We were very hesitant at first because a lot of reviews I'd read I lie referred to this place as a puppy mill or purveyor of factory type dogs. We were in a situation where adoption from a humane society or rescue was not panning out (we looked for over a year for the type of dog we needed for our family needs) so we decided to research breeders and puppy adoptions. On a whim we decided to check out the pet doctor as we personally knew a couple of people who knew some of the employees. When you first walk in it does have the feel of the old pet stores you used to see in malls in the 90s with the glass wall and kennels lined against the wall behind the glass with puppies barking and playing, vying for attention from visitors. We spoke to one of be owners upon our arrival and explained our needs. She showed us the last remaining puppy of a recent litter and he was well socialized and healthy. She also explained her experiences with the breed and showed us photos of her own dog of the same breed. She explained the warranty of health and life guarantee. As long as you vet your animal everything seems as expected for purchasing a puppy. We picked him up later in the day as we had other shopping to do around town. Another lady helped us upon pickup and was also friendly and helpful. She provided us with some free food (we also purchased some puppy food) and rubbed some toys we'd purchased on his kennel mate so he would have a familiar scent in his new home. We took him home with validation of health and shot records and he took took to our family immediately. He's potty training well and appears to be in perfect health. He even slept through his first night with minimal whining. The puppies here are not cheap, but not out of line from what people ask on Facebook swap pages or regional newspaper classified ads. Do your research on breeds and average sale prices before making a decision. A puppy of any breed or cost is an investment and you have to be prepared to care for them like a child. We would definitely recommend Pet Doctor to anyone looking for a new puppy for their family. read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. Purchased a puppy there in February. He has too many health issues to list. Owner or manager is completely incompetent and rude. Their contracted "Vet" is a joke and their disgusting hygiene practices and false advertisement of "healthy" puppies is irrefutably disgusting. People always stress rescuing animals but I have to believe that's what I did because my puppy would most likely be dead if I didn't work to restore his health. I have complained to the Better Bussiness Bereau and hope they regulate this establishment. read more

Be very Leary of this place. Demand a DNA from them I bought a 1500 dollar dog had the DNA done found he wasn't even a full breed of what I was looking for. I even asked several times if he was papered they said yes now they can't even come up with the papers. That is why I ran a dna test. The staff here are here and there as far as helpfulness goes. Some of the employees are happy to help and answer questions about the puppies and other small pets, while others couldn't care less really. The business itself is nice enough, with a large viewing area facing the puppies and a few small play areas where you can take them to play with. I think that the kennels they're kept in for display could be nicer for the dogs' sake. The prices are very steep, something to consider if you're wanting a dog. They hinge on the number of puppies in their litters and rarity. For example, Labradors can be around $200-$300. Corgis are rare and go up $800. The prices for other pets (cats, hamsters, etc.) are much more reasonable. Check this place out, for fun or for actually getting pets or supplies. Would recommend. read more

Will never go here again! Bought a "purebred" Cane Corso and was promised that the registration paperwork would be mailed in a week or so. I've never received the paperwork. Invested in the Mars Wisdom Panel DNA test and found out he was only 37% Cane Corso. Very disappointed. They just come up with excuses. They lie and don't stand behind anything. Have been in twice both with my boyfriend and once with his little sister as well both times the employee treated us like crap we had asked to interact a pup and then we asked if we could interact with another one and was told there was a limit of one which was understandable so we respected that and went on our way then this week we went in and were treated like we are both children and there where two other couples in the store one in there twenties and another in there 40s ish both of them were allowed to interact with as many puppies as they wanted and were treated with respect right in front of us after we were treated like crap. We asked to interact with a puppy and were told no unless we were planning on taking it home today which we weren't going to because a puppy would take time to talk about and we both left after that interaction I felt like a chastised toddler who did something they weren't supposed to and my boyfriend just felt like crap after that interaction. If you are on the younger side and aren't going with someone who is clearly 30s or up don't bother going you will be treated like trash. read more

Honestly, you buy a dog from who? I have a 6 yr old chi-poo that I bought after I got home from Afghanistan. He is still 100% healthy and is amazing. After I returned for a while I decided I wanted an English bulldog which the had. I Purchased the bulldog and had him for almost a month. He developed double pneumonia because of an early onset while he was at the pet store. Pet doctor was very considerate and reimburse me for not only the dog but the expenses I spent on the dog. Honestly, I wouldn't go anywhere else, you may see this place as a mill, but they are no different than any other business. They are offering a product (animal) and you are wanting one. Some times animals get sick but is not their fault, pet doctor is more than willing to work with you exchange or even refund which is what they did with me. I took them in the paperwork from the vet and also poor little man his name was tank. They never questioned anything they gave me my money in return even though my soul had already been taken. read more

To whom it may concern: I would like to share my experience with the owner of this establishment. My family and I had drove 3 hours to look at getting a puppy from your establishment. We had also stopped in Omaha on the way at 2 different stores during our process of picking out the perfect family pet. We played with multiple dogs but did not find the one that was that perfect fit. We came into your establishment played with 2 puppies before we were rudely told that they "only allow you to play with 1 puppy and you played with 2 now" as the woman walked by us with the puppy in the playroom to go out to smoke. We then told the other lady in the establishment that we were actually looking to buy but would be now going elsewhere after that treatment. There was no apology made by this lady and the other lady continued to stand outside smoking. I grew up in Lincoln and have gotten family dogs as a child from your place. I was very disappointed in the way we were treated as a paying customer looking to get our new family dog. Just thought you may want to know given the fact that you are working for the costumer who are also the people who keep you in business. read more

Honestly, whether supposed puppy mill or back yard breeder or whatever, have boughten 2 Chihuahua's from here the first one lived long healthy life of 14 years, and the second one we got roughly 4 years ago. we took a chance because she was really tiny and we were told she was the runt of the liter. However, four years later she is going strong and healthy she is still extremely tiny (3 pounds 4 on a good day) but she totally rules the roost!!!!! In fact we are very highly considering going back to get another one real soon!!! read more

I've bought both a Rabbit and a puppy from this very store. The puppy turns 19 tomorrow and that's why I looked to see if they were still here. The store is clean and the employees are helpful. Supplies are a bit steep compared to the big box stores like petco, but then you can't get a puppy from petco. Prices for the puppies aren't out of line from the outrageous 'rescue' fees shelters charge and they're in better shape. I'll get my next puppy here. Shelters import dogs from foreign countries to fill their adoption cages and I don't want to support that. read more
