When I moved to Goose Creek and needed a new groomer for my dog, I had a bunch of people recommend PSP. I was a little wary, having heard stories about pet store groomers, but I trusted these opinions so I brought her in. From the very beginning, they listened to me while I explained how to handle my dog (she can be a diva) and they took me seriously. They would check in after each appointment, letting me know what went well and how quickly she was improving and getting more and more comfortable each time. There has been some turnover, but we have stuck with Bailey all along and it's been wonderful. My dog, who was very nervous about going to the groomer and needed to be drugged up in advance, now wags her tag in excitement when she realizes where we're going and drags me through the store to greet her friends in the grooming room. She jumps up on the half door and lets herself into the back room, settling right into her favorite kennel (that they leave open when she's scheduled)! The rest of the staff with whom I have interacted have also been wonderful. They come to recognize the regulars and will chat with you if they have a moment. This happened at the 208 St James Ave location on Saturday, May 16. I came in around 1:00 p.m. to use the self service dog bath station while running between errands. It should have been a quick and simple visit, but it turned into an extremely uncomfortable experience because of Sheldon, who I later found out was the store manager. From the moment I walked in, Sheldon had a rude, dismissive, and unpleasant attitude. At checkout, he gave me a receipt and told me I needed to give it to someone in the back. When I walked to the bathing area, there was no one there to check the receipt, explain anything, or assist. The self service dog wash area was dirty and not well maintained. There were 2 bath stations, and the area did not look properly cleaned. The dryer also was not working properly, which is a major problem when someone is paying to use a self service dog bath. When I asked how I was supposed to dry my dog, Sheldon handed me a towel and said he doesn't really go back there and didn't know. I also asked if they had a rubber scrubber or bathing brush available because many self service dog wash stations provide something to help wash through the dog's coat properly. I was told to just use my hands. A groomer came over and said they use their hands as well. I understand some dogs may have sensitive skin, but if basic bathing tools are not provided, staff should be able to explain that professionally instead of making the customer feel like they are being difficult for asking. The worst part was Sheldon's behavior. Instead of handling a simple customer concern calmly, he became rude, dismissive, and started cursing. The altercation happened around 1:14 p.m. When I began recording because of how uncomfortable and unprofessional the interaction became, he claimed that I cursed at him, which I did not. I tried to speak to him calmly, and when I said "my friend," he responded, "I'm not your friend," and walked away. That type of behavior is unacceptable from any employee, but it is especially unacceptable from someone in a management position. A manager should set the tone for the store, speak to customers professionally, de escalate concerns, and help solve problems. Sheldon did the complete opposite. I do want to say that Colin was polite, professional, and friendly. After Sheldon left, Colin tried to speak with me and apologize on behalf of the manager. His communication felt appropriate for a pet friendly, family environment, and he handled himself well. Everyone else in the store seemed friendly, which makes this even more disappointing. One person's conduct completely ruined the entire experience. I also noticed another recent Google review from a customer raising concerns about the self service dog wash area, including safety concerns with the setup. Based on my experience, it seems like the dog wash area may need serious review from ownership and corporate. I left the store around 1:29 p.m. and later submitted a complaint to the owner contact provided to me by a female manager at the store. I will not be returning to this location. The self service dog wash area was dirty, the dryer was not working properly, the support was poor, and the store manager's behavior was completely unacceptable. This location needs serious attention from ownership and corporate. read more

I say maybe because my last 2 visits were not great. Just now I went to wash my dog since I paid for their self serve dog bathing service but I waited at the counter while the young lady was scrolling through her cell phone, not greeting me or acknowledging me what so ever when I guess she felt she was done she then acknowledged me but not with like a "Hi" she just waited for me to say she I was there for. I was unable to wash my dog because 2 people were ahead of me (that me not having time). But I I think I'm going to get a refund on my washing card. I've been going there since the day they opened and it's been going down for the past year or more. There other places and perhaps that should be a thought when your customer service reps are not so welcoming and don't prioritize customers over their cell phones. read more

