They did a good job grooming my dog but I'm completely shocked by how much it cost...and how unprofessional they were when I asked for a price breakdown. I didn't get a quote on the phone when I made the appointment, but I figured it couldn't be more than $50 or $60 for my dog's bath and trim. I've been taking her to get groomed for 9 years in higher cost of living areas, and it's never cost more than that. My dog's a mutt so she doesn't need anything special like a poodle or yorkie. When I lived in California, her bath/trim cost about $45. When I lived in Boston, her bath/trim cost $60. Both higher cost of living areas than here. They charged me $78!!! (And fair warning, they only take cash or check. Not even Venmo. Even food trucks have Square. I wasn't told this on the phone either, so I had to go get cash on my own after I picked my dog up.) When I asked for a price breakdown, the employee looked at me blankly. So I asked "do you just charge $78 for a bath?" And she told me that because my dog was a 60lb German Shepherd (she's not. She's a mutt. She's brown and black like a Shepherd but her coat is NOTHING like a Shepherd), her bath cost $78. I told her my dog was 50lbs and asked what the next lower weight category was, and she changed her story to it costing $78 because my dog has longer hair. Apparently a Lab would cost $58 because it has short hair, even though it most likely weighs 50% more than my dog. Then I was told that I was charged "more" for a nail trim and anal gland expression and any "extras" other than the bath. When I dropped her off, the employee asked me what areas I wanted focused on (her paws and sanitary area, for me) and then happily told me that they would of course trim those areas and they would also do anal glands and nails and check her ears. At this point another employee had joined the conversation. I believe she might be the owner because she was the one that called me back and introduced herself by name. They told me if I took my dog to Petsmart, I'd be charged $120 and up for all they did for my dog today. As if I can't check that?? The bath I wanted is $43 at Petsmart. Go ahead and google it. They also told me I could join a monthly bath club that would make it cheaper......except if I was ever late they wouldn't give me a discount and they'd DEFINITELY be checking to make sure I came in exactly on time every month because they write the date down on my pet's notecard. She actually told me that customers sign up for this monthly bath club but then things come up and they bring their pet in late and so they don't give them the discount... Oh and she also said the price is COVID's fault because the state made them close for 90 days and then ***made*** them raise their price. There is absolutely no way I'll be coming back to Pet Design Inc. They could tell I was upset about the price and instead of lowering it to keep my business, they made up many different, ever changing excuses. It seems like they decided they were going to charge me $78 and had no solid reason behind it, which is entirely unprofessional. They did a fine job, but not twice as good as Petsmart. read more

They are terrific . The lady that clips their toenails even comes out to my car and does them . I have pugs and they are very dramatic when it comes to their nails ! They also did a great lion cut in my cat when he quit grooming himself . So accommodating and very reasonable ! read more

The owner was very happy to accept our appointment. My Dog was not washed. Nails were not cut. They sprayed cologne on him. My dog did have a splotchy hair cut. They seemed to take too many dogs. 6 other dogs were in kennels with 2 people working to assembly line them out. Will not go back. Rene may have over 30 years experience, but the teenage girl who cut my dog does not. They said price on phone would be $38. When we picked him up it increased to $48. Definitely not happy. Would be fine if all services were performed; we even tipped to be courteous. Oh well, live and learn. read more

I am actually going through my Yelp and giving good reviews to all the businesses in the area that have treated me well so this negative review holds as much weight as possible within Yelp's metrics. Called to get a quote on shaving a tabby cat.. Quoted $60.00.. A little bit higher than the mobile service we used last year, but, I figured, they do have a brick and mortar place to pay for... Dropped my cat off at 12:15.. Got a call back at 12:40 saying he was done. Technician on the phone reminded me that they only took cash and check. I asked what the price was again.. They said $78.00... !!!!!! I mentioned that I had been quoted $60.00 on the phone... Their answer was, that my cat was "mean". Yet they finished him in 20 minutes? And by the way.. My cat's front claws have been removed, so he has a somewhat limited ability to "be mean" if he is being handled by an experienced groomer. Also, the service was supposed to include nail clipping as well. This was not completed. It looked like they only did 1 or 2 nails. I find it interesting that multiple "Google Users" (i.e. no names....) have reviewed Pet Design positively, and have mentioned that they have been in business for 12+ years, but only 5 reviews? I feel that they didn't recognize me as a regular customer and saw an opportunity to upcharge. Combined with the fact that they do not take credit card, it seems that they may be having chargeback issues with dissatisfied customers. I will be filing a Better Business Bureau complaint, just to be thorough. I could understand them being upfront with this upcharging policy. I would not have had an issue with that, as that gives me the opportunity to decide whether I want to just call a mobile service or doing it myself. I am NOT cool with a last minute upcharge and a "take it or leave it" attitude.... It is an inherently dishonest business practice to not let the customer know their charge may be higher depending on the groomer's opinion of your pet's personality. read more

I had a horrible time cutting my dogs nails myself due to her being so anxious (5 year 50lb shelter rescue on Prozac). I brought my shy fur baby to Renee and she was kind and companionate enough to come outside and cut my dogs nails when Shakira absolutely did not want to go inside. Beyond disappointed!! I have a Pom that's 7months old and decided he was due for a trim. I specifically told the old lady who claims she had 22+ years of experience to not trim his head or tail. After 5 hrs the lady calls to tell me my dog was ready. I was eager to pick him up as it was his first trim. As soon as I walk in the building the old lady shouts from the grooming room that the back of his head looks a little strange because she had to trim it. She couldn't even face me to tell me that she completely messed up his haircut. I immediately got him out of the kennel and my poor puppy was trembling as I started looking at his trim I noticed right away that behind both ears he was cut bald and had horrible razor burn. I couldn't help to cry, seeing my puppy frightened and cut from the horrible cut he got. The old hag said it was my fault she had to cut his hair bald because his hair was knotted. NEVER TAKE YOUR DOG HERE!!!!!! I took my Irish Wolfhound in to be bathed and clipped. I specifically said not to clip her face or tail! When I picked her up, they had totally clipped her whole body including her face and tail! The tail was bizarre because they had shaved the top of it...it was just awful!! The clipping was so uneven...she was bald in some spots and long in others, her legs had long and short areas, etc. It was a dirty, dirty shop, and my dog wasn't even clean and smelled bad a day later and she is an indoor dog! DONT USE THEM!!! Also, she told my sister that she would train her to groom for $4000! RIDICULOUS! She doesn't even know how to groom so how could she train someone else!!! STAY AWAY!! read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS GROOMER!!!! I just moved here to Colorado and needed to find a new groomer for my puppy. I chose this one because it was close to the house and I like supporting small businesses. She had no idea how to groom a dog! My dog was a crooked mess. He had scissor marks all over his head and he was extremely uneven. She cut 3 inches up his legs so he looked like a peg leg, did not cut his toe nails like she said she did and worst of all she cut all his eyelashes off. I was in shock when I picked him up! He did not even look like my dog and she obviously had no idea how different dogs are to look when groomed. He looks ridiculous and everyone is laughing at him!!! I had to take him to another groomer who was also in shock at this disaster!!!! This place was unfriendly, very dirty and obviously has no idea how to groom an animal!!!! HUGE MISTAKE!!! read more
