Zero Accountability and Zero Compassion - Disappointed with Both Locations I recently had to return two brands of cat food that made my cat--who has never had stomach issues--sick. This wasn't about changing my mind or abusing a return policy; it was about a health issue that could've seriously harmed my pet. The Livonia (7 Mile) location, which is my closest store, flat-out refused to take it back. I was told they couldn't process the return because I "didn't buy it from their specific store"--even though it's a national chain. Then they added that they might not even carry the same flavors, so they couldn't help me. So essentially, if I'm unlucky enough to grab something from a different Pet Supplies Plus, this one doesn't care--even when a pet's health is at stake. Zero flexibility, zero empathy. Frustrated, I went to the Dearborn (Telegraph) location. Initially, I was told they also couldn't accept the return without a receipt or membership. But after a short conversation and a little pushback, the return was magically processed in two clicks. So clearly it was always possible--they just chose to say no until it was inconvenient for them to keep refusing. The lack of consistency between stores is bad enough, but the lack of basic compassion and accountability is worse. This company sells products meant to nourish animals--when those products make a pet sick, they should take that seriously. Instead, I was treated like a nuisance. If your policies change store to store, and helping a sick pet comes down to arguing with staff just to get basic support, why should anyone trust Pet Supplies Plus with their animals' well-being? read more

Today was my 3rd attempt to get my cat's nails clipped after calling to make sure the groomer was there. The recording said the groomer was open until 4:00, so I was there by 3:30 only to hear that there is no groomer today and they couldn't tell me why because they didn't know. There was 2 young people at the register that were so nonchalant, displaying no interest. When I got home, I called to speak to the manager, but all I got was a "beep". I've been going to the store on Telegraph in Dearborn for many years, but I can tell you I won't be back. Shame on this store! I can understand things happen, but after 3 attempts, they lost a good customer. Shame on them. read more

I booked a grooming appointment for my dad's dog, thinking it was for the upcoming Thursday, only to realize when I arrived that it was actually scheduled for the following month! Thankfully, Kate kindly offered to squeeze us in if her 2 PM client didn't show--and luckily for us, they didn't. She ended up taking Ginger in, and about 40 minutes later, I got a call saying she was ready. Ginger looks and smells amazing now! I come here to stock up on bird seed. Ever since I put a bird feeder in front of my living room window I've been going through a bag of seed every week or so. My cats totally love watching the birds eat off our feeders, so it's a win-win situation for me... birds are happy, cats are happy. Pet Supplies Plus prices are always very reasonable. It doesn't smell bad inside the store. The employees are not super-friendly but they're not mean either. Unfortunately, they don't offer the same awesome prices Target does on our cats' litter and food, so I really only come here for bird seed. Regardless, it's close to my house and their bird seed prices keep me coming back. read more

Convenient stop along telegraph for our grain-free dog food. Helpful service. Has an old-school petstore feel (because it is!) and the prices are average to reasonable -- especially if you have a coupon or use Yelp Deals to get cash back. Easy parking. And they always have fliers for the low cost shot clinics, which are convenient. read more

This is my go-to Pet Supplies Plus because it carries the only brand of dog food we use, but the customer service is so great here. The manager and staff are always very polite and accommodating. Glad there's an awesome store so close by. read more

This store has been doing great business for the entire 15 years that I have shopped there. The employees are friendly and knowledgeable. The store is clean and well stocked. I have never asked anything that they did not have a well informed answer for. There is a new location closer to me but I continue to shop this location due to their history with me. Give them a try. I recently visited the store in Dearborn at Telegraph and Oxford. The was not busy at all, after leaving ,I was home within minutes. I called the store with a question that eluded me during my visit. My call was answered by a recording,giving me several options, after listening to them I picked the one that would get me to a employee. The phone rang several times only to get a message , that they were unable to take my call and to leave a message. During my visit I counted 4 employees , two working on the sales floor the other two at the front register gabbing . From the time I left and drove home (5 Minutes ) they got that busy that they couldn't find time to answer the phone. I Think Not. This is a just pet store ,do they really need a elaborate phone system that they don't answer. There are too many pet stores around that don't have a problem when it comes to taking of the needs of the consumer. Plus their prices are on the high end of the scale. We have been ordering our cat and bird food online and having it delivered ! Josh has helped us both times and has been wonderful. He called us with updates and food arrived in a timely manner, even apologized if it was late even though it was not necessary. I have had pleasant experiences when I have come into the store too. yes, i am a bit bias because this location is right around the corner from my house. so the convenience factor is a big, big plus. that aside, they have the specialty dog food my dog must have due to her allergies. this dog food (blue diamond - corn, wheat, & soy free) is pretty hard to find. the few places i have seen this dog food at usually carry it at a high price. pet supplies plus however, carries it at a reasonable price and they always have it in stock. my pooch chews herself raw unless she has this dog food so it's a must to have (no exceptions). besides the dog food and convenience, i will add that they have really low prices on their dog toys. considerably cheaper than Pet Smart. they usually have a good selection of toys too. they also carry corn/wheat free dog treats at a lower price than Pet Smart/PetCo. plus, they'll add coupons to their ads from time to time ($5 off). with the money i spend on my dogs and how quickly they destroy things, price counts. they go through toys like water. their mission; kill the squeaker!!! they don;t realize with every squeaker kill, their mommy's bank account dies a little bit too. on to the staff......the staff is really friendly and even though they seem like a young bunch, they've always been really helpful. two thumbs up for service and smiling faces. :-) the only negative is that their selection of collars and leashes don't change that often and they don't really carry larger dog clothes. i don't really dress my dogs but two of my pooches get cold in the winter so i am always looking for a warm vest for them to wear. since my dogs are "big-boned," i look immediately for XL/XXL/XXXL and this store never really has anything big enough. they seem to carry small clothes though if that's your thing. oh another negative i suppose; the parking lot is laid out kind of strange. be careful if you are bringing your dog in cause there are cars coming and going and the intersection is busy almost all times of the day. bottom line; better prices, better food selection, durable & reasonably priced toys with a staff that actually ask you if you need help finding/carrying anything..............this is my official pet store. read more

I love coming here. I buy bulk clumping cat litter, and this is the least expensive place. Whenever I need anything else for my cats or grand dogs or fish, they have it. Someone is always right there to carry my cat litter to the car. Everyone is always friendly and helpful. read more

The staffers are polite and helpful if you have a question. I have asked them to put kitty litter into my basket and lift it into the car and they gladly do so each time. When my pet does not like her food I have taken it back for another brand and the store accepts it back each time. I shop there when I need litter and food. The only reason why I don't like to give perfect scores is because I find few people, stores or companies to be "perfect". I think only God is perfect and if a store scores a 4 that's as good as it can get. read more
