I brought my dog here years ago and she came out looking bad! Sherry gaslit me into thinking my dog didn't look that bad. I would not recommend this place for owners of mini Australian shepherds. This place might do better with other dog breeds. While I do not recommend this place, I do recommend copperfield dog. This is in reply to sherry, my mom told me she did not say pepper looked good. I took my Shih Tzu there an over a month ago. I asked for a summer cut, just one level above shave. I picked up my girl and I noticed when we got home that her skin was red and irritated. She kept scratching and rubbing against the floor. She had red bald patches around her body. The next day she happened to have a vet appointment and the vet told me her skin was irritated and most likely because the groomers tools were not maintained and sharpened. It took her about a week to heal. The next day I wrote the company an email and it's a little over a month later and no response. Not even a phone call to check on her, no apology, nothing. An apology and effort to make things right goes a long way. That tells me what kind of shop they run. I do not recommend. read more

I have also taken her for 1/2 day of day care several times and the change in my dog is wonderful. She is excited when we get near the store and she is played out when I pick her up. It was our first time here and our dogs very first time being professionally groomed and he was obviously very much nervous the whole time which was expected but I was even more nervous dropping him off I've heard to many pet grooming stories but they absolutely killed it with our dog! They also answered literally ANY questions me or my boyfriend had and gave so many details about the process and what they would be doing exactly. They were super friendly with us and our dog and that was honestly a relief, I see why they are super busy lol! Took my baby there today. I have used them in the past and never had a problem. Today was terrible. They didn't do anything with the hair around his face ears and upper back. They did the back part. But worse thing ever. THEY CUT ALL the hair off his tail and was o ly supposed to take an inch off. He is a Pekingese and had been growing his tail for 8yrs. I am devastated. They left a poof at the end like he is a poodle. She cut his nails really deep and it looked really horrible. When I got him home, he started bleeding, after cleaning his nails up and put medicine on his wound, I called and ask who took care of my baby, and they just told me to bring him back so they could clean it up.... What if I lived 30mins away? I was happy with April, she really did great, gentle and friendly with the dogs but since she's gone, I have not felt satisfied everytime I brought my baby in. LOVE LOVE this place! Kaela has been Lacey's (shih szu) stylist for quite some time and we have always gotten great results. I'm writing this review because I brought Lacey in with terrible ear yeast and an eye build up that closed her poor eye. I was wondering if I needed to take her to the vet first, but once I called Sherry's, they said they could clean her up and sure enough THEY DID!!! Lacey's eye is open, clean and her ears are clean as well. Of course, there are things that are contributing to this, but Kaela did an OUTSTANDING job of getting her all cleaned up so I can watch her and see what the next step will be. Dropped him off for bath an de-shed at 7 am got a call 5 hours later saying she didn't want to continue working on him because he snapped at her finger(did NOT break the skin). I did let them know he mouths at the hands and that the previous groomer had to muzzle him to continue. My dog has gotten groomed numerous times at another location an I've never had this issue. He only got a bath. Not to mention he wasn't even fully dry when I picked him up. As I walked in I could hear a groomer raise her voice at a dog saying "stop that!". I probably would of nipped her to if I was a dog getting treated like that by a stranger. I read other reviews an some sounded great... but this was my experience with them. read more