We have never been to this store since they've opened up in goose creek. But after being told they had kittens for adoption, since we were looking for one for my daughter, we decided to check it out. We went 2 weeks ago and ended up getting a kitten. All the kittens looked healthy and cages were clean. Even the staff was very nice and helpful. We were undecided about getting a kitten , so they said hey would hold in the one my daughter wanted. Next day we got the kitten. I recommend this store. Decent prices for food and supplies. I've never been inside such a large pet supply store before this day. For the most part, all I was exposed to were pet stores similar to Petland (Discounts? was that part of their name?) On Saturday mornings, set within cartoon break time, the furry moustaches fellow would say that this was the place for pets and pet supplies, poor fella is probably long gone by now. Times have changed and pet stores seem to have grown as we have grown closer and expanded our families to include our four legged friends. The dog beds I was intending on purchasing were not really large enough for my two guys, and the prices kinda took me by surprise, a hefty seventy dollars. I discovers this place by accident while searching for nearby pet stores. I prefer coming here for many reasons. The prices on brands are almost always lower then petsmart, they have more sales, and they have their own brand items in the store for lower prices. The shelves are very well stocked with all kinds of brands for dogs, cats, small animals, fish, wild birds and many more. Most of the staff is helpful and will approach me first but other times it's hard to find a single person working except the cashier. read more

I absolutely love this store. PSP is the only store the carries my dog food- Fromm. And when this branch first opened they didn't have it yet and would order it for me from the summerville store. I love all the eomplyees, especially Karen (it's either Karen or Kathy). English accent and the most helpful person I've ever encountered at any store. She makes sure she greets everyone, thanks you 'kindly' for shopping and is just so sweet and genuine and helpful. This woman should be a manager. The younger staff is nice as well, always pet my dogs and are really nice. I love the groomer also! She takes care of my pack despite them being a handful. I have regularly used this store for 6 years for my dog's purchases and previous grooming services. I have never been asked previously (for grooming purposes) had my dog taken any medication. He is prescribed an anxiety medication (non-daily use) for nail clipping, fireworks, & extreme thunderstorms. I arrived on 05/21/2023 at my appointment time and was asked had he taken medication? I advised yes and told the lady what he took. She asked if he takes it every day. I said no. She said she could not take him for his appointment due to store policy being "unless he takes any medication every day, we can't take him". He is prescribed medication "as needed" for the anxiety he experiences and that is how I administer it to him. I found this "store policy" to be news to me. If they tell you upfront you need to bring rabies vaccination copy, I believe they should also ask if the animal is on medication up front, and how often etc. before they waste your time to inform you of this in the store once you're already there with your animal. Just wanted to make people aware of this "policy", as I know many animals deal with anxiety & other issues that require meds, and this store tends to pick & choose when they ask the medication question. Highly disappointed. We go in often and the past 3 visits actually were less than good. The main woman who works the fish with the long braid (can not remember her name for the life of me) has definitely changed her attitude and not for the better. She has gone from very happy, friendly, supportive to almost snooty. We have chatted with her multiple times about what we have going on in our tanks and our plans and the last time we came in, it was like we had no idea what we were doing. Told us we could not buy any fish if we didn't have a tank at home cycling for at least 5 days (We have multiple established tanks). Stating she is just "doing her duty". Then offered to test our water but also said it in a way that came off as rude. I get that, you want to make sure people are going to take care of their pets, do it the right way got it. But the way she said it was in a tone where I'm ready to switch pet stores. There was another lady working the register, has to be fairly new as we have never seen her before and she had no clue what she was doing nor was she of any help to us when I asked a question. She only tried to find the answer for us as we were walking out the door. I just have zero desire to come back which is very disappointing as we have always loved coming there. My puppy and I love this place so much! The employees here are always friendly and eager to help. This store always has awesome sales going around for anything you need. They also send $5 and $10 coupons out every month or every other week as long as your purchase is $30-40. I really appreciate the coupons so I can buy quality dog food in bulk. A vet also comes in every Tuesday from 5:30-7:30 and they have amazing prices. This store also has a "pet wash" that has everything you need to wash your pet and it's only $10!! All you have to do is bring a towel. Nail trimming is $10 as well if you're a pet supplies plus member. read more
