I wish I could give zero stars…read more We have been bringing our dog to Carissa for grooming for a while. Early on, after one visit our dog developed an ear infection from water getting into his ear. I paid the vet bill and chose not to make a big deal out of it because things happen. We continued going and things seemed mostly fine until today. On Monday they called asking if I could move our Friday appointment to Tuesday. I agreed and brought my dog in at the time they requested, 2:00 PM. When we dropped him off, we asked when they closed and were told 5:00 PM and that he would be ready around 4:45. They normally call when he is ready. Around 4:50 I still had not received a call so I phoned to check. The woman who answered said she would check and came back saying he was ready. We arrived at 4:55. After waiting for a couple ahead of us to pay, we paid and tipped as we always do. Usually they bring him right out, but this time they did not. I walked toward the back desk thinking he would be coming out any second. That's when I heard someone yelling aggressively and cursing at my dog. I looked behind the door to confirm it was Carissa and asked, "Excuse me, are you talking to my dog that way?" She immediately denied it. Another girl was in the room and when I asked, she said "it wasn't me," meaning she wasn't the one speaking to him that way. What made this even worse was that my dog was still on the grooming table being cut, meaning he was not actually ready when they told me he was. It was already close to closing time. She immediately changed her tone and said he was doing great, then rushed him off the table covered in hair. His nails were not finished and the overall grooming job was terrible. But the unfinished groom is not even the main issue. The way my dog was being spoken to and handled is completely unacceptable. No animal should ever be yelled at or cursed at like that. If this is how pets are treated when owners are not watching, people deserve to know. I will never bring my dog back here. If you care about how your pet is treated, I strongly suggest finding another groomer.

Do not board your dog here. I've boarded my dogs here 28 time and spent a total of $4,000. I had my…read morefirst issue here over the weekend and was able to see firsthand how little they value customers and care about the dogs. My dog was severely injured and almost lost her eye due to negligence on their end. After speaking with the animal hospital I was advised that MANY dogs come to the hospital with a variety of injuries and that CO Dog Academy is not transparent when injuries occur. The Kennel is known as having a "sketchy" reputation and the fact they don't have cameras is a huge red flag. Pat the owner was incredibly combative with me when I asked him to pay for the vet bill. He offered $500 and I asked how he came up with that amount when the cost of treatment was triple that amount. He said I had no proof they were responsible. What I believe happened is that the old rusty door that leads to the outside kennel fell and trapped my dog by her neck (they found grease all over her). As a result, eye proptosis occurred (very painful injury where the eye pops out) I'm so disappointed with how CO Dog Academy handled this matter. I'll Post pics on yelp. Please do not risk taking your dog here.

My kids "Rosie and Snoopy" were still in training mode when we got home. I expected them to be a little out of control, instead, they listened to my commands and were engaged. I believe another two weeks at this program is warranted. Thankyou CDA. Rosie, Snoopy and I appreciate your knowledge of dog behaviors, what is really important in a dog's life and most of all, not to humanize your dog. It all makes sense to me now. The staff, the trainers are all great!!!

We had to bring our sweet girl in again today for an injury, it was very last minute, an emergency, and I was very frazzled, but they took care of her SO well. They even cut our little hearts on her casts like oh my gosh. They were quick to see us, especially since I called and gave them only a 10 minute heads up that we were coming. As far as financials go, they give a very detailed estimate, with a range of what it could cost. Everything is broken down in great detail, and I know they try to cut costs for us, without it affecting our girls health. I'm VERY pleased and thankful for the crew here, everyone I've met (the technicians and the doctors) have genuinely been the sweetest, and I love seeing how gentle they are with my little baby.

Her manner was so detached that I started to wonder whether they even accepted emergency visits, so I asked. After a few long pauses, she said they did. She told us it would be a while before a doctor could see him. I asked how long and never got an answer. A second staff member came in, sat down at a computer, and didn't acknowledge us either. We left. I told them we were going elsewhere because we didn't feel welcome, and the response was a flat "Have a nice night." On paper, nobody did anything wrong -- and I want to be fair about that. But if you love animals, you can tell very quickly when you're standing in front of someone who doesn't. We went to VEG in Boulder instead, where they greeted us with warmth, and more importantly greeted our puppy and showed him affection while they got to work. I don't fault the woman at the front desk. This reads as a hiring and training problem, which falls to ownership and management. If you run a clinic for animals, basic compassion should be a minimum qualification for every person in the building. The vibe was off, and I wouldn't have trusted our puppy in their hands.
