Took our puppy to Pet Me Scratch Me for the first time for a nail clipping. The groomer took our 16 week old puppy, Rigby, back without any inquiry to his name, not to mention not even engaging with him to allow the angst of a new face/place to subside with play. The groomer was not present with our dog and we could audibly hear him yelping from what we thought was anxiety/fear. The groomer was not present with our puppy based on the lack of prioritizing safety and the expedited fashion the service was performed. Rigby was rushed through the process, less than two minutes; the grooming door opened and I was handed his leash. While waiting for the desk personnel to assist, Rigby was noticeably dripping and smearing blood on your lobby floor. Significantly telling regarding the (lack there of) presence of your groomer with our puppy. I understand mistakes happen, but to have no recognition of the fact, no accountability for poor service provided and to simply be told "that's $14" was not attending to our troubling experience today. Canine compassion was not shown for our puppy. read more

We have been taking our dog to Pet Me Scratch me in Onalaska for 7 years. He goes twice a week and loves it so much that he knows the day and will start jumping by the door! We recently relocated to La Crosse and were looking for a daycare/boarding facility. Based on a internet search, we decided to pay Pet Me Scratch Me a visit. We called to set up our initial 'meet and greet,' which ended up consisting of them taking our dog back into a room and meeting another dog, then telling us he 'passed.' It took less then 5 minutes. I asked for a tour of the facility and was shown a VERY crowded indoor play room and asked, 'do you hear anything?' To which I replied, 'no.' The person giving the tour was very proud of the fact that there were NO dogs barking. It was weird; I would expect a room as packed as the one they showed me to have dogs running, playing, and barking. I'd had someone in town tell me they use citronella to keep the dogs from barking, but I'm not sure if that's accurate. I asked about daycare schedules and was told that the soonest they had an opening for our dog to go was TWO months away. As far as grooming, we decided to try one of the groomers who was supposed to be 'great.' Our dog ended up with numerous lines and big chunks out of his fur. This is a dog who has been getting groomed every 6 weeks since he was 3 months old and he's never come home with chunks cut out of his hair. The postive: very clean, sells quality pet toys and food. Needless to say, we've found another local daycare/boarding that seems to be in it more for the people and pets than the $$. read more

They are an all around great place for your pets. We board, day care and groom our 3 dogs here and wouldn't take them anywhere else.

Pet Me Scratch Me is Doggie Daycare, grooming & training center and they sell high quality pet food. I have been there for cat food, since they are one of the only place in town which carry the ONLY food my cat will eat and they have always been very nice, giving me free samples when they were out of the food to hold me over until it came in. Their biggest business is daycare. I have not brought my dogs here for daycare but many people I know do and really like it. I have been here for a playgroup and do like that they have an inside play area. The only problem I have is that they don't have an outside play area. I think this is important for dogs to play outside in the grass but I understand inside padding is more sanitary. I will keep buying food here (they do have good prices) and would bring my dog here if they need daycare (i.e. when I can afford it). read more

Very clean environment, several options for boarding, grooming, etc. Unfortunately, did not have a good experience with the staff, especially Marissa. Very cold, not polite, didn't use manners, rolled her eyes a few times during pick up. May seem crazy, but our dog acted different when Marissa was around the daycare. Well, I need to voice my opinion here. We brought our wheaten terrier to PMSM the year they opened and she still attends. That was eleven years ago. Minnie, our 1 year old cockapoo, just loves everyone and everything about Pet Me Scratch Me. It's close to home, convenient and affordable. The groomers add special touches like feathers to her hair, without me having to ask. They know what they are doing and they are kind and gentle with her. The boarding is a lifesaver because our dog vomits in the car, sometimes even short car rides. When we take road trips or travel out of state, Pet Me Scratch Me saves the day! Our last child (aka Larry, a Westie) has been going here for several years, before they moved to the new location. The day care has been phenomenal always and Larry can hardly wait to get there. But when they moved and offered boarding, great got greater. They really pay attention to their charges and you can call and find out how your best friend is doing. The groomers are all wonderful and we are very satisfied with their work. Now that you can combine daycare with boarding you have the best -- doggie plays with his friends all day, then has dinner and views animal planet before going to sleep and doing it all over again the next day. We have been happy customers since the beginning of PMSM. This is a business that knows how to do things right. I started to take our dogs there to help remind them they are dogs by keeping them in the dog pack mentality. It is the best thing for our dogs. One of our dogs will follow on my heels in the morning in hopes that he will be dropped off at "school". Our other dog has better behavior at PMSM then he does at home because of the pack mentality and how the staff handles the dogs. I highly recommend PMSM to anyone with a dog. It is good for your dogs mental health, physical health, and their natural dog spirit. Bonus, it is great for the humans for when you have to work late, have some work being done on the home and need them out of the way, and the joy one gets when picking up your happy dog after a day with their own kind. read more

I seldom leave reviews online but felt especially compelled in this case. We just picked our two year old golden retriever up today from three days of boarding at Pet Me Scratch Me. (His first time there.) Having had mixed experiences at other kennels in the past, we were cautious about leaving our boy. We showed up unannounced for a tour last week and were quite surprised by how clean and peaceful the facility felt. There were a number of dogs there but they seemed relaxed and comfortable. The staff seemed very excited to meet him when we dropped him off and were awesome about my midweekend call to check up on him. He was excited when we picked him up but not especially anxious to leave like we have seen in the past. Clearly our dog was well taken care of and loved in our absence. We began using Pet Me Scratch me on for occasional day care and boarding when we inherited my wife's parent's dog Teddy. Teddy is a 9 year old Shih Tzu who is a bit shy at first. We were wary about how Teddy would react. We were thrilled with how things turned out. Our first uses were for daycare for a few days while contractors were at the house. It was clear from Teddy's demeanor when we picked him up that he had enjoyed himself, and for days afterward, whenever he was let outside to go to the bathroom, he would go over to the car and try and get in to go back. After only a couple of visits, most all of the staff knew Teddy by name. We have only boarded him there once (over a long weekend) but that also went well. You get a discount on day care if it is combined with boarding. Pet Me Scratch me is a professionally run operation and it is apparent the people who work there enjoy the animals. read more

I have been so impressed with Onalaska's Petmescratchme. When I wanted to bring my dog there for kenneling/daycare, the personnel had a protocol for me to follow, and it was ALL for my dog's sense of confidence and security, NOT for my convenience or theirs. I wanted my dog to have a great time, and everything that I thought of that would help my dog feel comfortable, they had already thought of and enforced! I was so impressed! Around Christmas time I came one day to pick up my dog, and they gave me a goodie bag, explaining that they had a holiday party that day, complete with games, and one item was for me-- it was a frame with my dog's picture in it, and his name tag was prominent. It was so cute! My dog loves to go there, and the owner always gives him a hug and knows him by name. The staff is so in tune with my dog, it's amazing. It's no wonder they are filled up so much of the time. Some days they are booked out far, while other days you can get right in. So we're gonna keep going to Petmescratchme, where the love is! read more
