Or you can stay in a hotel and enjoy a convenient 25-minute trip from a highway. The actual locations you're trying to visit tend not to have hotels. I'm not a zoning expert but I have seen how impossible it is to find train-friendly hotels. The Holiday Inn Express is reachable from the Peekskill train station. While some maps will indicate a 1-mile walk on a some unappealing looking roads, but the riverfront waterway will get you there. Let's call a 17-minute walk. Travel light! There's outstanding waterfront scenery at Charles Point Park. There appear to be two restaurants walkable from the hotel. I walked to the village of Peekskill but normal people won't want to do that (not a bad Uber ride presumably). On more hotel-specific factors, the shower pressure was excellent, the room was far bigger than usual and all the workers were friendly and helpful.
