Basenjis have a reputation for being difficult to respond to training and we had a wild pup on our hands. The class was a progressive series of 6 classes over 6 weeks. In addition, Jennifer sells high quality treats, food and toys at reasonable prices. Jennifer even recommends toys that would benefit different your dog. I was really pleased and plan to follow up with Basic Manners II. Also the class prices are very reasonable. Thanks Jennifer.

I did both private and group classes with Jennifer, and it's like Daisy's a completely different dog. We're no longer scared of taking her places. She only whines when she needs to go outside, she knows basic commands plus a few fun ones (twirl, spin, etc.) When she gets anxious or nervous, she knows how to calm herself down now. I will definitely continue to see Jennifer for any future training needs!

Robert and Claire gave us the tailored advice we needed for our puppy to successfully learn basic obedience commands and graduate from advanced (off-leash) training. Up at all hours of the night letting her out to the bathroom but waking to surprises in her crate the next morning. We were all tired. Until we found Tayler. Tayler took Jinger into her home and made her part of her family for the week. I received pictures and video throughout her stay, constant communication about her progress, playtime, and pictures from her camping trip. When Jinger came home a week later she went from being a puppy we had to watch like hawks to a member of the family. In one week Tayler transformed Jinger into a potty trained and well behaved young lady was not only potty trained but also learned some commands. Tayler is amazing in her craft and our family is thankful!

To really understand the psychology of your best friend/animal is priceless. Taylor is so patient, encouraging, and reassuring as I learned to patiently let my puppy be a puppy but also encourage him in the right ways. Now, when I walk him, he sits and lays down when any dog is passing by (at my request), and most everyone says "wow, great job" to me, impressed by his behavior. Awesome experience, awesome service.

I truly don't know if I can adequately put into words what Zen Dog Training and Lola Carter have…read moredone for my family. Before Zen, Gunner and Roscoe couldn't be together for even a minute without growling, fixating, and fighting. We ended up in the ER THREE times. Gunner is twice Roscoe's size, and I lived in fear that eventually one would be seriously injured. For TWO YEARS, I paid someone else to care for Gunner. I've had him since he was a tiny puppy, but sometimes saw him only once or twice a week. I spent thousands essentially paying "rent" for my own dog because he couldn't safely live with Roscoe. Giving either dog up wasn't an option. Roscoe had already been homeless multiple times before I rescued him, and I made a commitment to him. I loved them both. Another training organization told us they would NEVER live together again. I refused to give up. After being off social media for three years, I reactivated Facebook specifically to find help. Someone recommended Zen with one sentence: "Zen Dog Training was the only place that was able to help my dog." I contacted Lola. From day one, she never sold me a miracle. She made no guarantees and never promised they'd become best friends. But she also didn't believe our situation was hopeless. Her realistic goal was simply to teach them to coexist. Roscoe entered a four-week board-and-train, and unlike programs where you drop off your dog and don't see them until pickup, Zen keeps owners actively involved. We had weekly private lessons involving Gunner, plus regular photos, videos, and updates. Week one was tense, but they safely shared a room for the first time in almost a year. Week two: no growling, attacking, or snarling. Week three: Lola brought Roscoe TO MY HOUSE. Eventually, both dogs were calmly lying on separate beds in my living room, ignoring each other. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Week four: both dogs trained together inside Lowe's with muzzles for safety while Lola taught us to recognize their triggers and body language. Week five, Gunner joined Roscoe at Zen. Two dogs who once couldn't look at each other without fighting were lying across the room from one another, relaxing and SLEEPING. And now BOTH OF MY BOYS ARE HOME. For the first time in two years, Gunner and Roscoe are living under the same roof. For the first time in two years, I don't have to choose which dog I get to love in my own home. Are they best friends? No. That was never the goal. THEY ARE COEXISTING. We still follow strict safety protocols including crates, supervision, muzzles during movement, "place," and gradual progression. Lola didn't pretend aggression magically disappears. She gave us the knowledge and structure to manage it responsibly. They can now lie peacefully in the same room, sleep, enjoy treats and toys, and have their crates in the same room without growling or fixation. Another incredible part of Zen's program: FREE PRIVATE LESSONS FOR THE REST OF THE DOG'S LIFE. Lola even offered virtual sessions between lessons if needed. That level of commitment to long-term success is unheard of. I came to Lola carrying fear, guilt, tears, and two years of being separated from a dog I loved. She never judged me or told me what I wanted to hear to make a sale. She educated us, set realistic expectations, prioritized safety, and supported us. Lola gave me hope without giving me false hope--and then delivered more than I ever allowed myself to hope for. I have six dogs, and they are my children. For two years, I believed loving Gunner and Roscoe meant accepting that I couldn't live with both. Zen Dog Training gave me my family back. I'm forever grateful to Lola, Sarabeth, Jordan, and Zen for their patience, honesty, hard work, and love for my boys. Two dogs who couldn't safely spend ONE MINUTE together are now sleeping peacefully under the same roof. Thank you, Zen Dog Training, for giving me both of my boys home.

We have lived in 6 different States due to my job at the VA as a Financial Specialist, helping and counseling Veterans with financial hardship. Moving to Arkansas in 2015, I had no idea of the high tick population after living mostly in Western States where you rarely, if ever come in contact with ticks. Within about a year of moving to Arkansas, I lost two cats to Bobcat fever, even though I had applied various flea/tick medicine and collars. After educating myself on the disease, I was watchful for the initial symptoms and noticed Sekoya's obvious, sudden lethargy. Calling the other vet clinic I've used since living in this location near the Arkansas/Missouri border, I was told they were too busy to see her. I called Dr. Herrin's office and even though I had never been there, they had me drop her off so they could examine her when they had time in their busy schedule. Long story short, Sekoya was indeed diagnosed with Bobcat fever. She spent almost two weeks hospitalized with vet tech Sara taking her home every night to administer the life saving medication through the night. Dr. Herrin or a staff member called me every day with Sekoya's condition. All the while preparing myself to lose her. I rescued Sekoya and her sister as tiny kittens, being born in a flowerpot in a yard filled with junk. And even though I have rescued pets and livestock most of my adult life, Sekoya is a special personality and I'm so very thankful. I'm happy to say that Sekoya has now been home for almost two weeks and is doing great. It's a miracle she is alive thanks to the hard work and caring Dr Herrin and Sara provided. As a side note, I did receive financial help from a family member for Sekoya's hospitalization. We were pleasantly surprised at the total charges, expecting a much larger bill. I highly recommend Herrin Animal Hospital for the best of care of your fur babies.
