous idea and it's what brought me to their store in 2009 for the first time. The employees at Petstuff are very sweet and kind. They love to help you out and always welcome a furry visitor. They've got a good selection of food, toys, grooming supplies, and everything else you could need for your pet. For people who are training for other work opportunities, I am always very impressed at how knowledgeable the employees are. They really do a fantastic job! I haven't had any personal experience with their groomer but have heard from numerous people that they do a great job. The pugs may be visiting that area of the business soon!

But the difference is the Petsmart where I'm originally from was less than a 5 minute drive. Now you really have to travel out just to get there and if you're just going to see if they carry your brand of food only to find out they don't it can feel like a waste of time. Luckily I had a friend in tow that was looking for a new cat tree so it wasn't a total waste of time for me. As with most warehouse type shopping experience everything is going to be slightly cheaper and you'll probably have lots of options to choose from but again if you're just going for one thing: Meh. There wasn't anyone there (customer wise) when we were perusing for cat tree's. I don't think this particular location has caught on just yet so the employees seemed overly eager to help us. Two of us vs five of them = too much customer service. But they seemed nice and really I don't blame them if they are having to stare at the windows all day at the empty parking lot. If they put a Costco out there, business would probably be mad hopping. Get your 50 pounds of ground beef for you and your 150 pound bag of food for your four-legger!

So as many of you know Adam and I have two bearded dragons, Apollo who is 2 and (Tiger)Lilly who is…read more6 months old. Sadly we did previously have another dragon, Phoenix, but she passed away. In Halifax there are 2 (1/2) vet clinics that handle exotics. Fairview Animal Hospital, and the Sackville Animal Hospital. Poor Nixie tried to lay eggs one day and well things did not go well. We needed to take her to a vet and right away! Naturally this happened on a Friday night around 11pm, and I had been previously told that the emergency vet clinic did not handle reptiles (this was misinformation), so we waited until the morning and frantically called first thing. We were able to get in to see Dr. Benjamin the exotic specialist within an Hour. Although things didn't work out for Nixie all of the staff were extremely warm and welcoming. We walked in with our tupperware container and the second they saw us they said "Oh that must be Phoenix", and you could tell they all genuinely cared about us, our lizard, and wanted to do everything in their power to help. Some of the interns who were working there stayed with her the entire time she was there, trying to make sure she ate, that her distention was properly cared for and that she was warm and as comfortable as possible. Unfortunately Dr. Benjamin was not going to be in on Sunday and Nixie needed continued care so they did all the necessary paperwork, faxed it and called ahead to the emergency Vet Clinic, so that we could transfer Nixie there (which also saved us some money as they did not have to do a full exam and assess her injury or develop a treatment plan). About a week later we received a card in the mail signed by all the staff thanking us for choosing the Sackville Animal Hospital, and then about a week after we had called them to tell them that Nixie had passed away, we received a sympathy card from them with personalized notes from all the staff. Not just signatures but real notes. I have taken many pets to many vets and have NEVER felt like the vet clinic cared so much about the animals and owners. I would very highly recommend the Sackville Animal Hospital, and will continue to make the 45 minute drive to have my dragons cared for, rather than go to the closer exotic vet because the staff are so fantastic!

The folks at Sackville Animal Hospital have been awesome. They're very accommodating and scheduling (and rescheduling...and rescheduling) has never been a problem. Friendly, helpful, and efficient staff who gush over Rory's cuteness. Well, who wouldn't? They also have convenient hours for appointments, so getting him in during the evenings is never an issue.
