Such a great place to come and learn history! I came here on Sunday with my Reserve Unit and we had a blast! It was a bit cold but overall very enjoyable. Everyone was awesome and we learned so much history. I will say the guys did a great job trying to incorporate some medical history for us. By far the best part! Haha. Great views all around. If you're in the area or want to learn about American History definitely come out!

Another valuable puzzle piece which gives you brief glimpse into the American Revolutionary War at Stony Point Battlefield. This place offers free guided tours. Free demonstrations. Free museum access. Free breathtaking views of the Hudson Valley. All-in-all... Free(dom) is an overall theme here. Come with your friends and family. Come alone. Stay for a tour or one of the many lectures.

Visited this lovely park while near West Haverstraw. We were headed up toward Bear Mountain when we noticed signs for the Battlefield and Lighthouse. Lovely stone arch entrance, though I did not get a photo of it. Lots of parking space once inside. A path leading up toward the small lighthouse, which I'd say was about 20 feet high or so. Along the way were bathrooms, a small museum, which we did not get to experience due to being there late. The park I believe closes at 5pm, and the museum closes at 4:30pm. Nice place to relax, not too much to do but some there were signs and what not that told of the historical significance. Next to the museum house were some tents set up, which I'd imagine were supposed to show the what wartime was like back in the late 1700s. Free to all. I recommend to any and everyone, though don't plan an entire day. Without the museum, we stayed for about 25 minutes or so. The walk from the parking lot to the lighthouse is an uphill walk of about 8 minutes.

Very nice historic area to learn about American History, just wish it would be open on July 4th!

A friend had purchased the Gilt deal for day trip hike in the Hudson Valley through Hudson…read moreAdventure Tours. I didn't really know what to expect but at the end of the day, I had the best time. Dave (the owner) picked us up on 45th and 9th avenue in a comfortable van for 14 people and drove us an hour out to the West Mountain. There we were joined by his son who was waiting for our group with the backpacks and lunch. We then proceeded to hike for 6 miles through wonderful trails that was rated intermediate. It was challenging enough to be fun without being above what we could handle. Along the way, Dave pointed out the history, animals, sights and answered all of our questions with great knowledge and humor. I had such a great time that I highly recommend anyone looking for an escape from the city for a day.

David is an amazing tour guide- I am very happy he established this business, i will surely be joining his hikes in the future. His son was so helpful and kind, they prepared delish lunches for us and the hike was both a good workout and gave us stunning views. Thank you for a great time- I will be referring friends! *The only advice I would give is that the pickup location should really have a landmark- David was running late and our group got very confused- we were the only ones there, there was no exact address to wait in front of and no one called us so we thought the trip was canceled- thank goodness we waited until 9;20 otherwise we would have missed out on this great trip*