I have been coming here for 2 years. And I've always paid extra for the anal gland expression. Wednesday morning my dog's anal glands are swollen and the vet tells me my groomer has not been doing it right. So I spoke to manager and she told me that it is included and not extra. Which is an obvious lie even on the website it says it's upon request. And I remember them telling me it's extra when I first started going there. Then when I spoke to the manager about it she was argumentative and did not have great customer service skills. She said it was not their fault even though they never told me they only did external. Nowhere on the website or anywhere does it specify. She even admitted to me that last time (2 weeks ago) my dog was there they should have told me her anal glands are filling up. The manager did nothing for me. She told me the owner would call me the next day, which did not happen. Then I called and they told me the owner is on vacation now which is an obvious lie again. This is concerning to me as a pet owner because they will NOT take any accountability if something happens to your fur baby. I never got any refund or any apology or anything. They definitely overcharge but are not professional and that does not make sense to me as a customer. Now my poor dog is in pain and I have a high vet bill.****** IN RESPONSE to the owners comment******* : I took my dog to a different vet not thrive because they were busy so thanks for calling them but not me back! Also your manager did admit to me she should have told me two weeks ago her anal glands needed to be emptied! Also the only threat I mentioned, was to leave a bad review. I hate to write a BAD review, but WOW! This was my second visit to Shery's. The facility came with high recommendations from a friend, but my experience was not good. The first time I went to Sherry's my dog was literally shaved down to the bone because of her matting. I was sad, but understanding. My Mollie (standard poodle) scratched and licked all night because of the severe rednes on her belly, genitalia, and paws. I gave her Benadryl for two nights because her skin was so irritated. Still, I was understanding because I felt like it was my fault because of the matting. Eventually, Mollie's fur grew, and I decided to get her groomed again at Sherry's. On this visit, my partner picked her up as I had appointments all day and couldn't get to her in time. When I arrived home in the evening, I noticed Mollie's mouth was swollen and red. It looked like the razor had nicked her in a couple of places. Her hind paws were reddish pink around her nails. It was a beautiful haircut, but Mollie was VERY SUBDUED and not her usual playful self. She was very needy and clinging to me all night. Ashley was her groomer and mentioned that she had difficulty shaving her paws. She indicated that Mollie would never get her paws shaved again because she had constantly licked her hands and the razor while shaving. I agreed but was a little confused as the assistant manager Kaela had recommended the standard cut for a poodle. It was NOT my idea to shave around her paws and nails. Not sure what happened at the grooming place, but my dog was obviously shaken. I'm unhappy to pay so much and have my animal act so subdued and needy. I won't be going back which is sad because the staff in the front are so nice. I wasn't allowed to meet her groomer nor the conditions in the back where this all took place. I'm sorry for the bad review, but I'm more concerned about my pet and her well-being! read more

I've had several different stylists for both dogs and each one always asks me every visit how I would like the cut to be, which I appreciate they want to make sure their customers are satisfied. Very good experience there as a new customer with an older Shih Tzu. I asked them for a short cut but not shaven and they did exactly that! Most places just shave her. I have always taken my dogs here for grooming and boarding they have all been done very well and always leave happy. For boarding I pay for the suite to make sure my furbaby Dex is as comfortable as possible while we are out of town. However, I am disappointed in the Daycare option. We are having construction done in our home currently so our Dex was placed here for daycare. I unfortunately made an assumption from seeing the room and from the website that the daycare was indoors ("We have an outdoor play area as well as an indoor play room.") especially when a dog is an indoor dog. Yesterday when I picked him up I was told he vomited from the heat when they had them outside. I thought that to be weird for a short trip outside still thinking that he was indoors all day. I called our vet and they said dogs do that when they have heat exhaustion. He drank nearly 16 oz of water when we got home and we had to give him a cool bath to get him cooled down. We thought that he was just tired everyday from playing but found out this morning when I advised dropping him off that he was to stay indoors that daycare is outside everyday unless it is raining. THAT IS RIDICULOUS IN THIS HOUSTON HEAT OF 90 DEGREE PLUS EVERY DAY NO ANIMAL SHOULD BE LEFT OUTSIDE!!! I have now left two messages today for the owner maybe this will get the attention to this. UPDATE - I did hear back from someone at the shop and am awaiting resolution on a refund of days paid we will not use. Modified total rating as I still stand behind the 1 star on the day care until they change their policies but his grooming has always been great. We still have not fully decided if he will be brought back for grooming at this time. read more

I took my 16 month old mini schnauzer there one time, the women were super friendly, and they seemed to be good with my puppy. The price was good. Having said that, they did keep him there for 7 hours, and I finally went up there to get him and they weren't done yet STILL, so I'm guessing they rushed his face because it was sheared SUPER short on the neck and face. Also, they said they didn't pluck his ear hairs because he "didn't need it yet" and they "didn't want to push him". (he is a hard dog to groom) He didn't appear to have any injuries, but the next day he sprouted up with bumps all over his neck and behind his ears. I waited about a week and took him to the vet and they said he had a bacterial infection. It got worse though, so I had to go back to get medicated shampoo and anitbiotics. The vet said the only way to get that is through a nick in the skin and the clippers would have had to be infected with bacteria. That was a month ago and I am still trying to get rid of it. I called them to tell them about it, so they would know why I wasn't coming back and got NO apologies or anything. The owner did say they disinfect their equipment daily, but I would think they would need to do it after EACH DOG to prevent the spread of bacteria???? I am just wanting to warn people who are thinking of using this place. My neighbor referred me to them, and so I wished I had looked on here and I never would have brought him there. Poor baby. There is a happy ending though, he went to a new groomer today and was done in, get this, ONE HOUR, he didn't shake or get scared, he loved this new place. And they even did his ears.... :) Edited to add: The new groomers name is Natural Dawg Cuisine located at Barker Cypress and 290. read more
