I've had my eye on this place for a while. It's close to home. We usually go to another Peruvian spot, also close by. They complement each other well. Both sell ceviche, and good ceviche. The menu here is limited, so no lomo saltado for example (the other one does). The other one, though, is very quiet, and has no vibe. This place, on the other hand, is a place to hang out. It's a fun spot. The menu may be limited but its very good. What they do, they do right.

The combo

Food was a 10/10. Ordered the combo which includes yuca , fried fish and ceviche. Amazing taste! Tastes fresh & flavorful!

Ceviche, breaded fish, tostones & yuca frita.

We were the first and only ones at noon after a morning on the beach on a beautiful Friday. Our waitress was sweet and funny and everything came out quickly. I enjoyed my coconut mojito, super refreshing, not too sweet. My friend wasn't crazy about her passionfruit mojito so she ordered el cocotazo coctel and continued to order two more because she was in love. Now to the surprise guest: the food. We honestly only ordered because we were drinking an exorbitant amount of alcohol and needed carbs but boy were we glad we did. The stuffed green plantain was crispy but still soft on the inside, the pork inside was delicious. The fried cheese with guava sauce was interesting, almost reminded me of tofu but we could not stop eating it. The crab wontons were the star of the show in my opinion. Fried pockets were jam packed with a crab salad, topped with creamy guac and sweet eel sauce and I could probably eat 20 in one sitting. I also ordered a mofongo with shrimp in garlic sauce, the texture of the mofongo was soft and creamy unlike most places ive had, which I loved, but the garlic sauce was wayy too salty. That's where they lost a star, but I would definitely make sure to make a stop here the next time im in Puerto Rico

It's a small place but only one other table was occupied. The flavors were an interesting take on Italian cooking, Asia and Peru... with spices from around the world. It was very interesting!

Due to the recent power outage, it took a while for them to make some of the dishes (and they couldn't make any pizzas), but overall it didn't matter too much....and, it was helpful that they warned us in advance that it could take an hour or so to prepare certain dishes. Here are some thoughts: - We started with some of the specialty cocktails they were offering. The Pisco Sour was really good, but a bit sweeter for my taste than I was hoping for. - Given the situation with the power, we opted to start with some items our server said could be served more quickly and decided that the three of us would just share everything. Our first item was the cheese balls appetizer and then we had the ceviche. We're glad we started with these because both dishes were excellent...don't underestimate the cheese balls...they are so good with the guava sauce on top! - Eventually our Churrasco Tiritas came out to our table, prepared with the Salsa Setas Curry and with the Assoz del Chef on the side. Wow, wow, wow! This was an amazing dish...so good, that I practically wanted to lick the plate! - Since it was so late by this time, we didn't have any dessert. - Service overall was pretty good, although our drinks sat empty for a long time and we finally had to flag him over to get some water. Bottom line: Asia de Lima has amazing food and the place is very small and cozy...I'm not sure if they are ever very speedy, but that seems to be the norm in Puerto Rico. We would go back!

I decided to do four courses, and every single one was incredible. I started with the Crudo de Salmón Hawaiana with mango pascual, watermelon radish, and hibiscus flower. Then the Robalo al Horno de Leña with coconut beurre blanc, salicornia, and tamarind. For the main course, the Mofongo de Pato Criollo with duck chicharrón, duck and shiitake broth, and guava hoisin. And dessert was the Café with requesón, pâte à choux, and carambola. This was one of the most dynamic meals I've ever had. Every course was completely different, yet everything felt intentional, creative, and incredibly well-balanced. The flavors, textures, presentation, and creativity were on another level. What made the experience even more special was knowing that the ingredients are locally sourced and thoughtfully incorporated into the menu. You can genuinely taste the care that goes into every dish. And the hospitality? Unforgettable. From start to finish, the entire experience was exceptional. Cocina Abierta absolutely blew me away. This is the kind of meal you remember long after you leave, and I will 100% be back. If you're in San Juan and looking for an unforgettable dining experience, go here.
