I was a true beginner and now feel much more confident and have taken drawing classes using charcoal, graphite, and pastels. I really enjoyed the painting class and learned a lot more about drawing and painting abstract, landscapes, and portraits. Learning all of these techniques from Jim Sparks, an accomplished artist and college level teacher has been an invaluable adventure. He works with all levels, classes are creatively interesting and very entertaining. His constructive criticism is spot on and completely helpful and provides much needed insight. Never did I feel uncomfortable, intimidated, or inferior to pick up a pencil during any of these classes. I would highly recommend this class if you have any interest in art and drawing. Even if you think you can't draw, guess again, Jim's classes will help develop you into a better artist and definitely inspire you to improve. So sign up!

They are striving to bring the work of area artists to the downtown to offer color and life to the city. When you drive around White Plains, you will see many new murals that have been added as part of their public art program. I applaud their efforts and look forward to supporting more of their events, may of which are free to the public. The gallery just presented the work of contemporary fabric artists and was a great place to visit on my lunch break.

I was shown a space about three months ago, I asked for a negotiated price, and I was told that there was no negotiation on the workspace pricing, OK no problem. I was hoping to be in "my space" in Arts Westchester at the beginning of June, though all of the management staff, was very uncooperative, very unprofessional, very arrogant, and just downright smug. Each appointment was set by management at Arts Westchester, and each appointment was disregard by the management staff. First, it was Covid, second continued meetings, third I was told I had to have a background check, at this point red flags are everywhere. My ethnicity is of mixed origin, in my heart, I was hoping that perhaps I might be overthinking, that the reason was leaning towards racism. Just because a gallery displays artwork from people of color on display, does not mean that racism isn't hiding in the shadows. Persistence is how Artists, or anyone looking to move forward in their career emerge and grow during their travels/careers. Today is Wednesday, July 27, 5:12 PM Eastern standard time, today I finally got the email, we don't want you at our gallery, not in that many words, still in a very arrogant and blunt email. I was told by the owner a week ago, (don't you have somewhere else to go?) (Followed up by you are not a priority!) extremely arrogant, extremely rude, extremely pretentious place, that includes all management staff that I have encountered. Once again a barrage of red flags. I do not leave reviews, although, at this place, Arts Westchester in White Plains New York, something is going on, beneath the hood, something just doesn't feel right. No, I am not being petty, I am sharing what yelp is made for, either positive or negative experiences in a business. In my personal opinion, Arts Westchester is a red flag place to be wary of. The management staff, is very unprofessional, except for one person, other than that forget about it. Also, the host that answers the phone, is amazing! This place can be hosted with a number of events of your choice, private party, drama set, you name it, it will happen and be taken care of by the facility. On my first visit, I wasn't expecting it to look so eye appealing, but stepping in sure answered that question. The room is fairly large with plenty of seating and also a balcony with tables along with a bar - pretty cool if you ask me. With it being very crowded, there are two stair wells to move foot traffic along quickly. I like the decorations all around the room, especially the disco balls that were hanging (a big fan of disco, no joke). It's awesome just taking it all in. The room looked very clean for our event, and I highly recommend booking them for any event if your choice. *Parking is provided on the street and also a parking area just east of this building. Also, the Dramatic Hall is located on the 3rd level via elevator or stairs.*

First off, I have to say this, I've never seen anything like the Dramatic Hall. It sure lives up to its name. Seriously so much drama and it surely is a photographers playground. It was the perfect atmosphere for a Sunday wedding. Can't say enough how much I enjoyed photographing a wedding here. Everything was so royal and "extra" without being too over the top. The lightning truly was my favorite as well as all the industrial/modern feels. Love the disco balls that hang elegantly as well as the two stairs that wrap around. It's such a fun, different space for any occasion but especially for a wedding. Parking's not the best but they have street parking available nearby. Sunday's it's free so that's a plus. If you're looking for a different kind of venue this is your spot. You will love all the drama and fun it has!

At the cafeteria, breakfast is first come, first served from 10-11am. They have a very limited menu featuring granola bowls with yogurt, fruit puree, granola, and dried fruits. They also have soft boiled eggs, scones, muffins, coffee, and tea. Everything was fresh, hearty, and delicious. They also serve lunch in the cafeteria, but that requires a reservation. There is a Michelin starred restaurant on the property as well. The spacious grounds are a treat to walk. They rotate the location of the animals so it's a pleasant surprise to happen upon them. We saw goats, pigs, and cows. The pathways have gravel, but they were not super rough. We had two strollers with us and no issues pushing them along. We walked the short loop, but there are longer trails for those who want more. Very family friendly and peaceful for a stroll.
